Really conflicted about this place. Love that it's chef driven, tends to prioritize seasonal/local fare and that it's not just another mid restaurant from up north opening a bloated Florida outpost. Been here quite a few times and while some dishes absolutely blow us away, others are just meh and exceedingly expensive (Almost $30 for a bowl of typical Asian inspired cucumbers?) Prices are much higher than other Lake Worth restaurants and likely price prohibitive for many neighbors. It really is a shame. Place appears to cater primarily to wealthy visitors and recent transplants. The ceviches, pizzas and desserts are reliably excellent. Fish mains and small dishes run the gamut. Sometimes feel as if we're getting truly haute cuisine (once had an amazing perfectly prepared caviar topped fish filet) and other times not so much (ex. the recent $52 salmon with quinoa was ok but certainly not great/ overcooked) Menu a bit all over the place. Recent offerings included Italian dishes (pizza and pasta), Asian inspired dishes (fried rice for almost $50), a few dishes with feta cheese, southwest/South American fare, schnitzel & spatzle. Nice wine/beer/cocktail list with lovely nonalcoholic options. Had some fab waiters but they often seem spread too thin. Not uncommon to have to grab someone to get water refilled etc. The space is beautiful but it's exceedingly loud. Tough place for anyone with hearing challenges. There's been some talk about Oceano getting a Michelin star. Certainly has the potential but suspect they'd have to up their game a bit to do so. read more

Service was excellent. We had a 8:15 Sunday reservation and were promptly seated on the patio. At that time the place was buzzing, both inside and out. The server was professional and quickly attended to our party. It's an interesting and eclectic menu with far ranging influences. We started with a scallop crudo in brown butter sauce followed by a roast pork belly over a lovely cabbage based slaw. We followed this with lamb chops and fried rice with crab. All these dishes had surprising twists, from jicama in the slaw to pickle juice in the quinoa salad which came with the chops. I do think the lack of bread or similar was noticed with the appetizers. We ate here with friends on a Tuesday night soon after Oceano's reopening. We were happy to have made reservations as the place was hopping. We were sat outside in the back patio (though arguably the interior is more fun, especially the bar area with the view of the open kitchen). I was prepared to be wowed given the hype of the restaurant but was not. Food good not amazing, we ordered a ceviche, a tempura fried shrimp, Straight shooter pizza (the best dish by far), and the blue crab spaghetti (pretty awful, very salty, and expensive). The warm hazelnut tort for dessert was extremely good. I'd go back for the vibe and to see if they've ironed out any kinks. By the way, a highly recommended after dinner nightcap is to be had by strolling over to The Library speakeasy nearby. Funky place, great tattooed bartender whipping up bespoke drinks. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in South Florida. Having known them for years in their much smaller, cash only location, they've since grown to a fabulous and trendy, almost Scandinavian designed restaurant in Lake Worth. Make a reservation and you're definitely in for a treat. Hand crafted cocktails, a rotating fresh and unique menu with outstanding homemade desserts. They always feature some shareable appetizers, upscale pizzas and pastas, and superb main dishes. I highly recommend, but I almost wish they were less busy so I could keep this gem of a restaurant a secret! read more

I would prefer to keep my curmudgeon credentials intact and dislike an eatery whose menu includes dishes with ingredients that I've never heard of...but, dadgummit - Oceano delivers with delicious interpretations of whatever those mystery morsels happen to be...we had a crispy brussel sprout salad, which included dukkah crisp (see what I mean?) - it was, dare I say it - fabulous! Their sausage and broccoli rabe pizza was as good as any you'll find in a great New Haven pizza joint. My rigatoni pomodoro was excellent, with the caveat that no moderately sized pasta dish without a pricey protein should cost $33...but I guess that just goes with the territory, nowadays. Very good selection of beers on draft! Excellent staff - very attentive and personable!! Fun atmosphere on the porch in back. The main room seemed a bit noisy for us old-timers. This restaurant is the definition of a hidden gem! The moment we walked in, we weren't sure what to do since there was just a notepad with the waiting list, but nobody around (hence the 4 vs 5 since I do think that welcome is really important when entering a location, specially a restaurant). After a couple of seconds, thankfully someone came and sat us immediately. We were super happy about this, since Oceano is one of the few places around that does not accept reservations for under 6 guests, and they are also CASH ONLY. The ambiance is very chill, quite social and with some fun and hoppy music in the background that made it just loud enough to still hear those at the table with you. We started with trying the hamachi crudo, and 'addicting' is the word that comes to mind immediately. The fish was super fresh, with great texture, mixed with grapes and avocado which made it refreshing, light, buttery, silky and absolutely decadent! We kept going back for more of it! Our second dish were the meatballs, which were beautifully presented, in a small portion that felt quite perfect, but not enough that the same time. To our surprise, the flavor was so fulfilling that you really only need the amount you're served to feel satisfied. They had a delicious warmth and spice level that dances on your tongue and makes you salivate, with a taste of what felt like cloves, chili, and some sort of peanut sauce that was delicious. They were served with some pickled slaw and actual pickles that served as a great way to ease the spice at the end perfectly. The third dish we ordered was the orecchiette. I must say, it was also quite crave-able, but the fact that I was following 2 incredible first dishes made it hard to consider it as perplexing. I will also point the fact that the past served was more of a rigatoni than an orecchiette, but of course this doesn't add or takeaway anything from how delicious the dish still was. The pasta was perfectly al dente, and the lamb was very well seasoned and in perfect size to have in 1 bite with your pasta, all perfectly bathed in a freshly made garlicky pesto. We were also provided with some deep bowls to use as our serving vessels, which were an odd choice if I'm honest. Lastly, the dessert. We had a chocolate cake with passion fruit mouse and cayenne chocolate ice cream. The combination was unexpected and it definitely worked! The cake was a perfect size, maybe even a bit larger than expected. However, it wasn't too sweet where you found yourself saturated by the amount of sugar, and the cayenne ice cream and passion fruit allowed for the cake to not feel too dry, which I think would have happened otherwise. Overall, incredible restaurant to add to our list. I wish they allowed credit cards used, along with a full bar and your usual bread to start with but again, these would just be my wishes and not a deterring factor at all. I'm still looking forward to coming back to try their food and see what new things they have on their daily menu. read more

