Ohm Spa is easily the best spa in NYC. I honestly cannot recommend this place enough! I was able to go to the new larger location on the 5th floor and it is huge...however, they still managed to make it feel warm, cozy, and most importantly very comfortable!! The entire staff is so friendly and professional - it's the real reason I continue to go back. The massages and therapy have done wonders for my lower back. As a frequent business traveler, the long distance commutes have been wearing down my body. Luckily I met Kathy and her staff, and have started incorporating Ohm Spa into my regular wellness routine. I have never met an entire staff (from the top down) that was so genuinely concerned for the well-being of all their customers. After possibly 50+ review reading session from varying spas, I decided on OHM. This would be my first facial and my boyfriend's very first deep tissue massage so I had to take extra measures in making sure things wouldn't be awkward. We were quite nervous the week prior to our appointments, reading the craziest online experience stories, Having arrived at the spa, everyone from the receptionist, quite possibly the owner himself and the therapists that assisted us were so kind (very gentle). They never pushed any products on us. My facial with Britta was absolutely WONDERFUL. Initially I was palm sweating nervous about future scarring, my possible reaction to the creams, and of course the idea that I would walk out red faced from all the treatment. However, Britta helped answer and find solutions for the type of skin I had. Her voice has a 106.7 lite fm tone to it - which makes it very soothing and easy to listen to her during the facial. She speaks at the most appropriate times, never breaking your moment of relaxation. I had eyelash extensions done and so I was quite nervous about them falling out from the steam but she took extra measures to make sure she wouldnt disturb them. I mean my skin is baby butt tight and its glowing! The products were all organic and really the extractions were not bad at all. Will be back next month for my next facial! Now on to my boyfriends massage ... he was quite nervous himself considering how sensitive and ticklish he normally is. Post massage, he couldnt stop raving about how professional and comfortable he felt throughout. Im just grateful to Ohm and his massage therapist for making his first experience such a wonderful one. This spa is popular but you never get that crowded feeling. The lounge area is very comfortable and calming pre / post sessions. Despite the fact that this place is in a neighborhood you would probably have no other reason to go to (especially on a Saturday), it certainly is worth it. Just walking through the door calms me down. The staff is warm and friendly and the treatments are top-notch. the therapist who did my facial not only specially tailored the treatment to match my skin type, but recomended product lines (not sold by the spa) that she thought would be useful. i also got a massage that made me fall asleep on the table (the best!) Its smaller than somewhere like Bliss spa, so there are trade offs. You don't get all of the little amenities and the changing room isnt more than a closet that patrons have to take turn using. overall, a wonderful experience. read more

Now I know not to expect that say a scented hanger will take me to Narnia each time I open my closet because that's conceptualizing, fun, make believe... Until it becomes an all to real experience. I've been to Ohm spa before. This time I wanted to go back and try their new digs. Different now is that they have the entire floor. The minute i walked in, I smiled because I really liked what they did with the place. Oh but the moment I walked through the chocolate curtains, I truly was transported. Beyond the chocolate colored curtains I was in Zen land! This truly felt like Ohm spa's secret gift, the city's secret portal. I'm glad I took the suggestion of a staff member to leave my phone behind. My life was put away, and after my sports massage I stayed for hours. In the end a pleasant staff member gave me some advise on how to create my own zen space back in the real world. I bought a few products and now remember my experience at the new Ohm just like those commercials on tv ;-) read more

For christmas, my boss got us a certificate for a manicure and pedicure at Ohm Spa. I must say when we first arrived I was taken aback by the ambiance and was expecting to have a great experience. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the manicure and pedicure we received. I thought it was too expensive and was better off getting my nails done at CoCo nails in 20 minutes for half the price. But I was hopeful, because they told me if my nail polish chipped in 3 days they would "re-do" the nail. Ofcourse, my nails chipped and I went back 3 days later and they just re touched where my nails had chipped. Since I was already there, I thought, why not try the chair massage - again, very disappointed. I like a hard massage, but this lady literally just rubbed my back for 10 minutes (for $19 dollars = rip off). I hear good things about the actual massages though, and I may have to go back to try one... but I would have to think twice about wasting my time. read more

