After our cycling trip on a greenway that cuts through town, we stopped at Smoke for lunch. I ordered the pulled pork with a side of beans & a side of a potato cake. The waitress gave us a tour of their 5 bbq sauces. I tried them all & settled on the Kansas City sauce. The pulled pork was decent but average. The beans were decent but average. The potato cake was interesting. They took a large mass of baked potato, rolled it into a ball, deep fried it, & topped it with sour cream. It was good, but not excellent. Finally they served some complimentary cornbread that was dry & kind of dull. I could only give this place a 3.

This place was a great spot to have dinner. It seemed like they may have been a little understaffed or maybe our server was new, but the food was delicious. I ordered the pulled pork with chili and mixed greens. My friends ordered the beef brisket and the catfish. We were all very happy with the food. My friend that ordered the catfish got his a good 5-7 minutes later than we did but it was still good!

Bbq chicken breast, with Mac n cheese and okra..excellent, chicken leg/thigh with sweet potato tots, never had sweet potato tots..amazing! Service was great! Hope they get to stay or move to Taylors/Greer! We will definitely be back!

Eat here, if BBQ meat is your thing. The smoke meat is among the best, I've eaten. We arrived about 11:45 on a Saturday and there was a short wait for patio seating for 2. There were 2 big events in town, a University of SC vs Clemson baseball game at Flour Field and the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament at Bon Secours Arena, so a wait wasn't surprising. We ordered the Double Play (2 meats you select) and 2 sides. We selected the pulled pork and beef brisket ($2 bucks extra for the beef). For sides, I ordered the delicious fried okra and my Plus 1, ordered the Collard Greens. We shared the meats but not the sides. There was plenty of meat for the 2 of us. The Smoke Snout Stout(say that 3 times times fast) and that was perfect with the food order; smooth. Jessica, our Server, was friendly, efficient and materialized when we needed her-PERFECT. We left with a small container of meat. For the next mornings breakfast, we zapped that and had it with breakfast. Yummy still.

We've had to drive through Greenville a few times recently, and this is absolutely my favorite place in Greenville to stop for food. And it's got a beautiful outdoor patio which is dog friendly. Right in downtown, near Falls Park on the Reedy so you can walk off all this delicious food I'm about to tell you about. South Carolina bbq is already next level and Smoke on the Water does it justice. Get the Smoke n' jackets ($12) to start, crispy potato skins filled with your choice of protein. Then the pulled pork sandwich ($9.50) with a side (I got fried okra) to finish it off, chef's kiss. And OMG the bbq sauce, they give you house made sampler of the 4 staple SC sauces. Mustard, vinegar and pepper, light tomato and heavy tomato. It's the mustard for me, chef's kiss, but you'll have the option to try them ALL, maybe at the same time!!.. no that's crazy... Is it???

I was visiting Greenville and decided to stop by Smoke On the Water for dinner. I joined their waitlist online and once I arrived, I checked in at the host stand. She said there would be about a 30 min wait. Once a table was ready we were seated outside. Our waiter came over and asked our drink orders. We asked for water and a cocktail menu, but when he brought out the waters he forgot the menu. In the meantime we ordered our appetizers and food. The server took forever to return to our table throughout our dining experience. The chicken deviled eggs had no chicken on them and were very basic (regular deviled eggs). The beef bites were tender but would've been better with sauce. Our waiter never brought out any bbq sauce or A1. We asked for bbq sauce along with hot sauce and he never brought it out. The fried catfish was not done and I'm pretty sure was not catfish but another type of fish. We had to send the fish back and just settled for wings. I also had a to go order of 2 fried chicken salads and they only handed me half of the order. They gave me the containers of fried chicken tenders and no salad.

Great location! I put my name on waiting list which advised us to arrive at restaurant between 5-20 minutes . We arrived about 15 minute later and were seated quickly! Both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat indoors . Service was very good ! Had chicken wings for an appetizer- they were fantastic. Loved the deviled eggs as well. Ordered crab cake for dinner . It was good but would not order again . Great drink selection!

Arrived and the waitress looked at us and said "you're right on time!" Nobody made a reservation so we were super confused. The table was set so thinking we stole someone's space. We asked but she said she had no idea. We were carrying cupcakes so maybe that's why they thought that? She asked why we had then and we told her it was both of our birthdays. Would have been nice for her to offer to at least bring us a plate for them or chill them or something. Overall she was super distracted and scattered the whole time. She did bring us cornbread with butter to start. Mmmm. Warm and moist and perfect. Great amount too. Started with their $4 mimosas. They have them with cranberry and orange. Very weak and small. Got two rounds (don't know why- maybe birthday feels) and the second round was a little better. Wouldn't recommend tho. I ordered the greens salad with salmon. Thought it was delicious. Great salmon- cooked perfectly. The mix of toppings in the salad was delicious too. Nuts, good cheese and berries. A bit expensive but a delight. Wish I would have taken a photo. Two people got mac and cheese and it was horrid. Tasteless. Like butter noodles. One of us sent it back and the other just didn't eat it. The server was super sweet about that. They did live their sampler slider it came with. Some definite hits and misses here. I'd try it again though.

