My friend sent me a read ahead of places to try while I was in KC and he was otherwise occupied and actually had a work vendor who lives in KC and Oddly Correct was on both their list. The coffee didn't call to me (not a coffee fan) but homemade biscuits? Limited batches? I'm sure I could find a non-coffee drink. I got there a little before 930 in the morning, took a look at how busy outside it was and hoped that there were still some biscuits left. When it was my turn to order that was the firs thing I asked was if there were any biscuits left and there was. I was honestly not sure of my next move, so I asked for some help. The person behind the counter said that the build your own option was popular and whatever I add to make sure pimento cheese was on it-since it was almost out. Great, let's do that with egg and sausage. I was looking at the teas but...bourbon vanilla latte? I asked again, is that for real or is it mostly just vanilla? I was assured actual bourbon was used in the syrup. I admitted that I'm not a coffee fan so I'd again follow her lead. She said she likes it with Oat Milk and then asked if I wanted a reusable/refillable glass. I said sure why not, it's a little souvenir. I found a nice seat, plugged in, logged into their wifi and my sandwich came to me, stacked. The pimento cheese was as described piled high that boosted a little spice of the sausage and the smoothness of the egg. The bourbon vanilla latte was friggin delicious! If I lived in KC I'd definitely be a regular coffee drinker for sure? Proof? I finished my drink then got up to get a refill the same visit-jitters be damned!
I was dragging on the morning that I stopped in and Yelp had told me that this coffee shop was right around that corner from where I had to work that morning. I wish I had more time to stay and eat and drink my coffee, but I grabbed an Iced Latte and muffin to go. I was a bit confused when my order was ready and they gave me a glass jar, lid and koozie with their lab on it. When I asked I was told to help prevent landfill that is what they use as the togo cups. Such a cool Idea not only to help reduce trash but I will definitely remember it. My coffee was good and so was the muffin, I need to stop in here when I have more time.
This spot is currently in my #2 spot for coffee of all of KC (hefty list, so this means a lot). I love how they don't use landfill items and everything is glass. Not only is the coffee so smooth and delicious that you'll have a hard time not keep ordering more, but I also got the biscuit where you can add your ingredients that you'd want and it was the perfect mix of tasting homemade and perfect. I got the biscuit with bacon, egg and cheese and it was fantastic. The bacon was thick and cooked perfect. The biscuit was a great mix of flakey. The space is good sized, but it can fill out fast and it was cool to see all of the old printer pieces too. Beautiful, airy place filled with plants so it feels like a breath of fresh air. The employees are super kind and helpful. I highly recommend!
Loved this cool little coffee shop! We ate outside on the picnic tables. After ordering, they gave us a table number and they brought our food and drinks out to us. For eats we ordered: bacon biscuit with cheese curds, plain sausage biscuit, also, sausage biscuit with egg, cheese curds and orange marmalade. My Americano with macadamia milk was served "to go" (I requested that) in a little jar that I can return with for refills.
I was finally able to try a biscuit sandwich from Oddly Correct! On the weekends, Oddly is packed wall to wall, and they sell out of their handmade flaky biscuits early in the day. On a weekday, there was plenty of seating and plenty of biscuits to be had. They have a build-your-own biscuit menu with topping options like sausage, cheese curds, jam, and bacon. Highly recommend cheese curd. The biscuits are so crumbly and flaky that this is definitely a knife and fork sandwich experience (silverware available by the water/busing station). Oddly Correct is known for their coffee but they have caffeine free options like their turmeric tea available too. I love their unique science-y drink set up if you decide to stay in for your beverage. Their to-go coffees are served in reusable glass jars! Super sustainable. The service was quick and friendly! Plenty of street parking on a weekday, but expect to walk a bit on the weekends.
Instagram made us do the trek to Oddly Correct to try their famous breakfast sandwiches. This place was so cute! Loved the outside paint on the building. The inside was spacious and had a lot of light coming in. Also good decor. Lots of merch and other goodies to shop for. I got an iced chai latte, which is some of the best I have ever tried. My boyfriend got a rosella tea, which was also good. Now onto the real stuff - the biscuits. The Hotcakes Sandwich was surprisingly good. I didn't know what the expect but it was a nice portion with overall good flavor. Build your own biscuit option was also good. Everything was hot and freshly made. Outdoor seating area was large but could use some shade and maybe even some comfortable lounge area. Private lot and street parking.
