First I have to say we almost didn't go here for lunch after reading the mixed reviews. Also I couldn't fine any good photos of the seating arrangement. So we went and we loved it. And in my photos you can see all the seating options they have. Our server Tania was very sweet and also very helpful. Both my sandwich and my husband's were amazing as you will see in the photos I took. My husband is an onion ring expert and he and I both agreed the onion rings he ordered were very good. The smoke on the meat was outstanding. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We are both golfers and it was very nice to see the golf course beside us with the golfers going by. So, actually this place should have received a 5-star rating from me, but one very concerning thing happened that knocked it down, at least in my mind. First, the place on last Friday night was fun and electric. There was standing room only, the band was good, people were dancing. We barely got an inside table, but once seated near a window we were very comfortable. The waiter was professional and mostly attentive; although it seems like they are short-staffed and it does cause for some delays. I ordered the Tri-Tip Sandwich and my Partner ordered the Brisket Roll. We shared an order of their perfectly prepped fries. Both dishes were delicious and their ample sizes and fantastic bbq sauce earned them high ratings, from a value/cost ratio. So, now the reason for the one star reduction. We were planning to try the place a week earlier, on a Sunday evening, as we were hosting out of town guests. We live on the golf course, so it is a pleasant 20-minute walk. We had called earlier to check if we needed a reservation, they said no and then told us that they do not close until 9:00 PM. So, we walk over and timed our arrival for 7:30. When we arrive a waiter comes over to inform us that due to it being a slow night they shut down the entire kitchen, early. Besides us four we saw two other couples get turned away, at nearly the same time. For us, it meant a 20 minute walk back to the house before we could start to find a decent open alternative, which on a Sunday evening in Simi can be a real challenge. A decent restaurant should not fluctuate its hours just because they might have a slower than average night! The following Friday they were busting at the seams, so they need to take the good with the bad and at the very least, be dependable. That is, if they want a loyal following. Perhaps this is a one off, then if so I will happily bump this place to a 5-star. But until then we will be calling the place, as we head over, each time, just to make sure they will be honoring their advertised hours of business. read more

The place was great and then turned into a joke. The owner / management has a personality of a gnat. Go take out the garbage and leave the concierge for a professional. Pushes mediocre food they try to pass as BBQ. I'd bet the owner has never been a a real BBq joint to even compare. Way, way overpriced for gristle riddled entrées. The meat quality is far substandard! They completely ruined the vibe of what was great. Cocktails are double the price from once was, and watered down. I can't believe we didn't know of this bbq! Wow, so delicious. Our server was Nicole and she is absolutely wonderful. Very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. We both ordered the tri tip sandwiches. I had mine Southern style (with coleslaw) and a side of shoestring fries. My son had his with a side of baked beans. The meat was so tender, thick slices, and no fat. The tangy coleslaw on top was so good. They have 3 different bbq sauces from mild to spicy, to choose from. Nicole let us know that Wednesday nights they have line dancing lessons and weekends they have bands. We'll definitely be back soon! read more

It's good! This has become our Friday night dinner spot to listen to music and sit outside or inside, and relax after the long week. The food is delicious, it takes a while to get your food on Friday and Saturdays, but they are busy and hustling! My only complaint and it's starting to make me not want to eat there, is the fly situation. Whether you are inside or outside, the flies are terrible. It makes you want to not even order food since you are fighting them to stay off your food. Maybe more fans inside and out? Outside only has a panel on one side of fans. Service is good, they all are really kind and sweet and very attentive. Fix the flies and you have a customer for life! read more

