Great prices, great food, and pretty authentic too. In this particular cafeteria/restaurant, I like the sandwiches more than the plates. Even though I normally lower the rating for having food from other countries in a 'Cuban' restaurant, the Tripleta Sandwich (typically Puerto Rican) is amazing here. The Cubano Deluxe is also amazing - when I normally skip Cuban sandwiches. More selection than others in the area. Their coffee is great, great colada and cortadito. I normally grab a dozen 'Pastelitos de Queso' (Cuban) or 'Quesitos' (Puerto Rican); they will understand both and are the same item; have them cut in half and take them to work. I went over with my Dad on Sunday after church. We order fresh juices and cuban sandwiches. The ambiance was kind on noisy.. The fresh juices were awesome taste but the sandwiches were missing the mustard. I don't know if the forgot to served or it comes on the side. read more

My girlfriend and I came to this location on 1/6/19 around 2pm. We've experienced the excellent Old Cuban Cafe on Colonial near Alafaya so we figured we'd give this one a try. We both ordered churrasco (medium rare) steaks with rice and black beans ($15.99 each). When we received our order the steak came on a sizzling hot plate while surprisingly, the chimichurri sat FROZEN (oil separated and all) in a PLASTIC container on this sizzling hotplate. I let it go and cut the steak; both of our orders were well done, brown on the inside and out. We don't eat out often and rarely complain, but we at least expected our steak to be cooked to our request. The waiter told us our food would be replaced and so we waited. The replacement came and to our horror, was barely cooked. By barely cooked I mean RAW meat. I've attached a picture I took before the waiter took it away to prove my complaint. This is completely unacceptable and felt as though the chef was trying to get revenge on us for complaining about our original order. The chef there that day should be terminated or at least given a surprise inspection. FYI even though the steak was UNCOOKED it was still tough to cut: old meat. Avoid this location at all costs, anyone not paying attention could have become extremely ill from the irresponsible actions of the staff. Obviously the waiter comped our order, since even he was embarrassed, and we left. I've never witnessed such bitterness and ill will, at the sake of a customer's HEALTH, from a restaurant in my life. I've been here a few times. Their breakfast is good they serve them w French fries which I love cause my daughters love them! Their portions are big you get a lot of bacon a huge tostada de pan cubano. Their colada w leche and sugar is to die for!! Service has been great. Been served by the same lady w the red hair. I used to get some awesome coladas here. But they have gotten lazy and now they are terrible. You are suppose to stir the sugar in the colada as the machine is brewing it, you don't just add sugar after done. If not you won't make the espumita and all the sugar sits at the bottom. Update: gave them another chance. All they do now is put sugar in your cup and throw the Cuban coffee on top. They don't even bother stirring it. This place is garbage. Heard on the spanish radio about this great restaurant and bakery so we thought we would try it out. Sat waiting for a server for almost 10 minutes with 3 walking right by us without even a hello. I finally went to the counter to get my own menu, another server walked right past me without a hello. 10 min later, a person finally came to take our order. Funny, another family came in, sat and were addressed within maybe 2 minutes of sitting down. Maybe we did not look hispanic enought? The bread they used for our sandwich was not fresh and the food did not wow me at all. Bakery? What bakery? they had two small cases with Flan type desserts and an even smaller case with a few pastelillos. That is not a bakery. They had 3 televisions going on with different channels and one was so loud you could barely talk to the person sitting accross you. I left with a headache and very dissappointed. I went to this place for the first time. My girlfriend and I were greeted warmly as we came in. The menu has a nice variety from sandwiches and soups to complete dinners. My girlfriend started with a small Sopa De Pollo (chicken soup.) It was excellent! We both ordered Ropa Vieja. It was absolutely the best I have ever had at any price. It came with arroz amarillo, frijoles colorados and maduros. All of these were excellent! The quality and quantity totally exceeded my expectations. We were so full we did not stay for dessert. I'm Cuban-American born & raised in Miami & have been on a three-year search for a good Cuban restaurant. I've been to the cheap & expensive Cuban Restaurants across Central Florida from Mt.Dora to Osceola County. Most are ok, but this is hands down the best Cuban restaurant in Central Florida! I had the pechuga de pollo a la plancha (grilled chicken breast) with moros (rice cooked in black beans) and platanos maduro (fried sweet plantains). The chicken was accompanied with grilled onions, as it should be, moist, and seasoned perfectly. The moros were perfection & authentic (cooked with pork fat, which is actually healthier than hydrogenated oil)!!! The maduros were also very good. I tried a bite of my boyfriend's pollo empanizado a la milanesa (breaded chicken breast with ham and cheese) and it was also perfection!!! We also had a flan de coco and pudin de pan for dessert.... Beyond perfection! I'm in heaven!! I can't wait to go back & try other dishes. We are definitely going back for breakfast!!! read more

I come here for the sandwiches and the coffee. They have the best "Media Noche". A Media Noche is identical to a Cuban except it's served on a sweet roll. They serve it pressed, with a side of fries. They also serve a great breakfast sandwich called a "Criollo". A Criollo is a pressed ham, egg & cheese sandwich. They serve it with fries and a late coffee. They also have a great chorizo sandwich. I've come to this restaurant a few times because I'm a Cuban from Miami that needs her fill of Cuban food every once in a while. Every time we've come, we are told to sit wherever we'd like and then wait for at least 10 minutes for them to bring a menu. Then another 10-15 minutes for them to take our order. They never seem to communicate to each other whether or not a table has been helped so we have multiple people throughout our hour of sitting and waiting come ask us if someone has taken care of us. The food is always delicious, it's just annoying to be ignored. It's another waiting game when we are done eating. I don't know if it's because we're young looking or maybe because we don't seem like we are fluent in Spanish. Who knows. I don't think that I should have to flag someone down to bring me a menu and then to take my order and then to take my plate and then the check and then take my money. Besides that....the food satisfies my Cuban craving so that's good. read more

This is the third time I go to this place. On my first visit I tried the Cuban sandwich which I rate below average. The second time I went for the Cuban hot food and had no complaints, it was good. I'm my third and last time , I went with my wife and she wanted a sandwich so we ordered two tripletas. THE WORST SANDWICH THAT I HAVE EVER HAD. The Old Cuban Cafe is a gem..let's just say that we have known The owner's cooking (Julio) for about 8 years now from his Winter Park location to now in his Goldenrod location. My mother in her 80s was born and raised in Cuba and considers herself a "Pastelitos de Guayaba" connoisseur and gives him best in Orlando and top rating compared to Miami and Puerto Rico ones. I personally love the "quesitos" and they are delicious. The sandwiches like the Medianoche, Sandwich Cubano (my husbands favorite) and Pan con Bistec are phenomenal and large portions. We cater from Julio the pernil, yuca con mojo and black beans every Christmas Eve to have our traditional Noche Buena Celebration...whomever joins us whether American or Latin are always impressed with the moistness and flavor of the pernil (pork). So go casual and wear something with an elastic waste so you can enjoy true Cuban food!! read more

Rude! I have passed this place a couple of times and always wanted to go in and check it out. Finally came in to order something quick, I saw there were only 2 ladies working. When the waitress finally got to me I asked her a question and she answered quickly and walked away.....I was going to order, but she just left without saying anything. An "I'll be right back would have been nice" So I waited a while longer and nothing....so I left! I don't know about you, but I call that RUDE!
