Fantastic! I love what the new owners have done with Old Fields. They tastefully managed to bring the decor and atmosphere into the 21st century, complete with flat panel TVs and iPads for customer use, without losing the soul of the original restaurant established in the 50's. My favorite appetizers are the pulled pork sliders and the spinach and artichoke dip which is head and shoulders above any other I've had. The burgers are excellent, especially the Davey Gravey which is sublime. Try the Filet Mignon Skewers and the Guinness Beef Stew which I think are the best entrees on the menu, although my wife who never likes anything not homemade, loves the 1/2 Roasted Chicken. They have a nice selection of draft beers and I highly recommend the Don Julio and ginger ale. Finish the meal with the icebox cake which my kids have dreams about! read more

Dave Tunney knows how to run a first class restaurant and Old Fields is ALL of that! The atmosphere is cozy, comfortable and relaxed and the service is impeccable. And on top of that, the food is first rate and consistently good, time after time! When the owner and the manager are continually coming to your table and offering you complimentary samples and are intent on making sure everything is perfect, generally perfection is what you get. Hats off to a great restaurant. It's a "must visit" establishment in the heart of Greenlawn. Parking is free and plentiful throughout the town. If you visit it once, you'll be back as a regular. The Lark and Jackson's were the other restaurants in the running. Both of those places have better beer lists. However, since we were close by, we decided to go to Old Fields. We were recommended this place yesterday as "good food, reasonable prices". So we went for lunch…read moretoday. The one thing that struck me immediately was the smell. It smells like a Savers. I don't know if it's the way they clean (or don't) but the smell never left. If you're sensitive to smells, this might be a turn off for you. The menu is kind of standard luncheonette fare with sandwiches around $12-14 and platters in the $20 range. I will say this, the food was good for what it was and it was served hot. It came with no sides and was a bit meager on the inside of the sandwich however. I probably should have asked about refills on iced tea because my iced tea bill was higher than my lunch bill. This seems petty for something that costs pennies to make and costs $3.95 a cup. This, in itself, is enough to keep us from going back though being sensitive to smells might have been enough. Reading past reviews it saddens me that we might have missed the boat on its better days. You should know that they don't accept tips on your credit card...something we didn't know beforehand.
