I bring my employees here on occasion because it's local, good and they accept my AMEX. I tried a couple new menu items during my last visit. The new Gyro Chicken is an Awesome dish! I also tried the new pretzel with crab - yum! I like looking into the hole that was the lake and the ambience is good. I have never had a bad meal here. I have had to ask for different chips here to keep them in their toes but everything else has always been on point. I have probably been here 10 times and always know I will be back. My employee loved the new burger with Gouda and the toga sandwich is also good. The comment about salt is bs -it is a brewery - give me a break. Local and good and worth a visit. Everything was awesome. I hesitate to say that the fried green tomatoes were better than my moms. The shrimp and grits gave the Mrs. a whole new outlook on what shrimp and grits should be like. We only sampled some beers and had a flight or two, but we were impressed. Their service and beer selection is great and I love that they offer flights. I'd like to see something a little bit different than the laminated paper they use for the flight beer placement. The writing comes off too easily from the glasses (glass condensation) being on there. We will be back to sample the food and of course drink more beer! read more

I've been to the Old Mill many times in the past but this time I went for trivia night. A group of friends and I attended trivia night, which is on every Thursday night, and it started at 7pm. The parking lot is shared with many other businesses so you might have trouble finding a spot to park but we had no trouble getting a table for dinner. We weren't in a rush to order and the waitress didn't rush us because she knew we were there for trivia. I ended up ordering the Old Mill Burger. The burger was huge and it had onion rings, egg, and a few other things - needless to say it was yummy. Their fries are amazing too because they make them so crispy. Prices are normal - around the 8 to 12 dollar range for an entrée. Service was pretty awesome too over the 2 hours we stayed at the restaurant I'm pretty sure our waitress asked us if we needed anything probably about 15 times. The best part of the night was that our team won trivia and we ended up getting a $40 gift card to come back. Our team is interested in making this a Thursday tradition and coming back not only for the food but also the entertainment! read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this small town brewery. My hubby and I were on our way from Asheville to Myrtle Beach and stopped here so that I could feed my infant. The staff was incredibly friendly and the view from the outdoor patio was really beautiful next to a pond. The patio was pet friendly which was great because we had our pup. I'd highly recommend the coffee rubbed burger. I wouldn't have expected the food to be as tasty as it was but that burger really hit the spot and the beers we're a pleasant surprise as well! read more

In town for son's soccer tournament and happened by and decided to stop for lunch. I am so glad we did. The place has a cool vibe being in an old mill. Tried the crab pretzel (yes, you read that right) and it was great. We then had the brewpub burger and brisket sandwich, of which both were excellent. I went to this establishment last week to eat and while the staff was great, the food was lacking. I had the Nachos which were very stale and lacking any serious flavor. They have a good beer selection and that is about where the good ends. While dining at the bar I noticed several German Cockroaches walking up the wall near the old barrel by the bar entrance. I went to inspect further and I wish I had not. There was a lot of roaches and it really left a bad taste for this establishment. A roach infestation is a serious problem and should be addressed by the proprietor instead of management blaming it on the fact it's an old building. If you are going to drink only it may be okay. I would recommend you ask them for a freshly washed glass. The food is sub par and the presence on roaches makes eating here impossible read more

We've never been here before and decided to finally try it. Great food once they got our order correct. Service was very slow, had to wait for condiments, had to remind them we needed extra napkins and when we finally had our drinks refilled it was unsweet when we were drinking sweet tea. Finally got around to trying it. It was reasonably quiet, thank goodness, live music was in the other room. The Chicken Fingers were excellent, tender, well cooked, the fries were OK for 5 minutes, then got very soggy and "forgetable". The slaw as okay, but wouldn't go back for it, or order it again. Tea was good. Table service was very rushed, although wait staff did stop long enough to get what we needed. No longer. My wife and I went Saturday night to try this place out. We won't be returning. It was about 7:30 and the first thing that surprised me was how not busy the place was at the time. This is prime time for most restaurants. We were seated on the patio at a table less than two feet from the band, which soon began to set up by throwing things around in our proximity. We decided to seek another seat and waited patiently for a server or anyone to come to our table. After 7-8 minutes another couple came in and were seated at a table for two closer to the water that was empty when we came in. A waiter came by, served them drinks, took their order. Meanwhile, 15 minutes had passed and we were still waiting for our water and to place our order. No one but a surly musician banging equipment and saying nothing had come anywhere near our table. I asked my wife if she would like to try another nearby restaurant. Apparently, I had read our mind. With relief, we both got up and walked out. The hostess saw us go, but was completely indifferent, just as she was when she seated us. "Southern hospitality" is a phrase that clearly has no meaning here. They say you never get a second chance to make a first impression. This was our first and last visit. Any place that can't get a server to your table in 15 minutes! I'm writing this review for one reason, I want the owners to read it and make some changes to their food/ingredients. Decor and ambiance is great, very nice patio area as well as a great bar. The beer selection is great as well. Food: no effort put in to it. I had the Cuban. It was on a hoagie roll and WASN'T pressed, therefore not really a Cuban. They also cut up pickle wedges instead of sliced pickles..no effort. Someone else ordered nachos, canned chili that wasn't strained was used in conjunction with cheese sauce from Sams. They were extremely soupy and generic tasting, no effort. The third ordered a steak sandwich, it was on the same hoagie roll as my Cuban and it was a straight forward sandwich. Overall, I'll go back for beer and a appetizer maybe. It's a cool looking place that'd be nice to drink at. They put little to no effort in to the food which is a shame because it's such a cool place. The food was glorified concession stand food made from the same ingredients... It took us an hour to get our food too, people that arrived after us got theirs before us. They clearly don't care about the food as much as they should.. read more