I haven't updated my review since they moved to their newer location on Troost (they were formerly on the edge of Main St. on Westport). It's a big improvement overall! The most recent morning in, it was 20 degrees so naturally no one is lingering out on their gigantic patio, but you can imagine during the warmer months it's a nice place to set up. One thing about this coffee company is that they continually find a way to humble me and remember how uncool I am. They have two counters set up, and I chose the wrong one. I got my coffee to go and when the barista started filling up a glass jar I reminded her it was "to-go" which she sort of rolled her eyes like, "I know dude, this is our to-go cup" energy. First time I've ever seen it, a gentle explanation would suffice. Definitely some of those too-cool-for-school vibes here, but dammit if the coffee doesn't hit every single time. It's so good. I love black coffee and their drip coffee is on par with a quality pour over elsewhere. They roast it beautifully and have it down to a science. I'll go here occasionally for the great coffee, and take some beans home for special occasions. Not an everyday coffeeshop for me and would love some warmer, more welcoming vibes more consistently from this place.
I found this place when I was visiting Kansas City on my own for the first time and needed some good coffee. Specialty coffee lovers in Kansas City, this is going to be your go-to cafe and roastery! I visited in June 2024 and have been back several times throughout 2024. They have single origin pourovers, multiple different milk coffee drinks, a variety of teas, and black tea drinks like chai and london fog. I've tried their Ethiopian and Kenyan pourovers, the latte, and london fog. All have been good but the london fog was phenomenal, best one I've ever had! Pourovers were balanced and enjoyable, and latte was nutty and chocolatey. I've tried some food items too, like the breakfast biscuit, blueberry coffee cake, hojicha chocolate chip cookie, matcha macaroon, and a strawberry shortcake muffin. They were all good, nothing amazing but a nice snack after your coffee for sure. When it comes to just the drinks and food, I would probably rate it 4-4.5 stars. Everything is solid. But based on the good vibes, I would bump it up to 5. The shop feels so welcoming and quirky down to the artwork and interior, and the customer service is friendly. You can even watch the roasting happen if you're sitting at the high chairs in the back of the shop. A great place to go when you're in downtown KC and you wanna feel comforted. That's certainly what I do! PS: One thing I would like to see from Oddly is more descriptive notes about the single origin beans in general. Notes like "nutty" "clean" "silky" etc are fine but it would be awesome to get more specific notes to figure out whether it's something that I'd want to try like what kind of fruit or what kind of nut.
Incredible! I really enjoyed this place. They have so many decaf options including cold brew which nobody usually has! I got a decaf bourbon vanilla latte with oat milk, and the sausage jalapeño artichoke biscuit, and split a donut with my husband. The coffee was divine. So, so delicious. The breakfast sandwich was amazing. It wasn't spicy but it was so good. The donut was fascinating. It had a weird texture for a donut, almost angel food cake like? Sort of like soft and chewy, but it was probably the best donut I've ever had. My husband got the hot cake sandwich and wouldn't even let me try it because it was too good lol. Everything here was top notch. I'd definitely come back!
I've been wanting to check out this coffee shop for a while and finally stopped by on my way home. First impression: the place is cozy with plenty of seating and a great aesthetic featuring lots of plants. They even asked not to feed the plants! Since I arrived late, there weren't many pastry options except for doughnuts. I decided to try their iced bourbon vanilla latte, and it was probably the best choice I could have made. The latte was fantastic, and I appreciated that they don't use plastic cups for to-go drinks. The baristas were friendly and welcoming. I loved everything about it! Surely coming back here again!
I love it here. From the moment you walk in, it is such an eclectic and artistic space. The walls are painted white brick, and they have thoughtful decor and plants placed throughout the coffee shop. When I stopped by, multiple individuals were seated and chatting or presumably working on a laptop. Both the coffee and food are delicious. I love to get an egg and sausage biscuit with raspberry preserves. I also get a vanilla bourbon coffee. The flavors are unique and tasty, not just your run of the mill spot!! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable, and they all have such a cool vibe I want to be their friends!! Truly this is one of my favorite coffee spots in Kansas City.

