L5. Mongolian Beef egg N3. Fried Rice
    Portia D.

Mongolian beef was a bit sweet. The fried rice really tasted like normal rice. I'm from the Midwest where our fried rice is darker and full of flavor so if that's what you are used to you won't like this. Portion size was good though.

12/28/2022 (geez...almost a year before posting 11/30/2023) Afternoon. Nice ambiance Fragrant delicious smell from kitchen Tried 2 dishes Lettuce wraps with chicken..omg flavorful. Savor every bite. Lettuce crisp and fresh. Beef with Cilantro Soup. Large bowl! My main course. Couldn't eat all of it. Definitely could be shareable with another person. Green tea. Loved the idea of having a pot and pour as you need. $2.50. Worth it! Spent under $22 for my meal. Young lady/hostess was nice. Periodic check-in. Didn't rush you. Patient with whatever question I had. I'll definitely add this to my rotation of restaurants when in the area. 11/30/2023....they should know me by now! I'm in there at least once a month. I'll actually plan on going tomorrow, 12/1/2023. Food is sooo good here...always hot! Many dishes to try.

Food was fresh and the dinner is large with a small side of fried rice with included $16 price. Quantity and price match.

Just enjoyed takeout from Sho Spicy again! Delicious as always . . . Fresh, tasty, well-seasoned, and well-prepared. Sho Spicy never disappoints. They honor your requests, making sure you get the full-on Szechuan heat or the less-than-melting palate mild seasoning. If you like to get your spicy heat on, or if you like your Chinese take-out on the mild size, you'll definitely enjoy this delicious food.

Sho Spicy is my go-to restaurant for Chinese takeout. The food is always fresh and the portions last me about 3 meals. My favorite thing on the menu is the Kung Pao Chicken. It comes with a side of white rice (you can upgrade for fried rice - but in my opinion it isn't worth it. Their fried rice is very lackluster. There are minimal veggies & egg...not worth the extra charge). As an app, I love the Veggie Spring Rolls - so crispy and delish! While I've only eaten inside the restaurant once, it was a great experience! It was very quiet - my group was one of the only tables, as it was a weeknight. The service was friendly and the food came out quickly!

Got takeout: (1) double cooked pork and (2) spicy dry fried eggplant. Rounded out to about $33 without tip. Both came with white rice. (1) double cooked pork: okay but very fatty and oily. Cooked with thick green onion slices or maybe it's a different type of vegetable. Idk it's almost a little too decadent. (2) dry fried eggplant: sautéed with herb stems and peppers. Pretty good, the pieces are thick with the crust sort of crunchy while the inside is very soft. Spice level was around mild/medium but if you're sensitive to spice, I wouldn't recommend this dish. Portions are very large, each order could last for 2-3 meals. Service: super nice and polite, they had my order ready in less than 10 minutes. Overall: I would recommend this place for a casual lunch spot to try (seems to have lunch specials for $9.95)

    Crab Rangoon

When I walked in the restaurant, I definitely thought the food would be overpriced because of how gorgeous the interior looked, but the menu surprised me. The food is in fact quite reasonable. It was a cold afternoon so we ordered a tea pot of hot jasmine tea that cost about $5.95 For appetizer we ordered some crab rangoon (the shell was quite crispy but I was not a huge fan of the filling), we got the chicken coconut soup which was so amazing (the flavor of the cilantro mixed with the shrimp and the coconut was mouthwatering), the last thing we got for the appetizer was the numbing beef rolls- they were served cold as its supposed to be and we loved them. For entrees- we ordered the fried rice, spicy garlic eggplant and hot n numbing chicken (for me- it was alright because everything had a sweet taste to it) but I'm sure you'll enjoy it if you don't like very hot food. The staff here are very welcoming and sweet so that's always a plus. It's a great date night place because of how pretty it looks. Don't worry about parking at all because there's always plenty of parking available right in front of the restaurant.

Everything was DELICIOUS. The scallion bubble pancake came out HOT, like hurt-to-touch HOT. It was crispy and airy. It was served with a side of mild curry sauce. The noodles, lamb, and eggplant came out hot temperature-wise as well, but they were also hot spice-wise, especially the cumin lamb. The spice levels cleared my sinuses, LOL. But though I struggled with the spice, I kept on eating because all of the dishes were delicious and flavorful. The tender lamb was served on little skewers. The dry fried eggplant was super crispy; the pieces were shaped like spicy fries. I liked Grandma's noodles even more. The noodles had that bouncy, chewy, hand-pulled feel and were covered in vinegar & hot chili oil. I appreciated the portions. Despite being an appetizer, Grandma's Noodles came out on a large plate, and for being small plates, the eggplant and lamb were pretty filling. The service was also friendly and attentive. My food came out quick, and the staff constantly kept my glass of water filled. My only annoyance was the $1 charge for the bowl of white rice, but the food and service more than made up for that small, inexpensive annoyance.

The whole setup is like a mini food hall with several authentic Chinese spots to choose from--but Chong Qing is where I landed. I ordered the crispy chicken with garlic sauce and swapped the white rice for a side of house lo mein (yes, it's an upcharge, but worth it). Everything came out on real dishes--not to-go boxes--which I loved. You order and pay at the counter, grab a seat, and they bring the food out to you. Now let's talk about the food... DELICIOUS. The spice level was just right--flavorful with a nice kick, but not overpowering. If you like it hotter, you can definitely add more heat, but I was perfectly satisfied as is. The lo mein was really good too--veggies were fresh with a nice crisp (those onions and carrots were hitting!), and everything tasted well-balanced. Only small note: I wish there was a little more meat in the dish, but it didn't take away from the overall experience. And let me say this--the portion size is VERY generous. I ate until I was full and still had just as much left to take home, which is always a win in my book. All in all, I'll definitely be back to try more. If you're in Chinatown Market and not sure what to pick, Chong Qing Hot Pot is a solid choice. 4/5 stars for me!

The drink was really good, especially for a restaurant!! Very floral tea with fruity mango notes, it was so good I wanted another one. The mapo tofu was very rich in flavor, it had the spiciness but also held the body of the black bean flavor without being oily. So far our favorite mapo tofu in the area. The Yummy Spicy Chicken (fried cubed chicken with peppers) was the same, the crunchiness was perfect and the chicken was still moist. I do wish it had a little more spice but it was still good. I think they're not made in house as they are all uniformly shaped. FIsh & sour cabbage soup. We started with this soup, everyone liked it. I grew up with this soup and think it's good except maybe cut down a little on the sourness(?) Soup dumplings. These were nice, the skin's a little thick but it's not Ding Tai Fung, therefore can't complain. The filling was good, the soup inside was sufficient. I wished it came with julienne ginger in the dipping sauce. Bok Choy & shitake mushroom. Everyone in my group loved this dish. The shitake were the fresh ones, not those dried and rehydrated. The sauce was ok, not terribly sweet. Overall a good dish. Yang Chow fried rice had shrimp and small fried pieces of chicken in it. It was pale looking but fragrant and flavorful. No complains there, Sichuan string beans with beef. I personally loved this dish even though it's not the usual with ground pork minus beef. I could've polished this off by myself but had to share with my 5 other friends. Hot & numbing combination. I love this dish, it had a bit of everything (protein), napa cabbage, black fungus, mungbean noodles. It was not too numbing. Teriyaki chicken was no better than your average mall food court, and the steamed dumplins were just straight up bland. We can't really conclude that they were just having an off day given that all four items we ordered were some of the worst versions of those things. And for $80? Granted, we have plenty of leftovers, but you always do when you order Chinese. This place is absolutely not worth it. Will not return.
