I know it's not like visiting Italy but for what they make it's pretty darn good. Last Tuesday I was at Miracle Ear for an exam and Olive Garden was near so I ventured in. I only had two appetizers for lunch and took home dinner for me and a friend. I had for lunch five meat balls with sauce and mozzarella sticks. The meal was very fulfilling so much so that my dinner Steak Gorgonzola was put off to a day after but my friend devoured her Chicken Parmigiana and salad. What a feast!! Arrivederci !! read more

We haven't been to a restaurant in person in quite a long time and were a bit apprehensive. I'm happy to report that Olive Garden made us feel completely at ease. They were all wearing masks and cleaning/sanitizing. Our waiter, Dom, was honest to goodness, probably the best server we have ever had. From our first moment to the last, he was attentive, kind, and helpful. I had the Tour of Italy; My husband had Cheese Ravioli; My kids both selected the Choose Your Own Pasta. First, I was impressed with the handwashing signs in the bathroom. Double washing is a great idea ... and we are in flu season. We (3 adults & 3 kids) were seated in a large comfortable booth. The breadsticks with a vat of alfredo were a hit. One serving of the fried cheese served all of us. The picky eaters were able to tailor their meals. I would have preferred spring greens to head lettuce in the salad. The children enjoyed their pizzas. Two of the adult meals were the sirlion. The meals were cooked to preferences. I had the shrimp scampi. The noodles reminded me of ramen. The dining room was empty when we arrived. A family of 3 were seated in the 6 person booth behind us. The infant had ear-piercing screams from the front door, through the meal, and out the door. It doesn't reflect on the restaurant but definitely decreased our enjoyment of the meal. BEWARE: There is a "gameboy" on the table with a credit card slot. The children decided to pass it around. I received a video game charge ($2). At no time did the "gameboy" ask for my credit card to start use. The waitress explained once a game is opened charge automatically appears. I thought that was sneaky. It only gets docked because it's a chain and therefore nothing super special buuttt... it never disappoints. The servers are always so kind and upbeat. Their salad and breadsticks are delicious. No one ever leaves unsatisfied. Olive Garden is a formula that works. And this one seems to have the happiest people. read more

We ordered takeout during the shut down of non-essential businesses so I feel like I should preface the review with that. We ordered takeout for 4:50, submitted it an hour ahead of time and pulled up and had to wait 45 minutes for the food to come out. There were LOTS of other cars waiting as well. I don't want to be overly critical of that because I'm assuming they are just keeping a skeleton crew there and were perhaps taken by surprise with orders. I just wish they could have called to let us know how far behind they were. We just live a short drive away and would have just waited comfortably at home. The food was decent. Typical consistent Olive Garden taste. Nothing was outside of our expectations, taste wise or quality wise. The food was hot, so the food was brought to our car as it was done. It didn't sit during the long wait. We've been trying to support local restaurants during the shutdown so we will continue to do so for as long as we're able to, but may hold off on getting food here in the near future, just because the wait was so long. We ordered 2 tour of Italy pasta 2 kids items 1 eggplant and 1 chicken margherita with some side salads and soup. Food was very good, big portions very yummy famous bread sticks. The only negative thing is that the waitress did not remove the empty plates and cups so the table got very messy and all the plates are everywhere. I know that Olive Garden gets a hard time for not being authentic Italian but that's ok with me. I love their soups and Pittsburgh is the only region that still has the wedding soup and that's my favorite. The "Creat Your Own Pasta" is my standard go to. I like the flexibility and most importantly the price. I also really like the new pesto sauce they offer. It's much lighter than the other sauce I get. Last night I ate dinner at the Olive Garden in the Pittsburgh Mills Mall, Tarentum PA. I only ate about half of my eggplant parmigiana entree, and asked for the rest to be boxed. Just now, I put my leftovers onto a plate to heat them up for lunch, and a large piece of solid metal tumbled out from underneath my leftover eggplant parm and onto my plate (pictures attached). Luckily I saw it before I took a bite, but it was large, solid, and undoubtedly would have broken a tooth or been a choking hazard. Dear Olive Garden, I'm not coming to your restaurant to just pay for the food on my plate, I'm also coming for the experience. The food is great. Why is the experience a nightmare? The food was delicious and the staff was friendly. My only complaint is that the seating wasn't particularly thoughtful. For example, younger couples were seated next to extremely noisy families with screaming babies, older couples were seated in dark areas and couldn't see their menus, and younger rowdier teens were seated near middle aged adult couples wanting to enjoy a quiet evening nowhere near teenagers. It was a bit chaotic to say the least. My husband and I were practically seated in the kitchen and were subjected to wait staff chatter throughout our meal. Also, for most of our meal, we were literally yelling at each other over the noise and unable to enjoy a simple conversation. I don't understand why multiple babies are allowed to scream for 20 minutes or more and the staff never ask the parent to handle the situation. A toddler was throwing food and nobody said anything. If I'm getting a fast food experience, why am I paying for a restaurant experience? The food is always so good, but we end up leaving very prematurely with to-go bags because it's difficult to stomach your meal under so much stress. read more

