    Christmas roll Shrimp tempura roll
    Camryn C.

Was craving sushi and this really hit the spot. We started with the tempura and it was really good with two of everything, which made it a great appetizer to split. I ordered the Christmas roll after seeing the Yelp reviews and it was everything I expected and more. It's not listed on the menu since it's a seasonal item but they made it for me anyways. My friend got a shrimp tempura roll with avacado and cucumber. Was a little pricey but worth it. Highly recommend trying.

Birthday dinner party on the right.

We love it here! We eat here very often (since the kids were preschoolers). Now that they are no longer "kids", one of them wanted to have a dinner party for her milestone teen birthday with her friends and chose Genki. There is an area beside the sushi bar to the right as you enter the restaurant that was perfect for them. They had that area all to themselves, away from the main dining area. Li was absolutely awesome!! She made it such a wonderful experience and took care of my daughter and her friends like they were family. She checked on them often and made sure they had all they needed. We sat at a booth on the other side while the dinner party was going on and had dinner ourselves. Li would come by and let us know how they were doing. You can't go wrong with their hibachi dinners - my go to order. We also order the sushi, bento boxes and appetizers. The hot food comes out piping hot and fresh and the salad is chilled & delicious. The sushi is FAR SUPERIOR to the $5 deal in the supermarket next door. It is a night and day difference. We often call in an order just for the sushi, stop by and pick it up - no more supermarket sushi! It is important and a pleasure to support local business owners like Li and Jack. They work hard to provide excellent food and customer service. Taking pride in one's business/work is very rare these days and if you want to see it in action, be sure to go by Li and Jack's Genki Restaurant & Sushi Bar. Even their take out is better than anyone else's in the area. They really take care of their customers.

    Chicken Yakisoba

Decided to try this place out. I ordered the Chicken Yakisoba, and the hostess was very pleasant. Usually going to sushi places I don't expect non sushi dishes to really shine, just from other experiences, but this meal was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was very clean, nice atmosphere, and super quick (granted I was the only customer late at night lol) Will definitely be trying them again!

Really cool spot. We ordered to go. Sushi looks fresh, and there's a cooler spot to sit while waiting for them to prepare. The service is extremely fast and polite.

I've been here a few times now and I've tried a few different things. I probably wouldn't have tried them again if it weren't for my husband who loves this place. I tried their teriyaki chicken and would give that two stars, it was two pieces of very bland chicken breast drenched in teriyaki sauce, with rice and frozen vegetable medley in some translucent sauce that made them even more soggy. Next up, sushi. I love sushi and love a nice tuna or salmon roll. Presentation here is a 5/5 but flavor is 1/5. This was not good sushi at all. I can't really pinpoint what was wrong with it but it was so hard to enjoy, I threw it out. The one thing I enjoy here is their hibachi lunches/dinners. The chicken is good and the steak is of a good quality. This meal is overall tasty and what I get now from here when my husband is craving it. Good, fast , friendly service!

Everything was good but customer service was bad she literally didn't come to my table at all .

How is this place in business? Let my start by saying no sushi is bad sushi except for this place. I got the Philly roll, Las Vegas roll, fisherman's catch and spicy sashimi maki and paid ~$42 for it.... what a huge disappointment when I got home and opened the box. Take a look at the pics. Would you pay $42 for what I got? Grocery store sushi is better than this!! Now I've never been here before but I was able to distinguish which rolls were which by order of elimination. My spicy sashimi maki was literally shrimp tempura wrapped in nori with rice on the outside and sesame seeds. What??? They got the rest of the order right I am assuming but it all tasted meh. I paid in cash and was in a rush so I didn't ask for an itemized receipt but didn't get offered a regular receipt either so I have no idea whether I was overcharged. Based on their online menu, my total shoulda came out to around $35 but whatever. Lesson learned. Presentation -1/5 Order -1/5 Price -1/5 Taste -1.5/5 Don't waste your time

We have ordered many times from Genki and enjoy to support local restaurants. How disappointing is it when we order 13 rolls for a dinner with family and they drop the ball. We ordered with specifications because we had someone with Celiac's. They made errors in the order and they also made sub par rolls. I called the manager to let her know things didn't go well with our order. She was full of excuses and explanations and did not care to hear about the errors in our order. As a restaurant manager and chef (husband) in our house, it blows my mind the customer service we received. I always give the benefit of the doubt to local restaurants and give them the opportunity to right a wrong, but they weren't interested. Hurts me to do this, but you have to stand behind what you serve.

