Tonight's visit sure did make up for our last attempted visit. We called ahead this time and made sure we knew what time they stopped preparing food in the kitchen. 11 was when the kitchen closed so we had an hour to play. It was a little before 10 when we got there. The bar area was busy. We sat ourselves at a booth and waited for a minute for service. Phaedra greeted us with her great smile. She got our drinks ordered while we were looking over the menu. My husband had to go down the beer list a couple times to see what he wanted. They were out of Miller Lite and they don't offer Pacifico. Coors Light and ice tea were our drinks of choice for the night. We ordered some food of course. We wanted to start with a ceaser salad but it came with our main courses. All of our food came out all at once. We ended up eating it all at the same time but it would have been nice to work on the salad first so it didn't wilt on us. The ceaser salad was nicely dressed with salad dressing, cheese and croutons. For our main course I got the twisted chicken tenders and my husband got the spaghetti bake with meatballs. The chicken tenders were so good! They were crunchy and the chicken was tender. The spaghetti bake was hearty! It had so much cheese and sauce to it. It's really dense so we were only able to smash out a little of it. The meatballs were a mix of hamburger and sausage. We aren't really sausage people so we didn't really care for the meatballs. My only complaint about the meal is how overly salted my fries and chicken strips were. My fries were coated in salt. By the time you brushed off the salt and dipped it, it was just overwhelming. I had to stop eating the fries after a couple bites. This visit would have have a total 5 stars! Phaedra took great care of us tonight. The vibe vibe was fun! But the overly salted food and lack of beer options for being a tap house was a let down. I am happy though that we did get to eat here. Went today. From out of town visiting. Evidently they are having issues with their liquor license and cannot serve alcohol? Seriously? A tap house without a liquor license? Service was so so slow. Place was fairly empty, because of the aforementioned lack of a liquor license, and still our meal took nearly 2 hours. In the middle of the afternoon. On a weekday. Food was so over spiced. Avoid. Needed a quick bite after a concert in Boise area so stopped at this spot. They had a reverse happy hour that had a pub sized pizza that was perfect for my needs. I ordered it with meatball and sausage. Perfect taste and size for my needs. Server was helpful. Definitely worth checking out for a late night bite. read more

This location has consistently been going downhill. This last weekend was our final visit. The menu has changed, and not for the better. And now the service is really starting to fall behind. We went on a Saturday around noon for lunch with out of town visitors. It was dead despite the mall being very busy. Our usual favorite, the Italian Nachos, were so disappointing. Much smaller than before, the "chips" were burnt, no more pepperoni slices, but it did seem like there might have been small bits of chopped up pepperoni. I ordered a calzone. It was huge, but it was all dough, hardly any filling. And the dough was not cooked through. The rest of the group got individual pizzas, and liked them. Still a good selection of beers on tap, but that's not enough to make me want to go back. Sad to see that it seems this place is dying a slow death. read more

Please, let me paint this picture. We arrive around 5:25pm on a Sunday. There is no one else in our section when we're seated. We order our drinks and food at the same time around 5:30. I, a type 1 diabetic, take insulin at 5:37. We then watch as our server takes a drink order for another table that has joined our section. And watch as the server bring them their drinks. AND watch them take the tables food order. This took about 10 minutes. We then sit for another 20 minutes without seeing our waiter. We try to flag down a busboy cleaning tables across the room. But he doesn't see us. We begin to wonder if we're being ignored because our baby cried at our waiter lol. At 6:07 one of us from our table makes our way to the front to find anyone to ask about our DRINKS! We then see that the other table is now getting their salads. So this is the point we decide it isn't worth it and leave for the In-N-Out across the parking lot. We did hear from our waiter as we left that he "put our food order in, but forgot to put our drinks in." Which is one thing, but to not check on your table in over 30 minutes is wild. It is a shame because we were looking forward to trying their food, but I don't imagine we'll be back. 0 Stars read more

I've been to Old Chicago a few times and I usually have a pretty good experience. That's why I'm rating it a 4/5 stars. Unfortunately this most recent time was kind of a bust. We had waited quite a long time and then they said they were out of traditional wings which is what we had ordered. Hopefully it was just a fluke. read more

Ordered Italian Nachos to go as a quick snack on my drive through Boise. Old Chicago got the order done right on time, and I just walked right in and picked up the order. Nice! The nachos were pretty good--I liked the unique pasta chips, pizza sauce, peppers, and pepperoni, it was a nice combination of flavors. What would make the nachos even better is if the toppings were more evenly dispersed among the chips. It seemed like everything was piled onto the middle ten chips, and with the cheese all melted and stuck to those chips, it was difficult to share the love with the un-topped chips. Better distribution of toppings and I'd definitely bump this rating up. read more

Third times a charm. I've been coming here with my grandson for 3 years straight and this time was the best. Food Service Everything. Kaylah our server was terrific Attentive and always checking with us to see if we needed anything and to make sure our drinks were topped off. No need to call her or someone over as in our past visits. Jojo and I each had a Keg (20) of wings. Bone in. Tossed in a Jamaican Jerk dry rub which in itself is good enough. They came with celery and carrot sticks. Along with, and we are guessing here a house made blu cheese dipping sauce which was in both of our opinions how a blu cheese sauce should be. Large quantity's of chunks of blu cheese. Absolutely Heaven. I also got the Screamin Mango sauce on the side and Jojo got the Firehouse sauce as his side dipping sauce. Both very good. I have been pleasantly pleased in the four or five times I've been able to eat here. Although I forgot to do my check in here today, the meal was a quick and pleasing treat. The deep dish Chicago 7 is a good choice, and pairing that with a Caesar salad, we were satisfied with our impromptu lunch. The menu has many choices that would surely be enough to please anyone. From the appetizers to the main courses, it would be easy to try something different on subsequent visits. The bar area has quite a few seats and several TV's to watch while you dine. The beer tap selection is quite a good one, and those that prefer the wine or spirits wont be left out either. Oh, and as always, plenty of nonalcoholic choices. The staff here for us has always been very attentive and friendly. It's nice that everyone here makes dining here a pleasant experience. read more

