Chocolate Panna Cotta Espresso Crema and Lingua di Gatto

Tucked away on First Street in downtown Napa, this place is a gem. Beautiful dining room with a cozy bar tucked away in the back. We've been here several times over the years and have always enjoyed the consistently excellent Italian cuisine and outstanding pizzas. They have more than 20 varieties of house-made salumi and fresh handmade pasta . And whenever you see a blazing brick pizza oven, it's usually a good sign that pizza will be on our table. My go-to pizza is the Funghi, topped with crema, Manchego cheese, cremini mushrooms, caramelized onions, and parsley. The crust is beautifully blistered and crisp, yet still has a wonderful toothsome, chewy texture. Another favorite is the Fidei all'Arrabbiata, featuring San Marzano tomatoes, onion, chili, and pangrattato. This classic Roman pasta dish is tossed in a fiery "angry" tomato sauce, earning its name from the kick of fresh or dried red chilies infused in olive oil. Simple, bold, and packed with flavor. The portion is generous enough for two. We'll definitely be back! Happy eating!! 49

the service was amazing, but i do wish the food was a little better ): my husband and i came here for a little date night and wanted to try something new! we started with the burrata, which was definitely the best part of the meal. the bread was perfectly toasted and the strawberries paired so well with the burrata. for our entrees, we shared the margherita pizza and the cannelloni. the pizza was good, but nothing that really stood out. unfortunately, we just couldn't get behind the cannelloni. it had a very interesting flavor that wasn't really for us. overall, the drinks, appetizers, and service were great, and the staff was wonderful. i just don't know if this is somewhere i'd come back to for a full meal.

Oenotri is a small restaurant in downtown Napa with the entranced tucked away inside a courtyard. There is a small bar tucked away in the corner should you want to come in and sit at the bar instead of main dining area. We ate here several years ago and decided to dine at a familiar spot our first night in town. We arrived and our hostess and server Devany seated us. Devany was very sweet and attentive and always had a smile in her face. Even though there was a large party sat next to us, it was not too loud in the restaurant, even though a small venue and we were able to carry on a nice conversation. For the table, we ordered the Mixed lettuces with my Meyer lemon vinaigrette & parmigiana- reggiano cheese. Although very simple, this was very tasty and quite refreshing. We also ordered the Margarita Pizza. Thin crust with san marzano tomatoes, four de latte and basil. I'm torn on this one. It was good but already cold when served. I feel $30 is much too expensive for a small pizza such as this. The Crecenza polenta was delicious. Creamy and flavorful. This is a good option for a starter dish for the table. I ordered the Pappardelle- Braised beef, cremini mushrooms, garlic, onions, red wine. This was very good and a generous portion. Overall we had a nice dining experience and will return.

I must admit ... I've tried a handful of restaurants in Napa and none of them really blew my mind. We've been to Italian restaurants we just randomly looked up on Yelp and they have been kind of disappointing for the most part. I made another trip up here for a little solo staycation for my friends birthday, and didn't really have plans for dinner. This restaurant was close to my hotel and conveniently located in downtown Napa so I decided to give it a shot. Initially, when I walked in, they told me that they were fully booked (including the bar). Just before I was about to leave, someone came up to me and told me they could clear up the chefs counter for me, which was amazing! I had the sweetest server who was constantly checking up on me, and even gave me a taste of their Calabrian chili because I said I liked spice. Once I took a look at the menu, I instantly knew what I wanted - the beef papardelle with mushrooms. It came out piping hot, a good portion, noodles were cooked perfectly, and it was incredibly tasty. I would 100% come back again for that pasta, and ++ for a delicious extra dirty martini as well!

This evening I tried the linguine and shrimp, I was not pleased by it at all. It tasted very buttery. I probably would not recommend this pasta. I'm a little disappointed.

We had a lovely lunch here after an early wine tasting in town, and the food was delicious. We ordered the charcuterie prosciutto plate and a pepperoni pizza -- everything tasted great. We were seated by the window with a beautiful city view, which made the experience even nicer. Our waiter was wonderful -- attentive, friendly, and always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. Thank you for making our visit enjoyable and tasty.

The pictures pretty much say it all. Nice ambience and reasonable prices in Downtown Napa.

Solid food and easy to get last minute reservations! Our server was sweet and a lot of the staff were attentive when our waiter got busy.

Had lunch here with several girlfriends during a ladies weekend... Pros- food. Everything we ordered was extremely tasty. Their pizza is perfectly made, I didn't order it, but wish I had (next time!) I had a small slice from a friend and enjoyed every bite! I ordered their steak which was cooked to my desired temperature (medium rare) and also very delicious. Service was also great! A little confusing since we had the two brothers....luckily they wore two different shirts, but their resemblance at first confused me (I'm slow!)! And the person who made the pizzas, she may have been the chef, she was hilarious!! She came over to check on us several times and had us laughing each time! Cons- I can't think of any...

