Returned for lunch! It was pretty quiet. We tried the short rib soup this time and really enjoyed the meat, broth, and the noodles at the bottom. The items we got plus a seafood pancake were perfect for a group of 3, even with a big eater at the table.

Ollei does exactly what it sets out to do. It's a solid neighborhood spot with standard Korean bar food, a lively atmosphere, and straightforward, no-frills service. We stopped in after the Valkyries game based on the reviews, and it matched expectations. We ordered the seafood pancake, the half-and-half chicken wings, and the spicy pork belly. Portions were generous and easily enough food for three to four people. Banchan were negligible. One thing that stood out was how sweet many of the dishes were. If you're coming in expecting bold heat, just know the flavors lean noticeably sweeter than the menu descriptions might suggest. Overall, it was a perfectly decent meal at a fair price in a convenient part of Polk Street. I'd be happy to come back if I were in the area, though it probably wouldn't be my first choice if I were specifically craving Korean food.

We ended up eating at Ollei because of proximity. The streets were a bit chaotic, and parking was a challenge, but this Korean restaurant wasn't a far walk from us. We stepped inside to put our names on the list. While we waited outside we checked out their menu, which was conveniently displayed on their window. The dishes sounded great and it helped us decide what to order before we were even seated. The restaurant was on the smaller side, so seating was a tad cramped, but overall it felt cozy. They had a cute neon light with their name. We got a couple appetizers, which included the pan fried dumplings and tteokbokki. I ordered the Spicy Japchae for my main dish. They brought the banchan out pretty quickly, which we all devoured in seconds because we were so hungry. Then our main dishes started coming out of the kitchen. My spicy japchae was just the right amount of heat. Spicy enough to still be enjoyable. While eating our main dishes the pan fried dumplings came out, which was odd since we ordered it as an appetizer. And the tteokbokki we had ordered, never was added to our order by our waiter. After being told that by another waiter, we just decided to cancel it. The meal was pretty filling without feeling too heavy. Overall, it was decent.

Olle has the vibe of a Korean pocha and captures that atmosphere really well. Service was quick, food came out fast, and the waiter was extremely attentive. He noticed we were going through napkins and brought us more before we even had to ask, which I really appreciated. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The rice was hard and dry, and even the side dishes tasted dry. I also wasn't expecting cucumber in the tofu soup, and the soup itself just didn't work for me. Maybe I'm spoiled by SoCal tofu soup spots like Kaju and Sun Nong Dan, but compared with those, this was a big miss. I'd give a star just for the phenomenal service, but I wouldn't come back for the tofu soup.

The service is great and the servers are awesome. The restaurant is really loud so if you're expecting a quiet place to sit down, do not go here. They have MVs projecting on the wall too so that adds to the noise. As for the food, everything is great! The pajeon is flavorful, light and crispy. It had a lot of kimchi so that was yum. The army stew was not too salty and warmed us up! The soy garlic chicken was not overly sweet and was crispy too. The spicy pork was good but there were a few pieces that was chewy. It wasn't that spicy though but it still tasted good. The creamy pasta and tteok was good too and lived up to its name. I did find that the tteok was chewier than normally, but my partner said it was fine so to each their own. Will probably come back for a third visit!

Seafood pancake - the batter is a bit dense, wish there was more seafood filling but otherwise pretty solid but quite heavy Boneless chicken w sour garlic sauce - sauce is a bit salty and tasted more like a soy glaze than garlic sauce Staff friendly but there is a bit of a wait for food to come out. Nice fast Korean food vibes.