The story: Needed a coffee stop before heading into Church and wanted to keep it local. Oddly Correct has been on my bucket list to try since I discovered they roast their own coffee beans. The experience: They have done an incredible job at conveying a story within their doors. The infamous octopus has become somewhat of a mascot/logo and is prevalent throughout the space. It is artsy, filled with greenery, and BUSY! Arrive with a bit of time to wait for your order. My favorite thing however is the incredible effort they have made to maintain a sustainable/eco-friendly business model. They serve all to-go orders in glass jars with a koozie. It is a small additional deposit for the glass jar, but the expectation is that you bring it back for your next visit. Almost everyone in line had one with them to return. The service: service was friendly and helpful. They all worked as fast as they could with the growing line. They seemingly make their own biscuits/breakfast items in the back as well. I'll have to come back to try this next time. On the menu: They have three flavors to decide from when it comes to coffee. While they didn't have my go-to sugar free vanilla ...I tried the vanilla bourbon latte with macadamia milk. It was superb. However, my one recommendation would be to offer a sugar free option for those following low sugar diets or those with diabetic restrictions. The overall impression: I snagged some espresso beans for home as well, which were delightful for my morning at-home coffee. I will definitely be back to try their food and to bring my husband along for the experience. A fun spot for KC to have. read more
I've been anxious to try Oddly Correct again after a bad experience at their old location over a decade ago. I'm a former barista (who remembers latte land??) and I was not only talked down to, but straight up denied cream or milk in my americano at the old location ca. 2011. I've always loved their beans though and when they opened this location I figured it was time to let bygones be bygones and try again. First of all the location is beautiful. Love the vibrancy this gorgeous cafe brings to the neighborhood and how it gives locals a cool place to eat and work. So great. The baristas were 10/10 kind and welcoming. The coffee 10/10 amazing. This time I went with one of their specialty drinks iced to go as I was so scared of reliving my decade old cafe nightmare, and I'm glad I did - I still think about how great that latte was and I LOVE that they only use glass and encourage folks to recycle. I brought a friend visiting from Maine here who doesn't have social media and she loved it so much she considered joining to just review Oddly! 4/5 because I'm obviously haunted but l'll come back hopefully soon when the weather is not so hot and get my usual 8oz americano and see what happens. Came to Oddly correct on a Saturday morning around 10:30am. It was very busy, both on the patio and inside. We ordered the sausage biscuits with pimento cheese and a donut for our child. They carry Mr. Ds donuts! The Pimento cheese was spicy and tasted very creamy. All drinks are served in a glass cup, or in a glass jar. I ordered a latte and vanilla syrup. All sweetener strips are made in house. We were able to find a seat, but very crowded. The space was unique and looked like a printmaking artist studio. Lots of bench seating on the patio! read more
A really unique coffee experience that stands out among the rest. They clearly have a mission of sustainability that is most evident in the way they do to-go glassware that can be returned for the deposit. It really ties the customer into the effort and connects you to the store. Their roasts are well done and bring out the flavors of the coffee. The biscuits were amazing! Pillowy yet with a good crumb and just the right amount of buttery. Highly recommend topping with their jam. Fantastic baristas as well! read more
I know I love a bunch of coffeeshops in KC, but seriously, this might be my top favorite coffee shop at the moment here! This was a place that people kept telling me to try, and FINALLY I made it out here - the fact that it's so close to me yet I never gone?? This is on the pricey side of coffee, but with their concept, you keep the glass jar/koozie they give you, and when you return the glass jar for your next visit, you get a $1 off your drink. It's super cute in there, and a decent amount of seating! Haven't had the chance to study so not sure how the ambiance is in terms of that, but the coffee is GOOD. Very solid drinks and this is a place I make sure to bring visitors when they come to KC. read more

