Stopped by for lunch since we were in the mood for fried chicken and chicken fried chicken. The chicken legs were large and delicious as was the chicken fried chicken. We got combo meals so 2 sides came with each along with drinks. We got a selection of sides that included fried green tomatoes, mashed potatoes and gravy, potatoes casserole, and Mac n Cheese which were all large portions and good. The mashed potatoes and gravy, and fried green tomatoes were our favorites. Had we know the sides were so big, I would of just got chicken legs by themselves. The combos came with drinks so we had the delicious sweet tea. They have a drink service station so you get your own which was convenient. The complimentary biscuits and corn bread was a bonus with the biscuits being so soft and fluffy. Jessica (server) was truly amazing!!! She helped us set up our table decor and favors. She took our meal orders for 25 ppl. She was so friendly and accommodating. We booked the private room in the back which was a lovely room..perfect for our Friendsgiving luncheon. Our food came out quickly and we all enjoyed our entrees!!! Delicious southern cuisine. Terrible service, and we left after not even getting waited on. My parents and I arrived at 6:30, and while the place probably only had one other sitting patron the waitress brought us a baket of bread but no plates nor silverware to spread the butter or place our bread on. I honestly really enjoyed my experience here. We went on a Sunday before noon and we were seated quickly. They brought us cornbread and biscuits right away. We happened upon this spot after leaving the mall and our stay at a nearby hotel for Memorial Day weekend. To start, let me say that we both (my husband and I) loved the fact that we were able to get a "home cooked meal" away from home. However, the food was kinda pricey and not that seasoned. I ordered the broccoli and cheese casserole, collards and fried green tomatoes. The casserole was "off the chain" good..it was seasoned well. The collards and tomatoes, on the other hand, were not! They were bland! I had to put hot sauce on my collards to enjoy them. The tomatoes were "crunchy- unchy" though!! That's a plus. My husband got the fried chicken, collards and mac n cheese. The chicken was also "crunchy-unchy", but NOT seasoned at all! OMGG!! Now, c'mon folks!! You gotta season chicken! Anyway the mac n cheese was actually good! Very cheesy and seasoned. Great amount of food for the price you get!! Service is friendly and incredibly fast. Each meal comes with sweet tea or soda and your choice of biscuits and cornbread. I definitely recommend the biscuits. I'm not sure how they manage it, but the fried green tomatoes stay crisp and don't get soggy. They're nicely tart as well. Went here today for lunch and so delicious! I ordered the grilled chicken and dumplings, green beans and macaroni and was served a biscuit and cornbread muffin. First off the cornbread muffin was the best I've ever tasted. I ordered some to go for my son-in-law. The rest was amazing. Ate every bite. Will definitely be going back. This is a family favorite. My entire family from my mother all the way down to the youngest kid has a favorite food here and never complains. My son and I have made some happy memories here at lunch between errands. I recently took my mom here for her birthday lunch and she is still talking about how good it was. Even when they are busy they have nice service. My son even has a fond memory of the guy ringing us up taking a moment to do a perfect stitch impression for him. The atmosphere reminds you of all the good parts about growing up in the south. If you are looking for the kind of place where everyone gets something they want at a reasonable price this is the place. I am weirdly infatuated with this place. They are on summer vacation right now, so this review is based upon 8 or so visits over the last 6 months. It's basically a meat and three restaurant, but superbly executed. The menu changes daily and always includes hamburger steak with grilled onions, a chicken breast smothered in a light bechamel sauce, outstanding fried chicken prepared a la minute, and a porkchop that is pounded thin before being breaded and fried, and covers the entire plate. An assortment of other entrees make the rounds, including delicious turkey and dressing, and a to-die-for Swiss steak that is meltingly tender. The meal starts with a buttery biscuit and a yummy corn muffin. The 'three' that accompanies the meat include homemade mashed potatoes, fantastic collard greens, crispy fried green tomatoes. There are a dozen or so other veggie side dishes. The servers are unfailingly friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is authentically homey. The restaurant is delightfully untrendy, which makes it all the more appealing. I love it. read more

