A romantic little bistro with EXCELLENT customer service! The food was fresh and delicious. My husband loved the wedge salad with blue cheese AND balsamic vinegarette. The bread was warm and soft and scrumtuous. I had a hot bowl of yummy minestrone then a perfectly cooked, melt in your mouth filet mignon with mushroom risotto and spinach. For us this place deserves one star for their food and one for their service. The friendly staff is what gives this place even one star as our waitress was very nice and attentive. Let's start with the bottle of wine we ordered. We opted for the Sangiovese blend 2016 and were brought out a 2021. 5 years is a big difference in wine yet they charge 2016 prices and give 2021 wine. The table ordered the appetizer trio. The tomatoes were good. The crab cakes we not fresh and the sauce was nothing more than barbecue sauce. The calamari was tasteless and tough. The risotto was out of the kitchen in 5 minutes. And for anyone wondering why you would complain about fast service is because that sort of food requires more than a microwave to PROPERLY make. The dish would make anyone trained in Italian cuisine to scoff. I was extremely disappointed in this as their website boast they have the award of best risotto in Ventura and they clearly do not. The raviolis were on par with the risotto. They were not fresh made and for the price you would expect that they were made that day. Little advice would also be to not drown them in olive oil like it's a sauce and instead make a sage brown butter sauce to toss them in. Came today for an early lunch, they turned the heat lamp on for us as it was chilly inside and out. Was craving some shrimp and ended up getting a shrimp and scallop dish. The tiniest and cutest little Italian fine! My roommate and I actually found this place through yelp (thank you fellow Yelpers) and we absolutely loved it! The food, bread, FREE bruschetta, and drinks were all just so great! I got the chicken picatta and I would highly recommend this! In addition, I got their lemon drop with Tito's vodka instead of the main one they use and it was delicious. They offer a free dessert with check in and allow you to choose from their dessert menu rather than having 1 specific dessert already chosen. Our waitress was very nice and did a great job. Nice date night with my wife at Olivio's. Been bookmarked for too long it seems. We brought our own bottle of wine for a reasonable $10 corkage fee. We decided to try the Olivio's Trio which is their appetizer sampler. It comes with crab cake, calamari fritti, and caprese salad. Crab cake was very delicious and my wife who is picky with tomatoes enjoyed the caprese salad. For dinner my wife ordered the chicken piccata and I selected the Grilled Salmon. My husband got food poisoning immediately after eating their salmon dish. The plate came out extremely hot which was unnecessary. They obviously used spoiled fish and thought by cooking it at that temperature that no one would notice. My husband has been having stomach cramps and diarrhea episodes after having lunch here. Great job on the taste and presentation of the dish, a added bonus was their version of there bread, also baked and not in a package or left out from a previous day. Definitely could tell the difference. fresh is always the best way to go. Olivio's is one of those places that can be absolutely amazing or just okay. One of my friends recommended Olivios to me for dinner but I saw they were open for lunch. Overall, definitely has potential but did not hit the spot fully for me. Below are my pros and cons. Pros - The lunch deals are actually good deals as you do get a sandwich and house salad. - Large menu with quite a variety - Service is good and quick for both takeout and outdoor dining. - The desserts are delicious. Cons - Sandwiches were Ok at best. The chicken parmigiana was pretty bland nothing special or crispy . I did ask for light sauce but the chicken wasn't anything special. The pesto was a bit better but again nothing special. - Lunch Caesar salad is $10 but the size should be a bit bigger for takeout. Overall, the food I got was ok but some of the items like the salad and desserts really were delicious. I will come back again to give them an opportunity for 5 stars but for now 4 stars. read more

My Husband & I went there this evening, Greg was our waiter, it's actually the 2nd time here. I have to say his Chicken Parmigiana was superb. Really good food! The food: the food here was phenomenal. It's a super cute mom and pop style Italian restaurant. The quality of the food was great. I had the shrimp and scallops pasta and I throughly enjoyed it! Others in the party ordered the crab cakes, chicken parm, and chicken Piccata. All the dishes had great flavor. The two chicken dishes were MASSIVE!! There were large prices of chicken and were accented with lively sides. The drinks: I had a mojito and it was great! Packed with plenty of fresh mint (yummy!!!). They had a nice selection of beer and wine as well. The vibe: a cute and quaint place to come to. They have patio seating and indoor seating. It's a small restaurant but holds a good amount of people. The service was not the best (hence the 4/5 star review) but the food was fantastic. My mom is a long time Simi resident but first time here. My mom and I came in for lunch. What a cute little place. Nicely decorated and soft music playing. I got the Chicken Parmesan sandwich and my mom got the Meatball Sandwich. Both came with a side salad (huge btw). My Caesar salad was delicious with fresh, crispy lettuce and fresh parmesan. My mom enjoyed her garden salad and said the vinaigrette dressing was delicious. Both sandwiches came on homemade bread and were much bigger than we thought for $12. Both with plenty of their delicious sauce and smothered in melted mozzarella cheese. The chicken was pan fried nice and crispy but tender and juicy inside. My moms sandwich had 6 big meatballs and satisfied her craving for Italian food today with enough leftover for lunch tomorrow. We can't wait to come back and try them for dinner. My wife and I went here for the first time for an early dinner last night. I am contemplating whether to give it 4 or 5 stars and I will decide at the end of the review. There are no real negatives. To be blunt this is one of the best restaurants in Simi Valley. A place where the best food in general comes from franchises. Basically from my view Simi Valley has slim pickens when it comes to food for foodies like my wife and I. Given the competition this restaurant deserves 5 stars but in the greater food arena I would rate it as a 4. First, it is a charming small restaurant. Cozy springs to mind. The staff is pleasant and informed and offers good insight into their food. My wife had the meat lasagna which was solidly good. I even had a fair amount and I do not care for Lasagna in general. I had the shrimp linguine. It was also solid and very tasty. Good amount of good food for the cost. I would have liked a little more pasta in the dish as I am a tall person and there was a lot of sauce left over. But really quite good. THe bruschetta at the start of the meal was mouth watering. A great start to the meal and that is perhaps why when we got to the first course (a white bean soup) it was a bit disappointing. Not bad mind you. My wife called it a one note which is spot on. I had the Caesar salad. As a picky Caesar salad person I was not disappointed. It also was by no means the best caesar salad but I will certainly order it again the next time I go here (and we definitely will come back) and frankly that says a lot about how good the salad is. We did not have any libations so I can't speak to that. So in the end I think I will give it 4 stars but a comment that I am excited to come back and try another seafood dish. They have many selections. If the quality is consistent this will become a likely regular place for my wife and I to dine. read more

We've started to venture out for a weekly date night and our second outing was to Olivio's since we heard some many good things about them. We arrived around 6:30 and were immediately seated. They started us off with a couple of pieces of bruschetta and some yummy bread with we used the oil and balsamic vinegar that was in bottles on the table to dip. We started off the with Wedge and a half Caesar and we split the Chicken Piccata and the Ahi Pasta. Both dishes were very flavorful and filling. My only complaint was there was only one server and one busboy for the entire restaurant and the server had to double as a bartender. There was up to 9 tables going at one time, and we had to ask several times for water before were were able to get refills. She was extremely nice but it is asking too much for one server to handle and give even good service. Not fair to her or to us patrons. We defiantly will be back though! read more
