Stopped here on the way home from a camping trip in the Sierra. They had a great lunch special - cheese burger, fries and drink for $10.00. The food was generous and tasty. We ordered the food to go because we weren't comfortable sitting in their restaurant. They do have outdoor seating but the wait staff weren't wearing masks! The woman who took our order had no mask on at all. I saw another wait staff wearing her mask on her chin. She was waiting on a elderly couple, who were very careful to keep their own masks on. Don't understand this behavior. Do they honestly believe that they aren't contagious if they are serving food outdoors? I wish in hindsight we hadn't purchased a meal there. read more

I've read some reviews and know how "different " people are well I'm a super honest person that being said this place may have room for improvement but the food is a solid 4.5 stars, keep in mind that if hash browns have lots of "flavor" they probably have lots of fats or butters, so order a side of bacon and crumble it up in those taters (you're welcome) I had the crab Benedict because it's one item I usually don't cook at home, it was fabulous.. Awesome!!!!!! The best meal we have had on our trip. I had the Big Boy Omelet w/Country Potatoes and gravy, my wife had The special Burger Combo. Very generous servings and priced very well. Recently tried this restaurant on recommendation of friends and was happy to find another really good breakfast/lunch restaurant in Auburn. The BBQ salad was delicious, good portions and the chicken was extremely tender. Friend had the cobb salad which she also enjoyed. I'm actually sitting in the restaurant as I write this because I'm that disappointed. The service was okay but the food was so gross. My Captains Hook omelet was terrible and fishy. They use small shrimp that smell terrible in the omelet and cook it with the mushrooms so they smell as well. The potatoes aren't bad just over cooked. My boyfriend got the volcano which wasn't bad but it needed some sauce or something more. We came for awful Annie's but they sadly moved to Forresthill so we just sucked it up and came here. We met friends here because we thought it was still Awful Annie's restaurant but noticed that it had changed and figured we would give it a try. There were a few other people seated but no line. After being seated for about 10-15 minutes we started looking up Yelp reviews. It may not have seemed like a long wait if the place was packed but there were only a few other tables with people. The food here was ok. I had a breakfast skillet and it wasn't anything spectacular. The waitress seemed irritated with us which I never did figure out why. We had to track someone down for more water and to ask for napkins. We ended up having to take some from an empty table after being ignored for awhile. Since we were just in town for the day, I don't think I'll be back soon. But if I do return, I'll be checking out a diff restaurant read more

I don't know why this place doesn't have five stars. This place has PHENOMENAL food. My husband got the turkey croissant and I got the pulled pork with beer battered fries. We've been stopping at Old Town Grill for 3 years now, ever since Awful Annie's, the previous occupant, moved. We've never had a bad meal and just love the huge, fresh tasting omelets. The turkey pesto one is no longer on the menu, for some reason, but our server remembered us from last year and told us we could still get it, which we did. One of the options that comes with it is fresh fruit and it was far superior to what you usually get - there were fresh strawberries, watermelon, and 2 other kinds of melon. I don't know how one of the other raters could say the food was 'reconstituted and of low quality.' That sure hasn't been our experience. We love the outdoor patio setting and the servers have been very friendly and accommodating. read more

Wonderful funky old town eatery. Portions are HUGE and well constructed. Prices are most reasonable. The waitstaff were sweet and attentive. I loved the ambiance and laid back pace of the place. My sandwich came with soup which in this case was split pea. The ham part were squares that could not come out of a can, so it must be homemade. read more

No no no! 6 of us came here for lunch only to receive 100% rotten macaroni and cheese for my daughter. It tasted like hot mold. The lady did not apologize nor seem concerned at all. She only asked "what else can I get for you?" Dries sandwiches for all of us lead to a bill of $80. Will never be coming back here again. read more

We had a very delicious breakfast here, this morning (a Thrusday). The serving was large and came in a very timely manor. The service was expectational as well and delightfully friendly. You won't feel ignored or forgotten. We will definitely be coming back!!!! Odd side note: I was delighted that the coffee (decafe) was excellent as well. I don't drink a lot of coffee, but like it to taste good, when I do. Often when we eat out, the coffee is either too week, too strong, or tastes like old sock water. This is a very country feel Grill. The food is excellent and the portions provide enough to carry out. We had Shawn as our server, not once was a drink empty, though the restraunt was busy. My husband and I were walking through old town one afternoon and could smell the wonderful food. We were not able to go in that day so we waited. We went in on Easter. Being relatively new to Auburn we have checked out several breakfast / brunch sort of places and while a few interesting ones out here, Old Town Grill has become our favorite and we are now back there on a regular basis. Great location in historic old town Auburn, very good indoor and outdoor seating, with plenty ceiling fans to make it comfortable even on warmer days, great menu selections catering to all taste and dietary preferences, and last but not the least, Molly and rest of the crew there are just fabulous and whether you are an old timer or a newbie, they make you feel welcome and after the meal you leave with a smile. I ordered California eggs Benedict. The hollandaise was thick and cold. My hash browns were undercooked and cool. My wife ordered a veggie omelette with egg whites which was good but was also served with undercooked hash browns. My daughter ordered chocolate chip pancakes and they came without whip cream. My son ordered Mac and cheese which was rancid. He told me it was not good and he'll eat just about anything. My wife decided to try it and then asked me to try it so we all ate rancid Mac and cheese. They replaced his meal with chicken strips and we were told his meal wouldn't be charged but we received the check with the meal charged. Maybe it was an off day but I'll look elsewhere next time. read more