Do you remember the TRL days when you could watch the daily countdown for Top 10 Music Videos? Now imagine that but the K-Pop edition. With popular K-Pop music videos projected along the wall and the music playing in the background. Definitely an eye catcher, my daughter was dancing along all night to her favorite songs. We ordered too much according to the waiter, which is always my problem at Korean restaurants because I want to try everything. Tteokbokki 5/5: Absolutely loved because the sauce was the perfect blend of sweet and spicy for my certified spice lightweight palate. Corn cheese 5/5: eat it while it's fresh and hot so that you get that perfect cheese pull with your fork. Grilled pork belly 3/5: we got this because our daughter can't do spicy pork belly. And was kind of disappointed by this one because it was pretty dry and kinda lacking in flavor. Galbi 4/5: this was pretty flavorful so good when I added it with some ssamjang and wrapped in lettuce! Definitely coming back for a second take!

3.5 stars Ordered via Doordash. I don't remember if I picked the spicy level on the seafood tofu stew but it was pretty spicy, I usually get mild since you never know when Korean restaurants will add too much spice. It was still tolerable and pretty good. The pork belly bento box was on a special price on Doordash and they give you a lot of meat. The meat is a bit overdone so it is pretty stiff.

We were craving something warm late night after a show, stumbled upon Ollei. Hell yeaaaa for delicious food open late!!! Excellent choice for a cool autumn evening :3 Our group of 4 walked in on a Wednesday night, seated immediately. Minimal decor but clean and tidy. Staff were courteous and very attentive. Moments after ordering, our dishes arrived. TTEOKBOKKI: Just a lil sweet and spicy :3 Cooked well, super QQ. SHORT RIB SOUP: Soup is for the soul :') I think this melted my icy heart. Richly flavorful while still light and silky. And they don't skimp on the short rib! I swear I was drooling the moment our server brought it over. Next time, itching to try their Seafood Pancake they're so popular for.

This restaurant was busy on a Saturday night! My friends and I were able to join the Yelp waitlist beforehand so that we could be seated within five minutes when we arrived at the restaurant. We ordered three dishes for three people and had leftovers at the end. Seafod Pancake: This is one of the crispiest pancakes I've had in while, if not THE crispiest I've had in SF! The pancake was not overly greasy, and there was a good mix of shrimp and squid mixed into the pancake with a flavorful dipping sauce. Grilled Pork Belly: The pork belly was cooked well with a good balance of fat and meat, and the pieces were also cut thinly. Seafood Soup: Warm, spicy, and comforting. There was a good portion of seafod ingredients, and the broth had the right level of spice.

A cozy restaurant that embraces Korean culture and makes you feel like you're eating in a true Korean restaurant! With K-pop music videos being projected on the wall and cardboard cutouts of famous K-pop celebrities advertising drinks, you'll have a great experience with Ollei's ambience. Service was kind and relatively fast! 5/5 - Seafood Pancake - I personally think this is one of their best dishes and should impress anyone who has tried seafood pancakes before. The mixture of flavors and texture profile is perfected by the dish being cooked just right with a light, crunchy batter. Savory and well-salted. The serving is very generous and also slightly pre-cut. I would have preferred for it to be more definitely cut to make it easier to distribute. 5/5 - Kimchi Fried Rice - Very impressed with this dish! Kimchi was well-infused into the rice and did not have overly strong flavors. Great to pair with other dishes you may order. The salad on the side was also a refreshing touch to the savory flavor of the rice. 4.5/5 - Cheese Corn - A bit small in serving but comes packed with flavor!! The cheese melted well over the corn, and overall the dish had a light sweetness that made this fun to eat! I would recommend eating this fast though, because the cheese once lukewarm breaks off in chunks rather than remaining stringy. 4.5/5 - Tteokbokki - Very generous portions of tteokbokki in their sauce. Rice cakes were chewy and appropriately cooked. I would have appreciated more fish cakes in the dish, as it felt quite out-proportioned by the tteokbokki compared to similar past tteokbokki dishes I have had. 4/5 - Beef Bulgogi - Sweet and mostly tender! The only recommendation I have is that some slices were a bit dry and could have been due to uneven flavor, but I would still order this dish again. 4.5/5 - Banchan - Kimchi and tofu were very fun to pick at and eat while waiting for the main dishes to arrive. My favorite of the four were the creamy sauced sprouts (top left in the picture).

