The atmosphere is definitely upscale and makes for a great spot when you're looking for a special night out. Service was attentive throughout the meal, and the drinks were well done. I went with an espresso martini, which was excellent. We started with the pork belly appetizer, which was just okay, but the rest of the meal was much stronger. Things quickly turned around with the lobster bisque and Chilean sea bass. Both were excellent and were easily the highlights of the meal for me. The sides are served à la carte and meant for sharing, which worked well for our group. This is certainly not a cheap meal, but the quality, service, and atmosphere help justify the price. It's an upscale restaurant, an homage to the steakhouses of yesteryear, yet modern and refined. For a Monday night the place was popping! Being with other colleagues, I was comfortable having a few others make the decisions. We landed on oysters as an appetizer and these were great. Being landlocked we always get the eye roll when they say the oysters are fresh...to their credit, they brought us a nice selection of East Coast and West Coast oysters that I found to be quite tasty! One of the best parts of dining at Old Hickory is their bread and butter. Like woah, it shouldn't be this good! Soft rolls and decadent butter, it's tough to beat a tried and true combination like this. Sides are a la carte like most steakhouses, maybe one day they'll change this! We ordered a few for the table. These were lacking in my humble opinion, the potatoes and brussels were just okay. They do provide a nice sized portion, and a single side can feed 2-3 people. Back to the good, a colleague and I shared the 24 oz. Bone In Ribeye. Now we're talking!!! This was cooked to a lovely medium rare, and loaded with flavor. Ribeyes are obviously one of the superior cuts of meat for a reason, this was buttery, rich, and damn delicious. I was stuffed, but we tried two desserts. I only had a bite of each, and these were presented beautifully and both great. I have to give a shoutout to our server, who took great care of us, made wine recommendations, and seemed genuinely happy to be taking care of us. My party of five had a memorable dinner at Old Hickory Steakhouse this past Monday evening. Chris was our server and he was fabulous! We started with some really great bottles of wine and a dozen oysters. The east coast ones were our favorite. We also enjoyed the fresh rolls and butter. Delicious! A couple of us had the Chilean Sea Bass entree and others at the table enjoyed steak. We shared a side of brussels sprouts and a loaded baked potato. My dad was in town for a work trip, so naturally I suggested we hit a steakhouse for dinner. Old Hickory was, in one word, decadent: the ambiance is classy, the art decor on the wall is refined, and the food is incredibly flavorful and satiating. My dad had a filet and scallops, we split an order of Brussels sprouts, and I had a filet and lobster tail. Great experience at the old hickory steakhouse. Went 2 times during my stay, always sat at the bar. Super kind servers and friendly staff, very proactive and quick to bring things out or clean the eating area which I can appreciate. Did the oysters, the Cesar salad the carpaccio and the shrimp. Everything was good. I will say that the dressing on the salad was a bit acid from the vinegar. I enjoyed it, but my companion said it was too much for him. I'm not sure if it's a one off or that's the recipe I like extra dressing he doesn't so for those of you that don't like a lot of dressing. It might be a little bit much. They did bring over some bread and it was sooo good, steaming hot Yumm and their butter had cinnamon and sugar and it was delicious! The ambience is chill I don't recall any music but there is dim lighting which is amazing also. This is old school steakhouse vibes, with excellent service. Food was top notch, tasty and very elegantly presented. We celebrated our wedding anniversary with lovely service, care and enjoyment. We both had the filet steak, I had wine and husband had martini with blue cheese olive. He had lobster bisque starter and I had tomato salad starter( easily could be shared) we indulged in a super fancy potato that was full of fancy fixings- this was caviar, bacon, truffled cheese sauce, top with gold leaf and micro greens-high roller- we did share this item with plenty for both of us. Tables nearby were just a little loud, and they removed all the booths that were in this area, the seating was by table, chairs were comfortable enough. Right off the top I have to warn you - this place is pricey. It's just not as good as its prices want you to believe it is. Great service and solid food but in the end this is still a restaurant in a mega-hotel and the ambiance is meh and it's not really the fine dining experience that a $150-200 per person spot should be. I was happy to be able to dress up for dinner, the inside was lovely and decorated holiday themed. My family was staying at the Gaylord for the Christmas Holiday and this steakhouse looked amazing. It did not disappoint. It is much larger than anticipated, and we were seated by our lovely waiter. I waited two weeks to write this review so I can't remember his name. But he and the other gentleman helping were amazing. He will know who he is, he wore a different name tag also loves the massive pepper grinder, always makes a joke of it. (best part of the night!) Any who, I was very impressed with the food. The appetizer portions are large as well as the sides, so keep that in mind. The fresh bread was unreal, I could eat 5 of them. The true star was the steak, and whipped potatoes. The medium rare steak was cooked to perfection, and I shared it as well as shared a few sides. It was more than enough food! I recommend a started, and then two maybe three sides for the table. Well, depending on how hungry you are. The price is what you would expect for a nice steak house, around $80-100 per person depending on if you get drinks. With crème fraiche and caviar, and good flakes, it's decadent, an indulgence, and one of those things you get once in your life. I liked it! Now the bad. The steak and service. It took about 45 minutes from the time I ordered to get the main course, and my first bison steak was well cooked and tough to eat. No pink at all. I haven't had a steak that overcooked since in at least ten years. With how restaurants cook steaks these days, it was a surprise. Now they did provide a second steak, which was to specification, but even that one took a while. The steakhouse was actually not that busy either so it was clearly understaffed. They start your table with their in-house