I rarely write reviews but this place is horrible! There were 3 of us eating lunch. We walked in at 1145 and were seated right away. It took over 30 minutes for the waitress to take our order. We each ordered a caesar salad, one with chicken. Super easy order....or so we thought! When our caesar salads finally got to our table after about 50 minutes, they were made with iceberg lettuce and caesar dressing. so gross! It was now 1:05. I had taken one bite of my salad, pushed it to the side and the waitress drops the check, without asking how the meal. I let her know the salad was awful as I do not like iceberg lettuce and the salad should have been made with romaine lettuce. She stated they were out of romaine and the chef tried to throw something together. I said I would have preferred to been told as the charge was $9.00 for iceberg lettuce and caesar dressing! She did offer to have another salad made for me but I didn't want to wait as we had already been there almost an hour and a half. She took one salad off the bill but two of us barely ate the salads and the third person only did because he was very hungry after our hike. I will never eat here again. It was AWFUL! read more

Just enjoyed a fabulous breakfast at Old Town Grill. We have dined there several times before and they never disappoint. Great Bloody Marys and omelettes with bacon, two types of cheese and lots of veggies. My omelette also included avocado and was beautifully presented with slices of an entire avocado on top. The Bloody Mary was also garnished with an attractive skewer that consisted of a cherry tomato, fluted cucumber slice, a cocktail olive and a green olive stuffed with pimiento. Our waitress Molly was very accommodating and friendly. I like the fact that they are dog friendly and allowed our dog to dine with us on the porch. Old Town Grill also serves lunch. Give them a try when you are traveling in the Auburn area. They are conveniently located right off of highway 80. read more

I was so disappointed to see that this location had changed, but after a day of jury duty I wanted to try it because I was starving. I sat down in the corner table by the kitchen door. I didn't like the location, but there really aren't that many options in the front dining area. The first person who took my drink order was a very rushed, and I kinda felt like I was an inconvenience, I ordered a Bloody Mary, which I had a hard time drinking. It was kind of gross, and felt a little chewy. I ordered navy bean soup and (I think) the caveman sandwich. Both were ok, but nothing special, and I asked for them to add the horseradish sauce to the sandwich, without it, i'm not sure how tasty the sandwich would have been. The waitress changed close to the beginning and I felt like she was friendly but lacking professionalism as a waitress. The restaurant was just lacking something, People, Charisma..... I'm really not sure, however with all the other options around, I'm not sure if I'll be going back to this dining establishment. read more

Our first trip to Old Town Grill was so good we tried it again a few weeks later and were not disappointed. They are very dog friendly on the patio, the service was really great, the food portions were perfect, food was delicious and the value was amazing. I opted for the omelette special on both visits. The omelet was big and loaded with yummy stuff and the plate came with a very nice array of fruit and 2 pieces of buttered toast. The last visit my husband opted for the rib eye steak and egg special. We were comfortably full and our total bill was $22!! How can you beat that?! read more

Before my last visit, I would have given this place 5 stars. Great food, decent prices. I always get food to go, it's always made quickly, and typically pretty tasty. I'm guessing I caught the waitress and kitchen staff on a bad day, or I suppose to close to closing this last time. They close at 3pm, and me and my friends showed up at 225 to place an order to go. The waitress seemed annoyed from the get go, which I guess I could deal with, but if you don't close till 3pm, then you should keep up your customer service at least until then. I brushed it off, ordered my food, paid, tipped her anyway and patiently waited for our order. We left at 250pm with our food. But when we got back to our work, and opened our food, we were not impressed. $6 for 5 onion rings. Pancakes with no syrup. Not to mention the bad vibes from the waitress. Kinda sucks because one lackluster expierence can ruin any future ones. I'm sure I will visit again sometime and if the expierence is different, I will gladly update my review ;) until next time! read more

The setting is great. The outdoor deck was nice. Service is very slow. We waited for the hostess for quite a while before my granddaughter spotted her inside the restaurant and waved her over. The indoor area is very small so being busy inside wasn't an issue. Once seated we waited, and waited, and waited. I finally asked the hostess if they were really busy inside because we couldn't get any service outside. Once the server arrived she did a good job. The best thing we had between the four of us was the fries. The rest of the food was mediocre at best. We had pulled pork, very bland with an overpowering vinegar sauce, macaroni and cheese slathered in velveeta, chicken tenders so over cooked they were crunchy, and fish and chips with mashed potatoes that tasted like they came out of a box. We all love this place love their fresh REAL food. The people working there are the nicest people ever. The decor is lovely and the coffee really good. Great prices and if you order fruit you get freshly cut beautiful fruit. The potatoes are delicious and the omelettes are huge.
