Oceano far exceeded my expectations. I mean this restaurant is located right in a strip mall of cheap restaurants next to a casino, so my expectations weren't very high. Mind blown. The sushi rolls and sashimi are extremely fresh and full of flavor. Not only that but everything was presented like artwork. Everything was absolutely beautiful. The ambiance and service was nice too. We ordered the Japanese Egg Rolls for our appetizer and the Mt Rainer, Happy and Ceviche Rolls for our entrees. As well as a 9 piece sashimi set. The Egg Rolls were delicious! Nice and crispy and full of shrimp and crab. All the rolls were amazing! Each one had its own unique flavors and textures. What sets these rolls apart from other rolls I've had is you can taste every single component in each roll. The flavor combinations were out of this world. My favorite one was the Mt Rainer Roll, the crunchy shrimp in contrast to the soft rice and crab salad amazing. You can actually customize your sashimi set here! Which is freaking awesome. You can pick and chose what you want from their fresh sashimi list. They don't have the biggest list in the world but what they do have is fresh and delicious. The sashimi pieces were supple and thick. The salmon was like butter! I am so happy more and more wonderful sushi places keep popping up in the north end. Went with my fiancé for lunch and didn't expect much when I saw the sign said fusion. Sometimes people try to be too many things and it just doesn't work out. At first when we walked in, we stood there for a few minutes before our host/server came to greet us. A little sad that our chef who was right there working did not greet us. Unfortunately my server did not have a smile on her face when she greeted us so it made me sad. Décor did not look Japanese at all, more contemporary American décor. We chose the all you can eat. My fiancé wanted a specific roll that was not on that menu so he asked if they had something similar which they did not. He order two rolls and I ordered 3 nigiri. His rainbow row was great! I loved the fresh fish and the tobiko on top. He got a Philly roll which is normal but I'm not into fish and cream cheese. I had the scallop, surf clam, and tobiko. All very fresh and good. The part that won me over is when they brought his rolls over, they made him 1/2 of the roll he wanted that was not on the all you can eat menu. That was very nice of them. The reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because the place was freezing cold and it took a while for the food to arrive even though we were one of 3 tables and the other folks already had their food. It also took a while for someone to check on us so I could order more food. At first I thought there was only one chef then saw another one show up later so not sure why the food took so long. This place was amazing! The food was delicious, service was great, and plates were very well decorated. The All-You-Can-Eat Sushi was definitely worth it's price. The ambience was very quiet and the waiters were very on top of things. We were able to sample different kinds of cold sake before finally choosing the ones we enjoyed. I had the Hawaiian Teriyaki and it was exquisite! They served it in half of a pineapple. And for dessert I had their mango and chocolate Mochi. It was delicious! I came here last night with my man. He's been coming here since he was a young boy because his family lives really close by. The restaurant is in a weird location and may not look too fancy from the outside but PLEASE give this cute place a chance. As we walk in, the place is BEAUTIFUL! Very nice decor and furniture. A nice girl greeted us and let us have a seat. As we sat down, our waitress gave us our menus and the experience truly began. We ordered a Seattle roll and two of tempura California rolls, edemame and gyoza. Let me tell you, ALL OF IT was so good! The gyozas were filled with yummy pork, making them very hearty. Nice ambience! Wish I had a different waitress. I was the only one in there at first and the service still started off not so great. My initial waitress was just not super engaging at all. She brought my food and then she never stopped back by my table. Again, the place was practically empty. Another waitress came to check in on me, at which point I asked for a box and the check. Regarding the food, I ordered the Japanese egg rolls for an appetizer. I ordered the New Orleans Roll and the Queen Ann roll for my entrees. It really is an Oceano themed restaurant. Great ambiance. Highly attentive staff; constantly checking on you and attending to your needs. Ceviche tostadas, great flavors. Can't toot enough about this dish. I would highly recommend this starter. Just the right amount of lime squeeze with sliced mangos and avocados. The wonton crackers were fried perfectly; timing was perfect, no sogginess or droop. Wasn't able to taste the red snappers; must have been really "bite size" and unassuming. Fresh tomatoes, onions, cilantro and jalapeños (there was no heat, and initially thought it was bell peppers). Presentation was great on a boat; decorative cucumber, fish cut design banana leaf and lemon fish cut out. Ceviche Roll: blacken salmon(tasted more like smoked salmon). Great blend of fresh ceviche and sauce. It lacked some asparagus. Lava Roll: fresh tuna, and salmon with a bountiful of crab salad. The sweet and spicy(not so much) sauce on top was an excellent compliment. Fuego Roll: Spicy tuna, flavored well, but mashed like pudding. I would suggest they use better wasabi. It lacked the heat and tasted like it came out of a tube. And I would recommend they kick up the heat, if it says "spicy." read more

