We have been we've been wanting to try, Old Suzan's Cafe for sometime. I took my family there on Sunday morning. They were quite busy as to be expected. The service was excellent I never had to wait real quick for our server for a refill on my coffee. They were always right there. I tried the eggs Benedict with crabcakes, which is quite tasty. I would recommend it or you can even get the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. There is like four kinds of breakfast potatoes my daughter had a breakfast burrito and said it was delicious. My grandson had a breakfast sandwich with bacon eggs, and tomatoes with cheese. It also was delicious. It's definitely worth the wait and we look forward to come back soon. The food is excellent. Today my friend and I dined for breakfast at Old Susana Cafe after an early morning hike. Our waitress was Wendy. Omg, she was so amazing and sweet. Wendy went out of her way to make us feel at home. The old San Susanna Café is tucked away just below the Santa Susana mountains at the end of crooner. I have been going there for years, savoring the wonderful food that they serve believe it or not. I think they have one of the best hamburgers in town. read more

Nice, cozy outdoor patio with an extensive breakfast/brunch/lunch menu and friendly service! Friends and I stopped by after a 6-mile hike nearby. We were tired and hungry, but got lucky to get a large table out in the patio as soon as we walked in. We ordered a bit of everything brunch; chicken and waffles, pancakes, omelets, biscuits and gravy, you name it. I got the Valley Omelet which included avocados, bacon, mushrooms and Swiss cheese. Got it with a side of fruit, but you can opt for hash browns or home fries with a side of bread of choice. My omelet was delicious and large, and other friends' meals looked great as well. We decided to try it one Saturday after sports, the outdoors ambiance is nice specially because it's quiet and close to the mountains, gives it a nice old town cafe feel, we were greeted immediately and they brought our drinks pretty quickly. Met some family at this place and part of the reason we chose it was that it was a local business that had an outdoor patio for our dogs to join us. The parking lot surrounds the restaurant and it is really easy to find. The patio is very comfortable and has a lot of fans to circulate the air to keep you cool. There is a lot on the menu and they serve breakfast all day, which is a plus for me as I don't get to eat breakfast types of meals very often. I ordered the Wagon Wheel mostly because it has 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 strips bacon and 2 sausages. Can't go wrong with that combo. My wife ordered the BLT, which I heard is very popular here. The server was also very cheerful and efficient. The others in our party ordered the tuna fish on white bread and a Western omelet. All orders came out in about 10 minutes and ours was very good. We were even entertained by a crow that landed on a nearby table. It grabbed a jelly packet and pecked at the foil cover until in got in to eat the contents. I have been going there for many years. But lately they have been ripping off the customer. I Ordered the two eggs and four pieces of bacon breakfast. They charged me extra for the beacon, which was suppose to be included, and only brought three pieces of beacon instead of four. I called them out on it, and the server said she would check it out, but never returned. $40 bucks for two eggs and not so great potatoes, and my wife had an omelet with some not so great fruit. Great place to go if you want to sit in the dining room and look at the historic photos. Someone told me they have food too, but we never got served, so we left. My friend and I went there at about 11am on 11/5. We walked in and there was a table of 3 guys waiting to order and a table of 2 guys who were finishing their food. I love this old Simi institution. SSC is a staple here in Simi Valley. When I was younger my friends and I would wake up hungover from going out clubbing the night before and head to SSC for a traditional diner brekkie. Came here for the first time for breakfast this morning. My Dad comes here weekly. Got here about 9:30 already pretty busy outside. Server very was quick and efficient. Nice shaded area outside, but lots of flies. I had the valley omelette, it was huge but very bland. Hash browns abs sourdough toast were good. Dad had corned beef hash and poached eggs, he loves it! This cafe is a staple in our neighborhood. The food and workers never disappoint. I can say you will not walk about hungry, the portions are generous. I recommend the Tuna Sandwich or Tuna Melt for lunch. Their mimosas are also a treat with the perfect amount of OJ. Had this little quaint cafe on my Simi Valley list for quite sometime now (since we moved here from Long Beach almost two years ago). I think I compare almost every breakfast joint to every AMAZING place in Long Beach and even the mediocre places. The place is dripping with history and I do like that. There are vintage pictures of Simi Valley with captions that tell about the settlers in the town many years ago. The dining area boasts a hutch complete with ceramic rooster similar to what perhaps my grandmother had in her own kitchen... very kitsch. The little ones got grilled cheese sandwiches and the big kid a French dip. The fries were actually super good, crispy and flavored with "what did I overhear from the kitchen?" Lawry's Season salt...? Yum yum yum... trying to keep Keto, so just had a bite to taste. The French dip steak was tender and au jus a little bland, but my son devoured it. Sometimes I feel like teenage boys don't get to say what they like or don't like as they are prone to never taste their food anyways (just bite and swallow) LOL! It's funny, because I barely remembered what I ordered. Oh yeah, the Tri-tip omelette. Complete with onions and peppers, the egg was overdone, there was too much cheese for my taste (and I LOOOOOVE cheese) and the meat was barely noticeable. Also the omelette lacked ANY flavor whatsoever. I was starving, but I didn't finish. I saw someone order the Mexican breakfast and it looked pretty amazing... Really awesome wait staff and bussers. They are great about getting your drinks right away. We went on a Sunday morning and it was packed. We were seated immediately but we're told 30 minutes to get our order because of backup. Which was fine. It ended up being 1 hour to get our food. Quality of food is great. Quantity of food is large. I had the Eggs Benedict and my son ordered the Wagon Wheel. Downside to sitting outside, against the parking lot wall, is people smoking both cigarettes and pot with smoke and ashes coming over the wall. The waitress offered me a new plate, due to the ashes. I would be grateful if the owners would post signs on the wall, next to where there's seating, so there's no smoking. It really ruins your meal! It hurts my heart to have to write this review, only because I know the family story behind the restaurant. However, this place is actually awful. As soon as you walk in, your welcomed by a "smokers home" stench. It's absolutely filthy. I was terrified to use the restrooms- surprisingly very clean and cute. The food was less than mediocre, my side salad was awful, I tried my best to take a couple of bites, but each vegetable got soggier and soggier. The worst part- I requested my toast to have no butter (they tend to go super heavy with the butter) so they brought me my toast drenched in butter, no big deal. Requested it be replaced. This took 10 min after being served my meal- at this point I'm almost done- they apologize and bring me the same toast (with butter) with a sad attempt of whipping the butter off. Instead of just replacing the toast to begin with. The service is bad, the cleanliness is poor, and the ambiance is terrible. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Went for a late Breakfast, Staff Friendly but Cook has to GO! I had 2 eggs over medium, bacon, hash browns and toasted rye bread. My Husband had a patty melt, fries and coleslaw. After over an hours wait the food arrived. My Husbands patty melt had no flavor, and his grilled onions were raw, the rest of his food was ok.
