This lady is a scam artist. I dropped off a sweater and a shirt with some stains. Both came back with large holes and the stains were mostly still there. I can deal with stubborn stains not coming out but she didn't take any responsibility for the holes that she tore into my clothes. She said they were already there when they were most certainly not. I'm not blind and stupid. I would have noticed big holes like that and would've asked for them to be sewn up when I brought them in. Anyway, she still charged me full price and had the gall of trying to sell me more service to fix the holes which she created. I attached a picture of the sweater before it was dropped off and after I picked it up. I might've had a different opinion if she said, "Look I'm sorry we screwed up and damaged your clothes. Let me fix it free of charge and get it looking good again." But no, because she's a con dog. Do not bring clothes that you value here. She is a scammer so beware. Save yourself the trouble and go across the street to Roosevelt Cleaners or Plymouth Cleaners instead. read more

I brought a silk dress worth $257.55 to be cleaned. It had some dark stains on it. I previewed the dress closely because I was going to try to get one more use out of it before having it cleaned. The cleaners caused a round white spot where they seemed to have tried to use a harsh chemical, another spot, and marks on the back of the dress. None of those were there before. The cleaners maintains they were, but I would never try to get out the spots when I was bringing them to the cleaners to do so. The cleaners refused to pay for the dress and even charged me for ruining my dress. I think they should have some integrity and pay for the dress that they ruined. read more

My vintage wrap Commuun was torn (approximately 4 inches) along the shoulder line and the tag, still attached at one end, had been torn off. The lady at the shop was reluctant to do so but after I repeated myself several times, I was able to get my cleaning fee refunded. However, this does not cover the cost of repair. This is the easiest 5 stars I have ever given! I always call before I arrived to tell her about my situation, and I always have a situation. She's always super nice and agrees to help me out. What is my situation? I wait until the last minute when I need something altered by the next day or the same day. She is always super nice about it, despite being very busy. I keep telling myself I will do better and plan my wardrobe for events sooner. It always ends up the afternoon before that I realize, wow, I cannot fit this item that's been sitting in my closet for an entire week or month. Imagine that a jumpsuit I purchased six weeks ago with super long legs is still too long. Ha, ha,.... she deals with my bad timing, and I appreciate her good work. Her prices are fair but not cheap. The work is excellent, and it stays in place, so it's not like those seamstresses that do hems that come apart within a few washes. She's good and worth the trip to her shop and the cost. My boyfriend needed a suit tailored somewhat last minute (less than two weeks) and this spot had great reviews so we chose to try them. Do not be fooled by the somewhat hidden location and overall appearance of the shop. This place is the best. We were in and out from her taking measurements in less than 10 minutes, which did make me a little nervous at first. However, when we came back for the suit she was so confident in their work that she only made him try on the jacket. She said "Try on the jacket, the pants fit!" Sure enough everything looked amazing and was completed in time. I will be coming back to this place anytime I need something altered or dry cleaned. I recently brought a bridesmaids dress in for alterations (hem and press) for a wedding that I was the maid of honor in and when I arrived to pick it up, saw that the woman who owns the shop had carelessly gotten a large oil stain front and center on the light pink, satin dress. When I pointed it out to her, she looked surprised and deny doing it and proceeded to try and scratch the stain off with her fingernails and I when I asked about dry cleaning she said I didn't have enough time (I was leaving for the out of town wedding the following day). I expressed my frustration about leaving my dress in what I'd hoped to be professional hands, only to have the dress ruined, and through that conversation, she admitted that she saw the stain while she was pressing it (but still denied creating it, although I'd received the dress in the mail right before I brought it to her) but didn't think to call me and flag the stain to me knowing this dress was for a wedding, which further confirms that she created the stain in the messy shop. To make matters worse, she charged me $100 for the hem and press (despite the stain) and started yelling at me when I expressed issue with paying that much for truly terrible services (and the stain!). It got to the point where she was screaming at me and I did not want to continue to make a scene having an older shop owner scream at me in public, so I paid the ridiculous price of $100 (which was the same price as the dress). Long story short, DO NOT bring occasion wear or any important clothing here. The shop is messy and the tailor is clearly careless with the clothing. Mistakes like this can happen (although they really shouldn't with customers clothing) but a respectable business owner would've owned up to the mistake and tried to rectify the issue and that is the reason I felt the need to leave this review. read more

Some of the past cleaners we used did not do a thorough job with cleaning so we wanted to find a place that could get the job done properly. I've come here for alterations since my office is so close. Kay has done terrific work on altering a suit, hemming multiple jeans, taking in jackets, cuffing pants, sewing falling buttons, and basically all sorts of large and small tailoring needs I have. The prices and the work time are a complete deal. Best of all, my wardrobe fits, and I save money on not buying entire new clothes. UPDATE: I took a star off. The work has still be fantastic, but the promised completion time is so-so. I've had a couple experiences where the items of clothing were promised on a certain day and have had to pick them up a day or two later, sometimes a few days later to have them completed. It can be a HUGE hassle especially if you're planning to have a piece for an event. It's an annoyance, but since the work is quality, I can live with the so-so scheduling (for now). Just make sure you're clear EXACTLY when you want it and set it down in stone. read more

Terrible experience. They ruined two $300 sport coats I brought there for tailoring. I needed the sleeves brought up about 1-2 inches and asked if they would move the sleeve buttons up as well. They measured me and said they would be able to provide this service. When I come back to pick up the jackets, I was surprised to see the buttons had not been moved and the string of four now began right at the end of the sleeve creating a very awkward look for the sports jacket. They explained that these were button holes and therefore the buttons could not be moved. I then asked why they originally said they could move the buttons and if found out later why they did not call me to offer me a choice. Their response was verbatim "not our problem". The agreed upon deal was $30/jacket and I told them if not free of charge, I want a severe discount. Again, they reiterated not their problem and would not release the sports coats to me unless I paid. Aside from complete incompetency, the customer service was abysmal. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs. read more

I had an outfit emergency for my brothers wedding a week prior to the wedding. I order something online and it came in about 2 sizes too small! The tailor here was able to get me right in and see what she could do to get me in the outfit. It cost me about $60 for a blouse and bottoms to be hemmed and opened up but the turnaround was amazing. I have been a customer ever since 1998 when I moved into the neighborhood. During that time I have tried other cleaners based on reviews from friends and have always returned to this store. Kay, the owner, also does a lot of alterations for me and now knows my measurements so I don't even have to try the clothes on before the work is done! The cleanings are great for a reasonable price and she takes good care to send things back when necessary. I did have a problem with a comforter which was messed up when cleaned. Kay actually paid for a replacement comforter and told me what to look for in a new one so we didn't have any more problems. It is hard to find this kind of service today! read more