I work in the area and have been interested in this place since the sign was first erected. As soon as I saw it had opened I made point of it to rush out of work and head on over. The ambience is wonderful. I love the dim lighting, the dark countertops, the pretty lights that look like lilies--gorgeous! The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I was a little intimidated at first because it does look like a classier place, but the sushi chef was very warm and kind. The waitress/hostess served complimentary hot miso soup with big, fresh cut mushrooms and ice water with a juicy piece of lemon in it as soon as I sat down at the sushi bar. I hadn't even eaten yet and I already wanted to erect a tent and live there! Being vegetarian, I ordered two veggie rolls and at the end, an amazing desert roll. The first roll I ordered was the Tempura Veggie Roll. The presentation of this and everything else was stunning and almost too difficult to eat--you felt like you were destroying a lovely piece of art. It was warm and sweet (made with sweet potato!) and offset wonderfully with a dab of soy sauce. The next roll I ordered was the Veggie Heaven Roll. More veggies, more tempura, more sweet potato, and more soft warm avocado! There was so much on the plate that I thought I wouldn't be able to finish it, but mind over matter! Finally, I got to the AMAZING Miami Roll! This is a desert roll with deep fried banana, cream cheese, shredded mango, nuts, a drizzle of chocolate sauce, and a big strawberry in the center! If it didn't taste like absolute heaven on a plate, I would've felt terribly guilty eating this. The presentation was beautiful. The chef had cut the strawberry into the shape of a rose--and that I definitely couldn't get myself to ruin. So pretty! At the end of the meal, they did me the kindness of taking my Miami Roll off of my bill, just as a favor for trying them out. I felt very flattered and very fortunate. They may do well at carry out, but it is not a place I'd recommend for dine-in. Last weekend I wanted to treat my daughter for killing it at her piano recital and she loves sushi. We've used Oceano for carry-out a few times so we're looking forward to trying their service while we celebrate. Awesome food and service! The food was tasty and ten stars for presentation. My husband enjoyed the blossom roll while I had vegetarian sushi and Yasai noodles. I also had lychee sake which was soooo yummm! Green Tea Mochi ice cream was thumbs up! There was a whole Bunch of vegetarian sushi options which was a surprise from other places I had been to. We also got some free endamame while we waited for our food and ended our dinner with a free orange(see pics). The ambience of the restaurant is really good, total date night worthy. We tried this place on the recommendation of a friend. Being half Asian and growing up with it, I'm pretty picky when it comes to sushi. This place went beyond my expectations. I didn't expect too much, as the other sushi places in Bothell were disappointing. We ordered 4 rolls and they were also very accommodating for my friend who is vegan. They worked with their menu and changed a few ingredients to meet her needs. Both our orders came out on a wooden boat with pretty garnish. I really liked that thru brought it all out on the same "platter," this allowed us to have a lot of extra room on the average sized table. I also ordered dessert, green tea mochi ice cream. I'm used to places just bringing them out on a plate whole, but this place goes even further, by slicing the ice cream into fourths, with a chocolate drizzle and whipped cream with sprinkles topped with a cherry on the middle. I was skeptical of the combination, but so yummy. They are kid friendly, so maybe not ideal for a date night, but great for catching up with friends! Go here! read more

First time to Oceano and was very impressed! Restaurant is very clean and nice. Staff was very nice and helpful. I highly recommend the Mt. Rainier Roll and the Lava Roll. The Salmon sashimi was outstanding! I don't think I've ever had such fresh salmon before. I got the green salad, much bigger then I was expecting. Dressing was light and a great flavor. My children ate the kids chicken tenders and loved it. Comes with 6 chicken strips, a perfect amount of rice and a side of fruit (orange slice and green cantaloupe). It's the perfect amount for a 9 and 6 year old. Tried my friends miso soup, it was a little too salty for my liking. Felt the total price of our meal was very much worth it. I'm not giving it 5 stars simply because there wasn't anything extra special about the restaurant. But I for some good sushi and a good vibe, I'd recommend it to anyone. read more

This is by far my favorite place to get sushi and I honestly don't know of any other place that compares. The presentation is always nice and the sushi never fails. The major complaint I would have would be the attentiveness of the servers/ hosts. It's a pretty small place and I understand that the deluxe maki takes a little longer to prepare but that's not the core issue. The issue is how long we have to wait for our check after we have said that we are finished and ready to leave. It's never clear where we go to pay. Sometimes we go to the desk out front and other times we pay at the table. Either way, the check will be left with us and we will wait at least 15 min before standing up to pay at the desk in hopes of a faster check out. My advice would be, don't wait so long to ring up the customers. There's about 4 servers total in addition to the owners, from what I've seen, and about 2-3 sushi chefs and maybe less than 10 customers in the restaurant. Someone should at least always be at the podium to greet and ring up instead of hanging out in the back. read more

Just moved into the neighborhood and I must say, the random local casinos in strip malls are a bit strange and tacky; but I suppose it's better than the inundation of strip clubs that I'm used to in Portland. However, oceano was a very pleasant surprise, as I was definitely not expecting a sushi restaurant (and a classy one, at that!) to be in the vicinity of said tackiness. The staff is incredibly attentive! For such a small restaurant, there is plenty of staff on hand ready to refill your drinks, check on your meal, and pre-bus your table. Sushi is fresh, and presentation is practically a work of art. I love my share of downtown Seattle sushi joints, but to find something comparable in bothell (within walking distance, be still my heart) of all places -- needless to say, I am thrilled! read more

They have some creative rolls that are delicious, like the ceviche roll, but normal rolls are priced on the higher end ($11 for spicy tuna maki).
