The place is nice, especially its close to June Lake Beach and other Lake around the area. Bathroom was clean. It was just too windy at the time we stayed here. The only thing is the late check-in at 2 pm, so when you get here early you will have to wait. read more

This is such a nice campground. Located at June Lake, our site (43 Squirrel) had a nice partial view of the lake. I like that the roads are paved and there are different loops - making it east to drive around and well spaced out. The tent campsites are ok for 2 small tents, but that would be a close fit and there is no shade. This is a great place for families or couples sans munchkins. The beautiful mountain scenery definitely takes the cake here, but dont expect to see a sky full of stars. They have bathrooms, but no showers. There are some available at the store for use with quarters. There are little chipmunks everywhere! They were super adorable and not obnoxious at all. We did have a deer walk through our site leisurely and I thought I heard a bear, but it may have been our neighbors snoring. I would come up here again. It was well worth the drive. read more

This was a beautiful place to camp however make sure to check before going on where your campsite is. We had no shade what so ever. If you have a canopy or EZ up bring it, most of the campsites have little to no shade. Sun doesn't fully go down until close to 8:30pm. Overall campgrounds were nice, but it gets hot. Rangers and camp hosts were little to no help on changing camp spots. read more

I camped here last year and I plan to camp here twice this coming summer. We were in the second to last spot on Deer Loop, right across the street from the water spigot and a spot away from the bathroom. -Those bathrooms were, by the way, cleaner than the one in my apartment. Ridiculously clean. Two-ply toilet paper. This was a glamping experience for me. -Firewood is a little costly, but I'm a firm believer in buying firewood locally. -It was very quiet when we were here, excluding the people who showed up in an rv and in the morning saw a deer and proceeded to loudly list every time they had seen a deer in their lives and the intimate details of their children's divorces. But everything else was pure natural bliss. -If you're camping in a tent, go for one of the spots with a wind barrier. Up on the hill it gets very very VERY windy. Our tent broke a stake. -Really inexpensive for what a great place you're getting. -I'm sure they change all the time but since another review mentioned a bad experience, the caretaker who was staying in the spot next to us was an anger. He even offered to share his extra firewood! It's a coinflip is all. -Cool things to check out nearby: June Lake, obvs., Panum Crater, Mono Lake, and Bodie! read more

Just stayed this past weekend with three families (12 people total: 6 adults, 6 kids under 10) and had an absolutely incredible time! We stayed in deer loop, sites 135-136). First night there, I was worried we weren't going to make it, frankly. The wind -- as noted in several other reviews -- was absolutely horrid. Not only were we consistently worried about the tent coming un-staked, but it was SOOOO LOUD! My kids slept soundly. I did not. That said, the following two nights were gorgeous with very little wind (if any). A few critters (mostly little chipmunks) and one morning a doe was even standing less than 15 feet from our camp site! I wondered, when we first arrived about the wooden walls contained on some camp sites. Figured they were for shade given the lack of trees in the area (take note). But no -- they were very obviously for the wind. So if you can find a site with a wind-shield, snag it! The lake was very easily accessible. Either a quick 2-minute drive or a lovely 10 minute (15 minutes dragging toddlers) walk. The camp host and park rangers were all very nice. One of the other families in our group complained about the noise from neighboring sites one night (seemed to think it went on for too long), though it didn't bother me (which is funny given my first comment about the wind). We did a day trip here into Mammoth for the Devil's Postpile/Rainbow Falls hike and it was a quick 30 minute round-trip there and back to catch the shuttle. All in all, a great location. Lastly, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that these were probably the cleanest and best maintained camping bathrooms I've ever experienced (and we camp A LOT). Kudos to the camp hosts for this one. One sink (out of two) didn't work very well. No soap and no towels (or hand dryer) so bring your own. But otherwise, incredibly clean and very well maintained. read more

We stayed at Owl 103 on Labor Day weekend. It was one of only two spots left and we could not be choosy. There was no lake view, but the site was nice. It is close to the road, but you cannot see the road or even hear the cars. The site is partially shaded (one tree) which was pretty good considering that some sites have no trees at all. Important: bring your own canopy for shade. The bathroom is just across the street as well as a water spigot, which was convenient. To the left of the site is a large empty field of sage. To the left is a very close campsite, but we hung a tarp for privacy. The staff was very friendly and helpful with directions. It was good to have access to coin-operated showers at the Pine Lodge next to the entrance to the campground. Ice was available there too for $2.50 per bag. Overall, a very enjoyable stay. read more

Oh! Ridge is an awesome campground with beautiful views and easy access to the lake. The bathrooms are clean with flush toilets and sinks, and showers are located right next door at the RV park. A general store is also at the RV park. We didn't see any bears but we did have deer visit the campsite in the morning. We absolutely loved our stay and will be back again soon! read more

