Love the red sangria. It's addictive. Tortilla soup is excellent. That's first thing I got when I arrived as I don't get to indulge in authentic tortilla soup often. They now have an $18 lunch special that's a good deal. I think it goes til 4. And on Taco Tuesdays you can get veggie tacos. It doesn't seem like veggie tacos are offered on any other day. I ordered the Flor De Mayo (has mezcal) and my date ordered the Cadillac margarita. For an app, we ordered the guacamole and our server brought us out a sample portion of their three salsas to try. But nothing outstandingly different from any other guacamole I've ever had. I enjoyed their margaritas. They were well made. But if you're the type of person who likes your margaritas nice and sweet, this is probably not the place for you. It's more for a real deal margarita. I got buzzed off the small one. My husband who has a rather higher tolerance than me got buzzed off of the medium one. Why three stars? This place needs a little bit more maintenance for the bathroom. Both bathrooms had issues. They had those European style low flow toilets. One of them was over flooding and the other one needed to be reset. Good thing I knew how to do that. Otherwise, very nice ambiance. Near the beach. A huge selection of tequilas and mezcals to get the night started. Campechano tacos were flavorful and hit the spot. This business only cares about maximizing every single penny of profit, and cares ZERO about fostering good will with their customers and making sure they leave with an experience worth telling their friends about. So Friday night I was jogging all the way from Mid Beach and was a little hungry. Española Way was about a good 3 miles and so I stopped by. Mexican food can be as indulgent or healthy as you make it, and thus I stopped in. Weather was more conducive to eating inside, and this I was helped by Amalia. Though I left a bunch for calories sake, their bucket of chips is artistically served in a cone and with a variety of sauces. One of those is avocado based - and y'all know how I feel about that "thing" (yes, probably the only Latinx person who doesn't like it :) Amalia had great attention to detail in getting me double pico de gallo instead. My main was their chicken fajitas. This is a delicious steaming hot plate of grilled chicken & red peppers. Add in a dash of rice with two servings of sour cream. The corn tortillas were tasty (I snuck one in). As far as sauces, their volcana sauce has just the perfect amount of heat for me. A lot of the reviews mention the price and autogratuity. Yes, I'm guessing it's part and parcel of the beach experience. As it were, I saw something wedding related in the outside terrace. Service was attentive and the restaurant looked clean.
