It's ok, had an omelette with home fries and a bagel - my little one had pancakes and we split their famous apple crisp thing. I didn't care for the potatoes, they had either too much Smokey paprika or the grill needed to be cleaned a little better. They were more mushy than crispy. The omelette was good, had that undertone taste like the potatoes. Their apple crisp surprise is French toast deep fried. It's like a carnival fritter. After a night at Mohegan we were starving and decided to skip the free continental breakfast at the hotel. We knew we wouldn't make it home, so we looked up local breakfast places in the area and Olde Tymes Restaurant popped up, so we decided to give it a whirl. The interior was very rustic and had some charm. We werent seated per se, but rather were pointed to a table, which I thought was a little odd. The menu was quite extensive and had so many great choices and the prices were quite reasonable. I ended up with a standard egg, toast, homefries and sausage meal. I was in the mood for a mix of everything and it was good. Better than most places I've frequented as I didn't find the food overly greasy by any means. My fiance ordered the Cinnamon Crunch French Toast (not 100% sure of the name), and let me tell you - that alone would have me going back. It was like cinnamon french toast meets dough boy goodness. They had a hot apple juice/cider type sauce to dip it in as well as maple syrup and the portion was enough to feed two. I wish I had ordered that instead, or left more room to pick on it! It was delicious!! Our waitress was attentitive and I loved the juice served in mason jars, nice touch! I found this place through Yelp recommendations. We were looking for a breakfast place after a crazy night at Mohegan. There were probably places closer and more convenient to our hotel, but I was intrigued to find this place. We were so happy we found it; it was SO cheap and the service is SO quick. If I could give this place a zero I would. This establishments management publicly humiliated one of their disabled employees. Spoke in a high toned manner, if she didn't have a specific tool to in hand at every given moment, she could find a new form of employment. Not only was it unprofessional, but was absolutely unacceptable. I couldn't believe my eyes with how degrading it was. I will never return to this establishment again, and be sure to let that employee know we appreciate her and that she is good at her job. Where to begin... Ok, I'm from Plainfield CT and was around 16 years old when I first ate at Olde Tymes. I am now 43 years old and have lived in Boston for almost 20 years. Needless to say, I have eaten at many, many restaurants over the years...high end, low end, Boston, NYC, as well as many other places as well. I only get to eat at Olde Tymes once every few years or so nowadays. I had breakfast here yesterday with my boyfriend and two other friends that are big foodies. All three of them were blown away by the food and the service. The staff really treat you like they know you. Between the four of us we had omelets, hash, biscuits and gravy, chicken fried steak and of course cinnamon crisp french toast as well as other delicious things. It doesn't matter what you order, Olde Tymes is like the ultimate home-cooked food that you want. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, they got you. Boston has some excellent restaurants, but we do not have Olde Tymes....not even close. My parents ate here monthly at the least when they were alive. , There truly is nothing like this place. read more

I like this place a lot. Cheap prices, fast service and very good food. I have been here three times now and I have got the Tyler's Pile up every single time because it is so good. I cannot get enough of that dish. Please get that if you come here, it is one of my favorite breakfast dishes. The biscuits and gravy isn't the best I would consider it average. Home-fries are good. We used to be regulars for breakfast but when they changed their menu they were obviously trying to save money my 3 year old ordered french toast he got 1 piece of bread and was still hungry I talked to the waitress who was normally nice and she said the owners were trying to stop food from going in the garbage. that's a nice thought and all but my son shouldn't leave a restaurant hungry and from that day forward we had not been back which is unfortunate since we loved the breakfast and they lost great customers. I was in recently for lunch. I had a chicken pot pie for lunch. It was great. I also enjoy the ambiance and the mason jar glasses. The service was good from door, completely through the meal. Not in your face, but around when I wanted her. My buddy had breakfast and it also looked great. He said it was very good. I don't get here as often as I once did because I am not exactly in the area now, but coming to Olde Tymes, you can always find something you want to eat, even if you don't know what it is you'd like to eat. My husband and I love this place. They do a great breakfast and the moment you walk inside its like being in a little country store...its cute and quaint filled with antiques. Both lunch and Dinner are excellent as well. they serve fresh Stonington Seafood... Also you can get a bloody Mary with Breakfast after 9 if that's your thing...its home cooked comfort food at its best. I would have to recommend the Rocky Point Clam Cakes with a nice hot bowl of Boston Clam Chowder.. Its thick and creamy and the clam cakes are perfect. read more

It took more than 10 yrs, but after seeing this place on the food network, I was finally able to come here. Before driving back to Boston to fly home to California, we stopped by here for breakfast. I had the old tyme house special omelet and it was very good. Unfortunately it lacked sausage pieces in it so i have to deduct a star. I also had a bite of the cinnamon crisp and boy was that delicious. Too bad I was already full or else i would have down a couple of slices. This is a great place for breakfast. If you are yearning for cold tasteless French toast with syrup out of fast food style containers or have a hankering for some bad ham, stop by Olde Tymes. The tea was ok, but only because they gave me Lipton tea bags and a pitcher of lukewarm water so I could prepare it myself. The thimble of potentially artificial orange juice washed the flavor of Aunt Jemima from my mouth. I've heard if you play your cards right you can also get some expired yogurt on multiple occasions. Why anyone would come back on multiple occasions is beyond me but the word masochist comes to mind. At least the server was either careless or smart enough to never bother coming back to ask how our food was after leaving it on the overcrowded small table. Old Tymes is a Norwich classic- I can remember MANY Sunday breakfasts at this place from my childhood. Now that I'm an adult and travel to Norwich for work occasionally, I'll stop in for a classic, two eggs-homefries-toast meal. This place has been serving their drinks in mason jars WAY before it was "trendy", and they also bring a carafe of coffee over to the table so you don't have to keep asking for refills. Some of my coworkers won't set food inside Old Tymes because they think it's shabby, but I kind of love that vibe. They've got an expansive breakfast menu, with lots of egg dishes, along with pancakes, etc, and the prices are cheap, the service fast, and the building HUGE. There can be a wait with the post-church Sunday crowd, but for a midweek breakfast, never. read more
