What an amazing dinner Oceano Kitchen in Lantana where original chef/owners Cyndi Bearman and husband Jeremy Bearman--both former New York chefs who worked at some of the best Manhattan restaurants--curate a daily menu of thoughtful, shareable dishes from locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. If there's homemade pasta or tuna poke on the menu, don't pass them up. Anything that comes out of the wood fire oven is fantastic and a must. Need I tell you to save room for Chef Cyndi's desserts? Two chefs that made their careers at Michelin starred restaurants in NYC come to Lantana to do whatever the heck they want with their food. This is the perfect way to describe this restaurant. I've been here three times, and each time was a treat. It is truly the best restaurant in the area. If you are a true food lover, you will appreciate the thought and hard work that is put into each and everyone of their dishes. The plates are on the smaller size and perfect for sharing. Make sure to save room for dessert. The pastry chef will knock your socks off with her creations. The atmosphere is very chill and low-key. No snobbery here, just good food. Everything is phenomenal. I went in with my fiancée for date night and I have to say that it was one of the best and most memorable dining experiences we have had in a long time. That night the menu had a large variety of interesting items and we shared three of them. Tuna Poke which was very fresh and delicious. Then a venison meatball pizza which was incredible. Lastly, a Brisket that was so delicious I did not know that Brisket could taste that good. It actually melted in my mouth like butter and had a perfect balance of smokiness and bbq. I am not even doing this justice right now. The space is small and intimate. We sat at the bar, chatted with the chef, and loved the friendliness of the staff and the intimacy of the space. Everyone was very friendly and the service was spot on. It's worth mentioning that they do not accept credit cards though. I don't usually have cash but it just so happened that I did so it was not an issue - however, if I was not prepared for that, it certainly would have been a negative experience trying to find an ATM and then potentially paying additional fees. read more

Pass by this place every morning going to work. Finally decided to give it a try after all the positive comments here as well as the The Post. We arrived at opening on a Saturday evening. Greeted and seated promptly. Our waiter explained how the restaurant works and that there is a limited daily menu always changing. We decided to share our dishes starting with the Warm Grilled Peach Salad with arugula. Very fresh and delicious blend of flavors. Next up was the Casarecce pasta with melody of cheese, crispy pork belly, and seasonings. This was an amazing trip through Flavor Town. Just wonderful. Next was a crispy thin crust pizza with a very thin shaving of spicy meat (sorry I can't remember the name of it). The pizza was cooked perfectly and was as equally on par with the earlier entries. Last up we had to try the grilled peach and blueberry short cake with sorbet. Wow, a perfect end to a great meal. Service was great. Place was very crowded by 6pm. Only two on the wait staff but they are very efficient and friendly. One buser who kept everyone's water full. Couple things to know... Outdoor seating only. It was a little warm in July! Cash only. So, we were at the spa down by the beach at the Eau resort and decided to try a place for dinner we hadn't been before. And up pops Oceano Kitchen in my Yelp app- and the ratings were excellent so we decided to stop in . We sat at a table outside by the space heater since it was actually a crisp evening in Lake Worth . Well all I can say is Wow !!!!! We had the corn soup with lemongrass and ginger ! To say this was one of the yummiest soups ever would be an understatement ! The way the chef combined all the ingredients was amazing. Next we got the escarole salad and that was another masterpiece! Escarole, fresh stratiachelle cheese, croutons, in a lemon and sesame dressing with white anchovies - wow wow wow!!! And then we got the pork chop with polenta with Apple chutney combined with madras curry spice! The yummiest pork ever ! Btw,, we shared all our courses and it was more then enough. We left with cookies to go - chocolate chip cherry toffee ones to be exact ! We will definitely be back and Intend on being regulars from now on !! Oceano is a foodie gem! The menu changes every day so make sure you review it before heading over. But that info is widely available so not sure why folks are posting about not liking all the offerings when they went. In addition, we had one person with a shellfish allergy and the waitress and chefs were able to accommodate generously. We tried all bit 2 items on the menu and loved every bit. Folks that are regulars appear to come for the second seating (about 8/8:30) and ask people coming out what their favorite dishes for the night are. Great idea! But honestly, everything was superb. This is the kind of place you should try new tastes, textures, temps and seasonings because the chef/owners really know what they are doing so you can feel safe branching out to the fluke with grapefruit, avocado, green Chile, sea salt and onions (served chilled). Amazing flavors and textures! My favorite dish of the night were the sea scallops--perfectly prepared and