14 years over a million miles,LOA fired me after little over 2 months. Clearly I had been incapacitated to respond to there requests. ODFL Sacramento terminal manager, Jake Hall ,and western regional manager Jason Garrison didn't even reach out to my emergency contacts to check if I was even alive.The pay is good, but the medical is a waste of time just like corporate.My benefits department called and I had to have my wife speak with them and have me agree that the tons of my PTO I have will cover my benefits.I had to have her talk to them because I was really sick. OD took the money for the back owed benefits. When I finally got out of the hospital to make contact to Jake Hall, he led me on for over a week. On the 8th day, finally he pretended I never even worked there. "Hey ODFL picture is me with double pneumonia, septic,with a ventilator and a 104 temperature".Doctor thanked me for finally coming to the hospital with that great coverage because he said I would have been dead within 2 days when I was in the ICU shortly after and my wife gave the medical insurance I had through them. About 7-10 days later, when I was coherent and able to finally get a grasp on why I'm here and what is happening, they inform me I have no medical insurance . ODFL Sacramento bosses know I would never quit, you were going to be my retirement job. I had dispatch inform me that I didn't need to call off every night. I had the PTO time available for taking that time off,I called off every night so I didn't get a no call no show and had the PTO time to unfortunately not come in. LOA informed a great dispatcher that they were going to put me on LOA even if I have PTO to cover my shifts. ODFL Sacramento employees, I miss you and the great time working with you. I was trying to get through a couple illnesses because ODFL has horrible benefits. How can I go to doctor and get diagnosed testing done? Thank you Old Dominion for cutting benefits just in time for a 11 day ICU stay and another 3 days in recovery. Fellow employees don't rely on them for much always take everything home from work you brought. You never know when your last work day will be with them. I never received a phone call, or a letter, saying I couldn't come back. I called Jake Hall to ask him about it, he said "er, I'm in the middle of something big right now, Mark". And to employees, Old dominion won't want to pay your medical bills and you have a big chance of getting let go. read more

Excellent customer service! The driver went above and beyond delivering to our warehouse at our Yuba City location today. It is a hard location to get to and find but he called gave us a heads up before he was here, unloaded the pallet carefully and was very professional. Even went above and beyond by offering to pick up my Amazon package for me that was left in front of my gate!You just don't get this customer service very often and I just want you to know how much we appreciate it. Ok, I just watched a commercial for this company and I'm scratching my head... they state they are safe and on time.....Well they are far from safe. I'm a trucker and I've witnessed both speeding and also once running a red light ( Industrial and Terminal).... wow!!! On the freeways speeds above 70 and getting over before the Friendly flash. I would give less if I could! They wouldn't deliver Friday even though they had it and I called early morning said I could pick up in roll call but then said no I could not lost 3 days of work I needed to be doing lost money and now have to lose time off work and more money to be around Monday to finally get my equipment they have had since Thursday night. My Equipment they have it I'm not allowed to pick it up and have to take time off work to be around Monday to finally get it even though they've had it since Thursday night. For the past several day Old Dominion Freight Line has had a trailer parked on a narrow two lane street. It's parked on Riverside and 43rd in Greenhaven area of Sacramento. Where it's parked it forces cars into oncoming traffic and puts people at risk. Between SPD being as lazy as they are and Old Dominion's drivers being careless thank God nobody has been hurt yet and there is also a school right there too. read more

Old Dominion is known as one of the better LTL carriers in the business. I had a small problem with a shipment of 4 pallets and received great help from a woman named Rebecca who went out of her way to help me resolve the problem. Later, when Rebecca wasn't around, I also received help from a woman named Kayla who was also very helpful. Shipping in the current Covid world is difficult as the shippers are overwhelmed with the massive increase in volume (my company ships a lot of stuff and we are well aware of the shipping environment). i wanted to thank Rebecca and Kayla for their help. I felt that I had to come here today as I had an LTL shipment with Roadrunner Freight that was the total opposite of my experience with Old Dominion. The freight sat in a warehouse for a week. Nobody could give me any information about it. Calling Customer Service resulted in me waiting in phone queues behind 60-95 callers for 45 minutes. After getting no answers from the Customer Service staff, I escalated my case and received no help there either. After yet a couple more days of no help, I finally figured out how to pick it up from their warehouse and had to wait a couple of hours while they tried to find it, although I was initially told it was ready to pick up at any time. I would definitely use Old Dominion again. I would definitely not use Roadrunner Freight again. I have no association with either of these companies. read more