Adequate BBQ, but I would have expected more for a local South Carolina restaurant. The meats generally leaned overcooked and dry. It needs copious amounts of sauce to get you back to even, which I guess is why the restaurant's slogan is "a saucy southern tavern." The beef brisket had a flavorful exterior herb/spices outside, but the beef inside again was a bit tough and flat. You did not get the flavor permeating the inside and it lacked the rich succulent smoky flavor.

We ordered baby back ribs, chicken, a burger, Mac n cheese, deviled eggs and sweet potato tots. Pros: Overall, our food was really good, the atmosphere was great and our server, Beth, was awesome Cons: We had to wait almost 45 minutes to eat, the cornbread was TERRIBLE, the chicken was a little dry, and the burger was small for the price In spite of the cons, I would definitely eat here again.

Such a great place to eat! The service was wonderful. There is parking around the back and easy to get in and out! Fairly reasonably priced food. It was roughly $60 for 2 people with alcohol! The portion size was good and we loved how the inside was decorated. Perfect for a date night! Hope to be back here soon!

I love this restaurant. The food is always good as well as the service. Sometimes there is a wait time so I recommend getting reservations ahead of time. We had to wait an additional 15 minutes past our reservation time. Once seated we looked over the menu with something for everyone. Our food server was Kylie and she was very friendly and professional. I ordered the Full Rack of Ribs with two sides. My diner partner had the Grilled Barbecue Chicken with two sides. I have never been let down by their ribs in the past and tonight was no exception. I also explored the tastes of their 5 different varieties of barbecue sauce. My partner enjoyed her chicken dish as well. The sides were good and of note was their Loaded Potato Cake. It was like mash potatoes in a ball put briefly in a fryer- very unique tasting and savory. We topped off the meal with dessert. We shared the Apple Cobbler that was too pretty to eat but we did anyway! A delicious finale to our meal and the year. I was pleasantly surprised when I got the bill- such a good meal at an affordable price. Smoke On the Water is one of our top picks for Greenville! You won't be disappointed.

The answer is a resounding "yep" and my favorite is Bobby's BBQ. On a recent visit to Greenville my wife and I made a side trip here, SO worth the stop. This is truly great brisket! Seasoned, wood-smoked, moist and flavorful. So tender it can be cut with a fork. Meat candy goodness. Is it supposed to be so dark? Absolutely, the servings are NOT burnt. There's a wonderful bark on this brisket which comes from a generous seasoned rub, low heat and a lot of TLC. Is it supposed to be fatty? You bet. Brisket is a tough cut of meat and fat provides tenderness, moisture and flavor. This ain't fine dinin' but the service from the counter is always welcoming and helpful. There is indoor and outdoor seating if you'd prefer to stretch your legs and eat here instead of waiting for the long drive home. The sides and sauces are very good as well. I love the Sweet Potato Crunch and the tangy OG Sauce is as good as any Texas Hill Country joint offers. (Sorry, I have no food photos. We got this order to-go and I didn't want to mislead anyone with shots of dinner on our deluxe paper plates.)

We each got the sandwich combo (meat of your choice, 2 sides & a drink) and some smoked sausages. The turkey was amazing, as was the brisket and pulled pork! The sausage is some of the best we've ever had. My sons loved the mac 'n cheese and I loved the coleslaw and sweet potato casserole. There's plenty of seating, both inside and outdoors. The vibe is very family friendly and welcoming. They had seasonal blackberry & peach cobbler on the menu, but it was sold out that evening. My husband returned the following day to get some (and a couple more sausages). The cobbler was worth the wait! Staff is personable and friendly! We will definitely be back!

Order at the counter and they hand it to you and you take it to the table. No table service. Now for the food. Four pulled pork plates and a 1/2 chicken plate. I had one of the pulled pork plates with cucumbers salad and their sweet potato crunch. For those that don't know I am a bbq snob. We have smoked many a pound of pork. This pork was ok. It was however chopped which does change the taste. Also it was a bit dry and had gristle. I had several large pieces of gristle on my plate but the others did not. Could be due to I was the last one. The sauces were a yellow and a ketchup based. Actually mixed them and found them to be good. I usually do not like the mustard sauce. Mixed it worked well. The cucumber salad was very good and was given in abundance. The sweet potato crunch also surprised me and was delicious also. Now the sweet tea was absolutely naughty. Wow it was so good. Over all not a bad meal. Bbqing for a large operation is tough and my old school way would not make production so I have to take that into account. Typical old school BBQ joint with long tables and order at the counter. You will leave smelling smoky no doubt. Plenty of parking except right at the rush.