flavored. The tomato soup with a hint of spice was a fantastic surprise too (and they can split the large single portion bowl into two if you would like). We also tried Lebanese meatballs (made with beef!!), the signature pizza and a pasta dish. And it's so nice to share as the food rolls out super hot from the oven. Btw, on our night (a Thursday), there were plenty of attentive, helpful and friendly servers--full of knowledge and anticipating needs for water refills and drinks without needing to ask. In any case, this place is well worth the wait (call it anticipation), and go with an open mind and palate--and you won't be disappointed! I have to second and third each of the ecstatic gourmet 5 star reviews. Read a few, it is hard to say more. We've gone there about five times. Always a great and evolving experience. Last night sitting at the bar was perhaps one of the best three meals I've ever had. And at my age (no, not telling), I've had a few meals already. The whole staff is very friendly and pleased to reveal their secrets...Like the swordfish was from Spain, and it is frozen for transport and longevity. He said that freezing enhances the taste. My wife and I started with a surprise, a complimentary bowl of chilled corn soup with chorizo and many other surprises like pineapple. Wonderful. I emptied mine and finished hers. Next we split the octopus entree....a huge hunk of tentacle with dressings in a rainbow of color and flavor. Then came the huge serving of swordfish, as usual with great things under and over it. I was full but I decided to go for dessert. Decorated almond tart made by the wife of one of the two chefs. It was heaven, like a slice of marzipan (and that is my ultimate compliment). They have a few quirks that should not distract you: cash only with an ATM on site, free parking nearby in the street a bit crowded, A new menu every day posted on the internet around noon (you never know exactly what to expect, and you can choose a favored menu), no coffee (I cannot explain that one), no coke or pepsi but they have a decent Mexican root beer, not to mention gourmet wine list. Amazing, progressive food without the pretentiousness normally surrounded with this type of food! We started with a tomato and watermelon gazpacho which was amazing. We shared a couple of pizza's which were thin-crusted with unique flavors you won't find at a typical pizzeria. Clams and spicy meats were among the toppings we had to choose from. For the main dish, we did the swordfish which was seasoned with an amazing Middle-Eastern seasoning and I couldn't pass on the smoked brisket which had a coffee, sweet crust. Great dining experience. Cannot day enough about this place! It is a 45 min drive from me, but it is worth it! They have a different menu every single day. Yesterday I had the best gazpacho I've ever tasted, there. Something with the right mixture of the nuts, grapes, garlic, I don't even know. It is a cash only place and every time I've went I've been the most underdressed there. No judgement and great service. If I lived closer I may need a separate budget just for this place or beg to be a member of the unofficial tasting member of their upcoming menus. Well, it is by far the best restaurant I have ever eaten at. It's not cheap, but it is worth it. The food is absolutely outstanding in flavor. The chef Bearman is a well know chef and it can be seen in every dish that comes out of the kitchen. It is not a yuppie restaurant, and that is a plus. Now, why 4 stars?! I took a star away for the following reasons. 1. Ribs were absolutely fantastic in flavor, however, they could of been smoked longer. The meat was slightly tougher than I would expect from a well made dish. 2. Desert, chocolate cake was slightly overpowered, the balance of sweetness was a bit too much. It reminded me of the usual, cheap American deserts. Again, it was not bad, but the balance of sweetness was too much. Also, the cake was a bit on a dry side, crumbled into pieces when I cut it. Properly moist cake would stay together when cut into smaller pieces. I will strongly suggest that you give a try to this place. read more

I always err on the side of positive or don't bother. But start to finish just not good. Get there and are greeted by the manager with "is the rest of your party coming?" Our party of 5 was 4 due to a back issue flaring up. We explained and apologized said we were all there. The comment was "you should have emailed or I wouldn't have put you at this table" and drug the extra chair away. We had to beg for a glass of wine and since we were overlooked and almost ignored we just put our whole order in. Came out quickly enough and ok nothing wonderful. Ordered desert since we were celebrating a birthday and it was good. Five minutes later the same grouchy manager comes by with "I don't want to kick you out but there is a party waiting with a young child and I don't want them to wait too long" we gracefully exited after having to pay our bill with cash after using the ATM machine (obviously they didn't want to pay the credit card fees). We were saying our good byes on the sidewalk and the watched our table be filled with 5 adults while the young family with small kids we were led to believe would get our table remained waiting. I understand COVID. But not once was there a hello welcome, happy to have you. Here are our specials, etc. can I recommend xxx? We got surly and unappreciated.