I own a small business and at this point I practically beg the companies I order from NOT to ship with Old Dominion. My business has lost thousands in missed sales due to delivery timelines not being met. The worst part is 99% of the time their attitude is that they could seriously careless. On this last occurrence, I called twice to confirm the delivery would be BY FRIDAY. Each time they verified that it would be. I was waiting at my shop on Friday until 330pm...nothing...due to past occurrences of this SAME THING, I decided to call them. The dispatcher, without a care in the world, said the delivery was moved to Monday. This delivery was for a 65 year old lady who was getting out of the hospital and desperately needed the items by Saturday. Did that matter...hell no...see you Monday, click. I vented my issue to a couple other small business owners...wouldn't you know it, they have the same issue. My opinion, built on 3 years of disappointments, is that this company does not care about small business. Their attitude barely reaches 1 star and their performance is a zero. If you need service you can depend on, go elsewhere. read more

You had one job. So I ordered a mechanical lift to get my 91 yr old mother out of bed. Last attempt to keep her out of a nursing home. I ordered the lift from a place in Missouri and it arrives in my town (Sacramento) a few days later. I track the shipment and it says "Unloading in West Sacto". I call DO and arrange for a next day delivery ....it doesn't show up. I call the next day (Saturday) and get some very bored man on the line who says that the shipment is in, but DO doesn't deliver on weekends. So I can Monday morning, only to be told that the company can't find the package. This is a $2000, 150 lb device! The woman I speak to never once said "we're sorry" or "we're doing everything we can", but rather makes it clear that this is MY problem, and she tells me to call the shipper and have a replacement sent (hopefully not via DO!). This is a "zero" star review but Yelp doesn't permit that. Avoid this company if you actually want to receive something you've ordered. read more

If I could go below 1 star and rate zero stars I would. Biggest fiasco of unorganized, unprofessional, "I dont care" attitude. You could do nothing to find my "lost" garage door. I ordered September 18th from vendor. item was shipped to you October 11, ready for delivery to me, the customer. Here it is November 2nd and you have yet to call me and notify me of where my item is. Not even a courtesy call to say we're still looking for it. So I scheduled a pick-up thru their freight brokerage service and 24 hours before they were supposed to deliver I got a call saying they weren't interested and no trucks were available. I scheduled this a week in advance. I asked if they had any suggestions about rescheduling and they told me that I should call somebody else. Truly unbelievable. read more

Had many issues. First time, the driver was late and did not call. We were given a 5 hour window and once the driver was an hour late we called and the dispatch stated the driver would be another hour or so. Of course that was unacceptable since we were given a 5 hour window and that was more than enough. The driver had to change routes and go straight to us. The second time wasn't bad and we received our item. The third time, the driver refused to drive over a bridge that was weighted at carrying 80,000lbs and stated on the bridge. Driver did not check and was stated how it needed to be posted and of course no law require that. The driver called dispatch and they did not want to drive over the bridge. Now lets think about this. They had delivered twice before and NOW they did not want to. Doesn't make much sense. The driver offered to give us the dispatch phone number and to call them right then but once my husband saw him in person, the driver refused. The company doesn't seem to have a lack of management or hiring process. I'm nervous to have the company to come back and either not deliver my shipments or worst. Luckily my husband had a truck to pick up the shipment, because could you imagine a woman walking down the road with a 250lb box and unable to get it to her house that was over an acre away?! Let me state this, I have no idea the company would make us drive to pick up our package when the company had no problem driving to our house, not once but TWICE! Both in freight trucks of course.