Campsites were a little close to each other. Tent camping in bear country this can be good thing. Deer roaming in campground during day. All in all a very nice place to camp. Rangers very friendly and lake beach water warm in the sierras. Only draw backs. One entrance to campground and beach area, so if someone is arriving to camp, you have to wait till there done to enter the campground or beach. Should have a pull-out so not to block traffic. Could use more bathrooms, though the ones they have get cleaned every other hour it seems. Very clean. read more

Spent 10 days here as a base to see the eastern Sierras. The campsite was spacious but limited on shade (shady sites duly noted...). Some sites were smaller than others, so choose wisely (one of the campsite photo sites and Google maps help). Beauty. It's all around you here, take advantage of the sights, the lake, the hiking, biking and even at night. The skies are as close to total dark skies as any of us city dwellers will likely see, bring a telescope or binoculars. Due note though,summertime nights are usually in the mid 40's to low 50's with daytime temps in the mid 70's to low 80's. Wind. It gets windy, usually around 2pm and it'll die off before dinner unless it doesn't, which was one night and it lasted most of the night. So it goes. Some days it wasn't windy much at all, just make sure to stake down the tents/awnings etc. Animals. Yep, lots of deer and even more chipmunks and ground squirrels. Bear do come around on a rare occasion so use the locker for everything that would entice them. Everything. Bugs. None for the most part, was expecting the usual camping annoyances but they only came out with the lanterns (moths). Beach. Within walking distance if you desire (the drive down is a tad steep), the beachhead(s) are nice and the water cool, until you get further out and then it's a bit cold but this an alpine lake fed by snow run-off. Everything was pretty darned nice... except the shower situation. The Pine Cliffs Resort was the weak link in the chain, when they work (and oh are they cheap) it takes a while for the temp to normalize and the regulation of the heater is not so good, but the worst part is the guy that does the cleaning, he is a first class jack ass. Yes the showers are advertised as 8-8 daily. Except on Sundays, when they close them at 6, which wasn't mentioned until I was 5 feet from the showers and it was 5:45 and they were full. Needless to say I went without and gave the old guy a piece of my mind after getting some crap from him and his drinking buddies. I never went back. Also the store only takes cash, what year is this? And all the "Rules" posted about the store, holy lord are you in customer service or are you control freaks? Found the showers at the June Lake Marina to be clean, functional and the marina staffed by decent people who understand customer service and act as such, they just cost more but it was worth it as the water got hot and stayed hot (unlike the Pine Cliffs) and there was never a wait. Anyway enough about getting clean. Go to June Lake, stay at Oh! Ridge, regret not. read more

We camped here on 09/20/2015 thanks to the great reviews here on Yelp and we loved it! We were headed back to the East Bay from Vegas and wanted a half way stopping point. We made it to Oh! Ridge around dusk. We didn't have reservations but a quick check beforehand at recreation.gov showed that there were sites available throughout the different animal named loops. We grabbed a self-pay envelope ($25) on the way in and went to find a spot. We found a spot in Bear Loop (site 9) with a beautiful view of the lake. There are cards at the different sites to show you if they are reserved or not. If not, you can take your pick of the ones available. We quickly put up our tents while we still had light and headed back out to the local store / gas station at the intersection of 158 and 395. It closes at 8PM most nights and has a cafe and deli that closes at 7PM. The store has all the basic staples you could need last minute. We bought wood, bacon, chili beans, bread, cup of noodles, water, beer, and random snacks. We didn't pack food beforehand because this was the ass end of our extended weekend trip. The store came through for us. The bathrooms were clean with flushing toilets and sinks and were just a little walk away from Bear Loop in the Gull Loop. Maybe 3-5 minutes at most. Toilet paper was plentiful, but no soap. Bring your own. We used the fire pit and its adjustable grate to cook on and stay warm around. There is also a BBQ grill and table bench combo at each site. The only thing I would have done differently would have been to pick a sight with at least one tree. Ours was completely exposed and the morning sun became very hot quickly. The silver lining here was that the view of the lake was beautiful from our spot and would be at any of the sites 1-12. The view of the stars and the sheer number that are visible here was breathtaking. We did have night visitors a few sites down from ours. We heard the bears banging the bear lockers for a few minutes and the campers in that area shoo-ing them away. They must have cut out after that. Found out in the morning it was a Mama and 2 of her cubs. Do NOT leave any food out period. The lake water was crisp and refreshing and would have been great to swim in. Crystal clear but plenty of rocks and pebbles. Water shoes would be recommended for those with sensitive feet. All in all, I would definitely come back. read more