This place is fabulous, I highly recommend it. The front desk staff is very welcoming and make you feel comfortable right as you walk in. For all those who say the space is small, I am happy to report that they have moved to the 5th floor and have a much larger dressing room and enormous lounge area as compared to the 7th floor. I really appreciate the sort of separated lounge areas - I like to sit in quiet/peace before a treatment and not hear others chatting, so I sat in the smaller room. Lounging before and after with fresh fruits definitely makes the experience. The facials are great and they work with you to make sure you don't leave splotchy based on your skin type. The technician works with you at the end to suggest products (I even got samples)! Every masseuse I've had has been friendly, very calming. They are not upselling services to you or talking your ear off. The rooms are smallish, but tall, warm and welcoming. You can sometimes hear the faint creaking of the radiators, but that's just charming New York City and I don't mind it at all. Can I move in? read more

Amazing service, massage and facial were fantastic! Specifics are... Massage: definitely opt for the hot stone add-on, worth the little bit extra if you have serious tension. The essential oils they use anyway as part of the regular service really help with perfecting the overall experience. Facial: what can I say?! Just wonderful. As a regular HydraFacial client back home it was fantastic to have a completely different experience here. Multiple serums, masks, cleansers, extra care for exactly what my skin needed. Don't be afraid to ask about the steps, education is encouraged and helps them tailor your experience to exactly what you need. There is no push on you for product sales either, very nice. I am going to make a few purchases however ;) loved the Marula Oil as a more antioxidant option with a lighter feel than Argon Oil. Beautiful relaxing place, great ambience. Definitely pricey but worth it. It's quiet so not the most appropriate place for a large noisy bachelorette party, but we made do. The staff was very accommodating and we still managed to play some games. I appreciated too that they kept things moving and even though we had 11 girls, there were enough staff members to take care of us in a timely manner. I've had two massages here and a couples massage and they were all awesome. Excellent deep-tissue on a very comfortable massage table. The design of the spa is gorgeous. It's such a creative use of vertical space, lighting, color, flow, aromatherapy, feng shui, and music. I can go on. It's a feast for all of your senses You really feel like you have left New York City and have been transported into another world where NYC stress, sirens, and honking cars don't exist. This spa was heavenly. If I could rate it 4 1/2 stars, I would. I had a 90 minute massage followed by a body scrub and my therapist was excellent. She was experienced and effective and I left feeling relaxed and revived. The ambience of the waiting room was terrific too. Very soothing and quiet. I will definitely return. The only thing keeping this from a five star rating is that the body scrub was limited to full back but only lower arms and legs (not full arms and legs). This is due to the fact that there are no shower facilities in which to rinse off, so the therapists personally clean the scrub off with towels. The scrub is only partial body to keep the mess down. It is still a wonderful treatment, but something to be aware of going in. Other than that, superb in every way! read more

I went here for a custom massage on my birthday. The massage was phenomenal! My masseuse knew a lot about the way your muscles and body work. (i think all of the masseuses here are trained physical therapists). I've been experiencing back pain for years, and she knew exactly what to do. This is definitely the best massage I've had in NY. The only caveat is that its pretty pricey. I think I ended up paying $165 for 1 hr and 15 min massage (the extra 15 min was part of a promotional deal). Definitely recommend if you want a splurge!! read more

