I first joined the Old Chicago Beer tour in 2003 and I've been to Old Chicago restaurants in different cities and different states. The location in Mesa was very convenient to my home so I patronized that location until they closed last year. This new location in Chandler just opened and my membership was transferred here. Today was my first visit to this new location and all I can say is WOW! This is by far the best location I have visited in the Old Chicago family. The bar area is spacious and comfortable and has a good vibe. Below the counter at the bar seats are electrical outlets with USB ports so charging your phones is easy and convenient. The abundance of beers available on draft is impressive, as would be expected. There is also a huge outdoor patio area if you prefer to sit outside. Just finished eating here and we normally don't eat at 3.5 star restaurants and we should have stuck with that. This place was so gross. Pretty small menu with pub like food. My husband ordered an individual Chicago deep dish pizza and it ended up being the same size and depth as our kids pizzas off of the kids menu that were $5 and his was $12. It wasn't at all deep dish which the server said the individual ones come like that. Then they shouldn't have the option for Chicago style if your not going to give that. And it was unbelievably small for an adult pizza, it should not be the same size as the kids pizzas!! Super let down for a pizza place. My chicken sandwich was ok nothing special. Went in to order a dessert for takeout. Wasn't planning on staying because it was so close to close, but it was obvious the staff were all hiding in the back. Someone even looked at me and completely looked away afterward. I saw several people who could see me and completely ignored me. If you don't want to serve people don't work in a restaurant. Completely unprofessional. Everywhere is hiring nowadays. Go work somewhere else if you refuse to give customers the courtesy of being polite. read more

The first time we visited this location it was great. Had an amazing Calzone, couldn't be happier. 2nd visit we had a thin-crust pizza, and it was the WORST tasting pizza we've ever experienced. Although it was supposed to be "thin", it came out on this buttery type of thick bread. Nothing thin about it. Plus, it was totally cold! My kids also ordered a kid pizza and were equally disappointed. On the plus side, service was great, however there is always a long wait for a table. My husband and I just had a couple appetizers and soft drinks after church. Our server was Liz. It took a couple minutes to be seated but we got a comfy booth. We had Sicilian pepperoni rolls and twisted tenders. They were both delicious and we enjoyed them. We couldn't finish them and took the rest home. Haven't been here in awhile but pizza still good and the lunch special is a good deal, however, you have to ask as its not on the menu. Service was wonderful as it was not busy and got personal service. Sorry forgot to take pictures. Always ordered there cheesy garlic bread as it was outstanding. I was told they changed it to sliced bread and I just went ahead and ordered. This is just to say don't waste your money and its just sliced bread with melted cheese. Not flavorfful at all. They play good music, great atmosphere, wait staff was the best, and the food was amazing. Lots of different options for pizzas, and for build your own pizzas. I have now visited the new Old Chicago location a few times and have had great service and food at the bar area each time. Danielle, Sam and Jordan have all been very friendly and been fantastic with service. I highly recommend the Chicken Fried Chicken and the Pizza Rolls. Did not get a chance to review my first time here, but it was not a pleasant experience. It could have been since they had just opened up and the place was packed, but they did give the wife and I a free cookie because our pizza took almost an hour to come. Today's visit was the Old Chicago I know. Our server was quick and attentive. We had the lunch special, which by the way is Monday to Friday and ends at 3 p.m. We got a Chicago thick pepperoni and sausage pizza with a Caesar salad. The food was great! Went for lunch. Lunch specials are really good. I did order the pizza. The crust was really buttery airy and really flavorful. They service is speedy and I was able to get in and out in about 30 minutes. I would recommend this to everybody and I plan to go back to there for dinner. read more

