This restaurant is literally the first place I ever ate out. According to my parents they brought me here shortly after being born just so they could eat. So its my actual first restaurant experience. Also, it is truly Tex-mex or at least what I come to eat. Everything is slathered in a cheezy sauce that is undoubtedly NOT authentic and yet whenever I come home I must indulge in this childlike nostalgia. The inside is amazing, with christmas lights and cool old movie posters over the tables in one of the rooms. Also there is a framed piece of memorabilia from when then President Clinton visited Dallas and ate at O'jedas. There is a picture and some white house M&ms, I always thought that was way cool as a kid. As an adult I can't get enough! read more

I have been here twice, while visiting Dallas. It is not, from my understanding Mexican food, but if this is Tex-Mex, I say BRING IT ON! I got the Ojeda's dinner plate last time I was here for lunch. It's enough food so that you might never go hungry! I often like to clean my plate, but it was nearly impossible! This time I got the nighthawk, which was the special ($5.75) and added beans and rice to it. Pissah! I knew I wouldn't be able to eat it all, so took on half as a challenge, and waddled out in to the parking lit with a grin on my face. The waitstaff is really friendly, and the place is massive- and the food is good enough (as is the price) that I'm sure even people who were coming here before it was trendy still return. If I ever visit Dallas again, you will find me stuffing my face, wrapped around a margarita glass at Ojedas. read more

Tex-Mex at its best! I've been to Ojeda's many times over the past fifteen years (or so) and each time I go I'm still pleased with the quality of food. The portions are plentiful, the salsa is amazing...AND, they leave a pitcher of it on each table so you can eat as much as you want without having to pester the waitstaff. This is my favorite Tex-Mex. This is what I grew up with and this is what I look for when having Tex-Mex. Now that I live in AZ, the flavors are different. These are my favorite enchiladas with the chili con carne gravy rather than an enchilada sauce. The basics are what I come for. We're visiting from NY, and this place was right near our hotel so we decided to stop with no expectations. The food was so yummy. We shared a quesadilla appetizer, and we each got our own enchiladas. All of the food was perfect. The skinny margarita was good, get the large. The only thing I didn't like was the Mexican candy shot, it was just too sweet for my taste. The service was great. My husband wanted to watch the game and called ahead to make sure we could see it on tv, and as it wasn't too busy, the waitress let us choose our table to get the best view of the game and checked in several times. If we were staying longer we would definitely be back. read more

Super Tex-Mex restaurant. Starting with the HOT salsa and chips. Good wait staff but, as with all these days, a bit short handed. No problem, we are never in a hurry. They make what they call a skinny margarita which is actually what a real margarita tastes like. Tart and not sweet. The Poblano Rellenos are excellent. Not deep fat fried but a layer of coating on only one side and mine was completely stuffed with brisket. Only demerit would be what is called a puffed taco. This evening the quality of the food was adequate however the service was subpar. The waiter disappeared and we had to pay the bill at the cashier booth. The cashiers couldn't be less interested nor aplogetic about our waiter being MIA. Really bad experience with their fajitas last night, my 13 year old son loves them and eats everything, didn't finish his. I asked and he said they tasted weird so I tried them and he was right. Not just chicken but onions in the skillet, not only tasting awful but the smelled bad including the skillet. I sent them back, unfinished and told waitress Angelica, but she said kitchen said they were fine. I really think they had something in the skillet when they cooked it, maybe left over soap or something. All I know is it was bad, my son was disappointed and I got charged $16 anyway. Customer service is great. I came during the lunch rush and I was seat quickly. My good came out quickly. A little too quickly for my taste. I remembered thinking: "did y'all cook the food all the way?" I ordered spinach enchiladas. The texture of the tortilla was soggy for my taste. So I ended up removing the filling and eating that with my rice. I would have gotten more satisfaction from a cheese quesadilla. Welp. read more

Came here for breakfast. The service was relatively slow considering that I was the only customer on that side of restaurant. I ordered the "chilaquiles" which are not really chilaquiles; they are 'migas'. The salsa was the most disappointing thing, it tasted like the salsa from Tostitos that you get at Walmart. NOT real Mexican food. They do not make their own flour tortillas, food is over salted and under spicy. The place was very crowded and loud. Food was served extremely quick, 1st clue that this was not going to be real food. The flour tortillas was the 2nd, any real Mexican restaurant makes their own tortillas. The waitress was a real nuisance, until we actually were ready to order, at which time she has vanished and not seem seen for at least 10 minutes. We told her that the charro beans (not what they called them) were super salty, she apologized took them back, and brought out another cup of the same beans thinking that they would be less salty. Casual atmosphere with delicious Mexican food! I absolutely love this place. At first we were hesitant to come here because the surrounding neighborhood looks sketchy, however, after living in this area and grocery shopping nearby, we came to love it! It's very casual! It's also huge inside! Very friendly wait staff. Mixed group of people inside dining. Prices are awesome for downtown. Order the Tacos De Fajita in chicken. Soooooo good! There was a large party of us eating last week and we had separate bill's. When it came time to pay we all had a $7 service charge added to our bill. I've always been a big fan of family owned Ojedas restaurants but unfortunately this has changed. My last visit to the Maple Ave Location was not a great experience. I ordered togo "curbside" we ordered the mixed fajitas for two and the beef enchiladas plate. We arrived 15 mins after ordering and purchased the meals shortly after food was brought out. We left and made it home 10 mins later to discover The entire order was a disaster- our enchiladas were leaking and was tossed around within the packing causing a big mushy mess. Our fajitas meal was full of onions and peppers and barely had any Meat (which is the most expensive part of our meal)! To make matters worse everything was cold. We were so disappointed in this experience! We paid nearly$80 bucks for our meals and were very angry to say the least-What a waste!!. Ojedas used to be a popular gathering for my family's events birthdays anniversaries special occasions you name it but with the level of service i recently experienced i am forced to give it up. Considering the pandemic i took a huge risk with even eating out So very dissatisfied with my experience Ojedas please do better! read more

