Have been to this location multiple times and it is delicious every time. One of my favorite poke spots. There are tons of toppings and sauces to choose from, the fish is so fresh and the portions are generous. this is my favorite place to go i actually refuse to go to another poke place. I have had two friends who have worked here in the past and they also say it is so yummy and very clean in the back. My experience is that they are confident It's gluten free until someone else walks up behind them to say otherwise. One server walked me through to memorize what my gluten-free options were, then after my order was complete, another worker asks if I'm allergic to gluten- hence they had to throw out my bowl and start over because two items had gluten- and BTW- if you already have gluten free tamari, why not just use it all around? You'd have less issues to deal with. Also- with all the seaweed salads out there that are normally gluten free- what did you do to it just to add gluten? The seaweed salad makes a big difference to the flavor of the poke bowl- I hope this place figures things out someday- the order took half an hour to process to go from the moment that they started on my bowl to wrapping it. I had to eat in a rush in the car. I ordered the pokeritto.. the picture looked good!! But it came all mixed up on the inside and it was already so soggy! (Ate it while driving to work) Literally had to peel the paper off the seaweed. It was tasty... but why is it already so soggy. Once you sign up to their rewards by text you get really great offers every month. We got free dole whip last night! The line can be long but they are pretty fast, and very friendly. The people at the counter last night were very thoughtful and let us go straight to the register for our dole whip, and then the person who seemed to be the manager came out and gave it to us directly when she saw the cash register person was very busy with the line. I swear I already wrote this review but apparently not. I have been living nearby for almost a year now and I visit this place probably every other week. The poke is amazing. The fish tastes fresh. The mix-ins are fresh and plentiful. There are so many sauce combos to try! The people here are always incredibly friendly and busy. I have eaten here enough that I have gotten at least three free poke bowls (~30 bowls purchased). They transitioned their loyalty program so it was a sad couple months without getting credit for all my purchases, but now they're back, the rewards are visible online, and it's great! Things to try-- I love how they have the pokerittos and chips as options. So fun and not seen in many other poke places. While my go-to order is still a bowl, sometimes I will get the chips and make myself a loaded poke nachos and it is fantastic. What a treat! All the main mix ins are included in the price. You can always pay extra for an extra scoop of crab or avocado. There are a few mix ins at the end that cost extra like mango and cream cheese. Honestly, I was skeptical but I had a bowl of chips with tuna, toppings, cream cheese, and spicy sauces (mostly firecracker), and it was fire! They also have a wide variety of fish, including crawfish which I don't see often. It's my partner's favorite and he always gets 1-2 scoops in his bowl. So, in general, you come in, order along the counter with all your mix-ins, fish, and sauces. This is a quick service place with moderate seating available to eat inside the place. The whole process flows smoothly and they are able to work through all the orders quickly, even when there's a long line. They're always making bowls like mad, even without many people in line. Online ordering is a big thing for this restaurant I guess and if you're in a rush, consider placing your order ahead of time. One thing I haven't been able to figure out-- peak or rush times! I went once at 1:30pm on a Friday during the school year (I was hoping to miss the lunch rush) and the line was to the door! Then I went at like 6pm on a Sat and there were two parties inside dining and no one in line. 3pm on a Wednesday? 50/50 chance you'll have a wait. I swear it's so sporadic. I'm sure they have the data and can tell you exactly when they see people come in, but for me as a customer I cannot get with the program. 9 times out of 10, we still get our food within 5 minutes of walking in. My second time here. I had a customer sales visit in Walnut Creek and before I left I called my wife if she wanted a bowl. Just the week before they started their rewards program and I received a BOGO. Score!!!! They don't have a small bowl so I ordered two mediums. For Wifey: 5/5 All spring mix, I love that they have a simple salad dressing to "wet" the lettuce. Most other companies just add dry lettuce and "hope" whatever sauce in their bowl drizzles down to the lettuce. They also offer for your toppings, on top or in the bowl. I chose on top, everything looked gorgeous. Only the fish was washed in there sauces. For me: 5/5 50/50 spring mix and white rice. All my goodies and fish in a bowl, add sauce and mixed. It was perfect when it saturated the base. Medium size bowls were large enough for two if you are a light eater. Fish was fresh, salmon and yellowtail was spot on, ahi tuna was a little mushy. My partner and I love going to oke poke! The freshness of the food never disappoints and they also pack your bowl a lot more than other poke restaurants. The staff is always so patient with us when ordering~ even though I know exactly what I want, I still take a bit of time to order. I normally don't like to dine in with casual fast food restaurants but the island music makes dining in more enjoyable. DON'T DO IT, GUYS!!!! Stay away!! My Poke bowl had a kale base: of which was 99% rotten!!! The kale salad was completely bad....discolored yellow leaves and mainly black/brown stems. The stems are typically removed from the kale as they are quite fibrous and tough...however, they chose Not to do so here at Oke Poke. Completely made me not want to eat it at all. Serving size is very stingy ....i ordered a large, 5 scoops of Protein ....counted out about 20 pieces of protein TOTAL! Reminded me of the whole Chipotle serving size issue. Fish was very fishy and had a slight ammonia smell...might've been sitting out too long or was way too damn old to be serving. I've got to race about the manager on site yesterday for their BOGO event. The BOGO is (and this is 2/2 times I've participated) a FUSTERCLUCK. The first time they didn't bother making my order (no, really, the literally overlooked it even though it was there and I made it well in advance, but I was limited lunch break so had to dip without my food, and was subsequently reached out to but for the day it was a bummer) so THIS time I was prepared! I ordered online through their site, you know, to be EXTRA careful, and got my email confirm. I then battled 6pm traffic and downtown WC (IYKYK) to park and snap up my order on the way to an event. The poor checkout staff couldn't find the order. So they get the manager. All this, btw, in the midst of a line out the door and other pickup orders flying out- this place was BUSTLING. The workers were going so hard, the customers were kinda impatient, it was chaos. The manager takes the time to figure out the issue- apparently their website likes to take orders and only sometimes likes to communicate those orders to the store. They had a record of my order, but hadn't made it and needed to charge me for it bc the online payment apparently will be refunded. Technofail whatever. BUT!!! Manager was so kind. So clearly keeping a professional poise and calm despite the chaos and pressure going on. She was courteous, she went above and beyond to get my order out to me quickly and completely, and even hooked me up with a freebie dole whip. I was definitely frustrated by the apparent overwhelm of the system (AGAIN), but this manager deserves recognition and a raise. And the food was excellent. read more