I was around the area and was craving Korean food and found this spot open early afternoon. I came with a group of friends and we ordered many dishes and I enjoyed all of it especially the chicken wings, the seafood pancake, the galbi tang! The Bo ssam was good but I wish the pork was a little more tender. Overall a solid Korean spot in the area and the price is pretty good for the portions!

Came in after exploring San Francisco and Land's End. Our group wanted tteokbboki and we ordered it along with rice balls and fried chicken (boneless). Everything came out relatively quickly and was delicious. The rice balls were so delicious with the great sesame oil flavor and the chicken was perfectly fried. I loved that we could get half and half, with one sauce being spicy and one regular. The portions for the three dishes were perfect for our group of 3. The servers were also nice and I love that kpop was playing on the wall. I definitely recommend this place for a good Korean meal.

Refined tasting experience with beautifully curated courses…read more Had a tasting menu at Ssal in San Francisco and experienced a wide range of thoughtfully prepared dishes, including sea scallop, barbecued live eel, bluefin tuna with Kaluga sturgeon caviar (+$30), aged amberjack, octopus chilled broth, cold water halibut, littleneck clam, grilled beef short rib with truffle, and a series of desserts and teas like magnolia berry, green tea cream roll, roasted burdock tea, Korean cracker, injeolmi cream puff, and maple candied pecan. Every course felt intentional and well-balanced, showcasing a mix of delicate seafood, rich proteins, and creative textures. The seafood dishes stood out for their freshness and clean execution--the scallop and halibut in particular were light yet full of natural flavor, while the bluefin tuna with Kaluga sturgeon caviar added a luxurious touch. The grilled beef short rib with truffle was deeply savory and rich, offering a satisfying contrast to the lighter courses. The pacing of the meal was smooth, and each dish arrived thoughtfully presented, making the entire experience feel like a well-orchestrated progression rather than just individual plates. Service was attentive, knowledgeable, and professional, with staff explaining each course and maintaining a calm, refined dining flow. The vibe is elegant and modern, with a quiet, focused atmosphere that allows the food to take center stage. It feels like a true fine dining experience designed for appreciation and exploration. Overall, a memorable and elevated tasting menu experience in San Francisco. Each course brought something different, and the balance of flavors, textures, and presentation made it a standout dining experience worth returning to.

It's been on my list of spots for a while, but my fam does not believe in paying premium prices for asian food, so I never suggest it for a special occasion meal. Luckily my friend was down, so we made it happen. Reservations were pretty easy. We didn't have to plan too far ahead. The atmosphere is very much more on the casual side. Granted they have that dim fancy resto lighting, but the vibe wasn't your typical michelin spot. No tablecloths, a stool for your purse, etc. I couldn't decide if I liked it or not. When you're paying a certain amount, I feel like a chair for your purse isn't too much to ask. Moving on to the real reason people come here, the food! I'm not gonna pretend I know a lot about Korean food. I did marry one, but he makes the casual traditional stuff - super spicy soondubu, kalbi, samgyeopsal, sesame leaf wraps, fish cakes, anchovy side dishes, etc. I do love really strong flavors, so some things were a little too delicate for me. But I did appreciate the inventiveness of the dishes. I guess asian fusion just really isn't my jam either at this price point. Service was excellent. I wanted to do a pairing, but it's mostly white and I'm a red girl, so the sommelier helped me to create my own pairing. That was fun and actually worked out really well. It's rare I find a michelin spot I would pay to go to more than once. This one was not a rarity. But in all, a good experience. I'm not mad I tried it. REVIEW #4074