A friend and I frequent Ojeda's often for early Sunday morning brunch. (They open at 1000a) We go at least by 1100a to beat the crowd. We are always seated promptly and have received great service on each visit. I love both their brunch menu (Huevos Rancheros) as well as the usual Tex-Mex offerings. The salsa they serve initially is the very "heat on the palate" variety; but....NOTE - you can request a milder version which I think has more flavor and does not leave blisters going down. Their cheese and onion enchiladas are mouth watering; we always ask for extra fresh chopped onions on top and are quickly accommodated. Puffed Beef tacos are excellent, lots of good seasoned beef and fresh lettuce and tomatoes. But...WAIT....saving the best for last....the Top Shelf Margaritas (yes, I do have one at 1100a on a Sunday morning; after all, what else is there to do on a hot, sticky, humid day in Big D? than to go home and take a nice little nap!) These are amazing; they are strong, but after the first sip or two, they go down realllllllly smooth. The only reason rated only 4 stars.....it's a little trek from FB/Addison, but worth the trip! My friend from work took me here for a lunch. Unfortunately, I was not impressed. Even though it was middle of week, the place was packed and I don't know why. My friend ordered Sour Cream chicken Enchilada. I ordered half order of beef taco.(2 Tacos) Food came out really quick which is not a good thing in my book because it means that all of the items are pre made and they just put it together and heat it up. I thought that price was high too. I paid for both of our meals plus one order of iced tea. Totaling $22.75 That' is really high for all we got. My taco was ok. They were nothing special about my taco. I could have made better myself and save myself some money. Needless to say I am not going back. read more

I guess if you just moved to Texas and have never eaten Mexican food before then you might like this place. I just think people totally overrate Ojeda's. The factor that I think people like is it is huge, they seat you fast even when they are super crowded, they automatically bring out separate checks, you get your food like 2 minutes after you order it (which I don't see as a positive) and you pay up front so that's fast as well. Now on to the food. Blech...The chips are okay. The salsa is gross. It was too spicy and tasted like lime juice. And I like spicy food. I ordered the puffy taco lunch special and the hamburger meat and refried beans tasted like I was just eating salt from a salt shaker. Overall I just felt gross after I left. A friend ordered the quesadillas. These looked okay but cost 9.50 for 4 pieces and were literally smothered in cheese. I just feel like Dallas is filled to the brim with great Mexican places so I wouldn't bother returning to a place that is just mediocre in my book. read more

Each time I go, aside from the staff, I'm the only other latino in the place. Typically, not a great sign for a Mexican joint...especially in the 'hood Ojeda's is in. Everyone I know creams their unmentionables over Ojeda's. Every Fri/Sat I pass by, the lot is packed. I just don't see what the buzz is about. There's three things I always judge a Mexican restaurant on: salsa, rice, and flavor. Each one I have been disappointed with at Ojeda's. Service is usually mediocre. The salsa has probably been sitting in those little jugs on the table for who knows how long. The refried beans are more lard than bean (pony up the extra coin and get borracho beans). All in all, I just have to shrug my shoulders if asked what I think of Ojeda's. Mind you, there are worse places in the 'hood for this type of fare. But, for the price of Ojeda's, you may be better off investing that $$ into gas to take you to Gonzales in Oak Cliff. read more

This place is HORRIBLE. Let me just list: 1. The chips were bland and left a powdery coating on the roof of my mouth. 2. The salsa tasted like watered down ketchup. 3. Horrid food. The food came out fast - so it was obviously all pre-made crap they just threw together. I ordered the chicken ensalada salad. I mainly ordered it because I wanted avocados and it said it came with avocados. Here's what a got, a giant bowl of lettuce with a sprinkling of white cheese, small bits of tasteless chicken, and the tiniest spoonful of GUACAMOLE. Not even avocados!! I was so angry. There weren't even tomatoes or anything on it! It was by far THE worst salad I have ever ordered. 4. Overpriced!! I paid $11 for that salad. The ingredients were probably worth $2.50. If I hadn't been with coworkers for a birthday lunch I would have left without touching it. I knew as soon as I looked at my food that it was not going to be good, and it wasn't! I actually DISLIKED eating each bite. And that's saying something because I love food. DO NOT GO HERE. MAY IT SHUT DOWN AND BE FORGOTTEN FOREVER. read more

Been coming to ojedas for years but tonight's experience was horrible for me and my family. table next to us has screaming child that waitress or management would not address. I am not spending money when restaurants will not acknowledge that a table with a screaming child is ruining the dinner and experience for 3-5 tables surrounding that disturbance. read more

Came here with my new co-workers for a happy hour. I didn't get to try the food because I'd had a late lunch. The chips were decent...didn't do the salsa because they put it in a container and sit it on the table. I didn't know how long the salsa had been out, so I wasn't going to take any chances and eat any lol. The drinks were not on a "happy hour" special but they were ok...nothing to write home about. I did take my wife some fajitas home and she said they were pretty good. I do want to come back here to try the food. The staff was very attentive and friendly...so that's always a plus in my eyes. Located in the medical district of downtown Dallas, it's almost difficult to find a parking spot. The food is average but the alcoholic beverages make up for that. The inside is kinda cozy. The service was.. ok. On the weekends it's tough to grab a table, so i definitely recommend calling ahead for a quick reservation. read more
