    Seaweed salad
    Tina B.

Last week in Raleigh, North Carolina, we went to lunch here a group of four and enjoy some delicious sushi. The restaurant was nice inside a shopping center. The host/server was nice and sweet. The sushi was delicious, taste great, and the seaweed salad was my favorite. I don't know what type of dressing that was used on it, but it was so delicious. If you love sushi and you never tried seaweed salad. I recommend going in here.

Phenomenal service and fun happy hour specials if you like drinks! The service is what stood out the most here. Sean was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Never left us wanting. We weren't super hungry when we dropped by so we just had some happy hour sparkling wine and shared a couple rolls. Flavor was good with both rolls but the salmon roe nigiri was quite small. Otherwise, fresh fish and good flavor!

I've been going to Sushi Suyu's Apex location for YEARS so I was thrilled about their new location in Brier Creek. A close friend of mine goes to Orange Theory in the same shopping center so I got regular progress updates leading up to the opening. Since they officially opened, I've had a chance to dine in a few times as well as get takeout several times. Compared to the Apex location, the Brier Creek location is much more spacious. I find the service to be friendly and consistent. For takeout, you can call to order ahead. I don't think you can go wrong with any of their specialty sushi rolls so definitely go for those for your first time!

Solid 5 Stars for dine-in, delivery was okay A friend and I recently stopped in for dinner, and We were impressed. We each ordered two rolls (so four total), and every single one was excellent--super fresh, beautifully presented, and full of interesting flavor combinations that actually worked instead of competing with each other. The restaurant itself felt clean, cozy, and even festive thanks to the holiday décor. Service was warm and attentive without feeling rushed. Overall, a lovely dine-in experience. We've also tried carry-out once, and while the rolls were still good, they didn't quite hit the same level as dining in. The flavors didn't mesh as well, and the freshness wasn't as noticeable. Texture was a bit mushy for those rolls. Not a dealbreaker, but definitely worth noting. If you're planning to try this place (and you should!), I highly recommend dining in to get the full, fresh, beautifully-balanced experience.

Came here for lunch and it was very solid overall. The bento box was a really good deal for the lunch special, with big pieces of sashimi and good portion sizes. The gyoza were tasty, and the KFC (Korean fried chicken) was surprisingly good - crispy and flavorful. The poke was alright - not my favorite since it had a bit too much sriracha. The wasabi was legit though and had a real, sharp kick. The interior is pretty spacious and they have a lot of seating inside but the tables have a decent amount of space between them so you don't feel like you're sitting next to everyone else in the restaurant. Staff are also very nice.

Nice place. Very clean. Server was very helpful. Why wife and I had lunch boxes: spicy salmon and bulgogi. Excellent presentation and well worth the price. Sushi was great too. Will definitely come back.

I hang out with a group of folks who like to try out different restaurants every few weeks. They suggested this place, and it's sushi - of course I'm gonna go! It's in a newer shopping center, and the place is very nicely appointed inside and out. The dining area is mostly screened from view when you arrive, which is nice to avoid distraction, but frustrating when you are trying to find your party. Once seated and presented with a menu, I thought things would be OK, but none of the rolls listed had any familiarity. There was no Rainbow roll, dragon roll, etc. They are all given new names and new combinations. After some discussion with the waitress, I was able to make a selection for something that would be along my preferences, but until it arrived I had no idea whether it would or not. Thankfully, it did. The flavors were good, though the sauces weren't as deeply nuanced as the traditional flavors of the sushi bars I have been to. It was good, but quite different. Others in the group had other options, which were all well received. We will probably revisit this place in a few months, and I'll try to update this review, but for now, I'd just make sure you know what your desired flavors are and how to communicate them to the waitstaff, because you won't find your words on the current menu. It's still good, and worth the trip.

My brother was in town and he loves sushi! We ordered a few different rolls for takeout! Everthing was nicely labeled. Their menu had a lot of different rolls than I have seen at other places. My favorites were the T&T roll and the spicy tuna rice bites. Definitely will eat here again! Next time as an eat in guest!

When we were in North Carolina, we made our expectations lower so we wouldn't be disappointed but this place far exceeded them. The food was amazing, the cuts were thick and were very fresh. The service was great and we got our food fast. The space was very clean and inviting. Would definitely come back!!

I was very pleasantly surprised by my visit! It's hidden away in the HT shopping plaza near Brier creek. It was cute inside, not fancy but causal feeling with the open space concept. It was pretty cold inside, but fine with a jacket! The food was very delicious and service was great. The bulgogi burger surprised me, it isn't like a regular burger but pieces of meat in a bun. The flavor was very good of the meat and my partner loved it! I prefer that kind of dish with rice but it was fun to try. The sushi roll was so delicious and so were the dumplings. I got mackerel to test out their nigiri and I loved it so ordered the sampler but didn't enjoy that as much as they put an incredible amount of wasabi under the fish, that was all I could taste. Clean inside and nice playing. I would come back and bring others.

first time visiting suyu and the food did not disappoint! we came on a week day and it wasn't that busy so we were seated quickly. the environment is that of an upscale sushi restaurant with reasonable prices. the food was delicious. you really can't go wrong with anything in the menu. we highly recommend the tuna nachos or the gochujang yellow tail for appetizer. we ordered several rolls but our favorite was the veggie roll and the gillty pleasure roll. staff were super friendly and quick to assist us. would definitely come back again in the future.

Sushi Suyu was number 1 on the list of Sushi restaurants on Yelp and that's why we chose it. It is very lovely inside, well designed, interesting and intimate without feeling crowded. We had four delicious rolls that two of us shared, it came to our table quickly and was beautiful. We ate every bite, every grain of rice. Our server was fantastic, efficient and not hovering. It was a fantastic experience!

Five stars, no hesitation…read more I heard about Sono Sushi through Resy and finally made it in. It's located in downtown Raleigh on Fayetteville Street, right next to the ABC 11 studios, easy to find and a great spot if you're already downtown. The ambiance is great and fits the food well. There's a nice mix of seating, tables along the windows looking out onto the street, high top tables, traditional dining tables, and a sushi bar if you want to sit up close and watch everything being made. It feels lively without being loud, and works well whether you're there for a date night or a more casual meal. We started with the Aburi appetizer, torched salmon belly, ooba, salmon roe, Japanese seabream, yuzu kosho, and ponzu, and it was outstanding. Everything worked together perfectly, rich, bright, and balanced. I also ordered ikura and ebi, even though I meant to order ama ebi, but no regrets there. Still excellent. We shared the Poke Roll with wakame, avocado, cucumber, mango, tuna, salmon, hamachi, and Sono poke sauce, and it was very good, fresh, flavorful, and well composed without being overdone. My wife ordered the spicy miso ramen and loved it. The broth was the star, deep and comforting, and the pork chashu pieces were massive, in a good way. I went with the chicken katsu curry, panko fried chicken thigh with house curry and koshihikari rice, something I haven't had since Little Tokyo in LA a few years ago, and it tasted like home. Comforting, familiar, and exactly what I was hoping for. For drinks, I ordered the "SONO? SO-YES!" entirely because of the name, but also because I love blood orange. Casamigos Blanco tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, coconut cream, simple syrup, and blood orange juice, it was excellent. My only complaint is that I wanted more of it. My wife got the Okinawa Spritz, a play on an Aperol spritz with passionfruit, and it was even better than the original. We finished with the yuzu cheesecake. I debated between that and the ube cheesecake, but since this is a Japanese restaurant, yuzu felt right, and it absolutely delivered. Overall, everything from the food to the drinks hit. This is a place I would happily return to, and honestly, I'm already looking forward to the next visit.