Stopped in 12/21 Olive Garden Tarentum (the Pittsburgh Mills) to have chicken scampi and minestrone soup and breadsticks. Breadsticks were awful - hard and didn't raise enough. Couldn't eat more than one bite. Minestrone soup wasn't too bad but seemed old. Chicken scampi was so strong tasting I only ate just a little. A great little Olive Garden. Yes, it's a chain restaurant, but it's an Olive Garden I've had a lot of good experiences at for many years, since it opened, really. I've always had good service, the food always seems as fresh as Olive Garden food is going to be, and it always seems clean, even when it is really busy, which it does get busy. At any Olive Garden, my go to is the eggplant parmesan or the soup and salad (unlimited) special for lunch. I really can't think of much else to say- it is an Olive Garden. We intended to go to the restaurant next door but the wait was too long. When we entered Olive Garden there was almost no one in the restaurant. Even with restrictions it was low. This should have been a sign. The menu is smaller which is understandable due to COVID. When our salad arrived it was missing several ingredients and had the dressing on the side. We didn't think much of it. What bothered us was the lettuce was wilted. We also didn't have any plates and asked the server for some. She said she was working on it, but she had another table to help. It was a table of 8 so I figured she expected a larger tip from them so was paying more attention to them. We asked for more salad and this time it arrived with all the ingredients and with dressing on it. We realized that the first salad must have gone to the wrong table. They must have ordered it special and unfortunately never received it. The breadsticks were fresh and warm. The tour of Italy, ravioli, and spaghetti were very good. Everything came out hot and correct. We do like the food. This review should really be more like 2 1/2 stars because of the server, but the entrees were good so I gave it a 3. Stinky. You're greeted with a dank smell when you walk in the door. Like an old mop head or bar towel that's been festering in a bucket of old water. We looked at each and decided to give it try, hoping it doesn't stink in the seating area. It did. It was horrible. Look, I know its industrial grade Italian and wasn't expecting anything spectacular, however, cleanliness is important to me. Once the server arrived we decided to leave, we explained to her that it was horrible stinky and she said we get that all the time! She blamed it on the cheese that gets dropped on he floor! . We split, heading out the door and the hostess asked what's up and we explained and she said she'll let the manager know. I can't comment on the food because we were never seated. We requested a booth in the front near the bar which was empty but needed bused. We sat patiently for a good while and finally the bus boy cleared the booth. The booth sat empty, and we sat frustrated as the hostess spoke to the waitress and both looked at us. I signaled the hostess to come over and asked her if we could be seated and she said that the waitress said no because she had three tables already! After another long wait, the hostess walked us towards the table when we were shocked to see a mangy dog taking a break from eating table scraps to lick its ass. No "service animal" markings, nothing, just a mutt pleasuring itself next to our dining table. There were TWO managers standing around doing nothing but looking important so I explained the situation. She said that she couldn't question the dog owners but she could seat us in a different area. Since we had already invested so much time and because we were curious as to what other bizarre experiences could possibly await, we agreed to sit in another area. Once again, I can't comment on the food, service, or ambiance because no one ever came to wait on us. There were several other couples sitting around us also looking at each other with no drinks or menus. How pathetic to have two managers on duty who both think that it is below them to wipe off a table or fetch drinks or to do anything but stand around looking pretty. This is a decent Olive Garden location in the Mills. We had the seafood brodetto and shrimp primavera, along with some house wine, and were satisfied with the taste and quality of the food. The minestrone soup was also good. The main downside for us was that the waiters were cleaning up other tables while we were eating and the cleaning liquid had a not-so-good odor. The interior is pretty much similar to other Olive Gardens I have been to. Decent, but chainy looking. Where we sat was somewhat dark, which could be good or bad. We considered it romantic -- if not for the odor of the cleaning liquid. If you feel like eating at a chain (which is likely your unavoidable fate while you are at the Mills) , this may not be a bad choice. Tell them beforehand not to clean up with odorous liquids, however! read more

The waitress acted like it came out of her personal check when I ordered a second bowl of "all you can eat" soup. When I ordered a third I thought i was going to have to get it myself! I have no reservations or naïveté I just understand it for what it is and nothing more. They put out an interesting product and feature creative dishes that do hit the spot sometimes.
