The seating arrangement is always an issue, and this time they forcibly moved my party right after we had just sat down. They placed us directly in front of the speakers, and the music was blasting in our ears the entire time. The couches are gross, and for such a small restaurant in Ventura, they're way too strict with their diners. Everything is overpriced--especially the hookah. Beautiful ambience and this is where any decent experience ended. When we were seated and given menus, and we asked for something to drink on a hot day (and this is an outdoor patio), we were told by our server he was the only one there so this is why a reservation should've been made (patio was hardly full, btw, not even half full) -- and that he would be back in 10 minutes. With some water which we asked for. On a very hot day. After complaining to us about how busy he was, he then said "you're not in a rush, are you?" This was a work lunch so YES -- actually, we don't have time to sit here for hours while this person makes us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome and we have to go back to work. After this, service obviously not great. And the food portions for what this place charges are RIDICULOUS -- so small. I been calling to have the manager or owner call me back for one week the manager/owner hasnt called back. I had the most unpleasant dining experience. My friends and I were excited to check this spot out. Extremely poor service. After waiting an hour+ for our food, we called the server. We were told the kitchen was having issues. We noticed other diners who got there after us receiving their meals. The server was unhelpful and tried to bill us for items we never received. First let me say the hostess was super sweet. But that's where the positives end. She was playing hostess and waiter so she wasn't super attentive even though it was a slow night. After what felt like 15 minutes of waiting we flagged down someone to grab our waiter. That happens. 1/5 of the dishes ordered comes out. After half an hour of waiting we were told one of the dishes we ordered wasn't available. Another 10, 15 minutes goes by. At this point we're contemplating just leaving. Then 3/4 of people waiting get their meals. One of the meals is cold, it was the vegetable plate so it was mushy. The meal they had to change comes out 5-10 minutes later and the sides are cold because it had been previously plated. We got there at 7:30 and we ate around 9. Before being seated I had let them know it was a birthday and asked if we could do dessert. I cancelled it. We had no faith it wouldn't take another hour to come out. Mind you no one was clearing plates. When apps or entrees did arrive they would hand us the plate which was weird. The entire vibe was terrible from the service to the fact we're eating dinner and people are smoking hookah around us. Our waiter did give us free dessert which was nice (again she was super sweet) but we just wanted to get out of there. Not at all worth the $28+ a plate. Also, the bathroom is always an indicator (in my opinion) to the cleanliness of a restaurant and while it wasn't the worst it wasn't clean. Wouldn't recommend. read more