While the craft beer choices are excellent. Over the past few months we have repeatedly experienced the availability of the selections offered has dwindled. We had to go through five different choices with the waitress last night before we found one they actually had in stock. Also, the food has continued to diminish in quality as well. I don't usually complain, my food was not edible. My husband's basic hamburger was tasteless and over cooked. Another person at our table ordered the pork chop which was supposed to come out with rice and fried green tomatoes. She got a pork chop on a small plate that wasn't cooked through. The rice came out ten minutes later in a cup and the fried green tomatoes finally made it out cold. The coleslaw tasted like the cabbage had not been washed. The fries were barely warm and unseasoned and obviously frozen. Don't get the shrimp or fish. What is good is the beer when they actually have it and the buffalo chicken dip. Otherwise, don't waste your money. For the experience old mill used to give we have found Liberty Tap Room to be a far better experience. It's unfortunate because we love supporting local Lexington businesses. It's my hope that the management of Old Mill will step up thier game to what it was 2 yrs ago. We had heard only great reviews from friends about this place. We decided to try it on a Friday night, expecting it to be busy. However, the whole evening was terrible. The hostess was very friendly and told us when we arrived around 7:15 there would be a 30 minute wait, totally understandable for a Friday night. We grabbed some beers at the bar and waited...and waited...and waited. Upon a trip to the restroom I discovered that the restaurant was not even half full, and yet we were still waiting for 40 minutes. One of the people in our party of 4 works nights, and had to leave for work after dinner. Normally, this is not an issue when we go out because we leave early enough that dinner shouldn't take over 3 hours. We cut it really close to get him back in time after dinner it took so incredibly long. We sat on the porch, it was a really nice evening and we were looking forward to good food. Our waitress came and was overall really friendly. However, she needs some training if this place is going to want better reviews. We ordered appetizers and beers, one of which she didn't know and couldn't write down because we pronounced it correctly in German and not phonetically in English. Really if you're going to be a Brewpub your staff needs to be familiar with your beer selection. Appetizers were decent, we ordered the cheese fries and mussels. Then she came to take our order and stopped half way through because she realized our beers were waiting and left to get them and came back and sat them down to resume taking the order. It all seemed just frazzled and unorganized. She brought us the beer bottles, but we had to ask three times for glasses to pour the beers into. All the while it is almost 9:15 at night and we still don't have our meals. For a restaurant that isn't even half full, this is a little ridiculous. Our friends had gone the previous evening and received their food very quickly and raved about the quality. Finally around 9:30 the food arrives. She brought out 3 meals but not the fourth because it wasn't ready. The rest of us were not going to eat if someone else didn't have food so we all waited another 10 minutes for his food to arrive which by that time the rest of us had cold food. The She Crab Soup was really good. The Po Boy was sub par, and I had more fish cracklings then shrimp. The side of mac and cheese looks like it came out of a blue Kraft box. The fries are good, and our friends liked the spicy gumbo. None of it worth the price it costs. Overall, we were left with a really bad experience which is unfortunate because we were really rooting for this place. Lexington needs a place of this nature for sure. The Brewpub though definitely need to put some effort behind the food and train their staff better. Maybe the issue is management, we really weren't sure. We will maybe give this place one last shot once they get the brew side up and running, but until then I would rather drive into Columbia. read more
