I have been waxing for over 10 years!…read more I have seen many waxers and I have high standards. Basically I am a pain in the (fill in blank) when it comes to my eyebrows. Not that they are hard, I just keep my same shape and get them cleaned up. My standard service is a Brazilian and Brow wax. I have been seeing the same waxer for about 8 years but unfortunately for me, due to motherhood and Covid she has closed her shop. So once again I was on the hunt for a new waxer. Finding someone to due a Brazilian is pretty easy. They just have to remove everything, so it's not really hard to mess up. Finding someone to do your brows and do them well, that's an art. I found this shop via Groupon. They were offering a $28 dollar deal for a Brazilian and a $28 deal for a full face wax. I bought both. After reading reviews (as any good yelper does) I didn't see any "Red Flag" warnings. The biggest thing that stood out was there was not a lot of reviews, but for the most part everyone was happy with the services they received. RED FLAG!!!!! This is your warning.... I called the shop for an appointment and was surprised they could get me in within the hour. I arrived at the shop and was greeted by an older woman named Sindi. She was nice and we chatted some. The shop was not clean, but it was passable. She started with the Brazilian and it hurt, but I knew that it had been almost a year since I had been waxed and although trimmed there was more growth than usual. So a little pain was expected. Then she moved on to the face... RED FLAG! RED FLAG! RED FLAG! The whole process, lip, chin, cheeks, and brows, was painful. I have pretty fine, short hairs from years of being waxed so it should not have hurt as much as it did. It wasn't until I got home and looked in the mirror that I realized what had happened... She literally tore layers of skin off of my cheek, chin and eyelid. (Pictures attached) I knew that she was being rough, but I never in a million years would have thought this would have happened. I have had bad waxes, but this was by far the worst! Needless to say I will not be returning and I advise anyone who is reading this to take caution. The amount of wax that was left on my body was ridiculous. It took me an additional 45 minutes and the help of my man to remove it all. I even found wax on my feet... where she was nowhere near. It took me an additional 15 minutes to finish my eyebrows with tweezers as they were not cleaned up and I had to buy wax strips to finish the top of my butt which she missed completely.

I'm so glad I did…read more The quality of the blowout was so good that when she moved to another salon, I had to follow her. She blew my hair BONE STRAIGHT and it lasted a good five months. I could easily last another month here in California weather but being I'm going to ridiculously-hot-and-humid Texas at the end of the month, I wanted to make sure I got it done before my trip so that my hair was silky smooth and easier to manage in the high humidity. I arrived and Joe-Joe, washed and prepped my hair. He was super friendly and easy to talk to, and gave my head a great massage. (In fact, all the people at this salon were very friendly!). Josette then adds the product in, blows it straight and then irons it bone straight. She has the whole process down and you'll be out the door with your shiny, super straight hair within two hours. It's cut my hair dry time down to half in the morning and my hair gets bone straight! If I just want my regular curly hair, I just add a bit of serum, crunch my hair, and I have great, frizz-free curls! The best of both worlds for this naturally curly haired girl! =) Make sure you don't use any sulfate hair products after your Brazilian. She has a tendency to forget to tell people that and the sulfates will tussle up the product that keeps your hair bone straight. Look on the ingredients on the back of your shampoo/conditioner. It's worth tossing out the product if it has sulfates and you're investing in a Brazilian. Most grocery/drug store products have it in there so you're better off buying salon brand or L'Oreal even has a sulfate-free products out in grocery/drug stores.

I would've expected this to be included but I just said whatever & went with it.... Also, I paid for a BB deep conditioning treatment. My hair is extremely fried and lifeless. It didn't really make much difference so I wouldn't get it again. She also didn't fully blow dry my hair- it was still a little wet when I left and she just put some product but didn't really style it at all. She said it was best to leave it curly but it just dried into a poofy mess. For what I paid, I would've liked to have it parted, straightened or some kind of cute style!
