I love this place, it's literally right around the corner from my apartment. I come here for breakfast and I love the outdoor seating and friendly atmosphere. Last time I was here we ordered pancakes and I had scrambled eggs and toast with turkish coffee. Everything tasted really good and the pancakes were huge! I would choose having breakfast here over The Mission for the location (closer to my house), the outdoor seating and there is not an astronomical wait time to be seated. I know the Mission has great food and different selection, but I'm too impatient to wait that long for a table. There is also a creamery next door. Last time I was there we got a banana split. You get to choose three flavors and two toppings. The kids chose beaches and cream, chocolate and cookie dough. The toppings they got were choco rocks and m&m's. The ice cream is really creamy and not overly sweet. You can tell the ingredients are "better quality" than what you would get at the store. It was worth the $7. I've order a few of the omelette options and even ventured to get chile quiles once. The omelettes were ok. Nothing bad, but kinda plain. The chile quiles.... I don't even know why they had it on the menu. It was just bad nachos. Like tortilla chips microwaved too long with shredded cheese. I make excuses to come to the bay so I can come here! the place is super cute, staff friendly, and great selections from smoothies to fresh made scones, and egg dishes. So far i've had bfast (just wasn't a fan of the hash) and a great acai bowl, and delish scones. My boyfriend and I have been wanting to try eating at new restaurants since we always eat at the same places and I am so glad we found Olive Cafe. It is such a quaint little cafe that is very close to the beach. The parking sucks, as it always does in Mission Beach, but make sure you check the parking lot by the Aquatic Center before you try street parking. We waited in line about 5 minutes before we ordered (not too bad) and at that point almost every table was filled. Luckily, people started filing out as we stepped up to the register so we had a choice between the patio or indoor seating. As for the food, I ordered the MZ Heart Scramble and asked for them to hold the tomatoes on the side. The cashier asked if I would like to sub avocado, for no charge, which was a pleasant surprise. My scramble was pretty good, I just wanted some hot sauce to go on it and our waitress forgot to bring me some, but they had a huge rush after I asked, so I didn't mind at all. The side of fruit tasted fresh and was very refreshing. My boyfriend ordered one of the french toast options and he barely even talked to me during our meal because he was busy piling food into his mouth (meaning he loved it). We also split and acai bowl, which was delicious! I appreciated the amount of granola they put on top because I believe granola to be one of God's finest creations, but that's besides the point. Overall, we loved Olive Cafe. The service was wonderful and the food was fairly priced. We have already talked about going back and calling in an order to-go so we can eat it on the beach. read more

Part of my morning ritual... every morning. I live and work in Mission Beach and stop by to power up with a homemade scone or Acai smoothie. I've had more elaborate plates here as well but usually keep it "grab-n-go". The staff is super friendly and cute as buttons. Aww this place is soo cute! It's super small, so I wouldn't recommend coming with a big group! The decor of this little cottage is really cute and homey. You go in and order first, then find a seat. They have so many options of breakfast food (and lunch specials too, but it's really all about the breakfast, imo). I had the Sultan's special scramble, which had chorizo, bell peppers, onions, and tomatos. The scramble also comes with toast and hash browns, so good... The food came super fast. I was paddle boarding at Mission Bay, which is only a 2 minute walk from the cafe. My friend and I ordered acai bowls and it was only about $6.50, which is cheaper than average. I loved how the smoothie wasn't too sugary but with the added fruits, granola and honey the ingredients formed the perfect level of sweetness for my taste buds. Overall very refreshing and the servers were friendly! Will definitely come back next time I'm in this area. :-) read more

