We were in Camarillo and needed to find a breakfast spot and came across old town. This place is super cute small breakfast spot with a pretty standard breakfast menu with lots of choices to choose from. The service was good and very friendly. I highly recommend the Baja Benedict, it was very flavorful and I loved the chipotle hollaindaise and the chorizo was good and not too spicy. I got a side of breakfast potatoes which I thought were a bit bland with not a lot of flavorful as I like my breakfast potatoes a bit more roasted. My boyfriend got the Latin lover scramble with a side of hash brown. The scramble was pretty decent scramble with good flavor. The portion for his scramble was a lot smaller and wished it was a bit bigger. Overall recommend this place for good breakfast and get the Baja Benedict!! read more

After a few hours shopping at the outlets. We had to grab a bite to eat. By mistake we came across this cute town while going to the outlets. So we definitely had to go back and eat there. Glad we choose old town cafe because my egg's Benedict was delicious I got it with bacon instead of the regular ham. And I must say I liked it a lot better with avocado. Got the hash brown patties on the side and it ok something I probably won't get again. It was a bit to dry and you can taste the oil. My husband got the breakfast burrito which he enjoyed as well. We are new to Camarillo! We eat out a ton, so we are always looking for new places . We came here on a busy Sunday morning ( 2/25 at around 10:40 am) This cute downtown breakfast spot was really good! Food was really good, waitress so stupendous... there was a young man there that was really personable and was working his tail off!! Not sure if he was the manager or owner but his attention alone would make me come back to this restaurant. We had the Avocado toast ( exceptional ) and a yummy scramble! Food was hot and served promptly. I am deducting a star be the hostess was rude! Young gal, treated us like an inconvenience! Been a couple of years since I've tried this place and it has consistently high marks, so even after two subpar experiences, I gave it one more shot. I was disappointed. The sweet potato fries looked like they had been fried a bit too long, but the consistency was rubbery. They still had a faint sweet potato taste, but nothing worth the extra money to order these. The tuna melt: sourdough bread was stale. Not like toasted crispy (it was toasted) but stiff to the point it felt like fake bread. You know the frozen celery and carrot mix you can get at the store? That was the primary ingredient in my tuna melt. I've never had carrots in my tuna and I wouldn't like them ever again. They, like the bread, were hard, almost the consistency of a raw carrot. There was nothing else in the dish that had a notable taste: not the cheese, tuna, or avacado. Just a mush around carrots. I wish so much my three experiences here matched the experiences of everyone else's. read more

I've ordered from here 3 times since my last review. This place has become my go to spot for breakfast. The serving sizes are perfect and I love that it's a small spot. It can definitely get tight when it's busy, but on slow days it's a nice cozy place for breakfast. Food comes out quick and service is always wonderful. I've seen the manager hustle and wait the entire cafe by himself at one point and he was doing phenomenal. Today I had Michael as my server and he was so kind. Although he did charge me for a coffee a never ordered but I didn't bother with taking it off, that's on me to be mindful of the receipt and charges. Although I haven't tried the waffle yet I'll be sure to update once I have. I'm stuck on their veggie omelette and always order that. And maybe the waffle and I were just not meant to be together. My wife n I were there for breakfast today 5/18/24. We ordered our foods n it was good. But we ordered to go for my daughter n she wanted a side order of bacons.,I couldn't believe they charged us $8 for 3 strips of bacon. That's unreal I never seen anybody charged that much for 3 strips of bacon. We're not going back there anytime soon. Advice if u gonna order ur side u better take it look at the menu. There was nothing spectacular about this place. It was pretty forgetful and I almost forgot to write a review, but Yelp kept reminding me that I had a 3 star draft sitting there. Service was a bit slow, and the food was a bit bland. I got the carne asada fries that just weren't very good. The meat was burnt and the fries were soggy. They weren't what I was expecting at all. My party got the tostada salad, chicken fingers, and a Tuscan sandwich. Everyone in my party said the food was just ok. Maybe the breakfast is better. Other tables that got breakfast items seemed to enjoy their meals and the waffles looked pretty good, but I wouldn't go back for lunch. The cafe is small, cramped, and gets packed. Nothing stood out or was even picture worthy. The breakfast looked way better and seems to be what they're known for, so I'll have to return for some waffles or pancakes to update this review. Overall it just wasn't very good. I asked to substitute hash browns for the breakfast potatoes and was told they were out and then that they were saving them for to go orders. My chicken fried steak was ok, the gravy on top was fairly congealed though which makes me think it was sitting under a heating lamp, and the breakfast potatoes were room temperature at best. We had to ask for silverware which was kind of annoying and my water wasn't refilled until after I was finished eating. Sitting outside was nice, except for the people on the sidewalk who were smoking, not exactly what you want while having a meal. There are better options in town and I doubt I'll be back. read more

The service is great and they acknowledged me right away when I walked in to the restaurant. I was seated promptly and was able to order my food relatively quickly. Marc is great. After I was seated, there was a wait For other customers. I ordered their Spanish and their OTC hash cakes. The Spanish is their version of the chilaquiles. It's the prettiest chilaquiles I've ever seen. It has scrambled eggs and fixings on top of tortilla chips. The OTC cakes has hash browns, ham, peppers and onions. It is delicious ooey gooey deliciousness. The atmosphere outside is pleasant. I would definitely come back again, If I was in Camarillo. read more

Very limited seating, but there are plenty of benches and tables at other areas nearby. We ordered the Brooklyn sandwich, French toast, quesadilla, hash browns, and fries. All of it was delicious. Some things like the Brooklyn sandwich and the hash browns got slightly soggy. I would just recommend not ordering these things and leaving them over time. The restaurant didn't notify me when my order was ready though. When I came to pick up my food it still said "order will be ready in 5 minutes," which I found slightly annoying. I was not in a hurry to come get my order because it kept updating telling me it was not ready yet, which contributed to why it got soggy. Me and my husband went to old town cafe for breakfast because I have had it in the past and it was so good I wanted my husband to try it .We got there this morning and it started sprinkling so we got an umbrella for from our car and continued our delicious breakfast on the patio . The Baja Benedict is so good .Our server Michael was exceptional. He kept up on my coffee and service was great even though he had to keep coming out in rain for us :) we loved the little outside patio with a little drizzle makes for a good experience.. Fast forward 3 hours I get a call from an old friend on instagram asking if I had been to old town cafe .I said yes and she said my purse was still there .My heart dropped . I had left my purse on back of my chair outside and left and went home and didn't even think about it . I then got a message on instagram from Marc letting me know my purse was still at restaurant also . I rushed over there and they were so sweet and told me they were hoping I'd be back to get it but then realized I might have not even known I left it .(which I didn't ) I was so appreciative they kept it inside and kept it safe for me .I went to the car to look inside and everything in my wallet was still in there (including all my money I had saved from Christmas to take my little ones to Disneyland Next week. And my brand new AirPods from my husband from Xmas . The low star relates to service. We never got to food as we left. It's small place, ok. There were 3 customers including us. The other 2 already served and eating. We sat there for almost 30 minutes waiting for a server. She originally left a menu and brought water but just left us sitting waiting.