All I got were the very top of the tomatoes as well as my wife. So they had the hard stem part in the middle. Then there is just too much batter on them. Every thing else was pretty good. When we first walked in, we were not greeted and had to wait a couple minutes for someone to come and seat us. I quickly realized why It took so long to be seated. Our waitress was also the hostess, cashier, busboy and food runner, shout out Sheryl for holding it down!! We did see a brief exchange from another employee complaining about not getting "paid enough for this" so they clearly have a staff shortage. This place is a mess. There is only one lady doing it all. She is at the counter, seating, taking orders, and serving the orders. That is in no way to run a business. Where are the owners? Step in if you can't find help. Don't kill the help you have. Then we had to wait for fresh fried chicken to be made, which is no big deal fresh is best. The lady brought me the chicken fresh and asked me to cut into it and see if it was cooked through. That's not the customers job. It's why we came out to dinner. Bland fast "Southern" food! I grew up in a small town about 70miles south of Greenville. I grew up on Southern Home cooked food. Let me tell you. This is as far from it as North is to South! Been here 3 times and each time it is the same bland tasteless food. Let's start with the chicken Fried steak. First way to much breading on the meat. The breading takes up 2/3 of the meat. 2nd there is no seasoning. When you get to the actual meat you will find it to be dry and very thin as if has been flattened how you would a chicken Brest to make chicken Parmesan. The greens also had no seasoning added to them what so ever. They where beautifully plated but yet you must add your own flavor. The mashed redskin potato's where pretty good but was still under cooked. The biscuits was great and actually had some what of a buttery taste to them. Now the fried green tomatoes was bland to the 10th degree. The breading had no seasoning what so ever. They do give you some type of dipping sauce however if you have to hand out sauce that means you know it is bland! To top this all off and to point out the issue with the food I have to tell you that I got my order in 6min and 41sec. That was total two quick to get a massive order out. This means that the meat is precooked and sat under a hot lamp. This cause the food to continue to cook which drys it out. We've dined here more times than I can count over the years but today was by far the worst. Food was bland and skimpy. My mother's portions were embarrassingly small - a child size meal for full price. She ordered the 'chicken fried chicken', which arrived as 2 tiny chicken strips with a spoonful of gravy on top. They also added a side to our ticket that she didn't order, which I didn't realize until after I'd paid the check. $120 for lunch and nobody enjoyed their meal, not even our children. Have been eating here on Sundays for several years. Food is good but prices have steadily gone up. Last visit I discovered they had a new policy of adding gratuity for party of 6 or more. Nobody mentioned it to us so I left my tip on the table as always. When I was checking out I noticed the added gratuity and told the cashier I had left my tip on the table. Five Star Delivery Today our workplace was treated to lunch. We knew we had one coming but not who/what we'd have until they arrived. Man did the office smell heavenly! Beautiful salad with walnuts, apples and feta. Baked Macaroni...real baked macaroni mind you..my favorite too. Green beans. Corn bread muffins. Chicken breast both grilled and fried. when traveling through this area we stopped for lunch. We were greeted by smiles and big hellos..and made to feel like we were old friends, even though it was our first time there. The service was impeccable, and Kevin the owner / chef comes by to say hi and again made us feel like old friends. The meal was great. My husband had his favorite chicken livers, and commented that they were great, and it was a huge portion. I had their specialty salad and adde fried chicken to it. The cider vinegar dressing could be addictive. Dessert was a pineapple coconut cake, that if we hadn't taken it to go as we were stuffed, we'd have bought a whole cake. Even though the portions were generous, I found the menu items to be overpriced compared to other similar places. Parking was a problem because it's in a strip shopping center and parking near the restaurant was not available when I went. I was desperate to try some Fried Chicken for lunch without driving up to Travelers Rest. Finished with my shopping at Haywood Mall, I thought - why not? Its right here. Talked to the hostess and asked her about the fried chicken. She assured me it was well seasoned and very moist. Unfortunately for me, that is not what I got at all. My whole $12.75 is a throwaway. The chicken is hard and dry as a rock. There is NO seasoning. My creamed corn is so sweet it is inedible. The fried green tomatoes are fried nicely, but once again no seasoning and the remoulade doesn't have any real taste to it also. As others stated, this is Bland Bland Bland Food. The biscuit is a nice biscuit. The only customers I saw were 60+ and maybe its the way they like their food. I've been eating here for quite a while and I can't believe I haven't posted. Ok, I usually get take out, order ahead and pick it up. My food, over the past three years has been uniformly excellent. The veggies, especially the daily specials, are perfect. The entrees are large portioned and always good, whether it's the special or on the regular menu. Cornbread is not too sweet and the biscuits are fantastic. But I really keep coming back for the service. It's nice when they appreciate your business and make sure you feel valued.