It's not bad, it's just boring. I love the cute atmosphere of the old house with plenty of seating outside, but that's the main thing it had going for it. The menu was fairly similar to a lot of other breakfast spots in the area, and the wait to get the food was short... But the food was unimpressive. I got the dad's favorite pancakes, which were described as with berries and chocolate chips. Ok. But the chocolate chips were dark chocolate, which I actually hate. The pancakes themselves-- both mine and my husband's plain ones-- we're meh and not at all fluffy. The syrup they provided was individual containers of smuckers, which has corn syrup as its main ingredient and HFCS as its second ingredient. Gross! My husband's home fries were also uninspired, and a touch greasy. My husband's eggs and coffee were ok. My Turkish coffee was also ok, but no sugar was provided with it, which was a bit odd. I loved having breakfast at this cute quaint cafe! I wanted to try a new sit down breakfast in PB without spending a lot of money, so on another gorgeous sunny San Diego morning, I dragged my boyfriend here for hearty morning bites. Olive Cafe is an "order at the counter, then take your seat" place, so there was lots of seating to choose from (though not much covered area, even with patio umbrellas.) I chose the cinnamon roll french toast while my boyfriend chose a veggie omelette. The food came fairly quickly and in good sized portions without making us too full. The french toast was perfectly sweet and not hefty. The omelette had good flavor, packed with veggies and the feta cheese gave it an extra kick. For coffee drinks, I had a thin mint blended mocha, which was like a frappuchino and perfect on a warm morning. I came here last Sunday with some friends for breakfast before paddle boarding at the bay. The location is walking distance so it was very convenient. I had the croissant breakfast sandwich without meat and they were able to sub avocado for no extra charge which was nice. My boyfriend ordered the mediteranean wrap adding chicken which he thought was super delicious and not too heavy. I was searching for good breakfast near Pacific Beach, and, once again, Yelp helped me out! My husband and I ate here for a late breakfast on a Monday morning. The reviews were correct; parking was difficult. We were able to find a spot at the nearby park, and the walk wasn't bad at all. When we arrived, the patio was swarmed with two different bicycle groups, so it looked very busy, but one group was just clearing out so it worked out great, and we snagged a table on the patio. I ordered the mixed berry pancakes, and my husband had some kind of breakfast burrito. My orange juice even came with a splash of pomegranate juice, which made it really good!! The food came out pretty quickly, and it was great! My pancakes had tons of berries mixed in with banana slices on top. They were just the way I like them - fluffy with a little bit of crisp on the edge! My husband said his breakfast burrito was very good as well. I always call in so I don't have to wait in their insane line that exists all summer long. For breakfast, i do the breakfast bagel with bacon & cheese. I also love the LT's breakfast quesadilla. This is a great brunch spot, hence the long line around 12:30PM on a Sunday. I've eaten here 3 times and each had me going back for more. The delicious coffee here comes with free refills. Olive Cafe also makes its own biscotti and bakes fresh scones and sweets. There is a variety of scrambled eggs dishes that come with toast and hash browns. If you're cutting carbs, you can switch out the toast option with sliced avocados. If you're craving acai bowls, this place has it too. The menu has lots of selections such as salads, sandwiches, fruit bowls, and smoothies. Keep an eye out for their specials and espresso menu on the bulletin board! So I was staying in the area over the Thanksgiving holiday, soaking up the warm Southern California sun and enjoying the beach in late fall (In some ways it almost feels criminal) when my mother-in-law suggested having breakfast at Olive Cafe. I never would have found the place on my own. That's because Olive is on a side street and in some ways is inconspicuous, blending very well with the surrounding neighborhood. That alone should tell you that this is a casual place, an establishment that seeks to make you feel at home and engenders comfort. My initial impression was that this was a place locals attended, but that took nothing away from my welcome here...nor the food for that matter. I'm a spicy food kind of guy. And I was pleased as punch that Olive Cafe had a "Spicy Omelet" composed of three eggs, Turkish sausage, and I believe a little cheese, along with home cooked potatoes and half a baguette. It was a far portion of food at a reasonable price. Washing all that down with a hot cup of coffee brightened my morning and started my day off right. Yeah, if I was a local I imagine I'd be a regular here...the baked goods alone would beckon me even as my gut tells me I have no business eating any of it. read more

There was a pretty long line to order. They also do not have air conditioner inside the room where you place your order. I asked for an iced vanilla coffee and they didn't add the vanilla, which was disappointing. I ordered a breakfast flatbread. It was, DELICIOUS. It was a perfect combination of ingredients. The service was not too great. We asked a girl for another salsa, and she made a face. Any time we asked for something, it seemed to bother the waitress. Well this is a cute house in a perfect location next to Mission Bay / Beach. The patio is very nice when San diego is sunny. Waiter who took our order was friendly; even though I don't understand why they give you paper cup for your coffee when you will stay there (I got a real mug after asking). I had a combo with scrambled egg / pancakes / bacon etc that was ok. I have to say I lost a bit my appetite after finding an eye lashe in my food. My friend had some banana pancakes that were pretty fluffly. But.... Being a little sweaty from a bike ride, I ventured back into Olive Cafe to try and cool down with one of their ice drinks. I tried the Iced Chai Latte and it hit the spot.