Only been in Kansas City for a few weeks, and it's about a 20 minute drive for me. But I'm on my 10th bourbon latte and will be back. Staff, fun artwork, good atmosphere. The owner knows what's up. Plus always a positive when it's dog friendly. They also have there own parking lot. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to check out this unique coffee shop. He had been before, but I had not. I had a bourbon latte. That was absolutely amazing. I did swap for a nondairy alternative of oat milk. My boyfriend on the other hand did a Ethiopian pour over and drink it black. I do not generally drink coffee, black, but had a sip of his coffee and it was delicious, and so smooth. We will definitely be here again. read more

What's so special about this seemingly normal looking cup of chai latte? The punch of flavor! An avid drinker of chai blends and all sorts of other tea, I can honestly report that no chai latte has ever tasted similar to this one. The spices are bold and the clove really pops. The cherry on top of an already noteworthy cup of chai is the beautifully thick layer of spume. This cup was so unforgettable, I think about it every day as I drive down Troost to drop my husband off at work. I would buy this blend if I could. That being said, if you are looking for the average chai latte, don't stop here. The staff was a little slow/the place was busy. I had to wait a while for my drink but I didn't even care after having my first sip. The shop is cute, there's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. Parking in the adjacent lot can be sparse on a busy day but there's ample street parking. Their prices felt steep to me ($5 for a chai-- yikes). But, did I my drink was out of this world and oddly wonderful? I haven't gone back yet but I would buy their chai blend in a heartbeat if they have it for sale. Thanks, Oddly Correct! read more
As someone who doesn't drink coffee, I'm always looking for a good chai latte and Oddly Correct has a very good one. I wanted to check out their new location and it was hoppin' on a Thursday morning around 10:30am. I was wearing my scrubs because I had to go in for work at 1pm and the person who took my order gave me half off my drink for Industry/Service Thursday which was a pleasant surprise. They gave me a number and I sat down to wait for my drink. I also ate a vegan cinnamon roll that was huge! After maybe 10-15 min, my drink was delivered to me. I sat there for an hour or so and read a book. I didn't end up finishing my cinnamon roll because it was so big. Parking: there is a parking lot and there is street parking. Atmosphere: a few tables and some bar stools. Also some outdoor seating. When the weather is nicer, I could definitely see more of the outdoor seating being used. Chai: nice and spicy - just the way I like it. Vegan cinnamon roll: I had high hopes for the roll but it didn't quite hit the spot. It was good but not great. It was actually not too sweet which I enjoyed but the texture was more cake like than I was expecting. I could have used more cinnamon. I will be back because I still want to try some of their special cold drinks they make and maybe one of those biscuit sandwiches? read more

A good friend of mine recommended that we go here for a meet up, so we did! There is a parking lot with you plenty of spaces, as well as ample off street parking. I had the vanilla bourbon iced latte with oat milk and a extra shot of espresso. My friend had a hot London fog, but then went back and also had an iced one (both with oat milk). There is limited seating on busy days so be prepared to sit outside or pull up to the bar area in the side room. The staff was super friendly and the coffee was delicious. I suspect they toast their own beans, but the flavor of beans was wonderful. read more

This place has always been one of my favorite places for good coffee in KC. Now, their space is much bigger with outdoor seating. They also serve homemade biscuits with different jams! They are SO good. Soft, fluffy, and buttery and warm with a nice hot cup of coffee I also love their beans! Java is a crowd pleaser, I believe, and one of my personal favorites! read more

The espresso and food here is insanely good. The espresso is so smooth! If you enjoy a good latte, the bourbon vanilla is so lovely. And don't get me started on the cheese curd biscuit sandwiches! Yum! You won't be disappointed. read more
Having been by this coffee shop many times, I finally had a chance to stop in on a rainy day. Oddly Correct is just that, and that is to say, it's different but it still feels right. From the art on the wall, hand-painted or designed by the shop owner, to the artfully designed pourovers, this place has a unique vibe. Pricing is a little bit hefty for a cup of coffee, but anything done well is worth paying a little bit more. Their house-made chai was sinfully delicious, with accents of both cinnamon and cardamom present but not clashing. I had time to enjoy a Colombian pourover which was pleasantly delivered in a graduated flask on hardwood. I suppose the presentation justifies the price and again, when something is unique, then pony up for it and enjoy. Maybe not every time, but you get the point. You're here for the *coffee*, and Oddly Correct does that very well. Parking can be street or in the shared (small) lot, but you're in Westport, folks, and not the 'burbs. Their menu emphasizes a core competency towards great coffee and the staff and interior reflect Oddly Correct's concept exceptionally well. read more

