Cute old place that's REALLY hard to find if you don't know where it is. Of bunch of my students were playing here a couple of weeks ago. best part is that they have shots for $3 so you can buy everyone a round without going broke. Nice! Pretty cool small dive bar. They have lots of craft beers and sometimes there's a taco vendor in the back alley area.

There is no menu. $7 draft beer didn't taste fresh. Guinness and blue moon our regular and they did not feel the same.

Good luck finding this place--it's hidden behind the Container Store. My dad used to go to Old Towne Pub back when it was called the Loch Ness Monster. Now I go there sometimes when I'm in Pasadena. Watch for the bartender that tries to rip people off. Also, try not to get jumped by the biker gangs that hang out here. The outside is relaxed enough but the music scene inside is painful. How awesome is this place? This is the coolest bar ever in the Pasadena area. Unpretentious, a little bit of a dive bar, good selection of beer and live music. Let's go back a bit, who doesn't like a good dive bar anyway. If you want to visit Pasadena for drinks and dressing up to stand in line at IX tapa or something similar doesn't sound like a good time... which it isn't. Come here. I liked it's sort of hidden location. The staff are friendly as opposed to most L.A. bars where you are bothering them ordering a drink. The decor is fun and unusual which I loved of course. I went to this Pub on 4th of July weekend to check it out since I am a local Pasadena resident, but this place was HORRIBLE! The bartenders made awful drinks! The music sucked!! The crowd was scary! AND they over charged my credit card! I got two drinks for $12, tipped $2 (which was WAY too much), and they charged $20 on my credit card!! I would warn all to STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! read more

Came to the Pub on March 21 and watched a kick ass show! It wasn't until the last band named The Doubted did I feel that the show really kicked off. They were by far the most amazing band of the night and the most amazing band there. They killed it and I was shocked to hear they were yet to be signed. Will for sure return if you have them at your shop again! read more

Stopped in on a Saturday to check this place out, just because its so hidden. Wasnt really impressed when I got there. It's a small dive bar. The kinda place thats perfect for meeting up with everyone before the night gets going. IF they can find it. On the plus side, mixed drinks are $5. I love old town pub! You can't beat the 2 dolla PBRs and the massive hook ups to not pay cover charge. You find all kinds of people at this pub. Its small so get there early especially weekends because it gets so crowded ts ridiculous! LOL always come here for a good time. You can't also beat the Lockness shots for 2 bucks! read more

Yeah... No. This place is disgusting. Nasty bathrooms. with some mean bouncers. I had enough trouble finding the place. The bouncer from Der Wolfskopft told me how to get there, only when I got there, the bouncer told me I was entering from the back and told me I had to go all the way around to the front. He sent me out towards Fair Oaks to get to Union, instead of going a more direct way. It peeved me cause he could have at least said it nicely. Just, "You can't come in this way. Go to the front." "Okay.. how do I get there?" "You have to go around and up the alley." Welllllll fuhhhskdf. That's specific as hell since thats how I got here. It was a busy night and I took me quiet a while to get any service but I tried to be patient. They were out of most of their taps so I ended up getting blue moon. The blue moon tasted like water, so, for my second I asked for whiskey. They were only serving well whiskey- which I regret. It was nasty and also tasted really watery. Our band, Crinoline, played in January. It had been a long time since we'd played there. It was a great gig. The soundman, Disco, was very helpful, supportive, and engaged. He really helped to make our performance as good as it could be. read more

You can live in Pasadena for years and never know this place exists. I stumbled onto it because my drunk friends met this drunk guy who said - dude, you gotta check this place out, they got rad bands. Through a gauntlet of halls and turns, I really thought my one friend lied to us and was getting some buds. Well, no bands to speak of when we got there it was quite placid. But, hey, pretty cool. Brick inside, short little bar and a pool table up in the corner (I guess were the band goes) and it has a little smoking area outside in a private patio closed in by buildings. Haven't been since, because, well, I keep forgetting about it. 4 stars for uniqueness and it's pro-band policies. read more

Total dive with the entrance in a back alley, very cool vibe and would definitely go back! My friend's blues/soul band played so it was our first time there. Good beers on tap and decent sound for that small of a venue. Could do without the hipsters but if you're looking for some live music and brew definitely check it out! read more

Cute little Old Town pub, with a good beer selection. Be sure to bring cash, their ATM has been known to screw you on dispensing the right amount of money (Trust me, I know from experience!) and they don't accept cards. read more

