As with most places in Cary, Oiso is located in a generic strip mall and doesn't stand out too much - until you pop inside for a meal. I think this is one of the best sushi (if not the best) places in Cary with a big menu, fast service, and reasonable prices for the quality. We came in for an early 5pm dinner on a Sunday and the restaurant was already filled with locals. We were seated quickly with friendly service and ordered the gyoza, piano roll, and oiso roll. The parents are extremely friendly, but the younger servers are just alright, they seem to make smart comments amongst each other which is kind of off putting. Met my friend here for lunch while in town. Cary has changed a lot since I last visited so was happy to see this Asian place in the strip mall. Started with salmon rolls which though fresh, lacked real flavor. I didn't mind too much since I was pretty hungry. For my meal, I ordered the hot stone bulgogi bibimbap. The meat was flavored well, but everything else was pretty bland. I'd definitely add the hot sauce to give it some kick. We eat at Oiso a few times a month and they have yet to disappoint. The sushi is always fresh and well prepared and their entrees are great as well. So far, Oiso has my favorite sushi in the local area. The restaurant has an unpretentious and cozy vibe, and isn't crazy expensive. I've tried 3 or 4 rolls and they each had just the right portion size, interesting flavors, quality ingredients and they were consistently well put together (not sloppy/falling apart like a lot places). The service is very quick and friendly, and we go here regularly for the bibimbap as well. They don't have as many Korean dishes as some other restaurants but the bibimbap is my wife's favorite out of all the restaurants in the area we've tried (she's Korean and has pretty high standards :D). The owner always goes out of her way to make pleasant conversation and make us feel welcome, and we really appreciate it. read more

I ordered a bento box, which came with a specialty roll (I chose the Oiso roll), 6 pieces of sashimi (2 pieces of salmon, 2 pieces of tuna, and 2 pieces of albacore for me), and 4 pieces of nigiri (salmon, tuna, shrimp, scallops for me), veggie tempura, and a salad. The quality of sushi was decent - I liked the albacore the best, and the tuna was pretty good as well. All for $30 - not a bad deal. My wife ordered the crunchy salmon, which was not bad, but I personally feel like the special rolls tend to have too much sauce, which masks the flavor of the fish, and this was no exception. The sashimi salmon and scallops practically melted on my tongue as I bit into each. My daughter raved about the tofu and udon noodles in her broth with tempura vegetables. She added lots of chili sauce that they brought to the table. The seaweed salad and sushi tower were a delight to the eye, and so tasty to eat. Hubs said he'd prefer more flavor in his pork bibimbap. I found my beef bibimbap perfectly flavored for my taste. I could enjoy the vegetable flavors, ginger, fried egg, fried sticky rice just how I like it, small pieces of tender beef. I had a chirashi bowl and I think it is worth it. Thick and fresh cut sashimi was nice. Notice that most employees there are Koreans so the style is more Korean instead of traditional Japanese, and it means they also have some Korean food on the menu. This gem of a restaurant is tucked away in a strip mall. It's quite small but it was packed for a Saturday night. Friends ordered the crispy salmon appetizer and the salmon kani. Both were delicious. The salmon kani was juicy and tasted very fresh. I ordered the spicy salmon don, which is a dish of spicy salmon on a bed of sushi rice (i.e. a poke bowl). It was very good. I am VERY picky about my sushi. I used to live in a city where great sushi was hard to find, but I've noticed that the Triangle offers many fantastic sushi restaurants. That being said, there are very few restaurants who easily stand above the rest, and Oiso is easily one of them. Not only are the prices great, but there isn't a sushi roll I've disliked. All of the ingredients are fresh and the service is fantastic. I have visited Oiso twice and every time I go, I swear I'll try the bibimbap but I haven't yet. The girls wanted sushi & I wanted to go some place different. Stumbled upon Oiso on Yelp. The restaurant is an unassuming little place tucked into a Kroger shopping center...never knew this was there! We were greeted promptly & seated. We ordered the seafood pajeon (pancake) to start. The pancake was deliciously crispy on the edges & studded with chewy pieces of mixed seafood. We also ordered the bulgogi bibimbap, 2 special rolls & chirashi sushi. The bibimbap was a very generous portion filled with fresh vegetables & a generous portion of bulgogi. This was served with a banchan of kimchi, marinated daikon, seasoned green beans & fish cakes. The sushi dishes were served with a bowl of miso soup. The chirashi sushi was a very generous portion of sashimi fish on top of sushi rice. There was tuna, salmon, snapper, seared tuna(?), shrimp, octopus, unagi, tamago, kani, seaweed salad & octopus salad. The sashimi pieces were well prepared & generous. The two specialty rolls (Viagra roll & spicy sashimi) were very generous portions of 10 large pieces each. Be forewarned, the spicy sashimi is very spicy but absolutely delicious. I would give you an idea of what the Viagra roll tasted like but my daughter wouldn't give them up. The service is excellent but it did take a while for the sushi. It's well worth the wait since the place was very busy, & it was obvious that this is family run with the father(?) manning the sushi station. Everything was expertly prepared! This place is legit. I love bibimbap but their sushi is some of the freshest and most affordable around. It's delicious. Sort of small space in a strip mall but I drive half and hour to come here from Pittsboro. The waiter who is always here (younger guy) is super attentive and nice. If I could give this place 100 stars, I would. This place is by far the best place I've ever been, from the owners to the waiters to the chef, everyone is so sweet. You can just tell they care. The food is always amazing. My husband and I have been going here since they first opened, when we were still dating. We would come here often and we were never disappointed. We were so sad when we had to move away. But every time we come to town to visit family, we would come here- and without fail, they remember us! I guess you can say this place holds such sentimental memories and we are biased but at the same time, there's a reason we keep coming back.