Our group had some mixed reviews on the food dishes, the atmosphere was nice. The staff vibe wasn't the friendliest, felt like it was a large amount of staff gazing at the the restaurant while a few people on the floor worked. Just didn't have a cohesive flow which you could see and feel in the delayed service.

We had a wonderful dinner at Oenotri. First of all we had the focaccia bread with one of the best olive oil I have ever tasted - and I was in Italy a few months ago. We had a party of 5 with a reservation and were seated promptly and had fully attentive and friendly service. For food I had the busa pasta which was delicious, my wife had the halibut which she loved, and my daughter had a vegan pizza which she claims is one of the best she ever had. What a great experience!

Roasted beets salad - $16

Lovely Italian place for dinner while staying in Napa, definitely make a reservation in case they are busy - the restaurant was almost full when we arrived (their entrance is confusingly located inside the alley, not facing the main street, which we missed the first loop around). I really enjoyed the beet salad, but I just wish it was slightly larger for the price. That aside, all the pasta and pizza dishes sounded good so we had a hard time deciding what to get - ultimately, we opted for the formaggi pizza and added pancetta, and the special pasta of the day which was a ragu lasagna. The pizza won out for us over the lasagna, but the pizza was also a tad on the expensive side for the portion ($38). The lasagna was fine, but felt a bit basic for $25. Service was good, nothing fancy but they were attentive for how busy they were. All in all, we enjoyed the meal and would come back. Given they are located downtown, look for street parking, or for a spot in the public lots which are all walkable within a few blocks.

Delicious pasta in a great spot! Everything here is a good choice, and the pasta is fresh and delicious. We shared two appetizers and three pastas between three people and came home with leftovers. Portions are a good size, and we each had a different favorite pasta so you really can't go wrong. They were swamped when we got there, but our server was apologetic and was clearly working hard to attend to everyone. I would absolutely come back!

After we finished eating, I frantically researched (read: checked Yelp) for a winery to visit. Housley seemed to fit the bill--good reviews, dog-friendly (we had her dog with us), and what seemed to be a reasonable tasting price. We get there and we realize it's owned by Tamera Mowry (who is now Mowry-Housley!) There's a picture of her and her husband (a former baseball player) in the window. We're sort-of starstruck. Shortly after, her husband (and the winery's owner) Adam walks up with their daughter and asks us how we're doing. We continue to be starstruck. Service was wonderful. Seating was comfy. The views weren't the best (we were drinking on the sidewalk and there's a parklet too.) The 5 wines for $29 was not bad, but the size of the pours was lacking. The first pour was the smallest and then slowly they seemed to give us more (maybe they heard me!) Honestly, the pricier wines tasted better. I wish our wine tasting could've been free if we bought two bottles or something--I would've done that! Cute merch and store with goodies inside. Bathroom is clean. Would be back!

Nice touches adorn the restaurant throughout. The menu has a lot of wonderful options. The service, provided by Alex, was excellent. We started with the Dungeness Crab arancini, which are probably the best thing we ate all evening, and that's saying a lot because everything we had was great. These arancini are perfectly fried crab meat rolled into a ball served over a delicious tartar sauce. I wish I had 3 orders of this, at least. We ordered the soup of the day and their bread service. The soup was a white bean and sausage and it was perfectly salty and fatty. The bread and butter was a perfect accompaniment. The Carpe Diem salad was also really special. It had these Cabernet soaked dried cranberries that were so good and tart. For an entree, we ordered the short ribs which come over a risotto. It felt a little heavy, and maybe the sauce could've used a little acid to cut the heaviness. It was still really delicious though. For dessert, we had the espresso crème brûlée. This was just the icing on the cake of a great meal. I love Carpe Diem and hope to come back soon!

The front windows were open, bringing the outside in, and there were multiple seating areas that could accommodate groups of all sizes. They even had a big-screen TV showing the World Cup game. Everything about this place was a yes for our semi-large group. When we sat down, we were warmly greeted by a woman in a yellow shirt. I believe her name was Shea. She was amazing and definitely not the reason I considered taking off a star. Shea was lovely, attentive, and took great care of our group. There were quite a few great wines on the menu. The flights were a little on the pricey side, but hey, this is downtown Napa. Overall, we were enjoying our family time, but there was one sour grape working that day. I'm not sure of her name, but she was wearing a black shirt and had dirty blonde hair pulled back in a ponytail. She looked unpleasant and like she wasn't happy to be there. Normally, I wouldn't write about someone I didn't directly interact with, but I can't get over the way she spoke to her coworker, Shea. She was condescending and bossed her around. At one point, I watched her interrupt Shea while she was helping other guests by calling out to her from behind the bar. She didn't seem to care about any of the patrons, almost as if they were an inconvenience. Will definitely be back but only when the sour grape isn't working.
