Best korean corn dogs in Austin!!! Korean corn dogs are still pretty new in Austin and I've only tried one other place near downtown that sells them, but Oh K Dog beats them in price, value, variety, and taste. The price for each corn dog ranges from $2-5 which I'd say is pretty good. The size of the corn dogs is pretty large, combined with all the toppings, one is pretty filling and you'll definitely be full if you get 2. There are so many different corn dogs with different fillings and toppings. The taste is so crispy and everything I anticipated and expected. The service is also really nice and safe; the front staff asked before adding sugar and the girl in front of me misheard and I think doesn't consume sugar so they remade her order. Between the corn dogs I got, it's hard to choose but I like the sweet potato corn dog more. I love the combination of sweet and savory and the texture that the potatoes add. Stopped by the food court at H Mart to try this place. I ordered the egg and avocado toast, and cheese dog/potato corn dog. I really liked the eggs in the toast sando. They use a cream drizzle that's a bit sweet so it's a nice balance of savory with a touch of sweet. It's a bit bread heavy so you don't really need to order more than one. You can tell the dog is the quality of an Oscar Meyer wiener. The squid ink cheese one is crunchier so the texture was on point. There wasn't a distinct squid ink flavor. The cashier recommended to use the communal tub of cinnamon and sugar to coat the dogs. It may have helped, but so not willing to do that, especially during covid. You can get these made with various "shells" from rice cake to sweet potato and with various fillings from mozzarella to squid ink. The combination I got is their Potato Mozza Dog. [covid review] We were SO excited to try the new Korean corn dog place in the H-mart food court, and it did not disappoint! We ordered the ham&cheese egg toast, the classic hotdog, the half mozza half hotdog, and the potato mozza dog. They took maybe 5 to 10 minutes to come out, and it was another 15 minutes to get home and eat, but everything was still warm and tasty. The toast takeout container was well designed (plastic film over it) to keep the bag clean. Our corn dogs were a bit less well packed, with a paper tray (to catch the sugar sprinkling) placed vertically, so we needed 2 hands to hold the bag sideways. My favorite was the egg toast -- the butter-toasted bread was very thick yet soft, and it's perfect for absorbing all the sauces and juices from the fillings. The eggs were light and fluffy, and the whole thing had a nice sweet/salty flavor. You will need to wash your hands after eating this but it will be worth it. The corn dogs were also quite good! The batter texture/flavor is pleasantly different from American corn dogs -- very soft and chewy on the inside and suuuper crispy on the outside. I personally wouldn't recommend the potato dogs, since you get less crispy outside batter, the potato chunks on the outside aren't that good, and they also cost more. This was the first time I ever had Korean Hot Dogs and yes. Just yes. If you're hesitating on whether or not to try it, get it, buy it, this is the sign to just do it. I love the H-mart food court and competition is pretty high, but with what you get, the price, and the taste, Oh-K Dog is definitely a top contender for a meal that will satisfy you. The first time I came, I got 3 things off the menu because I got a little too excited. The Taste: 1. Classic Half and Half - Honestly, although this one is the classic and it's super simple and straightforward, it was really good. I loved the half and half options personally because I realized that I got a little bored just tasted the cheese so the glizzy was a nice change towards the end. 2. Squid Ink Half and Half: This one looked very very cool. The outside layer is covered in black squid ink but in terms of taste, it honestly just a bit dough-ier but that's about it in terms of difference. They cut the bottom to resemble squid tentacles which I thought was pretty cute. 3. Sweet Potato: Now, this one was definitely a dark horse that I didn't saw coming. This was the employee's recommended favorite so I had to try it out and man, I think this was hands down my favorite one. The first bite of this was ~SO GOOD~! The crunch and the sweetness from the fried sweet potato complimented the cheese inside extremely well. Honestly, the price of the corn dogs were some of the best that I have seen around the area given the customizations and upgrades that came with it. The classic one is around $3 and the sweet potato is around $5. For me, I thought that I wouldn't be full with just eating one but one is definitely quite filling. In terms of the service, it was pretty average for the most part. I literally knew nothing about korean corn dogs prior to coming here and when they asked to put sugar around the classic one, my brain was literally like ???. A few months ago I was telling everyone "If Austin had K-Dogs then my life would be complete" and lo and behold my wish was granted! I like it dusted with sugar and dip it in ketchup, mustard, and onion powder they provide on the side. The sauces are a must, or else it may be too greasy or too dry to eat in one sitting. One corndog and getting a soup from next door at Narrow Street is usually my go-to meal, getting two corndogs on its own is a meal in itself. For fast casual, this food is exactly what you expect and need! You can't go wrong with the crunchy corn dogs - I got the #7 which is half mozz and half hot dog, and I personally like the cheese better. They have a counter with trays to dip your dog into sugar or drizzle on a multitude of sauces (is this COVID safe? *shrug*). I enjoyed the hot and mayo sauces I layered on. I wish they understood their wait times when busy a bit more. They told me 10 minutes (which I was skeptical of) and it ended up taking 45 minutes! The egg toast is substantial and fluffy looking. I ended up getting both to help make the wait more with it. I got the squid ink one, and I believe the original egg toast. The looks of the food are just as good as the preview photos! I love the squid leg look of the sausage in my corn dog. The egg toast was buttery and unexpectedly a bit sweeter than I'd imagined. Perhaps savory would be a better way to describe it. You can request to add or pass on the sugar coating of your corn dog at the end, and condiments are available to your left to drizzle on the corn dog. Overall, this was a fun and filling indulgence.
