Lived in gilroy for almost 3 yrs and I'm barely trying OD'S kitchen and boyy have I been missing out. Typically I'm not a breakfast person but when I do have breakfast I want a big breakfast. My boyfriend and I came on a Tuesday morning luckily it wasn't too busy, as a first timer it's a little confusing because we stood in front waiting to be seated but you actually seat yourself here. Besides that our waitresses was very nice . I ordered a hot chocolate and she put a good fatty amount of whip cream on top not like other places that put only a skimp amount. My boyfriend ordered their western omelette and I got the rib eye steak and eggs, which are bot served with a hearty amount of hashbrowns and your choice of toast. I got over easy eggs they were a little overcooked but still good. The steak was juicy and seasoned jus right. Eating here, you will definitely have left overs because they serve big portions . I called in to pick up lunch and got a cheeseburger. I really didn't find that much appealing about it and it wasn't any different than any other diner burger. Because they put the food in the container while it was hot, it steamed everything and was mushy. That is just to be expected. However my biggest issue was how rude the guy was when I picked my food up. Because I went on my lunch break and had limited time, and because I didn't get out of work until 10 minutes after I imagined I would, I got there 10 minutes past the time I said I would pick it up. This dude just HAD to make a comment about it...as if they were annoyed that I didn't show up at precisely 11am. Like what, you thought I was going to not show up at all?? There was no one in the restaurant eating and they weren't even close to closing, so why even care about it. I have consumed maybe 100 three cheese and sausage omelettes with the delicious cripsy hash browns from this place over the past 10 years...always excellent. I order to go and I value consistency and ODs delivers just that. If I remember to order on the right day I love the cream of potato soup as well. We've been going to O.D. for years. I love their breakfasts the best. . .feta cheese omlette with mushrooms and spinach. My husband likes the Denver omlette. We also like the veggie and another one with chilis, tomatos, onions and salsa (the name escapes me at the moment). O.D.s serves a lot of comfort food in the evenings which are recipes of Mrs. O'Donnell. Like all comfort food, there is a lot of it and it tends to be on the high caloric side. read more

My friend and I did a YELP search for breakfast places in Gilroy. After reading about a few places we chose OD's Kitchen. WOW, it was packed and now I know why. We both picked the french toast, bacon, and egg plate. The french toast was a little crisp in a good way not soggy. The bacon was thick and crispy...Yes! The egg was over easy like I ordered. But most of all the coffee kept coming like it should. It was nothing special but it was better than many I have had and it was hot. We talked to the owners and it was very pleasant... This is the best place to eat in Gilroy. It's affordable, has excellent food, and the ingredients taste really fresh. I really love the lunch menu. I haven't been here for breakfast though, which is what they're known for. It also has a nice, cozy atmosphere. I usually would order the burgers here, and the sandwiches which were quite good. It doesn't matter what people put on Yelp because everyone in town knows this is the best place for breakfast. If my heart could handle it, I would eat here everyday. Chicken fried steak, eggs, and the best hash browns you have tasted will put you down for the rest of the day. Sometimes you are seating right away, and sometimes you have to wait 15 to 20 minutes. But it is worth it. If you want fantastic service and delicious breakfast plates this is the place to go. We visited OD on mother day. Yes it was busy, but isn't it always ? The wait was 25 mins, about average for ODs. We were shown a table in a little back room, take note, if this happens to you refuse the table, its dark ,dingy the drapes are disgusting its a mess. We waited a long time for our order. When it arrived we all had complaints. Burnt bacon being getting biggest no no. The food was just average. About a year ago we went through a spell of being regulars at this joint, we know they are capable of good stuff, but this time it was just an awful breakfast experience, Not to be repeated,we wont be going back!! read more

We go to OD's every Sunday and we love it! The place is small and there is usually a wait on weekend mornings but they move quickly and the food is always great. The pancakes are seriously the best I've had. The servers are friendly and you can substitute things no problem which is nice with picky children. But we met some locals and we were told OD's Kitchen was the BEST place in town for breakfast and they were right!!!