I dined at their old location just before they moved to their new location. We at inside at the bar, which is right up against the kitchen. It felt very special and intimate, as we could not only watch the chefs work their magic, but have engaging coversation with them as well. The staff was friendly and inviting. We ordered the pizza and some seafood dishes. It was great to watch them prepare our dishes. For being small, and full of customers, the service was fast and efficient. The food was excellent. Great quality, and tasted delicious. The pizza crust was think and crunchy, with a nice chew to it. Loved everything about our meal, and it felt like a special experience, even though it was just a regular dinner. Can't wait to check them out at their new location. I have been a big fan of Océano since they were located in Lantana off ocean Ave and was so excited to hear they were finally reopening after closing for renovations last summer. I was lucky enough to snag a reservation (yay they offer reservations for small parties now on Resy!!) for their grand opening weekend and was welcomed back with an amazing meal. The space is beautiful and roomy both indoor and outdoor. They now offer a full bar as well and had a list of cocktails which I regretfully did not indulge in, opting for wine instead. As their menu changes often, who knows when I'll see these delicious dishes again, but we ordered a ceviche, a panzanella with duck salad , a pizza with soppressata and hot honey (that new oven imported from Italy is really doin' the damn thing!), and finished off with a nice palate cleansing pavlova starring pieces of apple and citrus. Océano used to be cash only, but they now take cards- more great changes! I hope Océano boosts Lake Ave to include more great restaurants. Will certainly be back soon :chef's kiss: read more

In my job I was lucky enough to eat at lots of great, and in some cases famous, restaurants. Not one better than Oceano. Start with excellent valet parking, greeteding by the most knowledgeable and professional server, very inviting ambiance, and an exquisite menu. Oceano encourages sharing (almost Tapas style) and you'll want to do it. You can't try enough dishes. I could rave on about our choices but, the menu completely changes every week, and only the basic pizza will be there next week anyway. No problem...same arist. Every dish was a delicious flavor experience and big enough to share with 4. Is Oceano expensive? Yes. Is Oceano worth the price? Yes Are we going back! Yes. Pretty much dining out these days is expensive everywhere. But when you get the experience we got last night you feel your money was well spent. Thank you Oseano for a memorable evening. read more

Just got home from an absolutely PERFECT dinner at Oceano. While located in Lake Worth Beach, Oceano is just as good as any of the top restaurants on Palm Beach. Every single thing we ordered was amazing. There wasn't one dish that wasn't great. The Grilled Octopus was cooked perfectly (charred by succulent). The Pizza was amazing. The Rigatoni Pomodoro was perfectly simple. The Schnitzel was hearty and delicious. The best thing of the whole night was the dessert called Frozen. It was a labneh sorbet, with citrus and other amazing toppings. It was absolutely wonderful. The service was really good. The vibe was fun. Highly suggest asking for a table on the back patio if it is a nice night! I cant wait to go back!!!! read more

Easily the best service I've gotten in S. FLA ever! Erin, my server was attentive without being intrusive and so accommodating. This spot while pricey, is worth every penny. I can easily say this is the best meal I've had in a long while. The food is inventive but approachable. I normally don't like eating outside but their shaded patio made it such a wonderful experience that I would sit outside again. I will be back in the summer to try their burgers on Wednesdays and grilled food on Sundays! Definitely a new favorite found! read more

After reading the reviews and the owners experience bios about James Beard nominees, we were excited for a nice night out. The place is clearly one of 2 nice restaurants on strip of bars and Irish pubs. They appear to have loyal following. The place was filled and offers valet parking. The atmosphere is clean and open, but with all the hard surfaces it was extremely loud and even when the server was right next to us we could barely hear her. Something needs to be done about the noise level. The menu is mostly a sharing type of menu. 4 to 5 categories, each having several selections. We tried 3 items which was more than enough for 2. Cocktails are $19 which is high, beer starts at $8. Coming from the Washington DC and the culinary coast of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware we were truly disappointed in the crab and kimchi fritters. Mostly some sort of bread filling, little noticeable crab. I applaud the uniqueness but it fell flat. I was really hoping this would be off the charts awesome. The mushroom pizza with the preserved lemon( sounds odd) was delicious. I would go back for that alone. The crust was perfect, plenty of mushrooms, and the lemon brightens it up. Our 3rd dish was the orechetti with seafood sauce. It was presented in a bowl, and not particularly appetizing looking. (Think hamburger helper) It was swimming in a very rich sauce with undertones of tuna. Less is more in this case. All in all, we didn't have any James Beard worthy dishes. It could have been an off night. Based on our experience, go for pizza and sit on the patio for a nice experience out and you can't go wrong. read more