I love this spa - twice I been for a couple's massage with my boyfriend and both times had an out of this world experience massage with Nickie ( Or Nicky ? Sorry if I mispell your name). The quality of massage both times was definitely EXTRAORDINARY - we get couple's massages frequently so too many times I enjoyed the ambiance at the spa but the actual massage sucked. With Nickie, it's all around amazing, she has a talent and makes you melt in her hands. The next day, I feel super relaxed and my body feels amazing. The ambiance is nice and I love the fruit/snacks they have for patrons before your massage. We definitely found OUR SPA and will be coming back. Truly the best spa in NYC!!! Been here a few times and every time I come there is a surprise for me. I like how they renovate the new space. Much more space and the scent truly makes you never wanting to leave. My massage therapist (Crystal) and facial therapist (Laurie) did an awesome job! Crystal was very nice and detailed because she asked what needs to be worked on and what type of pressure needed. I like deep pressure but at some point the pressure might be too strong and she just knows when to lighten it up a bit. She totally got rid of the knots on my neck and back. I was so comfortable that I took a nice nap during the whole massage. Totally recommend her! Laurie was very nice and she make me felt so comfortable. Very bubbly and sweet! She was very gentle and catered to my request. She did a thorough extraction and make my skin felt baby soft! She is very knowledgeable on skincare and provided great recommendations that tailored to my skin type. I will definitely go back to her again!!! My experience in Ohm Spa is always amazing! The environment makes me so relaxed and you get to enjoy fruits, dark chocolates, and cookies... This turned out to be one of the best spa experiences I've had, and I've been to quite a few. The spa is is intimate, quiet, and relaxing. The massage and facial were amazing. Always outstanding, ohm spa is the absolute best. I've been here many times for facials and every aesthetician is so fantastic. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the knowledgable, warm, and helpful facialists at ohm. The service is wonderful all around and the atmosphere is so calming and comfortable. I have a lot of skin troubles, especially with acne, and have tried everything under the sun, and many many facials, but the ones at ohm are the absolute best!! This place is worth the money. The experience is just so relaxing and wonderful from start to finish-even waiting for the treatment is stellar. (There is a relaxation area with plush couches and awesome snacks) The facials are great, and the aestheticians really know their stuff and are great about giving recommendations/making sure you get the best out of the experience. I haven't had much experience with their massages, but I once gifted my friend who experiences chronic back pain a massage from ohm, and she's been raving about it ever since! This spa is phenomenal! I planned a bachelorette party here, for a conservative Muslim bride, and was amazed by the respect and care taken, to ensure she felt comfortable throughout the day. Kathy, the spa owner, made sure that no men would be around the spa during our party so that the bride could take off her scarf and let down her hair. As soon as we walked through the doors, we were hit with that relaxing "spa smell" and everywhere we looked, there were candles! We were greeted by two, very sweet and welcoming, women at the front desk who took our coats and had us fill out some forms in a small waiting area. While we did that, the staff setup a small table for all of our party's treats and goodies in the nail area of the spa. After this, we were taken into the locker room to change in our robes and then given time to relax at our party table and in the lounge area (where there were additional treats to munch on). One by one, we were greeted by our treatment specialists and taken our separate ways for our treatments. The room where I had my massage was much more spacious than I expected because of its high ceiling. The massage itself was out-of-this-world! I felt completely relaxed didn't want it to end. After the massage, I joined the party in the nail spa area again and sometime later our nail treatments began. The manicures were great but what we really enjoyed were the large massage chairs we sat in for our pedicures! As our day came to an end, we were joined again by Kathy who took some great pictures of us and made sure that we had enjoyed everything. I love this place so, so much. I wish I could get a massage here every week but it is prohibitively expensive to get one even once a month. Alas, it is perfection. I just returned from a massage at Ohm Spa, and needless to say, it was a 5 star experience all the way. When I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the two women at the front desk. One of them took my jacket and sat me down on a sofa to fill out some forms. When I finished, I was escorted to the locker room where I put on my robe and then I headed to