Surprised I haven't tried this place sooner! Lots of parking available. They have a nice variety of items including rolls, bentos, and udon. We tried the following rolls: - Orange County roll $14.99 - O.M.G roll $15.99 - Fire Fire roll $14.99 - Fried Squid Tentacles $8.50 (came with 3 skewers) All the rolls were good and fairly big! My favorite was the O.M.G roll. The squid was also good and came with a sweet and sour sauce on the side. Service was also great! They were really nice and attentive. Overall, good portions and would definitely come back.

I've driven past this place many times, I finally stopped and it did not disappoint. We were seated within a few steps upon walking in. The server was super friendly and gave us great recommendations. We could not have picked better food items, but then I'm sure everything is delicious, too bad I don't remember the names of at the stuff we picked as a group of 4. Definitely coming back.

Came to this restaurant on a casual night out and it did not disappoint. The fish and rolls here are delicious and you really get a bang for your buck. Service here is great too, our server was very friendly and attentive! Highly recommend

Garlic Albacore Roll

Ordered some items to go for lunch. The garlic albacore roll was surprising- I thought there was rice with it however it was all crabmeat and shrimp tempura inside with seared albacore, avocado slices and an abundance of red onions. The fried garlic was on the side with worked out well bc there was a lot going on with the onions so I was able to pick at it. We also ordered the miso soup, spicy garlic edamame which was very flavorful and a baked salmon roll. It all tasted good and satisfied the cravings.

We used to come here often when it was Shark Sushi and we never tried it until recently. We were pleasantly surprised and had such a great experience that we kept coming back weekly until I needed to try something else. It is definitely a favorite Japanese spot now and thankfully so close to our home. The bento boxes are a great value if you want to sample different items. Service is always great.

Great service ! Well paced timing on bringing our items to the table which at some sushi joints can be an issue . The fish & scallops were really fresh and ice cold which is underrated. This is a solid local casual sushi spot !

Disgusting over priced. I got a sushi spot down the street that I would much rather go to any day but they are not open on Sundays

This is the best choice for traditional style izakaya and sake in the surrounding neighborhood!…read moreCan't beat their happy hour sake deals. We usually sit at the tatami area which is more intimate for hubby and I. We order a bunch of items to share since the menus are quite large. We really like the assorted skewers on both meats and seafood. We enjoy rice soups, grilled fish collar, assorted sashimi, box sushi, blue crab hand roll, rice balls, steamed eggs, soft shell crab and so much more. The service is consistently good. A great izakaya restaurant for small plates and sake!

I came with a large-ish sized group so I was able to try a little bit of everything, and honestly it was all pretty good. If I were to come back I would definitely order the Beef Udon again as well as some of the meat skewers including the meatball and the steak with ponzu. // Restaurant: Our servers were attentive and quick with refills. They did miss one of the menu items that we ordered, but they quickly got the order in and the food came out nice and hot. Inside they have traditional Japanese seating (shorter tables, you sit on the ground) as well as tables that can accommodate large and small groups alike. // Notes: Prices are about what you would pay at other izakaya's. From the outside it definitely does not look like much, and the area is kind of sketch but it is def worth a visit!

We waited almost 40 minutes for our food, which was frustrating enough. I ordered several pieces of salmon and yellowtail nigiri, and every single one had wasabi hidden underneath the fish. There was no indication on the menu, and our server never mentioned it. My mouth was on fire, but what upset me most was that my son also took a bite and had the same experience. Plenty of kids eat sushi, and customers should be told if wasabi is already included under the fish. When I brought it up, our server apologized and initially said it wasn't supposed to come that way. Then the owner said it was intentional. Another owner tried to tell me it was "traditional" and "common," even though it wasn't disclosed anywhere. Instead of acknowledging that customers should be informed, I felt like they were trying to convince me the problem was mine. They also brought us our roll 45 mins later that was mostly avocado with very little fish and missing cucumber which only added to the disappointment. To their credit, they did remove our bill, and I appreciate that. However, by that point the experience had already been soured by the lack of communication and the way our concerns were handled. A simple warning that the nigiri is served with wasabi under the fish would have prevented the entire situation.

My first visit to Chubby Sushi felt like coming home…read more As a party of one, I was welcomed in and given a seat right at the chef's table, where I got to watch all the artistry and hard work that goes into every dish. It turned what could have been a simple dinner into a memorable experience from the moment I sat down. I ordered the sashimi plate, and it was absolutely outstanding--fresh, beautifully prepared, and surprisingly well-priced for the quality. What impressed me most was the honesty of the staff. I was considering ordering a larger portion, but they actually talked me out of it because they knew I wouldn't finish it. They were right. That small gesture showed me they cared more about giving me a great experience than squeezing a few extra dollars out of my wallet. That kind of customer service is rare these days. What makes this experience even more memorable is that I had just come from X Fish Izakaya, where I spent nearly an hour waiting to be seated while watching people who arrived after me get seated first. I left feeling frustrated and completely overlooked. Walking into Chubby Sushi was the exact opposite experience. Here, I felt welcomed, appreciated, and genuinely taken care of from the moment I walked through the door. As if the food and service weren't enough, on my way out I met a well-known food reviewer and even got the chance to hold a giant tuna head that Chubby Sushi had on display for a photo. It was one of those unexpected moments that made an already great night unforgettable. Sometimes a bad experience leads you exactly where you're supposed to be. I'm genuinely glad X Fish Izakaya dropped the ball because it led me to discover Chubby Sushi. This wasn't just a great meal--it was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time and one I'll remember for years to come. I'll definitely be back. Chubby Sushi didn't just earn my business--they earned a customer for life.
