    Miso Soup
    Nicole N.

I was craving sushi, and this place was nearby me. I decided to try it out on a whim, not expecting too much. EXPERIENCE I walked in by myself on a Thursday around dinner time. It wasn't that busy inside, but they were doing a lot of take out orders. I was seated immediately, my order was taken, and it was a pretty quick and casual affair. FOOD (4/5) Miso Soup - Not too salty. Good amount of seaweed and and tofu. Pretty good! (4/5) Chirashi: 3 pieces Ahi (tuna), 2 pieces Kanikama (imitation crab), Ebi (cooked shrimp), Mekajiki (swordfish), Sanma (mackerel), Hamachi (yellowtail), Sake (salmon), Aji (horse mackerel). The rice was really good, it was fluffy and you could see the individual pieces of rice. The fish was overall pretty good, a majority of the fish tasted quite fresh. My favorites pieces were the sword fish, yellowtail, and salmon. I was sad that there was only one piece of most kinds. I didn't really care for the imitation crab. The tuna was a bit subpar. The price was not that bad! Its definitely not the fanciest sushi, but good mid tier sushi that is not likely to get you sick. OVERALL This place is affordable. Their sushi is fresh. Its casual and easy going. The staff is polite and timely. I would recommend you try it. Don't expect anything too fancy.

Stopped by here on a Friday evening. We ordered cold soba noodles and kiss the fire sushi. Soba noodles was fresh and chewy! Delicious summer meal. The kiss the fire sushi was fresh and yummy! Service was quick. Prices decent for the area. Would go back again.

The restaurant is low-key and isn't super busy. The service was good and the sushi burrito was cool to try. The food is affordable and good quality.

We ordered takeout for lunch. The chicken katsu with curry sauce is delicious. The chicken is crispy and the sauce has lots of flavor. The gyoza in the box is very good! All fresh ingredients. Two meals worth with this portion! We also ordered the general gao's chicken which was good. Nice tender pieces of chicken filled with flavor. Good portion of broccoli. Not too spicy.

We stopped by here for dinner one Saturday night before a movie. It wasn't packed like some of the other restaurants down the street and we wanted a quick bite. Its interior was spacious and clean. They offered both table and booth seating. Service was great- our waitress was kind and attentive throughout our stay! We started with the fried vegetable gyoza ($5.95) which came with a side of yummy, slightly vinegar-y dipping sauce. It was piping hot and yummy but the pieces were a bit too fried. The outer skin was quite crunchy! I had the Spicy Vegetable Noodle Soup ($10.75) as my entree. It isn't listed as spicy on the menu but they were kind enough to accommodate my request! It consisted of assorted vegetables (bok choy, broccoli, bean sprouts, diced asparagus stalks), chewy ramen noodles, and a savory, spicy broth. The spice level was pretty high but that added so much more flavor to everything! I found its slightly peanutty taste to be a little strange, though. I loved the abundance of noodles. It was made just right- not too mushy but not too stiff, either. The assorted vegetables were fresh and crunchy! I don't think I would've liked the regular broth very much so I'd recommend making it spicy.

This is one of my favorite go to sushi spots near me! Good quality and affordable prices. Very low key and casual atmosphere. Their sushi tends to be packed with fish and minimal padding on of rice, which is usually inversed for some of the other spots I frequent.

    5-Piece Fried Oyster

Came here on a Saturday for lunch, and there was no other customers in the restaurant, which is a bit concerning. I ordered the fried oyster and a sashimi platter. The fried oyster was a bit disappointing. The batter was very thick and very soggy. The sashimi plater looked good. Portion-wise this was very worth it. However, I got a diarrhea late afternoon and at night. Not sure whether it was because of the sashimi. They looked fresh and tasted amazing tho...

Ordered here for the first time today and will not be returning. Food was ok. Tuna Sashimi had definitely been sitting out too long

Went here twice and have only ordered sushi rolls. I would say that the house dragon maki is the best one, but the rest I've tried were pretty solid as well. Service is okay. I would come back again if craving sushi!

Wonderful restaurant with very high quality sushi and other Japanese favorites. I got sushi deluxe. It was fresh and delicious. We came here when a nearby Japanese restaurant would not serve us because we had no reservations and wow. It turns out it was our lucky day. They treated us great!! Sushi and dumplings were great. Mai tai was sharp and fruity. Have fun here!

Pork Cutlet Curry: The restaurant specializes in fried foods, with the pork cutlet being their absolute signature dish. Although the cutlets were on the thinner, leaner side, each one was fried to order, resulting in a crispy exterior and tender, juicy interior, fragrant but not greasy. The breadcrumbs were especially fluffy and light, bursting with flavor on the palate, which was incredibly satisfying. The curry was authentic Japanese curry--rich, mild, and slightly spicy with a distinct fruity aroma, perfectly suited to my taste. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask for a runny egg for the $2 additional egg; otherwise, it would have been even better. And at only $15 a serving, including a salad/miso soup, it's incredibly good value for money, perfect for lunch. Fried Oysters: Also crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, the oysters were fresh and juicy. The lemon juice and salad dressing were refreshing. I felt they were even more delicious than the pork cutlet. The place is located in Lesley University's Main Hall and has only four tables, so you may have to wait.

Shoyu Tsukemen: The tsukemen noodles were much larger than the ramen noodles; a small portion had 200 grams of noodles, which were quite thick and chewy. The chashu叉焼 was stewed until tender, but the broth was extremely oily and had a strong porky smell, which was nauseating. Karaage: It was a little overcooked, but fresh and hot, so it was still pretty good. The sauce was a bit spicy, which was interesting. Aji-tama: The taste was neither good nor bad, but I found eggshell in it. After I reported this, the staff first asked if I had cut myself, and then readily gave me a refund, which was nice.

As we made our way inside the restaurant, Chef Chris took the time to greet us and since we were the first ones there for our time slot, he gave us the option to pick any table we wanted for our omakase experience. He is very personable and took the time to get to know us and talk a bit about his background. The tables were split into separate sections so that you were seated only with your party which I thought was a nice setup, especially for a date night. We decided to do the Grand Slam Omakase with 16 courses with a specially selected sake pairing. Chef Chris took the time to explain each course, with several of the components being made in-house. I was an especially big fan of the Hokkaido scallop course but everything was phenomenal, especially the nigiri. You can tell that every aspect of every course is crafted thoughtfully and with care. If you are looking for an omakase experience, I would definitely recommend reserving a time at Momi Nonmi!