The food is mediocre, but the service was quick and staff was friendly, I'd give them 4 stars for that. We both felt the sushi was lacking something, the roll tasted ok. The fish was sliced pretty thin as topping. My friend's teriyaki rice was too salty, although the veggies was not flavored well and too hard for chewing, probably needed another few minutes of stir fry and get the sauce distributed more evenly. The highlight for me was the eel nigiri, and my friend said his tuna nigiri was great.

We usually go to a basic sushi place in Durham, but we were around the Apex Cary area and wanted to try something new with our friends there. They suggested Genki. The service was really great; the waiter was friendly and nice. She knew her sushi really well and was really helpful when we were asking about popular rolls and suggestions. We went around 7:30ish on a Saturday and it was quite busy. There were only two sushi chefs making all the sushi for the entire restaurant...which made the wait for the actual food really long. I was impressed with the sushi and extremely hungry. I truly liked all the rolls minus one. I wouldn't recommend getting a roll with fried oysters because we bit into pearls and it was a little spicy for me. Fuji Yama has to be my favorite followed by the Sweet Dragon then Super Rainbow then Fireman. The basic rolls were cheaper but still tasted delicious like the scallops roll and eel roll.

Couples platter: horrible spicy tuna and poorly made nigiri. Tempura roll was okay

The chef curates a multi course and highly personalized tasting menu. My wife and I had the pleasure to partake in this unbelievable experience for our 21st anniversary, and it was hands down one of the best meals we've ever had. Not this month, not just sushi, not just in NC...but one of the top meals of all time anywhere. We had the Grand Omakase, which came out to 10 courses in total. I won't go into detail on each and every course, but let's just say that each and every course was of the highest quality fish, sushi or meat we've had anywhere. From the sushi flown out straight from Japan, to the beluga caviar and A5 Wagyu, and everything in between. We've had sushi across the nation and overseas, 100s of times. This has taken the top #1 spot out of all of them, especially with what we were served in the Grand Omakase package. Impeccable service, 8 sushi chefs all working efficiently at once in an open style sushi kitchen, all within a classy (but not pretentious by any means) establishment. The Grand Omakase package here is one of those bucket list items for anyone who loves sushi, top shelf meats and fish, and enjoys a high level foodie experience.

The restaurant itself has a very intimate, modern and upscale feel, which makes it perfect for a date night or when you just want something a little nicer than your typical sushi spot. The service was attentive, and I appreciated that everything felt intentional--from the presentation to the pacing of the meal. The sushi was incredibly fresh, and I love that you can keep things fairly traditional with nigiri and sashimi or venture out and try some of their more creative specialty rolls and small plates. Everything is presented beautifully, so of course you're going to take a picture before you touch it. Now, M Sushi is definitely on the pricier side, so this wouldn't necessarily be my casual Tuesday-night sushi run. But for the quality, atmosphere and overall experience, I understand why it has the reputation it does. Fenton already gives you plenty to do before or after dinner, so M Sushi makes for a really nice evening out. Good food, beautiful presentation, great service and an elevated atmosphere. Definitely worth experiencing at least once if you're a sushi lover!

I am a bit disappointed that the days of BOGO sushi are no-more here but I've still enjoyed the Florida and Tokyo rolls here as they have been my go-to for years (so many work group dinners and lunchtime visits). The Teriyaki Chicken is still a solid choice as well, served with rice and some steamed veggies. Recently got to come here with a group of work colleagues and we started out with a great appetizer choice of the Wasabi Platter (spring roll, shrimp in blanket, satay, steamed gyoza, fried gyoza) plus a plate of the Fresh Basil Rolls (made of shrimp, chicken, lettuce, cilantro, cucumber, bean sprouts, carrots, basil leaves, vermicelli, rice paper, house made hoisin sauce, ground peanuts). The group at our table devoured these appetizers, good stuff. For my meal I went with what looked like a new selection on the menu, Chicken Katsu (panko chicken cutlet). I will note at this point that it did take a longer than expected time to get our main plates out to us, one at the table even said "we did put in our orders, right?" But when our meals arrived, it was worth the wait. With my chicken katsu, it was perfectly cooked (fried golden but not overdone), but the accompanying sauce and spicy mayo made this one even better. I would definitely get this selection again and hope it stays on the menu. Wasabi is still serving some of the best Asian meals in Cary and I am glad they have continued through the years in MacGregor Village.