the lounge waiting area. It was a very relaxing room and there were some nice, healthy snacks for those who were interested. A little while later, my massage therapist came into the room, welcomed me, and took me into the room where I would get my massage. I had arranged for a 60 minute Shiatsu. It was a wonderful massage. The therapist, Nickie G., was sensational, and she really worked out the knots in my back that had been bothering me for quite some time. The only thing I regret was not being able to purchase a longer package (I called in the day of the appointment, which makes it harder to schedule longer appointments). Nickie was very friendly and accommodating and eased me into the process very well. After that lightning quick hour went by, NIckie escorted me back to the loung area with a cool glass of fruit infused water, which was quite refreshing. Possibly the best massage I have ever received! It was truly massage therapy, and my masseuse (Raffia) went above and beyond in every way to get the tension out of my neck, shoulders, and back. She is a true professional and was sensitive to my individual needs. It was well worth the price and I have already booked my next appointment. After looking at multiple spa packages Ohm spa seemed to fit what I was looking for ( I treated my mother to a rare spa outing). The spa was nice, and quiet, the front desk people were accommodating, and polite. The ambiance was creative, my mother was impressed with how nicely the loft was put together. I like knowing that my mother was happy, and I am getting my money's worth. **The only thing that bothered me about the spa is that, the nail technician cut my mothers medium length finger nails to the point they were stubby. and she was told from the beginning "PLEASE DO NOT CUT MY NAILS SHORT!" The nail tech was apologetic and said that she would give a free French manicure for the mistake. I am pretty positive the French came with my spa package..... Anyways, I do recommend clearly expressing a few times to the nail tech, No short nails if you don't want stubs. When I went to make the appointment the young lady who took care of me was professional and corteous which is a definitely plus with me. My daughter and son gave me a Mothers Day gift of a day at Ohm Spa & Lounge. I had never had a massage treatment before. This place is fantastic. I was treated like a celebrity. We were greeted by the owner, we were not sure of that at the time. The entire staff were very welcoming and professional. I had such a good time I left there with a brand new body. The place smell so good. I was escorted to the changing area after fulling out two short forms. My name was on a locker which contained a robe, a cover for my facial and slippers. I had a whole body massage which I needed in the worse way. Crystal was in charge of my body massage and she did a fantastic job. After that was finish I was whisked away by Anastasia for my facial. I tell you this lady has sensuous hands because she made my face and shoulders feel so, so good. I did not feel rushed in any way. After my treatment was over I sat with my daughter who had accompanied me and was allowed to use the lounge while she waited for me, in the lounge. The lady who had greeted us on arrival came into the lounge and inquired how my stay was. My daughter asked if she was the owner to which she said yes. She knelt down and converse with us for about 20 or so minutes. I was laughing the entire time. She said you must have had a good time because you are full of giggles. She had taken some pictures on arrival. Later while we were having dinner I received a text on my phone which contained the pictures and a very nice message.The message said It was such a pleasure meeting you both! Just fantastic!! I arrived late because I was stuck in traffic I called them and they were very understanding and nice. It was a Thursday morning, I was the only one there, i didn't wait a second, they provided me with a locker, sleepers and bathrobe. And the masseuse came to pick me up right after I changed, I don't remember her name but she was amazing, her voice was soothing and the 60min massage was one of the best I ever had ! I also appreciate that I wasn't oily at the end ( she massage then use the sheet to massage more and wipe, very smart !) 5 stars for the post marathon massage (15% off for marathon finishers). Tiffany was my massage therapist, and she was fantastic. Probably the best massage I've experienced! At the end, she reviewed which muscle groups were tense and needed further stretching. I decided to add on a mani pedi, which cost $79. It was just fine, but I didn't feel the experience was worth that much. The polish is already starting to chip, and although you can go within 3 days to get it fixed, this place isn't in my 'hood and I'd have to spend money to travel here. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place for a massage. The lounge area where you wait for your therapist was nice as well. The fruits, dark chocolates, trail mix, and Oreo cookies were great! And yes I had a little bit of everything! read more

