Ambience and service get a 4, but the food is terrible! This is not authentic Mexican by any stretch of the imagination. American cheese is over everything. The crispy "puffed" corn tortilla is a Taco Bell like hard taco shell. The flour tortillas are basically Mission tortillas from any grocery store. The rice tasted reheated too many times and was crunchy. Everything was greasy. I don't understand any good reviews. This place does not have my vote. read more

We had an awful experience this afternoon. After a long work week a few of my colleagues and I wanted to grab a drink before headed home for the evening. We ended up at Ojeda's - which was clearly the wrong choice for the evening. As we were seated and began to peruse the drink menu, I was blown away by how expensive the drinks were on a Friday afternoon around 4:30 -- apparently I don't get out enough. I decided on a large Strawberry Daiquiril and one of my colleagues ordered a house margarita. Our sever, when first taking our order asked my friend if she wanted salt on her margarita and she said no. He then began to tease my other colleague (who does not drink, but came for the company) for not ordering a drink. She laughed him off, but he jabbed at her two more times before the end of the evening. When our bill came, it was over $18 for two drinks. Mine was $8.50, but he charged my friend for a large margarita. She brought it to his attention, because she did not ask for a large, and he proceeded to tell her that he just assumed she wanted a large drink because I did. He huffed off and took the bill with him. He returned with the adjusted bill a few minutes later and snatched the remainder of my friends margarita. As a past server, I would never dream of treating my customers in this way. I was shocked at the awful service and attitude of our waiter. The drinks were not good enough to bring us back, especially with the way my friend was treated. You lost some good business, Ojeda's! We work just down the street. read more

Amazing as always. My first meal out in 2.5 months, and was so happy we came. Sat outside, the best patio! Our lovely server kept our drinks full without even asking. Both meal were delicious, he got tilapia and veggies, I got a huge platter with enchiladas and more, I like variety. Queso was delicious, quac on point, beefy entrees delicious! First time here for lunch. I was seated quickly and in and out in under one hour. It was busy obviously lunch time and service was nice and quick. I'm not a fan of Tex mex but my friend wanted to go here. The hot sauce tastes like Pace Picante from the grocery store. The queso was good. I ordered the sour cream chicken enchiladas which were good too. I added salt to the rice and beans. 4/5 stars for service and entree. Would return if I'm in the mood for Tex mex. read more

Came in tonight with my girlfriend,service was good atmosphere is great,personally the only thing I liked was my girlfriends stuffed pablano,rice was bland beans were ok but the beef enchiladas were awful,I'm sure there are other things on the menu that are good but the beef enchiladas are not one of them.They actually tasted like tv dinner echiladas not impressed.The chips were drenched in oil almost all you could taste, salsa was good not great.all in al there's way to many good texmex places to eat at in dallas,my girlfriend really enjoyed her food so maybe we will try it one more time and I'll try something else. read more

Ojeda's is a typical Tex-Mex restaurant with nothing really to rave about. When I arrived with my friend we were not really greeted, but quickly ushered to a table that was crammed near several other tables. Decor was the same that you see at almost every other restaurant of this type - low light, yellow glasses, brown accents - nothing spectacular. Our waiter took ten minutes to take our order. Initially I did not order a drink, but noticed that after I ordered a sangria that our waiter suddenly became more attentive. It was like a light switch and it was a little too obvious that his attention was directly proportional to how much we were going to spend. The food took awhile to come out and when it did come out it was ok. Classic corn tacos with ground beef - nothing really spectacular. For an inexpensive meal this is an average place to go. read more

I do have to admit Ojeda's was our second choice on our recent visit - we tried to eat at a very small place right down Maple (small Mexican restaurant in an old, converted house) but we left because it was so unbelievably loud in that tiny restaurant. We were even seated already, but had to get up and leave because we literally could not hear the waiter or each other speak at normal volumes. I have been to Ojeda's numerous times over the years and I have never had a bad experience, so we made the short trip and I'm glad we did. We went for a pre-concert meal on the Saturday evening of the Texas/OU game, so I was concerned about it being too crowded to eat quickly. I got a little nervous when I was not able to find a parking spot in the front, side, or back paved parking lots (I got one in the grass lot out back) and then was put on a waiting list when we got inside (first time ever for me here). We were seated within a few minutes, and I was shocked to see how crowded the restaurant was. Every dining room was absolutely packed and there appeared to be numerous large parties, so I got even more nervous our food would take a very long time to prepare. We were seated in a dining area I honestly didn't know even existed - this place is huge! Our server was really nice and she helped us quickly, we ordered our dinners (Brisket Tacos and Tacos Mexicanos), and were very pleasantly surprised to receive our meals within just a few minutes, which was absolutely shocking considering how many people were there and had to be ordering at the same time. Kudos to the kitchen staff for preparing our food so quickly at such high quality. Both meals were fantastic. We will absolutely be back and I highly recommend you give Ojeda's a try if you haven't yet. read more