OTP is the shit!!! Total dive bar beer joint with cool live bands, a great selection of beers and always great drunken madness! It's a shame they built the Container Store in front of it, a shitty big box store full of big boxes to store all the worthless crap you buy at the mall. But it does provide cover, which is awesome. Cover to drink, cover to carouse, cover to rock out to great bands and get crazy. It's an institution with a proud tradition that I hope goes on forever. Long live the OTP!!! read more

Love this place! A bunch of my friends have bands that play here regularly so I find myself here every couple of weeks. I've made friends with a couple of the bartenders and they're the nicest, always remembering what I want--which is a $2 PBR, of course. I'm not just saying this cause I'm partially biased--the bands that play here are consistently great. I've bought music from bands I'd never heard after hearing them here. There's just a great atmosphere here, nice open space in the middle of the room, and a nice little patio right outside. Also, there's a big gate separating this place from a weird club place next door, and after a few of those cheap beers we've definitely snuck over there for a little ridiculous dancing and snuck right back. I can't recall ever having a bad time here and I know I'll inevitably end up back here soon. read more

Came here with a friend to see a band play. Band wasn't so great but the bar was! It's hidden down an alley between Union and Holly. Once inside I immediately felt like I had left Los Angeles. Exposed brick, outdoor area with a stairwell covered in ivy and towering wood fence and door. The bands that played were not that impressive (some were down right terrible) but I can't speak for other nights. I definitely will go back....hopefully on a night with better music. read more

As the name says, Old Towne, very atypical dive bar. Cool place. No pretense and you've got live music for entertainment.

The music was fabulous as well as the atmosphere. The bartenders were very attentive and really took the time to figure out what I needed to drink. This place is really hard to find if you don't pay attention, because it's an alley that leads directly to the spot. The crowd is a mixture of young and middle aged, but everyone is welcoming and inviting. read more

Dear Old Towne Pub, I'm going to treat you better than you treated me! The good: this place reminds me of a bunch of divey/college-y bars I used to frequent up in SLO. It's kinda dirty, kinda run down, serves PBR in a can, and the has live music. It's an excellent place to drink beer and chill. It seems to attract a colorful crowd of folks and I think the place actually repels the guidos (a definite plus). The bad: this place charged my card twice for my tab. That sucks. But it doesn't suck nearly as much as the frustration I experienced trying to get the error corrected. I called four times, talked to people 3 of those four times and was assured that they would "look into it" or "have a manager call me." After four days of waiting for them to fix their mistake I finally had Wells Fargo call and it took them all of 30 minutes to get my money back and close the case. In my opinion pubs do three things: provide a place to drink, provide drinks, and provide the accompanying services that enable drinking (like accepting payment or fixing mistakes). These guys couldn't manage to do the third part correctly but because they do the first two things very well, I am still giving four stars. Easy fix: bring cash. read more

Extremely hard to find unless you really know you way around, but definitely worth looking. It is a true dive bar with just a dozen seats at the bar and dirty bathrooms. But everyone is nice and the drinks are cheap. The main reason to come here is the live music. I have seen a few local bands here and they have all been really good. It was nice to go out to the patio, and one time the neighbors in the adjoining building even offered me some bar-b-cue they were doing for a small neighborhood party. read more

We always end a night out in Pasadena at Old Towne Pub. It's tradition. I love everything about this place. It is a tiny little dive bar in a hidden alley with live music every night. The bands are usually either amazing or hilariously awful. I've seen all kinds of bands here- metal, punk, indie, hip hop, country. There's usually some real crazy characters hanging out in and around the pub, so I'm always entertained even when the music sucks. read more

The strangest part about the Old Towne Pub is that it appears to be a dingy dive bar, but as soon as you enter it's really not. It's very clean and open-spaced. There's random decor everywhere but it's actually charming. The drinks are cheap but great! They play great local live music. Sometimes the music gets really too loud, but it's not the Pub's fault, it's the band's. The crowd that gathers is usually very friendly. The outdoor area is small but way more than adequate. The only thing I would request is an outdoor heater. I was here once on my 21st birthday and the second time to see "THE ATOLLS" play. Their show was great! Great back Alley (literally) dive. Live music and a small but solid selection of craft beer. Bit loud for conversation once the music starts, but pretty quiet in the early evening. Regulars keep to themselves but can be engaged if you make a bit of effort. read more
