I really enjoyed my dinner. We started with a bbq shrimp app, comes in a kinda Cajun sauce which was delicious, added Mac n cheese, creamed spinach, Brussels sprouts and potatoes au gratin. All of them were very good, I generally don't like Brussels sprouts but these were very good. My filet was perfectly cooked, which it should be and well seasoned. Only complaint I tried a signature cocktail, which was some whiskey sour ish drink, too sweet and just not enjoyable at all. We had a cake waiting at home but will be going back and will a desert next time. I really enjoyed the ambiance, nice, but not over the top. Wow. We visited on New Year's Eve and were completely blown away. The food was outstanding, but what truly set the experience apart was the hospitality and service. We sat at the bar, and throughout the evening nearly every bartender and manager stopped by to check in and make sure we had everything we needed. At the end of the night, one of the managers even walked us to the door and welcomed us back, saying, "This is your home." The stars knocked off is due to food and service. While Both weren't horrible, it did not make me want to come back. Food: we got the chef cut that came with entree, two sides, and butter cake. We got the rib cap, mashed potato and Mac and cheese. The rib cap, seemed like it was pot roast. The way it came apart, just didn't seem like it was quality. The taste was good, not memorable. The mashed potato was the best thing, def just have. Service: we started off sitting at the table with no menus. Probably a few minutes where we could be liking at the menu. One server got our water, then the other with menu. Didnt realize they were both servers, I thought one was getting trained. Everything seemed fine until we got our food. It's that typical service where they forget about you since you have your food. I didn't expect that from a "fine dining" steakhouse. We were done with our steak and we're waiting to ask for boxes but no one came for a verryyyyy long time. Neither servers. Finally one came and said she will bring the boxes. Then the guy comes and says he will bring the boxes but we told him that she was. Ironically, he said that since theres two servers, things get done faster. Which it did not. Had a lovely dinner at OBCH. Glad we used Resy app to reserve, we didn't wait long to get seated on a very busy Friday night. Started off with a lemon drop martini ($15) which was perfect after a long work week. Our server Sergio made the right recommendations: we thoroughly demolished our burrata appetizer ($19) with the freshly baked assorted breads. Made the right choice in picking Braised Short Ribs ($39) which was soooo tender and delicious! My husband really enjoyed his double cut Pork Chop ($38) - so thick and juicy and yummy. Usually when having a negative experience at a restaurant; I tend to avoid having that negativity affect my opinion on the food itself, as I think it's unfair to base a restaurants food quality and taste off a few bad apples. This was not the case for Old Brea Chop House. Both were insanely bad in this case. My girlfriend and I visited Old Brea Chop House for a quick lunch after waking up. To be fair, we were underdressed for such a "fancy" restaurant but I do not believe that allows for the extreme look of disgust I got from the female hostess as soon as I walked in. She was looking down at her iPad, as friendly as can be, saying "welcome" but as she lifted her head and saw us, the instant attitude change and very clear expression of disgust she made at me was insane. She swapped to a very straight forward monotone "how many? Follow me" and that was it, she took us to our table and moved like she couldn't wait to get out of there. I let this go as I am used to some sort of racism or bias in these kinds of restaurants, however experiencing this from our server who was also Asian was even crazier for me. She instantly asked "what special occasion are we celebrating today" in a super sarcastic and petty tone as her first greeting to us, which to me was implying that we couldn't afford to eat there normally and why are we here? Our server only appeared three times max after that for our lunch the initial greeting; to take our order, bring our food. After that, we pretty much had to hunt down any available staff walking near for simple things like getting utensils and water refills. We were avoided like the plague! The interesting part was watching her and the other staff attend to the tables around us like they were extreme VIPs, credit to them for being of American decent while dressing super fancy and rich. I guess this restaurant fosters a culture of judging based on your appearance and applying their service and attitude to each party based off that. Regardless of all this; I can still appreciate good food and will give props where that is earned. Brea chop house failed to do so. The steak I ordered was extremely undercooked inside and burnt on the sear, had super insane salt levels, and was just simply not a good steak. The meat quality it self seems to be of the high end, but the cooking failed it. The creamed corn was just absolutely horrendous, it tasted exactly like the canned ones you get from the store, just heated and garnished with some onions. The way the corn was chopped in the dish also strongly suggest that it's a premade type of creamed corn that they are charging $15-20 for a single serving of. The Mac and cheese was alright, it was nothing special and definitely not something I'd recommend, but at minimum it did taste in house made. Very bland. The braised short rib with mashed potatoes was the only good dish out of the meal. The meat was super tender and not too tough, and paired well with their gravy and potatos. We did enjoy this dish and would recommend this as a must try. Overall, very unfortunate experience at Old Brea Chop house. I recommend you change your culture of service; because despite appearances, you really never know who someone truly is or feels. read more

A great time The high ratings and hype are legit. Old Brea Chop House is a great night out. I live pretty close and I have no idea why it took so long to visit, but I'm glad I did. The drinks were great and the bartender, at least on the night I visited, did not have a weak pour. Our servers were friendly and pretty helpful. Even though its small and gets packed inside, they maintain a nice ambiance- I like the look, especially in the evening around the holidays. Now the food. The flavor was on point. The ribeye and scalloped potatoes were some of the best I've had. My only negative with the food was it arrived a bit lukewarm. The temp of all the food dishes, including my wife's, was just a little too low. It had a great taste but after a few minutes, it cooled too much for my liking. I don't know if that's the norm here our not, but it was the only thing I didn't enjoy. I'll be back- they have lots of item I still want to try. We asked for medium well and it was so tender and just perfect every bite was tasty, this is a great choice if you like garlic. Then our 2 sides were cream of corn, and Gnocchi with mushrooms. The 2 sides were delicious as well my favorite was the gnocchi as it was very creamy and very distinct from any other I've tried. Lastly we had our dessert which I don't remember the name but it was 10/10 on the sweet side forsure. Definitely would come back, the drinks were ok I feel like we're not big drinkers so that can be why we didn't really feel all there for it. Valet is available behind the building or you can self park in the parking structure across the street. We started off with a dozen of fresh oysters, the beet salad and the tuna tartare. The tangy salad dressing was a little strong other than that very delicious. The tuna was very fresh, the subtle taste of the soy sauce complimented the fish well. Mom asked for a rib eye steak 3/4ths done and I had the whole grilled branzino. For sides, we the wild mushrooms and the garlicky mashed potatoes. The main courses were minimally seasoned & delicious. We didn't quite enjoy the mushrooms because they were hard to cut and had a very chewy texture! The portions are sizable! We had plenty to take home. Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert. Hopefully next time. My only real issue was that my fish wasn't deboned properly and I almost cut the side of my cheek with a sharp piece of fish bone on my very first bite.
