This place is a gem. I dropped I with my puppy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It is very pet friendly as well indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the sausage quiche with a salad and blackberry lemonade. Everything was really good. The portion size was great for one person. The lemonade had a nice tart and sweetness to it. Very refreshing indeed. Old mill does have a crowd in the mornings/mid-day but the line moves fast so that is a great thing. I will definitely be returning to taste more bake goods for sure. Local and Delicious! The Old Mill Cafe can be found in Old Ellicott City near the trolley station. Stop by and enjoy breakfast or a yummy pastry; it'll leave you wanting more. Customer service is great, they have their private parking and a variety of options. ORDER: Turkey & Cheddar Sandwich - I opted to the Turkey & Cheddar that was accompanied with bacon, lettuce, tomato and mustard; on toasted white bread. It was yummy and fulfilling. Freshly made and made to go which I savored in the comfort of my home. Maple Bar - This perfectly made pastry was the best. It wasn't too sweet and nicely coated with maple icing and nuts. My complaints are few. This place was great. Kids loved the crepes. Bacon was delicious and cheap! Parking sucks when they're busy. Always sunny sandwich was a surprise how good it was. I don't know why it has taken me so long to try the Old Mill Cafe, given that I live less than 5 miles away. This morning, as we drove through Old Ellicott City (OEC) we decided to stop in. We older two breakfast sandwiches, a cinnamon twist and iced coffee. The cafe is really quaint and reminds me of spots we normally stop at while traveling. Pre-COVID-19, the Cafe looks like it had seating throughout including a neat little kids area and a small OEC gift shop. Post-COVID-19, they have taken advantage of outdoor seating in their courtyard and out front. The food was excellent. The Breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel was delicious. The Always Sunny Sandwich was worth returning for again and again and again! We surprised and delighted to be served by Maddie K who was very happy and surprised to see us. This a really nice place to take that much needed morning or weekend moment to enjoy life. read more

My lazy Sunday Yelp search for beignets brought me here. Quint little restaurant in the heart of Ellicott City. It was about 1:30pm but I was craving breakfast. Ordered a sausage, egg and cheese on a croissant; and two beignets. Sandwich was excellent (not greasy) , and also tasty. The beignets could be better though. They were chocolate filled, but the chocolate inside was a bit frozen. Otherwise, good experience and I shall return in the future. read more

Love love loveeeeeeeeeeee this quaint spot. The pastries are excellent, the employees are so kind, and the drinks hit the spot. Can anyone say no to freshly squeezed orange juice in the morning? Must tries: coffee cake, pop tarts. Breakfast sandwiches were yummy, even if they were just a tad overpriced. A perfectly homey and inviting coffee shop in old Elicott city. We walked in late afternoon on a Sunday to do some work, and we figured this place fit all our criteria. I got a mushroom and leek quiche and a couple of coffees. Now I mistakenly added a bit of salt to my coffee instead of sugar (it was right next to the cinnamon powder) so I kinda wish they would label the condiment shakers, but other than that both items were great. The staff were friendly and brought our food to our tables. There is also a library of books to sit and read, though I imagine the selections could be a bit better/modern (but I guess this is all books people have lent or donated over the years). I tried this place recently for breakfast on a Sunday morning and really enjoyed it. The seating is very limited so it's difficult to snag a table on busy weekend mornings but they had a good selection of food and drink, it was tasty, service was fairly quick and the location is top notch-perfect for a nice walk after you've stuffed your face. I also found the prices to be quite reasonable for the area and for what was served. The staff could have been friendlier-they were definitely busy but being polite and courteous would be standard. I will definitely return, perhaps during a more quiet time of day, I'd love to look around at the little knick knacks they had for sale. read more

I got the avocado toast and coffee cake from Old Mill Cafe which were really good! There were plenty of fresh avocado slices and halved cherry tomatoes with olive oil and parsley sprinkled on top. The orange slice on the side was an interesting addition, but it added an appreciate pop of color to the plate! The coffee cake was also amazing and very tasty! My only critique was that the bread could have been toasted more, but otherwise, I had a great time at Old Mill Cafe! read more

It's small cafe in Ellicott city. It was super busy and we had to stand in line for 20 min to place our order. The staff were friendly and polite. I got cappuccino which was good. I also got the mixed berries crepe. The crepe was super soft and had a great flavor. My friends pastry was not that great. But overall a good place. There is limited parking which gets full. Visited here for the first time today. It's a cute cafe with some indoor seating and also outdoor seating. There is free parking available on site. I ordered the caprese sandwich and it was delicious. To my surprise there were all sorts of delicious looking baked goods available. I ended up purchasing a bunch to try at home. Already cheerful service and great food. There are many places in town to grab lunch, but I find myself returning here whenever the need hits. My favorites are the Ham & Swiss and the Turkey & Cheddar, but I have yet to get anything I didn't like. While the naked goods/Sweets are high calorie, it's hard to resist getting one every now and then because they're SO GOOD and the price is very reasonable compared to other places across the river. read more