My favorite dirty Mexican food place. Cheesy beany deliciousness! We always start with the stuffed jalapeños. The interior chicken is flavorful and moist. I've been making my way through the menu and I've never had something I didn't like. Mmmmmm... and the beans taste as if they've been cooked with bacon! The margaritas are tasty. Sit down, ... My family has been Ojedas regulars for literally 3 generations. I can still imagine the homemade, tender, tortillas melting in my mouth. The lard, bacon infused beans used to be so flavorful. Chips, freshly cut and fried, scooped up salsa and anything that spilled onto the plate. Not one of these items remain true to memory. Today, the only Ojedas discernible item of taste is the salsa. The salsa is vinegary and I like it because of nostalgia, so I'm biased. Nothing else is worthy of mention. The fajitas are heavy on the meat, yet nothing special. All sides are meh. The frying oil on the last visit needed changing so badly the chips and fried items were :-( Very sad, I dont see the brand surviving another generation. Very Disappointed in this visit. Over the years I've frequented this and other Ojedas locations. It has always been hit and miss with them. No consistency ever over 30 plus years. So this was my last visit here. It seems the quality of ingredients has been compromised. You know, what goes in is what comes out and what they are serving is mediocre at best. The taco meat was mushy and the texture weird. The shell was crunchy and crisp but the cheese looked like a cheese product and not cheddar. The beef enchilada was doused in a sauce that was not chili con carne. I'm not sure what it was but tasted like from a can. Weak and flavorless. The cheese chili Relleno was stuffed full of cheese that was stringy and hard to eat. it was swimming in a pool of grease from the reheating of the "too much cheese" inside. The chips and salsa were good, Service bad. They sat us in an adjacent room to the main room. Even though the main room was only half full. I know they do this to even out the waiter workload but this waiter didn't appreciate it. I had to keep asking for things like more chips, more tea, check, and things that should have been automatic. Plus no smile etc? Way too many Delicious Mexican food options in Dallas to waste my money here. read more

My coworker brought me here... so glad she did. The food was good but the refried beans were amazing. I'm not a huge refried bean fan.. but these were good old school Mexican refried beans. The taco was decent. The meat was a little different, more like a meat paste... my enchilada was good. Our server was attentive following our 20 min wait to take our order.. chips and salsa were addicting as the salsa was hotter than typical salsa and very fresh but with a bit of a sweetness to it. read more

This place is a dirty mess. I had to use the bathroom (near the bar area) and was shocked that this place hasn't been cited by the city for being a dirty mess. This bathroom looks like it hasn't been cleaned or updated in 50 years - the hardware is all rusted, the tile is dirty , the toilet seat was falling off and there were no handicap rails,. My father always told me if a restaurants bathroom is dirty and unattended to - do not eat there - as it a sign of managements lack of caring about "overall cleanness". I am sorry I ate before going to the bathroom as I otherwise would have left immediately (food was average at best and one margarita cost me $16 ! - didn't know I was at the Mansion). Next step is I am calling the City to have them do a inspection. read more

Food seemed a little under seasoned to me. I like spicy but this was flat bland today; even though I enjoyed the spicy salsa it just never picked it up. We shared the deluxe combo plate but it was certainly under-whelming. We will probably go to Herrera's next time for highly seasoned Tex-Mex or perhaps Mattito's. read more

The first time I ever went to an Ojeda's it was the one in Desoto and I didn't realize it was actually something of a local chain. I was really surprised (and greatly #blessed) to discover that not only was it a chain BUT that there was also a location close to my job. Ever since that lovely discovery, my co-workers and I have ventured here quite frequently when we're craving some good ole' Tex-Mex (even more so now that Grandpa Tony's closed awhile ago). We're always seated quickly. Even with the large lunch crowds or showing up right around noon, we've never had to wait for a table. We've also never had to wait long for chips and salsa to be provided after we've been seated. The service has always been phenomenal, from how long it takes to get our drinks orders to when we're finally eating. Service is super quick and definitely a win if you've got a lunch break that borders on the shorter side in terms of time. Their chips are really good. Sometimes it's hard to not get full on them while waiting for your entree. Their sour cream enchiladas are amazing. I always tell myself I'll get something different but usually end up defaulting back to this. Though I've heard the fajitas and nachos are also excellent. Definitely wouldn't be surprised on the nachos considering how good the chips are on their own. One thing that I love is that you can request corn tortillas free of charge. I love it because I have a habit of slapping some butter on warm corn tortillas and making something of a mini burrito out of it with the rest of the beans from my entree and some salsa. (Try it if you never have, you won't be disappointed) Another thing that's nice about Ojedas in particular is that they serve their breakfast items all day. We love this place! Salsa delicious and has a good spice! Chips yummy too! Got chicken fajitas with no rice and charro beans! Ordered side of pickled jalapeños and was a good sized bowl...I ate 2! They were spicy too! The hotter the better! It was crowded, but didn't have to wait long for a table for 5. Didn't get margaritas this time, but looks like something I need and want to order! The chicken was tender, charro beans delicious, mom said they were salty.....I love salt they were good to me! My niece got enchiladas with queso and really liked. My brother got the steak on top of enchiladas and he ate it all! The rest of us had the chicken fajitas...all left stuffed and happy! We've only lived back in Dallas 5 months and already been 3 times.....a good Tex mex place for us! I've had the tortilla soup before and I'll order again. Several of us had dinner tonight at the Ojeda's on Maple where we've been many times. On the outset the hostess & waiter were pleasant & our order & food arrived in a timely fashion. And then we never saw the waiter again. When we were finished eating we had to flag down one of the management people to try to get our checks -- we had to do this 3 times .