Decided to stop in here and wasn't sure what we were feeling but decided on the crafted beer burger. Got it cooked medium rare and boy was not disappointed! Tender juicy mouth watering. We didn't have a lot of choices after 9:00pm on a Sunday, but Old Chicago fit the bill. The wife and I were able to get a couple decent Craft Beers and the Pizza was pretty darn good. The whole family agreed that the Thai Pizza was the Bomb! Definitely worth a try if you are on the fence. The all meat pizza was good. It pretty much expected. Pros: TVs, beer (when they have it), pizza ( when they have it) Called 7 hours ahead and had the manger check on reserving a table for 8 in the bar area. Manager said we were ok and it was for a MNF game. Got there and no one knew about the reservation and all the tables were taken, chalked it up to miscommunication with staffing issues so we walked around and luckily, a table opened up because the table at the bar was wobbly. Our group managed with a shaky table. When we got our menus, 5-7 beers off were off tap and they didn't have any tavern pizza available. As a pizza joint, they're out 1/3 of they're selection, so they are driving you to 8 slice pans and if you have a group of 8, it adds up. I loved the Old Chicago downtown, but if you have parties, there are better options. I rarely go out anymore and wanted to treat my buddies for some help on a project, but it was a bummer that the amount of coordination to get people at one spot and those small details added up. read more

My husband, son, & I visited Old Chicago around noon on Christmas Eve. We had never eaten here before & honestly decided to try it because the wait at Cheesecake Factory was 45 minutes. When we arrived, we were seated promptly and the hostess was polite. Shortly after being seated we were greeted by our server. He asked for our drink order and took our order. We ordered: Garlic cheese bread appetizer Individual deep dish pepperoni pizza Individual thin crust pepperoni pizza with light sauce. The drink arrived quickly and the garlic bread quickly followed. It was basically a place of about 6 pieces of buttered bread with melted cheese & included a side of marinara sauce for dipping. They were very small. If you could get 2 bites out of each piece you were lucky. They definitely were not worth the $7 price tag. When the appetizer came out we all unrolled our silverware. All 3 of us had visibly dirty silverware. There was food stuck to each piece. We requested new silverware and had the same problem. Finally, on our 3rd try, we got 2 forks & 1 knife that was clean. Our waiter was very apologetic about this and we in no way blame him for this oversight. Our food arrived about 20 minutes after we placed our order. The food looked really good! They use the small pepperonis and they were nice and crisp. My husband said that his deep dish decent, but it wasn't something that he would seek out again. My thin crust pizza was supposed to have easy sauce, but they made it with no sauce. I sent it back. The server asked if I wanted to have the kitchen remake it, but I opted not to due to time constraints. There was also an issue getting refills on soda. According to our server, they ran out of clean glasses. It sucked to pay $3.29 for each soda and not have the ability to get a refill. Our server was very nice and attentive. He did take off the individual pizza from our final bill. We realize that none of the mishaps were his fault and so we still tipped him well. It's unfortunate that everything was so disorganized. They had plenty of staff there, but quite a few were just hanging out on their phones and socializing with one another. Will I ever go back? I want to like this place but after yesterday I don't know if I can...after multiple visits the only thing this place has going for it is inconsistent results and service. Yesterday is a great example (1/15/23). Got seated and all is well then waited and waited and waited till our sever noticed we were there. Too busy flirting with other tables to notice we were there. Finally after ordering some drink and then again waiting...waiting...waiting...waiting 15 mins late the 2 beers we ordered came out. Then after ordering our food which was a thin crust pizza which probably took 5 mins to cook along with some Buffalo chicken rolls arrived almost over an hour after we ordered. Been ages since I've dined in (dang covid) and we really enjoyed sitting in a booth and having the dining out experience. I asked the host for pizza recommendation since never been here before. He suggested the Chicago 7. Asked the same of our server and she said the same. Thought we ordered the large (only comes individual or large), because I've had individual pizzas where it's mostly crust. Didn't have to wait long for our Chicago 7 individual hand-tossed pizza. It was perfect for two. Had a lot of toppings and it was busting with flavor. I don't usually get sausage on a pizza as the only one I've had in the past was Domino's and their sausage has a lot of anise in it. Yuck-o. Been working on changing up my diet, so portion control is high on my list. Glad we didn't get the large, it would of been too much. The tab was only $12 + change. This location (Boise Towne Square) is 8 miles from home - in Idaho terms, "That's far to drive, man!" For this ex-CA gal, it's not that far from home. Especially when the pizza is ono. read more

We were visiting from out of state and thought we'd try this place out. There's a location in our home state that we haven't tried but it gets amazing reviews. Well I don't know why the difference, but this was NOT good. Our pizza was absolutely not deep dish by any means. It was literally an overpriced Pizza Hut pan pizza. Boneless wings were also just frozen chicken with light sauce. With their wings being $2 each, we were expecting a little more. We should've just gone to Pizza Hut for the exact same meal at 1/3 of the price. read more