Well, why not go to historical EC instead & find a good local joint. This place is right on the river, an easy walk to the shops. We grabbed a couple of coffees & a gluten free pumpkin cookie. I went early in the morning, which is good to do if you want seating before the rush. They have every kind of milk which is necessary but not common in all cafes. I got an oat milk cappuccino and was warned it may not froth as much as I wanted. I was so grateful for that heads-up, but it frothed perfectly. I also got a lox bagel, and it was super filling. Service was quick and easy. They have 4 top tables and window seating, whatever the I will say I think the place is used to regulars way more than newcomers because I did feel that my unsureness annoyed them a bit just because the menu was straightforward, but other than that, I highly recommend it. read more

This is a nice, cozy spot to get breakfast or a quick bite. The inside is a bit larger than I thought, and it was very inviting. The employees are very nice. They offer a modest variety of hot items (breakfast sandwiches, crepes) and have several baked goods (muffins, scones, cinnamon rolls), and have coffees and teas. I've only tasted a couple items, so i don't want to judge too much on that yet, but I thought it was a pretty good. There is an outside seating area that is nicely kept. Parking can be a little tough as their lot is pretty small. However, there is parking around the corner up near the Trolley Stop, which is a short walk away . read more

I have patronized this business on at least 5 different occasions in the past year. I normally purchase a breakfast sandwich and a latte or cappuccino and both have always been delicious. On each visit I have left a dollar in the tip jar, which was dumb because no matter who serves me or rings me up, I never feel welcomed. Never a smile or kind word which is why I will NEVER walk through the doors of the Old Mill Cafe again. On today's visit the women on the register barley looked at me and had a bit of an attitude. She was cold and abrupt. I cannot say that I receive attitude each time Because I am a black women but I feel in my gut that this may be the case. I'm a happy yogi-type of human who thrives on being nice and generous. If at least one person or on one occasion I was greeted with a smile, or felt welcomed, I may think differently but the food isn't good enough for me to overlook the poor treatment. Stopped by the Old Mill Cafe to grab some coffee & pastries with my mom while I was home. The service was lovely, everyone was super friendly. The inside cafe was very comfy & warm vibe, and there was cute outdoor patio seating too. There was a wide selection of yummy pastries available. We got apple pop tarts and cinnamon streusel muffins. Both great. My latte was a bit on the watery side, but the amazing pastries made up for it for sure. I think the food/pastries is definitely the specialty here. read more

I biked the Trolley Number Nine trail. This was short and tough for beginners. I parked near the Oella end and rode around to westchester to begin the trail. That was my first mistake lol. That hill was HUGE before we even started the trail. We biked some of the hill but ultimately ended up walking it (thankfully because cars came around the sharp corner kind of fast). Once we got to the start of the trail, I was quickly beat! I figured the huge hill at westchester took me out plus it was so warm outside. I took several breaks on this short trail. I couldn't figure out why I was so tired so quickly. The trail was paved and it had tons of shade. I almost turned around and thought maybe I over did it this time. I ended up pushing myself to make it to the end. It wasn't until the end of the trail that I realized I was biking UPHILL the entire time! It finally clicked. The hard work to get to the top of this short but challenging trail ended in sweet reward as we coasted downhill the entire way back. The thrill of downhill was so exhilarating. The hard work uphill paid off . Once we got back to the start, we walked over to Old Mill Cafe and grabbed some iced chai lattes and a breakfast sandwich. I loved the breakfast bagel (I got a simple egg & cheese bagel). It was so delicious! The latte was just ok. It lacked the flavor I was expecting. read more

However I tried the lox bagel and admittedly it has been such a long time ago I've had my first lox bagel that I wasn't sure what to compare it to, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the lox. Finished it anyway! Considered giving a four star BUT... Inside of the place also has a small little artist shop corner. It is adorable! Love admiring them while I wait. Oh! Also they take cashapp! I went here for breakfast and I was not disappointed. The shop is very quirky in a good way I have a great bookcase and I started to read one of the books they had available there. The food came out quite quickly and it was a huge creep (I was very happy with that). I definitely will visit this place again. It's a nice place to sit down and read and enjoy yourself. read more

Great little cafe in downtown Ellicott City that my wife and I go to sometimes. Right now with everything shutdown, they are providing awesome basic household cooking needs that are out of stock in grocery stores right now. They have baking needs like flour, yeast, and bread to go at a very inexpensive price. I think $2 for 2 cups of yeast. Their sandwiches and sweet items are also great. Would recommend supporting a small business like this in these times! read more