baked rolls OH MY YUMMMY! we started with some nice cold drinks and then our entrees and sides. AMAZING MENU AND SERVICE! Koto was very attentive and made it a point to ensure service was to our liking. The steaks were cooked to order and delicious. Despite this being inside a resort, the food and service were great. Our server Scott was so nice and lively. He gave us some awesome recommendations and none of them disappointed. The whipped potatoes were so fluffy and buttery. The brussel sprouts had a delicious glaze to them and were perfectly cooked. The winner was definitely the lamb. Let me start with the good. The service was fantastic from the valet, to host / hostess to servers and wait staff. I think it is a very attractive place even if it's in a hotel. The bar is particularly nice . I thought th cocktails was good and the bread and salad wasn't bad. The entrees and sides were bad. I ordered an 8oz filet. I assumed it would be a layup , filets are like pizza even bad knees are good. Here is the exception. It was small, maybe 6oz, fatty, poor tasting , no sear and overcooked . The au poivre sauce was watery and tatsed poorly. The only saving grace is that it was on the side so I didn't have to taste it. Finally the creamed spinach was equally bad. Full leave spinach in some weird watery sauce with some light cheese on top. I don't know what it was but it wasn't creamed spinach and it wasn't good. Our server Koto was great. Very friendly and knew the menu very well. We started with a tomato salad, which was sort of just OK and very small. The $72 ribeye wasn't seasoned very well and very unevenly cooked. Parts were well done, parts were nearly raw. We got the "mile high roller" baked potato for $45. The caviar was clearly not top-quality. It tasted fishy. The rest of the potato was very good. Filets were decent and cooked nicely. For the money, I'd rather got to Guard and Grace in Denver for both a cheaper meal and much better steak. The decor is very nice, although it's much louder than I'd want at a fancy restaurant. The brûlée butternut squash was probably the best thing we had. Quite tasty. read more

It is not even close. First, it was lukewarm--not a great start. Second, their version of crème fraîche is more of a solid substance, than what Nashville serves. perhaps if the soup was hot, it would have loosened up. The broth itself didn't taste fresh. It had a really bitter, burned flavor. It's like they'd been using it for days. Maybe not, but it was bad. Finally, the lobster wasn't fresh and had a bitter, off flavor, like bad seafood. read more

We were there with a large party and the waiters were always available and answered all of our questions and made sure everyone's little requests were taken care of. We were a party of 20! With so many of us, there are a lot of requests and dietary requirements, or just preferences, but none of us felt like we were being ignored or not taken care of. The food was excellent. I had the Filet Mignon, which was cooked a perfect medium rare, the shrimp cocktail, with the biggest shrimp we had ever seen (lol) and chocolate cake for dessert. Our table got lobster mac and cheese, with giant pieces of lobster, and the roasted brussels sprouts were a hit too. The ambiance was beautiful! We had a table on their dining terrace, which you just can't beat with the gorgeous sunset in the background! We had a great experience. I was pleasantly surprised! We started with the Cheese tray. Four very devilish cheeses and some accompaniments. My friend ordered the octopus. I am not a huge fan of grilled octopus so I cannot report first hand. My friend seemed to really enjoy it. My filet was cooked to perfection and very tender. It was juicy and flavorful as well. The lobster bisque was delicious. Also very flavorful without the bite some bisques have. Our friends had the dry aged Porter House. Was a beast! What a great date night! My husband and I went mid April 2024. Yes it's under renovations. But as soon as you get into the restaurant space it's intimate and gorgeous! We had the Buffalo TarTar - yum and the house wedge salad (which was enough to share btwn the two of us). But the BEST was the Tomahawk Steak and the Old Fashions. This place is amazing. Was here for aagl, and we were fortunate enough to get a Friday reservation. It's at the back of the Gaylord hotel, kinda hidden down towards the left. You walk in and wow. Restaurant is well lit, beautiful, and set up great. Now, that being said this is an expensive place. Even for steakhouse standards. The 3 of us had apps, entrees and two sides (they had a bottle of wine) but it was still over 500 with tip. That's high for old Pablo. Now saying that, my steak was freaking amazing. So superbly cooked, seasoned, etc. Got the cowboy ribeye with truffle butter. Sides were creamed spinach which was meh, but their brussel sprouts were decedent. The best I have ever had. This was the most terrible Chilean sea bass of my life. The lobster Mac and cheese had no lobster and the spinach was good but adding the fried onions and truffle oil was both dated and unnecessary. The table bread tasted less than fresh. Servers were very nice but the food took a while. Chilean sea bass is one of my favorite items in the world. I have ordered it at some top rated and some basic local restaurants. I've never been disappointed until now. It was definitely the largest piece I've ever seen plated but it was so bad that I didn't really eat it. It was seared dry, which ruined all the flaky buttery qualities Chilean sea bass is known for. In fact my first thought was, is this just sea bass? The sauce was too thick and gave off a vibe of a poorly made sweet hollandaise. Basically this is likely how i would have ruined the sea bass if i cooked it, which is why I don't cook. Basically we paid $62 for someone to serve a ruined ingredient. The Mac and cheese was also a big disappointment. My husband orders this dish almost everywhere we go and it normally contains some level of lobster. I fished and fished for a small piece and gave up. I did see some tiny flakes but they were so small I couldn't catch or taste them. I was charged $1300 for a meal that was meant to be split between four couples. The kicker? Each of the other couples was also charged their full quarter share of the bill. That's four full payments for one dinner. Since then, my friends and I have each spent hours chasing this down with the restaurant. Multiple calls, emails, and no resolution. For a high-end establishment, this level of negligence and lack of accountability is completely unacceptable. Mistakes happen, but how you handle them is what sets you apart.
