My new favorite restaurant. My favorite entree is the fettuccine alfredo with chicken. The flavor is wonderful and the chicken very flavorful and tender. Is is accompanied by a side salad, I enjoyed the vinaigrette. Large portions but for a $3.00 charge will allow splitting. They split it for you instead of making you deal with that on your own. I was there on a cool day, by Florida standards. They did not have a good selection of hot tea. But maybe that has been taken care of or not. It is not a tea room after all. There is outside dining with a view of Lake Dora. My friend and I enjoyed sitting outside until a gust of wind picked up an umbrella and sat it down on another table. The servers put all the umbrellas down, the next set of diners raised them again. Our time was up so we don't know the result of that action. BEWARE of umbrellas on gusty days. read more

Went there on Sunday for a later lunch. Juan was full of humor and details about everything we asked about. When asked whether the salmon or the swordfish would be best atop her salad, he quickly said he'd ask the chef. Upon returning, Juan informed us the flavors would compliment the swordfish. Wow! Never expected this. He kept our water glasses filled and even brought a second, larger glass as we were draining them as soon as he filled them. My grilled chicken wrap was FULL of tender, not over cooked, chopped chicken with just the right amount of lettuce. Another had the gyro. Although it was not shaved off of the roast, it was juicy and thicker cut making it perfect. Oh yes, and the tzatsiki (spelling?) sauce was over the top with fresh dill. I even put it on my chicken wrap. Ending our meal was a delicious, large cup of cappuccino. No room for dessert for this group. I'm a local and have been here several times with friends. Two stars are generous but in the spirit of Christmas, I give them an extra star. The food was mediocre at best but The worst part was the musicians playing so freakin loud we had to scream to speak to one another. For the past 2 months, I have been coming about once a week with my family and my puppy and sitting outside on the deck. Four of us had lunch here earlier in the week and we sat outside. The service was great as was the atmosphere and the food. We took a look at the inside part of the place and decided we had to try it out for dinner. Last night we did just that. We had a reservation and when we arrived we were seated immediately. I recommend a reservation as it's very busy. As we hoped The service was 5 star, The food was out of this world. There was a young fellow playing classical guitar who is talented way beyond his age. This was the best meal and one of the best evenings we've had in Mount Dora. If I had any complaint at all it would be this. The water served with dinner was room temp at best. And the Menu's are way too big for the size of the table. Or perhaps the tables are too small for the menus. At any rate. We can't wait to go back. This is one classy place. read more

If only the food was as good as the atmosphere. Great mellow, classic vibe from the water. Feels like an old school, traditional, Italian restaurant. The high Yelp reviews brought us here, excited for a good meal. Unfortunately, not only was it overpriced, the food was below mediocre. $12 for bruschetta - no cheese. No burrata. No mozzarella. Just straight up, bread, tomatoes, garlic and basil. TWELVE DOLLARS?? Nah. I'm a huge foodie who works in restaurant/hospitality for years. That price was pretty shocking for what this dish entailed. I had a mixed seafood plate. The potato leek soup it came with was average, but still good. However, the mixed seafood plate was highly disappointing. I guess I might've missed the memo that the scallops were to be steamed. But I've learned my lesson to never EVER eat steamed scallops again. Flavorless and a mixture of mushy and chewy, I thought it was common knowledge that the best ways to serve scallops were grilled or pan seared. I'll even take them in a good stew. But never steamed. The fish fillet was maybe 3" x 1" small. Barely a fish fillet. And the steamed shrimp was equally as unimpressive, albeit a latger portion of the meal. The "scampi" sauce wasn't really much of a sauce at all. And if it was, I didn't taste a thing outside of the weird array of spices they used to flavor what seemed like an unsalted variety of seafood. Basically it was totally flavorless with a mediocre pile of what tasted like Uncle Ben's boxed rice as their "rice" pilaf. "Want a box for leftovers?" They asked. Erm. No thanks. I'd like to never eat this food again. Also, that was a good $26 right there. Rib eye was thin. Overcooked. For a cut that size, I don't know why people bother asking for how a customer wants it cooked. Because there's no way to make that anything less than well done. Meat wasn't seared well. The fat was floppy and gross. I make ribeye at home, and for less than $36 can do a beautifully seared THICK steak. You'd hope the pros would have it down, especially at that price. 2 stars for the atmosphere and view. read more

