Best tasting bbq I've ever had! Love the fatty brisket! It's actually the first time I've ever liked brisket! The smoked chicken is the best!

This place is amazing I recommend 100%. The food We had the southern sampler, it was delicious and the customer service is outstanding. They have a great variety of sauces. Their sides were mouth watering. I'm in love with their Toasted Almond Cranberry Slaw, it is to die for.

Rib tips. They came with this sauce already on them so I would taste test the sauces to be sure which one you like

Hopped the boarder and visited Old Southern on a Saturday afternoon. We initially had another Hudson smokehouse on our radar but it was unexpectedly closed. Thank goodness it was because Old Southern was fantastic! We ordered a half pound of brisket, half pound of pulled pork and a half pound of the rib tips with a side of tangy coleslaw, quick pickles and a cornbread muffin top. Everything was top notch. We loved everything we had. They offer 5 different sauces all tend to be on the sweeter side and only one departs from the standard tomato base with only a hint of vinegar. If I had to knit pick something it was the sauces weren't my favorite but the meats and sides stood by themselves. Counter service was quick and easy and the staff were super friendly. Hoping the fact we stopped in during lunch on the weekend of pepper fest was the reason it was so empty because this place is a gem. Will definitely be back again.

I'm bumping these guys up a level - 4 stars. This is the second time I've been to Old Southern. The first time was during the Pandemic so I had to order takeout, there was no indoor seating. LOW CARB: It was easy to eat carnivore style at Old Southern. You can order various meats by the pound and you aren't forced to buy plant based sides. I ordered 2 big Texas Hot Links and 1 pound of Beef Brisket. My buddy got the Southern Sampler with 5 kinds of meat. The service was great and the food was very good. Thumbs up. -Maxx

We were in the mood for barbecue but felt like trying something new. Did a Yelp search for nearby restaurants and this one popped up, so we decided to give it a try. The atmosphere is fun and cozy, with plenty of seating. We decided to try the 2-Meat Platter both with the BBQ Ribs and Brisket, one with mashed potatoes and the other with macaroni and cheese. Both meats were really good, and I like that they have several different sauce options on the table(s). The mashed potatoes and cornbread muffin tops were excellent, but the macaroni and cheese was dry with not much flavor. We plan to go back and try some of their other menu items.

Giving it a two Fun looking place, it is all to go and delivery now tho. Got the barbecue for two. I SHOULD HAVE gotten the brisket. Sausage tasted of artificial casing, and oddly seasoned. The chicken the thigh was a little bloody, and the ribs? Cooked, just... meaning, another hour and maybe more of the fat would have cooked off. The seasonings, again, not like anything I've ever eaten (Air Force, spent years across the south, TX to SC and MS and LA as well) in my life. The sauces also were disappointing. The five chili hot, was only hot. No flavor, like you would have with a jerk or piri-piri. And the Chicago sweet, may as well have been cattleman's. Put in a couple pix. Oh, Jimmie beans, nowhere near cooked long enough. Actually just this side of mealy nearly crunchy. At least this means they start from scratch. Eh, I'm assuming Saturday night they were slammed and just pounding it out. Too bad. Would go back for brisket, it looked good. Of course, so did mine. Flavor, guih... Oh and the muffin tops, suitable for young children's parties. Good lord loaded with syrup or sugar, sickening sweet and mealy, could even hold together. Not how corn bread should be, even if you do fancy yourself a chef. Or a corporate kitchen manufacturing a product.

Sooo good - 5 stars!…read more I've wanted to check this place out for a few years. But unfortunately, I don't live close-by and the hours & days of operation are limited. But I finally made it. Three of us checked them out for a Friday lunch. It was definitely worth the trip to meet my Wisconsin buddies for some rockin' Q. This is a casual, order-up-front kind of place. Grab your beverage, pick your own spot, and they bring the food to your table. The meats are excellent. I grabbed a half pound of smoked sausage, a half pound of pastrami, and a half pound of beef brisket. My friends both ordered pork ribs. Everything was wonderful! Being a zero carb dude, I really appreciate that you can order meat by the pound (and the half pound). Thankfully, they don't force you to order plant based items. As zero carbohydrate carnivore eater, I didn't order any plant based sides whatsoever. But my friends got broccoli slaw and waffle corn bread (very clever) as sides. They loved their sides. Both of them topped things off with big Texas Brownies and a la mode French Vanilla Ice Cream. The brownies were giant and flavorful. They actually made the whole back dining area smell like chocolate. Finally, the service was excellent. The food came out fast & hot. And the owner popped out of the kitchen a few times to check on us and to chat. Nice guy. They have live music. But we came early and missed all of that...so I can't comment on the music scene. All-in-all, a great place, especially if you're a carnivore. Thumbs up! -Maxx

I chose the grilled shrimp for my entree. The shrimp were not shrimps, they were huge. I chose garlic mashed potatoes for my side (there were many options) and it came with asparagus as the veggie. It was delicious. Service was excellent. Street parking was easy. We parked directly in front of the entry. Cool spot. Love to see old buildings get repurposed.

I'll start with the positives - the ambiance is excellent and they have a great patio. Our server Simone was friendly and witty and really made our table feel welcomed. What could be better was the quality of some of the food in addition to the amount of time we waited for our food to arrive. After our orders were placed, it took about an hour to receive our food, and the table definitely didn't eat together. Even the appetizers took about 40 minutes to arrive at the table. I thought for what you get, it was insanely pricey. I have never paid close to $20 for a wing appetizer to get an odd number of 5 wings. That's insane. My friend and I planned on splitting that and the patty melt. We are huge patty melt lovers, but this one was bland and nothing good to report. The table did enjoy the shrimp dish. I will admit the bruschetta was darn good, but I wish there was more positives to report with the food. We all stated that we wouldn't pick this place again, but if someone wanted to eat here and suggested it, we would come back, but we would all want to try different things (minus the bruschetta and shrimp dish).

Hello my Yelp friends. First we went here today as a party of four. The waitress was pretty good,…read morefriendly and very prompt. Drinks came out fast. Cheese curds were really good and prompt. We proceeded to order our food and that's where the trouble began. We ordered two pepper jack bacon turkey sandwiches, a chicken sandwich and a burger. After a while the waitress came out and told us that the chicken sandwich and burger were ready but the kitchen just told her no turkey. Okay fine we ordered two other things and she brought out fries while we wait. The remaining food came out eventually. Food was good not great. Time for the bill. I ordered a 22oz Round Man American Lager. Listed on the menu and the website as $9.00. The bill came and they charge me for a 12 oz plus two size upgrades. The total cost? $13 dollars. I asked her about it and she said that because I got two upgrades. Consulted the menu again and saw that the cost for 22 oz was $9.00 to which she said the menu was wrong. Consulted the website since as we all know sometimes the printed menu can be wrong. Guess what it also states that a 22 oz cost $9.00. So after a bit of back and forth she finally agreed that the beer should be $9.00. The bill was corrected. 22Jun update: the manager Pete reached out and assured me that the menu has been updated to reflect the correct pricing. I was able to verify this on the online version. While my initial experience was not the best, him reaching out and fixing my primary concern was ethical and respectable. I encourage everyone regards of where you go to check your bill before paying.
