My little brother took his car here for a state inspection and some how his 50,000 miles 2018 Ford Focus needed both front control arms, wipers, 3 separate flushes, and other work as well. I'm an auto tech and have been doing it for many years and I worked on that for years before he took it there and those control arms were fine. I went to Old Dominion for a headlight adjustment and State Inspection. To say their customer service is fantastic would be an understatement. There were a few issues (not of their doing) with the headlight and instead of doing what most shops would do and just saying I need a new assembly, telling me a price and leaving it there, they took every step they could in-house to correct the issue and for that I am beyond grateful. I had just moved to Virginia and this was my first vehicle inspection I ever had to do! Needless to say, I was pretty nervous and anxious since my vehicle is on the older side ('99 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS) and parts are hard to come by. I reached out to multiple places to request appointments and Old Dominion Tire Services was the only one who called back. Jonathon called me on a Tuesday and was able to get me in Thursday morning. I arrived a little early and it took them about 30-40min. for the vehicle inspection. They were thorough and honest which I greatly appreciated and I am so glad that I brought my car here. read more

Just had my 2007 Nissan Pathfinder inspected. First time to the shop. Have been looking for a new shop since my old shop is now under new management. Unfortunately, my front brake pads failed inspection. Instead of having them replace the pads, I went to the auto parts store to get new pads and replace them myself. When I removed the old pads, they were worn but nowhere near failing. The law states 0.0625" thickness (2/32) and the old ones were at a minimum of 0.185". The inspector pointed out a crack that could not have been seen when he inspected them (mostly because I cracked them when I used them to depress the piston on the caliper). I ultimately received an apology and was requested to leave the old pads at the shop so they could have a conversation with the owner. Cost me a good couple of hours. read more

Girlfriend's car wouldn't start the other day, and had it towed to this shop just before Thanksgiving. Sat from about 6pm on Monday until 3pm on Tuesday untouched, and with no update/phone call. The kicker here is that they inspected the car and said the fuel pump was bad, quoting her between 700-800 parts and labor (you can buy the fuel pump for under 200 at advance auto parts). We decided to have it taken to a more reputable shop owner, and they tried to charge a diagnostics fee which would have been as much as the part had we bought it ourselves. Come to find out, the fuel pump was FINE. The filter needed replacing. Replaced the filter, saved 600-700$. These guys either have uneducated people working in their garage, or they charge you for shit you don't need to make a buck. Scams. read more

Family has always used this repair shop since moving to midlothian. Always been good experiences until 2017. Had fuel sensors replaced only to act up within a few weeks. Dealer had to replace sensors again and do preventive maintenance due to old dominions quality of repair. Got spark plugs and cylinder changed by old Dominion in October 2019 and now am having same issue less than 5,000 miles later. This is the third car that's had To go to the dealership to have duplicate issues fixed and have damage from old dominion fixed if possible. Don't waste your money read more

I've taken my cars several times for inspections, oil changes, etc to this shop. My old neighbor John Haddon is a mechanic there. I took my SUV for an inspection and oil change. They called to inform me that it wouldn't pass inspection because the lower ball joint on the left side needed replacing. They said the part was 136.00 and they wanted 289.00 in labor to put it in. 586. I believe was the total. So I called a more reputable mechanic. He only wanted 196.00 to replace it. I called Old dominion and advised to reject it so I could take it elsewhere. They called me back and said no, it would pass, it just needs replacing and the reason why it wouldn't pass was because the small bulb around the license plate was out. Picked up the vehicle, took it to the reputable shop, they advised the ball joint is fine and doesn't need replacing. This place is a SCAM. Females beware, they aren't looking out for you!!! I made an appointment for an estimate last week for repairs on my truck. I got there on time and was made to wait due to someone showing up last minute who DIDNT have an appointment. When the gentleman got back we walked out to my vehicle. I had told whomever I spoke with last week the 4 Wheel drive was broken, in addition to the cosmetic damage and that I wanted a total cost for everything to be fixed. I was met with a terrible attitude, and told the only way they can do all that is to take the vehicle apart, which is NOT what I was told while making the appointment. After walking on his crutches to my truck he then turned, told me that we we're done here and that he wasn't willing to do what I took time out of my morning to have done. I have NEVER been treated like that by a business that is there to make money. I am telling the garage that suggested them to stop. Obviously they have enough money to act like total and utter children. read more