Drinks Only- Located at the Simi Vally Golf Course, a public golf course, you will find a small restaurant/bar by the putting green. This is a very causal bar/restaurant that has recently been upgraded with a more extensive menu featuring bbq. The bbq smells good, but we have not tried the food at this location. They do offer waiter/waitress service inside and outside. We just come to relax with some drinks- the drinks are not fancy- the drink offerings include beer, wine and mix drinks. I like to come for my John Daly- seems like the perfect drink to have at a golf course. You can have a single or a double for under ten dollars. As for the vibe- the bar has a small indoor space and a large patio. The indoor space is tight and tends to be loud with golfers boasting over their performance or lack of it on the course. The outdoor area is more spacious- consist of plastic outdoor chairs, so nothing fancy, but provide views of the golf course and the mountains. Much better view outside than inside where you look at the small bar or the walls. Plenty of parking outside of the bar in the lot. read more

We went to Grill on the Green a couple of weeks ago to catch a friend's band and arrived early so we could try the food. We'd heard the new team in charge was serving some great barbecue, and we weren't disappointed! I ordered the short rib sandwich (I can never resist good short rib), and it was fantastic--amazingly juicy and full of flavor. My husband had the mushroom burger, cooked perfectly to his requested medium rare, and he loved it. We shared an order of fries, fried just right--not too crispy, just the way he likes them. While we ate, we noticed a few of the salads being delivered to a nearby table, and they looked just as tempting. I already know what I'll be ordering next time we're there! One small suggestion -- the garlic aioli on the short rib sandwich was lovely, but a lighter hand with it might let the short rib itself shine even more. Was at the grill Saturday 6/13/26, walked in, sat down and was attended to pretty quickly. We asked some questions as this was our first time, put our order in and that's when things started going down hill. Our waiter was on the phone almost the entire time we were there. Another waiter picked up our food to deliver and then put it back down and walked away. We both ordered the street tacos and when they arrived they were luke warm but we decided to eat them anyways. We got the trio of pulled pork, pulled chicken and brisket. Our favorite was the chicken it was very flavorful and tender, then the pork and brisket. The brisket was bland and kind of mushy and dry at the same time. After the food arrived none of the waiters came to ask us if we were ok or needed anything and the place was not busy. We finished our food and the bus boy Isiah came to clean our table and he offered to wipe it off as well. He also asked if we were ok and if we needed anything else which my friend ordered a John Daly (ice tea, lemonade and vodka) and he got it for her right away. The drink was tasteless, took it up to the bar tender explained the issue, she made another one using a different vodka and it was just as bad. We sat for a few minutes and one of the waiters yells across the room to the bartender to check us out we were done in which we responded no we weren't. After that not another soul approached us but Isiah, and we sat for 20-30 minutes and nothing. My friend didn't drink the second drink and the bartender noticed it was sitting but never bothered to come over to see if everything was OK, she even tended to the table next to us and never said a word. Isiah was very attentive to us and was always coming by making sure we were ok. Too bad they don't have more employees like Isiah, he was kind, polite, very attentive to all the customers and he deserves to be recognized. He would make a great waiter, at least he cares about the customers. As we were trying to get someone's attention to get our check our original waiter finally came over apologizing as he was on the phone taking care of something for the owner/manager who wasn't there. They definitely need to address their staff on customer service, if that improved I would definitely give this restaurant a better rating. read more

We go to Grill on the Green fairly regularly on Saturdays to have dinner and hear our favorite band. Servers are always very friendly and helpful. I had an unpleasant experience a few months ago, which is unusual, and it is still on my mind. Our food was delayed and I went inside to check since the servers were busy. Our food was on the counter. I pointed it out to someone later identified as Marco, one of the owners. I was not rude in any way. Marco became very angry and raised his voice, and told me twice to let them do their job. His demeaner was shocking and I was very upset. I can't remember the last time someone spoke to me in that manner. He did not give me our food, and a server brought it later. The server was very apologetic about the experience. It's too bad that one person, in particular an owner, can ruin an experience that is usually so great. read more

Best barbecue around I started of with the Brisket Quesadilla Roll wow awesome. I had the mushroom burger best mushroom burger I've ever had. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich. Off the charts. EMILY was our server. She did a fantastic job. This restaurant is going through city permits to expand their menu and their kitchen so it is a temporary menu that they are serving.