I had a very nice spa day on Friday for my birthday at Ohm Spa. I have been here several times before and always leave feeling relaxed. I had a 90 minute custom massage and a mani/pedi. The snacks are great and the space is very clean. I love that they show movies in the nail area. I still remember what I watched last year. They also take their time doing the mani/pedi, which I appreciate considering the price. My only complaint from this most recent visit was one of the nail technicians was standing right behind my chair chatting with the person that was doing my nails, over my head. After I realized that she was talking for a while -- more than 5-7 minutes, I politely said that she shouldn't do that while someone is having a treatment. She apologized, but stood nearby smirking for a few minutes before eventually walking away. read more

Note that the location has changed and the sweet old spot no longer exists. The temporary location is not a spa. It's in a beautiful church on the outside but the space itself looks like a converted accountants office. It is not relaxing. Most of the pictures you see on yelp are of the old location and not the new space. There is no proper waiting room. The treatment room is not spa worthy at all. There was a piece of paper taped to the ceiling in my treatment room and when I opened my eyes all I could see is bankers boxes full of what I presumed to be files. It's also pretty warm inside. For the price, this is definitely not worth it and not the spa that it used to be. At a similar price point, try Savor Spa. It is unfortunate because I did like this place before but I will definitely not return to the temporary space unless they also start offering a temporary discount. read more

Awesome Paula! So after a not so pleasant experience with another spa, which I reviewed, I called Ohm Spa to book an appointment for a facial. I had previously had two facials at Ohm Spa in the past and a couple of hot stone massages as well. I very much enjoyed the massages but I wasn't bowled over by the facials...sorry. But I have always been made to feel super welcome and comfortable at Ohm so I was willing to give the facial another go. I called pretty much last minute and managed to get an appointment with Paula for later that day, someone I never worked with before. I was a bit apprehensive at first because I have sensitive skin which scars easily and I have had a few awful facials with significant scaring in the past. Fortunately that was not the case this time. Paula was knowledgeable, friendly, honest and funny. She also did not try to "sell" me on products and a ton of extras. Even when she presented a few different options for facials, I did not feel pressured to select the most expensive. The facial went really well. She explained everything and even the extractions weren't terrible. I can already see improvement in my skin since my facial last week and I definitely plan to return to Ohm again for another facial with Paula. read more

I had a really great experience here. I should start off by saying that I don't particularly like to be touched, especially by people I don't know so Spas are always a little more unnerving than they should be for me. I received a gift card from Ohm as a Christmas gift so I decided to get my very first facial. They asked that I arrive 15 minutes early to get ready and of course I missed the train due to an expired monthly metro card. Once I was on the train a sick passenger made my commute even longer. The receptionist politely called me to ask if I was still going to make it as I was exiting the subway and said it was fine that I was running late. I always hear horror stories about Spa Nazi's canceling appointments so this was reassuring. When I arrived the place was small and cozy but not crowded and uncomfortable. The music and lighting were perfectly relaxing. The receptionist took my coat and gave me slippers and a robe and asked me to change (lockers included) and go to the waiting room and relax while I filled out paperwork about my skin. They had beverages and snacks in the waiting room but there were three girls in there talking loudly to each other so that was a bit distracting. The waiting room is small (6-7 seats all facing each other). I was still able to tune them out an try to relax. The actual facial was really awesome. The esthetician really helped me understand what was going on with my skin and how to correct it. After my consolation she cleansed and exfoliated my skin and then let steam run over it. It was a bit painful clearing my massive amounts of "congestion" but she prepared me for it and thankfully asked me if I had any plans that night so I didn't go out with crazy red skin. After that she gave me a honey mask and used some type of high tech device to oxygenate skin. She then followed with another cleaner and a moisturizer. My face is still a bit red the next day but it feels amazing and clean. She gave me a regimen to follow and did not push products on me which I appreciate even though I ended up buying the micro exfoliant she used. The esthetician was amazing and not overly calm (I feel that sometimes spas and the employees will have a fake sense of calm about them. We were laughing and making jokes). I was immediately relaxed with my first step into this place. It smells great and the receptionist was super friendly, but in a calm and relaxing way (if that makes sense). Lockers are pre-assigned to you before you arrive so there is no trouble getting in to that robe and slippers. My fiancé and I relaxed for awhile in the comfy, cozy lounge before we were called into our room. There were plenty of snacks while we waited, and I loved the hot lavender towels too! My massage was GREAT! I asked for my hip to be loosened up--my flexor is very tight and it hurts when I work out. I left there feeling like I was floating, and loved the use of aromatherapy. My fiancé was so relaxed that he knocked out, I could hear him snoring. We were presented with chocolates and skin cream as we left our room to relax in the lounge once again. There were so many small details about this place that really made it awesome. The service was excellent and priced reasonably. The masseuses really listen to what you want and clearly take pride in their work. The whole place was clean and lovely. If I had to make one suggestion, it would be to expand!
