Once that cleared out the restaurant was great from the dimmed lighting to the enjoyable environment. Staff was great from the service at the bar to the service at the table. Love this place and have been coming for many years, from before we had kids to now dining here as a family and even bringing our dog once for the patio. The people here are what make it truly special. Over time we've met so many members of the team and built real friendships, which says everything about the level of hospitality. The way they take care of my kids makes every visit feel warm and personal, and being welcomed with champagne when we arrive is always a great start to the night. The side dishes were definitely delicious, but it outshined the entrees. The main dishes weren't bad, but not memorable. The crowd is equally confusing, ranging in age from folks in their 20s dressed in shorts and T-shirts, to older folks who are more respectful of their appearance. The tables are quite close together so ask for a booth if possible. It's very loud and difficult to carry on long conversations without having to shout. What an amazing restaurant!!! From beginning to end. The decor, the ambiance, the service, and of course the food. Plenty of parking at the lot and the restaurant itself is a decent size with a full bar and open kitchen concept. Our waiter, Bo was very personable, friendly, accommodating, and provided quality customer service. We started off with the delicious complimentary bread and butter. Next were the grilled oysters, they were ok, it needed cheese or more seasoning. We shared the 32oz tomahawk steak with bone marrow and two sides of Mac and cheese and cream of corn. We were FINALLY able to try this place. We have attempted a few times, but never planned so no reservations. We tried a walk in but they were full. Their front of house manager was super nice to suggest the bar area which is open seating. We felt bad for the bartender as we were having a full dinner. They have a $35 corkage fee which we used for our own wine since we get our wines from Napa and wanted that specific one tonight. The bartender was nice and gave us water, poured our wine into a decanter and set it up all nice. We were offered a bread basket to start and we went for it. The bread basket is worth the $6! My favourite was the flat cheese thing. We were not sure on appetizers, we were between the bone marrow and the steak tartare. I asked the bartender for his opinion and he strongly suggested for the steak tartare. I am glad we went with his suggestion as it was very tasty! This is now our favorite steak tartare around (since the Cellar changed theirs). For main dish, I am small and don't eat too much so we decided to share the 20oz bone in ribeye at medium rare, creamed spinach and creamed corn. The steak was cooked PERFECTLY, the cow did not die in vain. Our only callout is that typically at nicer steak houses they will cut your steak to share, but not here. That's fine, I cut the steak since my bf is not the best at it. The creamed spinach was our favourite since the creamed corn was a bit different (not bad) than what we are used it. It was creamier than our normal. We ordered the 3 topper sampler with the blue cheese topper, truffle butter and red wine sauce. They were all good Ion their own way, but as a truffle lover, the truffle butter was the winner. For dessert we had the butter cake which was tasty but not crunchy. They have the whip cream on the side and a scoop of vanilla icecream. This is a good dessert to share between 2 maybe 3 if not too hungry. Now for the service and overall staff. I have to mention that their management is 100% on point! The front of house and back of house managers are on top of EVERYTHING! They are watching everything going on and making sure your experience is flawless. We had the managers come around a few times asking how everything was going. The bartenders kept our area clean, refilled our water, made sure our wine was always filled. We did have a small unpleasant experience that was completely outside of their control. Their staff handled it extremely well. Without us even saying anything, the manager was sent our way. I was joking with my bf of what happened without noticing the manager behind me. I was startled when I saw him and he asked me to tell him all about it. I clearly told him that we understood it was outside of their control and we were ok. We were taking a moment to decide and she abruptly says, "The kitchen is closing in 10 minutes." I was shocked. You accepted a 10:45pm reservation on Valentine's Day and now you're rushing paying guests. I brought my wife and son out for a nice dinner and instead felt like we were being pushed out the door. If the kitchen closes at 11, don't seat people at 10:45. It's not complicated. Now the food was the real disappointment. My son's ribeye and mine were burned. Not a proper sear, burned.My wife's filet mignon tasted reheated with dry edges and no freshness.Even the Mexican Coke was flat. Completely lifeless. As a husband and father, it's frustrating and embarrassing to take your family somewhere you expect to be quality and have it turn out like this, especially on a night that's supposed to be special. We celebrated a very special graduation at the Old Brea Chop House and couldn't be happier with how it turned out. I was able to make a reservation for our party of 12 and they gave us a beautiful long table in the back. They allowed me to bring in table decorations and the lighting is dark enough at Lunch where 6 small lanterns, a couple metallic centerpieces and 12 individual candy holders shaped like graduation hats sat atop each place setting perfectly. The service deserves its own paragraph. It was unparallel. As was the food. Everything was delicious, but bear in mind, I don't really eat red meat so I'm not the best judge of steak at a steakhouse. Some highlights for me were: ***The roasted cauliflower steak appetizer which had tahini dressing, pomegranite, sumac, golden raisins and extra virgin olive oil ***The Ruby Red Trout with ancho chile rub and beurre blanc ***The wild field mushrooms with garlic sherry and herbs ***The warm butter cake with vanilla ice cream, creme angleis and strawberries ***The Key Lime pie with graham cracker crust and meringue I want to try their seafood tower, their bread service, the Brick Mary's chicken and like everything on their Brunch menu. The menu had read steak, so we anticipated a steak and got a sandwich. Another downside to this was the other person in our party had a gluten intolerance so the entree had to be remade. The mashed potatoes were smooth, creamy and full of garlic flavor. The Mac n cheese was the star side for us, we added the bacon steak and it gave it an extra touch of smoked saltiness. The multiple cheeses ensured it would be rich and full of flavor. We ordered the 36oz tomahawk medium rare and it was more on the rare side. We don't mind as we can do either or but I would keep that in mind for yourself if you aren't a rare fan you may want to order medium. The steak was tender, juicy and perfectly seasoned. Our knives didn't need to do much work as it cut like butter. The chocolate mousse dessert that comes when you have an anniversary or birthday is very nice, smooth and not too sweet. The butter cake however was the star dessert. It was gooey, warm, soft and perfectly accented with the ice cream and strawberries. Two things they did at the end that made us go WOW: They took our picture and printed it out with a card saying happy anniversary, a really sweet token to have.