My first experience here. Definitely has a classic vibe. If you like pour over, once you try this place you'll never go anywhere else! I came here with my wife and she used the beaker to pour into a contraption and then proceeded to guzzle the solution down. I had a Dark Choco Mocha which was delicious. I loved the fact that when I deposited the liquid into my gullet that there was no excess chocolate sitting in the bottom of the mug (means they had perfect balance of coffee to chocolate ratio). read more

my favorite coffee shop of all time! i read a book while in line that the company founder began sketching on bags as a way to pass time during roasting the coffee, which eventually turned into printing their art on all the bags. the art around the shop makes for a unique vibe that can inspire your own creativity. this coffee shop is incredibly transparent about everything from the wages of their employees to how they keep their carbon footprint down. they use glass cups for to-gos that comes with a koozie printed with art as well. i use this cup all the time, the design of it allows you to throw it in a purse or book bag without spilling. they even have a coffee subscription available to customers; my brother loves getting his bag every month! i typically get a buttermilk biscuit with strawberry jam, but they have options to build your own sandwich. they even have vegan options available. bourbon vanilla syrup, made in house, makes for an insanely delightful latte. coffee is also roasted in house, and their knowledge on good coffee chemistry is a cherry on top. lots of more i could rave about but i think you should just experience it for yourself. read more

Did you know that oddly has modified their to-go cups to be glass? When you pay, you out down a "deposit" for the glass and when you go back you can return it or reuse it for another cup of coffee. I love that oddly keeps the environment in mind with their decisions. Of course they serve up amazing coffee as well. There is no outdoor seating area and all chairs inside have been removed but it's located in Westport. You can grab your coffee to go and walk around the area. I ordered their chai tea latte which is my go to and it had a kick to it which I loved! For people who like more mild chai's I would recommend another drink. read more

You know when people answer the interview question, what's your greatest weakness in a bullshit way that makes them look great? That's how I feel about Oddly. They work way too hard to make the best cup of coffee in KC, but it is the best cup of coffee you'll get in KC hands down (unless you're looking for unicorn colored beverages full of sugar). Everything from the beans, to the art, to the plants to the glassware is intentionally chosen to be beautiful, functional and high quality. Is it 100% hipster? Yes. I love that they give jars with koozys instead of to go cups. Their biscuits are pricey but delicious and if you care even just a little about coffee science you will enjoy any beverage on their menu. The art on the coffee bags and on the walls adds to very curated whimsy of the space. They know what they're doing, they care about the local community and they know their local food offerings. If you're a coffee nerd/snob or hang out with people who wear beanies with short sleeve shirts you're gonna love this place. read more
Absolutely LOVED this coffee shop! So much so that I went two days in a row and three times total on my trip to KC. The first time I got a cappuccino, the second time a chai latte, and the third a bourbon latte, and all three were spectacular. The third time I went I sat there and worked for a bit. It's a great place to do a little work, read a book, or meet a friend. The service was also excellent. The second day the person taking our order asked if we worked in education or healthcare and gave us a discount. So sweet! Also love the reusable jars, the koozies, and all their merch with really cool art that's stamped in house! read more

Loved this super cool coffee joint! First of all, this place is all about the coffee, but they do have some breakfast options available "until they run out", so just FYI. Menu options include biscuit breakfast sandwiches, donuts and cinnamon rolls. We tried this place because we love the coffee at Succotash and found out they serve Oddly Correct Coffee. We were definitely not disappointed. We didn't do the pour over (although I'll be back to try it) but went with a simple drip coffee and 2 cheese curd, sausage and egg biscuits which were DIVINE. The biscuits were rich and flaky and the cheese curds were a fun and different touch. The coffee was hot & delicious...and I actually tasted all the fruity flavor notes that I usually roll my eyes at when I see them advertised on coffee bags . We'll definitely be back for our weekly supply of coffee beans in the future. Also - just a note - we went on Sunday around 9am and the parking struggles were real. The church nearby must have been gearing up for a service. We ended up parking on the street on the other side of the road because behind the coffee shop was insanity. read more

I LOVE this new location! A huge and roomy upgrade to their currently location. Oddly Correct is just all together a really incredible company and one that should have support! They truly care about their team members which shows by the way the treat and pay their talented baristas, they care about social issues, they have taken time to be conscientious about their decisions as a business in regards to environmental impacts that they have as business with programs such as their glass reuse program! If your looking for a really awesome small business to support then definitely add this to your list. read more