The only reason I'm giving this place a 3 stars is because I felt rushed through the entire experience . We arrived at 10:15 and they close at 2:00 . My appetizer came out just a few minutes before my food . I like to finish my appetizer before I get my dinner . My dinner came so fast and it was undercooked . I ordered the Lamb chops dinner and my fiancé ordered the filet mignon . We also got a hoohkah we didn't feel comfortable finishing . Everyone was sweeping and taking out trash ready to leave . I've been a server for 20 years and that's so rude . They closed early I'm guessing because us and one other table was there . The server was nice but she cared about leaving work asap . Food I'd have to say portion size for salads was less , vegetarian options are extremely less left with just falafel & rice to eat . For meat eaters especially the chicken lule was well cooked , soft & juicy and did look like they used better parts of chicken rather than left over scraps of chicken meat which is what most restaurants do . The ambiance is definitely date night worthy. During the weekend they have belly dancers that put on a nice show & they do get very busy so if you are a large group, make reservations. Their service is great & the food is delicious along with their cocktails. However, expect to pay a pricey bill as well. They also serve amazing hookah which is unique from all the other places & last quite some time. One thing I do suggest is NOT TO USE VALET. They charge a hefty fee & the guy told me PLUS TAX. Since when does valet charge tax?? Outside of valet, I would highly recommend a Saturday date night or going there with some of your guys or having a girls night. Cute little place we came upon for a friend's bday brunch on a Sunday. Four of us got seated right away around 1:30pm. Inside is really cute with table or booth seating. We sat in a booth and it was comfortable. Food was good. I had the combo beef and chicken lulas plate. We also shared Armenian salad and 2 orders of the beef lahmajoun. They are also known for their drinks. Friends had few rose and their cocktails. I was too hungover to try. Parking. Bit confusing. When you first enter the plaza, it appears like only valet is available but if you just drive past thru valet, there's a parking structure. I ended up valeting because I didn't know better and cost $15. Structure parking probably is about few dollars. Friend also found street meter parking and since it was Sunday, free. A place for meat eaters, for vegetarians and pescatarians there is almost no choice. The prices are high, the food is not worth it... I had much tastier and better quality for much less. He is quick with a joke and a smile and to regale us with a story. The food is legendary - the best Mediterranean food in the city . The beef shawarma is my favorite and of course the assortment of salads . The aperol spritz in the outdoor patio epitomizes a relaxing Saturday or Sunday afternoon ( they just opened for daytime).. However, if you go in the evening make sure you get the belly dancers and guitar playing- there is just nothing like it in the city. Check in host said they are preparing tables, but all tables were prepared already and you can see that while checking in which was funny. As far as the food: - trio was tasty, but it came with couple of breads only, we asked additional bread, and saw that they charged extra $4 on the bill, if they are charging they should have mentioned that, not a very big deal but not a good approach too imo in mediterrean restaurant - greek salad, it was ok, but we prefer olives to be pitted - mantee, not tasty at all, it was over cooked and hard eat, very little flavor, ate mantee many times in different places, this one definitely was the worst - lahmajoon, again no flavors at all, and not tasty at all - lula, this was tasty and rice was also pretty decent While ordering drink, server asked what kind of vodka I want in my drink, while the menu states it is Beluga vodka(which is a good vodka). I asked what do you normally put and server said house vodka. So not sure what is going there... Since I was waiting over 20 mins for them to pay the bill, I was checking the prices and saw that the menu price for the drink was charged higher in the bill. They said, they just updated the price and forgot to update the menu, I gave the benefit of the doubt, but after a week, I see that they still have the old price on the menu(which is online). Overall there were some small but uncomforting things throughout the night. Also, they serve hookah and tables are very close to each other, so if you go for dinner, you can be under the smoke easily. There are much better mediterranean restaurants in LA. My friend and I finally got the chance to have a night out. I'm glad we choose this place because for one the atmosphere was very nice. And off course the food was good. We started off with a few appetizers. The sarma was on point, the fattoush salad was good but had a little to much sumac for us and the cheese fatayer was simply amazing. For the main course we shared the beef and chicken lula kabob combo which came with rice. I really like the presentation, the chicken was good but the beef was a bit under cooked. Our waiter was super nice and when we asked for recommendations he gave us some great ones especially when it came to dessert which sadly I don't have a picture of. But make sure to try any of there dessert I'm sure they are all delicious. read more

My brother and I went here to celebrate my birthday. Service was very nice! Especially our server, she was very helpful and explained everything as far as drinks go, food etc. The drinks were great! Hookah could have been better. And the food had a different taste than what I'm used to when it comes to mediterranean food but it was tasty. The ambiance is very soothing and nice. Great live music and beautiful decor. All was great till I had to use the restroom. The women's restroom was very gross. The toilet was dirty, the paper toilet was all on the floor. I was ashamed of how nice it was on the outside but not so clean in the restroom. Management should be aware of this. I will be back though. Just clean your restrooms! :) read more

My friend took me to celebrate my birthday here. It's a beautiful restaurant and the food is good however, it was some of the worst service either of us had ever experienced. We went on Monday night and it wasn't super busy. It took an hour to get our food. Mine was iced cold and my friends came and it wasn't what she ordered. The waiter said it would be a few minutes before he came back with my hot food and her correct order. It took a few minutes for mine to arrive and it was good. However, my friend made it very clear when she ordered that she's allergic to gluten and would get very sick if pita was on the plate. It took 20 minutes to get what she actually ordered and the chicken was sitting on top of pita bread! We got to the restaurant at 7:30, by this point it was around 9pm. She hadn't eaten. Another 20 minutes later they finally got her order right. They took it off the bill and gave us free watermelon. Although, there really wasn't much of an apology. Alas during this time we have scaled back our restaurant eating considerably, but when an occasion merits it (such as a big birthday or engagement) this has been our place to go with small groups.