It's very sad when you go into Old Chicago to have dinner & you are seated and no service. We arrived way before 6 pm tonight,sat for 10 minutes and not one waiter or waitress came over to greet us or take our drink order. They were not busy at all yet, so not sure what the problem was. We sat and watched the servers walk past us & yet not one stopped at our table. There was also a manager with a LA Dodger shirt on and she just walked right past us & not even a glance or smile. Visited the Chandler location yesterday. Wasn't that hungry, so opted for the cauliflower appetizer. When it arrived, I was surprised that it looked like someone else's leftovers! It wasn't cooked, served lukewarm. Server didn't come back to see if all was okay but the manager did and I asked her if my dish could be heated up. She apologized and took it back to be reheated. In a few moments, it was returned and still tepid at best. They did bring more garlic sauce on the side. Yay! Just what someone would want. Couldn't eat it and was never offered to replace with a different (edible) dish. So, 8.00 for leftover cold cauliflower and LOTS of garlic sauce. The rest of my party had pizza and seemed to enjoy it. Three were kids and they will eat anything however. read more

I ordered the deep dish pizza Chicago 7. When it arrived it was not what my boyfriend and I expected there was barely any cheese. We talked to the server and to the manager they quickly suggested a different pizza crust and we were extremely happy with the second pizza. This place is absolutely amazing. I have had nothing but good times with great people. Even when I go by myself! The beer is amazing, the food is fantastic and everyone treats you like family. Q is the man to see and have as your server. He's amazing. Has a fantastic memory and is very personable. Funny too! He goes above and beyond each and every time. We request him all the time and he's always happy to have was back! I go often for the mini tours and always have fun completing them and getting to know my local breweries. My girlfriend and I have been wanting to come here for a little while and were excited to come in. We looked up they close at ten and we arrived at 9. To be told the kitchen is closed. Then they turned the lights up at 9:15 as to insinuate they were closing. She got the sunset beach cocktail which was really good and I got a beer. When I saw a new restaurant had entered into the old mexican restaurant's location I was excited. We went on memorial day at 530 pm and was told it would be a 40 minute wait. We gave our number and name and waited (the host even repeated it). After an hour and half, we had not been called. Meanwhile we kept hearing customers who had been seated complain about not getting their food. I got ansey and we left. We never got a text for a table and I suspect it was lost. Nice new restaurant. Food was ok. I ended up getting pizza. It was fine. They don't have awesome pizza so I wasn't expecting awesome pizza. The beer was cold and delicious. As a new restaurant they are working out the kinks in the process. Our server was nice and admitted she was new to serving. She gets a thumbs up for being honest, but it doesn't give you a pass not to try to provide good service. Not sure if she understands the basics of serving as there were too many instances where we had to ask for each step of the dinner experience. After we ordered our beers maybe 10 minutes later she asked how our drinks were.....we only had waters sitting in front of us. We had to remind her of things we asked about with or food order. We ended up asking for the check which took some time to get her attention. Then to top it all off. No pen with the check to sign. Lucky for us we had a crayon at the table! This was our favorite place to go way back when we lived in Glendale and the Bell road location was there. Moved to Iowa, and fortunately Iowa City had an Old Chicago! Moved to Florida, no more Old Chicago, so sad! So, when we visited North Phoenix and drove 45 minutes to go to the Chandler location we were excited! Ordered our usual, Sicilian rolls and Chicago 7 pizza, and then added Italian Nachos to take home. We were pretty disappointed! Pizza was great. But the Sicilian rolls,were lightly stuffed, mostly dough. We were shocked at the change in quality of the dish. It was so scaled back on ingredients. The Italian Nachos were equal disappointment. Wish I had a picture of the last time we had them in Iowa. These had hardly any toppings, lightly sprinkled with cheese and pepperoni. We had to search for flecks of sausage! Gone are the old way of amazing sliced sausage. Just cheap, seems like the pre-cooked crumbles you buy at the grocery store. So disappointed. Went the day before Memorial day. Food was good, service was not great, hopefully they improve this as time goes on. Did not have a high end feel, seems a bit low budget, was hoping for a nicer place. The fan they have to prevent bugs in the bar patio seats is way too powerful and makes the seats a horrible option. Someone needs to fix this. Also the patio lights are way too bright. Overall, the food was good so I'll be back but if the other things are not fixed they won't make it very long. This area should demand a higher end atmosphere. read more
