We had a assortment of sushi dishes, seafood salad, the jalapeño Mexican app, and tempura appetizer. For our main we had an assortment of sushi combinations. All the food tasted fresh and good. Presentation was very basic. We arrived early and had no trouble getting a great table. By the time we left the place was full with a waiting line. Our waiter Jessica was friendly and very attentive! The only negative I have is that the bathrooms were a mess and since it was 5:00 and the place had very few customers this was shocking. Both the men's and ladies were awful and there were employees standing near the bar not doing anything. We would definitely go back but next time I will complain about the bathrooms if it's the same. read more

I have always had a sweet spot for hibachi. I used to go to Benihana's as a kid. We decided to give Okawa a try a few years back. It's a little hidden and many wouldn't even know it's there. The restaurant is always very clean and orderly. The smell when you enter the restaurant is intoxicating. We always choose Hibachi over a traditional table. My kids love the show they put on. With COVID rules in place a family can now enjoy a whole table to themselves. We have tried just about everything on the menu. Our favorite is the dinner for two with the shrimp and chicken. From ordering to when the chef comes to the table is usually a 10-15 minutes wait as they are prepping your food in the back. The prices and food selection are always good and their sushi specials are hard to pass up and always exquisite. Most of the meals come with Miso soup and a small side salad. The hibachi show is very typical but still enjoyable and fun to watch. One thing I highly recommend is getting a side of noodles. The seasoning was amazing and there was a huge portion for the price. The fried rice is good but it's nice to mix it up. I have been to this restaurant maybe 7-10 times and have never had a negative experience. I highly recommend it. The only thing I can say it watch out for the front step. When leaving a dark restaurant it can be hard to see and my mother actually fell two years ago. Service was good but me and my family did not think the food was good. The salad served was all browned lettuce, I was surprised they even served it. We did not find our entrees to be good, we only were able to eat the steak out of the entire meal and it was just ok. There were 3 adults , 1 child and 1 infant and were counted as a "party" even though my infant didn't have a meal ordered so they included their own tip into the bill, which was fine since service was good. But just a heads up to anyone with more than 4 regardless if you have a baby, they will include their gratuities so if service isn't great that could be a downside. Lastly, there are big cobwebs on the window sills, and I didn't find the restaurant to be particularly clean, especially with how expensive it is to eat here. read more

Bad location and a big investment made in what I thought was going to be a disappointing experience. I was so wrong. We arrived about 5 pm on a Friday and were seated immediately at a grill (teppanyaki style) table. Service was quick to take drink orders which seemed to be very fairly priced, and the drinks were pretty good I must say. Orders were placed, we had lobster, scallops, and prawns for two. Very entertaining cook and the quality of the food was great! I think I would forego the lobster next visit as it was a bit tasteless but what I expected, however the prawns were amazing as was the rice and vegetables. The entire grill experience was very well done with lots of fire, flames, and fun. It not just a teppanyaki grill restaurant giving you many choices for your meals, sushi bar, seated tables ordering off a menu, and the teppanyaki grills of which I believe there were 10. Okawa is located in the old Outback steakhouse location. They've been open over a year now and it seems like most of the bugs in the service are worked out. The Hibachi was entertaining. Half of the restaurant is set aside for hibachi tables. Each section seating 8. The other half of restaurant is sit down menu service and sushi The price isn't cheap. But you do get lots of food. For $2-5 more you can get two or three different protein items. The Fried rice was good also $2 extra. Some of our group chose to order off the menu instead for appetizers snd main dinners. Our chef was very entertaining and we enjoyed the experience. Service and servers were good. No complaints. We had one person in our group who knows Japanese with the staff we found out that all the stFf were Mandarin and not Japanese. We thought that was funny. Overall we recommend. read more

This place was so so. Completely different experiences both times we went about 4 months apart. One cook used sooo much butter but seasoned with salt pepper garlic and was great. Servers are crappy I don't know how well they get paid but it seems like they hate their life and job. The most recent time we went was yesterday 11/13/21 we told the server and chef ot was my daughters bday. They ignored it and did not sing. The food was bland no seasoning at all! The fried rice was eggs and rice and soy sauce. It was crappy the chef did 1 single trick that's it and we had kids with us to enjoy the show- isn't that part of Hibachi grill? First: Make reservations! The place was packed, and if you want a seat at a hibachi, reservations are a must. You will be seated with others unless you have a party of 8-10 people. I can't comment on sushi, I've caught and cleaned way too many fish/crabs/clams in my life to ever eat raw seafood. We had steak and chicken. Parents had filet and lobster/scallops. The whole meal was cooked to perfection. Right down to the correct temp on the steaks. Some have posted the the food was bland; it can't have a ton of spices or condiments because your sharing the griddle with other people who have different tastes and needs then you. Expect the food to be fresh with salt/pepper and some butter/oil. As to coming back, yes I kinda feel it's a bit gimmicky. Many years ago we had Shojis in town. It's great to take company and friends out, but not really a place I'd take the wife and myself too that often. That being said, it was very fun and we had a good time. Lots of food, huge portions. We were seated right away on a Saturday night it's important to note that they divide the restaurant and a half 1/2 is full menu and the other half is typical Japanese steakhouse being cooked in front of you. Hibachi style food was decent. The fried rice was OK but I feel like it needs vegetables. The noodles they serve with hibachi meal Wentworth put it on the plate. I suppose they're nice if your hungry and wanna eat but I wouldn't serve them. Panda Express has better noodles and I don't like Panda Express. The service was very good it's minimal but they work hard. The kids meals were affordable so if your hungry this is definitely a good place to eat. If you're picky you may have a few problems. I am a long time customer at okawa. I order to go at least once a week from them. Went in today with a group of 4 waited for 10 minutes at the host stand before someone came to help us. We asked for a table where they cook in front of you and the lady helping said okay and grabbed menus to take us over. Then another lady came running out from the back whispered something to the lady helping us then took the menus and said we had to wait for more people. Okawa is a fun place if you like the action of sitting at the hibachi grill where they provide entertainment as well as good food. Not my taste but fortunately for me they also have a sushi bar in the back as well as standard dining. There are plenty of different menu items depending on your mood. Service is usually excellent. The only issue is food consistency which can vary from 3.5 to 4.5 depending on the night. We will continue to be regulars here as it's usually a decent option for sushi. read more

Decided to try after reading reviews. Disappointing. Iso Roll was mushy inside and pretty much tasteless. Ordered vegetable fried rice with added beef. Was charged $8 extra for the beef - there were maybe 5 LITTLE chunks and, oh, was it vegetable fried rice to begin with, well they forgot the vegetables. Also ordered a Banzai Chicken meal which was decent, not great. That is the only reason this review has 2 stars instead of 1.