Best Mediterranean place in town!! I have come here twice for lunch and the service was wonderful! Everyone is very polite! Mediocre food, it wasn't horrible, it wasn't amazing. The service was horrid. Our waitress had resting bitch face down to a science and seemed very annoyed that we were there. The bus boy was the friendliest person in the business, and the only reason we gave an 18% tip, we didn't want to short his % tip out. No pre bussing, we had to flag others down for water. We were only 1 of 3 tables on a Friday afternoon. We had three children with us, and twice, employees loudly dropped "F" bombs. One of the cooks (?) came out of the kitchen twice and he looked like he had just mowed 5 acres with a push mower, then buried a dead body, his clothes were that gross. The restaurant is tired, outdated, uninspiring and in much need of a cleaning, especially, the bathrooms. How this place gets great reviews, dumbfounds me. Not worth the $100+ we spent. read more

Olive Branch is one of our favorite places downtown for a relaxing lunch or fabulous dinner. We always have leftovers and the prices are fantastic for the amount and quality of the cuisine. Karen and Jerry and their team took such great care of us and our families for our wedding rehearsal dinner. I had lunch with a friend today and it was the perfect atmosphere for great conversation on both the personal and business fronts. I love the Fresh Mozzarella and Tomatoes starter and GF Fettucini Alfredo main course. Our servers are always professional and nice. We recommend the Mediterranean Salad for lunch, and my friend added salmon to hers which looked amazing! They have great live music and an excellent wine list as well! read more

It's difficult in Mount Dora to be an upstart restaurant with so many good food options within a four block radius but the Olive Branch has done a great job! My wife and I came here for lunch, she had a wonderful potato leek soup with just the right amount of garlic (sometimes the downfall of new Italian restaurants). I enjoyed the Tortellini Bolognese, the best I have had (outside of Il'Mulino New York) . Their prices are on the high side for dinner but really reasonable for lunch, especially with the size the portions you get. read more

Bland, poorly prepared. I had the Cesar salad which was warm when brought to the table. Then the Mediterranean Seafood which was bland and poorly prepared. The best part of the evening was the Margarita. Overall this is a family restaurant in a good neighborhood but needs a better menu or chef. My companion had two appetizers. The Mezes platter and the Eggplant Rollatini. The Meze platter had warmed over spinach pie which was very bad and inedible. The gyro meat was clearly not made traditionally. Unfortunately i cannot recommend this restaurant.I am no food critic critic by any stretch of the imagination however i do know good from bad. Let me start out by saying the staff was attentive and had no issues their at all. I ordered the soup of the day it was ok but cold barely warm to the pallet. My dish of choice was grilled cajon salmon again arrived to me warm not hot,very dry and bland.I also had the vegetables medley the zucchini was mushy and watery while the rest of the vegetables were as they should be with the correct texture and bite. If not for the seasoning on the salmon it would not have had any flavor at all. My guest had a pasta dish which was mediocre at best! No fresh pepper,the salt shaker was clogged from being outside packaged butter . I could have over looked any one of the above mentioned items but the combination of all made for a bad dining experience! I would have expected more for the price of the entrees than what i received. Will not be going back! read more

I had decided to eat at the Olive Branch when I learned I'd be in Mount Dora, because I love Greek food and especially Greek salads. The absolutely have one of the best Greek salads I've ever had! The veggies were fresh and they were very sensitive to my allergy to Tomatoes. I also got the fried mozzarella which was okay. Nothing to write home about but again, they were okay.