We chose to camp here because it was the closest campground near Yosemite National Park that was not full (we weren't aware that most of the campsites in Yosemite have to be booked at least six months in advance). Even though it was quite a drive away from the park (approximately two hours to the valley), it was worth every penny we spent. The campsite was surrounded by mountains that were still snow capped during late June and it was beautiful for star gazing. Also, the comfort stations were incredibly clean and the park host (Bonnie) was very attentive. Firewood works on an honor system here ($6.00 for a very nice bundle...way cheaper than any other campsite I have been to in California) and there is a coin operated shower business within walking distance. Overall, this campsite was amazing. read more

It was a lovely place to camp, near a little town and near a beautiful lake. There are tons of day hikes around the area, and it's a great place to camp when Yosemite is filled up. 20-25 minutes from the Yosemite entrance. They have a little store on site, bathrooms, and were even having some events (a little music concert I think). Lovely little place. read more

Oh Ridge is a great campground and we stayed there several times last summer. If you do your homework using some of the camp site photo sites you can figure out which site is best suited for your needs before booking...... and for all you animal lovers who were disappointed about no dogs on the beach...there is a separate beach adjacent to the main beach that is for dogs. Right at the entrance to the campground is a dirt road (to the right) that takes you down to it.....our dogs loved it. read more

If you like camping close enough to hear your neighbor fart, you'll love this place! Spots are tiny! I recommend driving there as a walk in opposed to making a reservation. We ended up changing locations to a spot that was away from the crowd. On our third night we had a group move in a few spots away. 8 very intoxicated men. Yelling, fighting, singing, and music blasting till 2am. Luckily the wind was blowing so damn hard it drowned out most of their noise, but the parting did contribute to a sleepless night. I thought for sure a campground host would make their way over to put a stop to it but never did. Now about the wind..... if you are tent camping CHECK THE WEATHER!! My weather app said wind gusts of 20mph, but it had to be more like 50mph ALL night long. We actually left 3 days early because the wind was too much to take. The campground itself is very well maintained and the staff is friendly. And there are many resident deer. I will never stay there again due to such small sites and the lack of night patrol from hosts. read more

Oh Ridge is a beautiful campground right next to the immaculate aqua blue June Lake! We had a lovely view of the lake and at night the stars shimmered across the lake. We were in bear loop so the restrooms were a bit of a walk, but we always love camping at Oh Ridge before we head to Yosemite or Tahoe. We enjoyed the stars and our campground. We should have just stayed out along the road in the national forest. For $25 a night, one would expect more - maybe even anything. Bathrooms in our loop were closed for no reason. Our picnic table (which we could not move) was literally 4 feet from our neighbors tent. On the other side, the neighbors fire pit was about 10 feet from our tent with smoke blowing in from the fire. Note that even though the reservations say you can have two cars per site, they charge you $5 per night for that extra car.Only redeeming feature is the beach and the view of the mountains - both of which you can have without putting your tent on this gravel patch. read more

It's the first campground coming into the June loop from Los Angeles so it's nice to see the sign right away after a long drive. Great campground for $25 a night (last time I checked) and pretty much all the lots are nice and semi private. Good layout. You can set up your RV or tent and not be bumping elbows with campers next to you. Bathrooms are as expected. No frills just basic necessities and kept clean for the most part. Keep in mind some people just suck and are inconsiderate of others so all bathrooms are susceptible to being less than perfect. I've been here and saw lots of deer hanging around. The walk down to June lake beach area is very easy. There's also a general store at the next campground over for my ice cream/candy soda fix lol. I'd give the campground 5 stars but it does tend to get windy there. Then again the entire June loop has wind because it's a canyon for the most part. Otherwise great place for cheap! read more

Aug 11 - 28, 2013 we stayed at OH Ridge Bear Loop 14. We were delighted to find our space had an excellent view of the lake and just a few steps to the water spigot. A fellow camper said we could have drained our gray water into the surrounding plantings, but i don't know that for a fact. We had morning sun wake us up and afternoon shade under our awning. The showers are a drive away but adequate at 1.50 for 7 minute hot shower. The restroom is a bit of a walk over to the next loop. We had lovely afternoon breezes, a large area with a picnic table and fire ring behind our trailer. We had a fire every night and campers in adjacent spot would come over to our spot to watch the lake change color with the light. Our dog loved the dog beach because it was shallow and smooth pebbles underfoot and was separated from the people beach by a swampy area, so we didn't get into trouble. We fished mostly at Gull Lake with 2 lb leader and easily caught our limit for a fish dinner that evening. We will definitely stay here again next Summer. We would also consider Bear Loop 1 and 2 for lake views. Also Gull Loop 155 -159 which were closer to the Restrooms. read more