The reservation system was a bit odd with no designated time slots, but rather you put in a time yourself online. The system turned out to not work very well as I originally booked a spot for 2 at 11am and then had to call to move it to 11:40am (weird time). Turns out when we got there, my name or a close spelling of it was on the list for 12:40pm. This wasn't a big deal to me since it's easy to mishear on the phone so we moved on from that. The restaurant was decently booked and we sat inside. Now for what my partner and I ordered! Unfortunately nothing called to me strongly so I went with the very basic choice of 2 eggs plate with ciabatta toast and rainbow potatoes. I added in chicken sausage for $3. 5/10: The toast was unbuttered and honestly tasted stale. The potatoes were nice and crispy, but unsalted and quite plain. The eggs were nice, I got mine scrambled. Sausages were okay, I think I actually ended up with the pork sausages rather than chicken. My plate was $26 and I can confidently say it is not worth close to that unfortunately. Brussel Florentine Benedict 6/10: My partner was intrigued by the ton yum hollandaise sauce. There was a hint of it which was nice. Benedicts were okay, nothing special. Coconut oat matcha 8/10: On the sweeter side, but enjoyable! I liked the toasted coconut pieces on top and thought it was a nice drink. Premium matcha wise, I don't agree necessarily, but hey it was an enjoyable drink. Drip coffee 0/10: My partner loves a drip coffee and not in a snobby way. From diner coffee to honestly plain old regular slightly brunt coffee, thats her jam. This coffee was just burnt. Not sure what happened but it was $5 for a completely bitter cup of burnt coffee. Not great. Fun side note: As we were ordering the table next to us called attention to their dish as their waffle was completely undercooked and tasted bitter. The wait staff was apologetic about it, but seemed to either not understand or insist it was "too sweet" not undercooked or bitter. The table was very polite about it so honestly it was not the best look for the restaurant. It was simply feedback and I don't believe it was taken very well. Regardless, just a fun note to throw in! We will not be back unfortunately. There are many lovely brunch spots and restaurants around the city and sadly I don't think this one is worth a try just because of the cost for the quality, but I always tell myself its always worth to try in case you do think differently!

I'd love to try Nisei sometime (they share a kitchen with Bar Iris), their dining room in the back seemed like a much quieter serious vibe. DRINKS * Mint - 4.5 stars, beautifully balanced, nice foam texture. * Ninjin sour - 4 stars. * Uni Cocktail - 5 stars. So amazing, complex, crazy, tasty. FOOD * Temaki Flight - 4.5 stars * Yaki flight - 4.5 stars * Kuzu chip - 4 stars * Wagyu Tartare - 4 stars

The interior was dimly lit and very moody. I loved how it was more of an intimate experience, where people are sipping on drinks, snacking on finger foods, and engaging in quiet conversation. My friend and I got the white peach as well as the strawberry drinks. We both are not big drinkers, and prefer drinks that are lighter in alcohol taste, and we highly recommend these drinks if you are looking for fruitier, refreshing drinks. We also ordered the yakitori and the hand rolls, and both were very tasty and flavorful. The chicken yakitori was juicy and the portion was pretty substantial. The fish in the handrolls tasted very fresh and high quality. We both hope to one day eat at the restaurant that the bar is connected to!

We had tried bibimbap before in Reno and really liked it, so he wanted to try it again. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with Korean-style fried chicken. For the first time in my life, I also tried a pomegranate mimosa, and it was amazing! It wasn't too sweet, and it had a very slight sourness that made it really refreshing and delicious. I also had coffee, which I enjoyed. When our food arrived, it honestly looked like a piece of art. My husband's bibimbap was sizzling, which was especially exciting. I tried some from his plate, and it was delicious! The Korean-style fried chicken on my Eggs Benedict was also amazing: crispy and flavorful. However, I have to say that I probably wouldn't order the Eggs Benedict here again. I've had better Benedicts, and I just don't think it's the dish to order at this particular place. Overall, we really enjoyed the atmosphere, the location, and the whole experience. I would definitely recommend coming here, especially if you want to try something more Korean rather than a traditional breakfast dish. And definitely try the pomegranate mimosa!

Simple but a great start to the meal. The Bulgogi BBQ came out sizzling with a very generous amount of marinated beef and vegetables, served with rice, kimchi, lettuce wraps, radish, jalapeños, and ssamjang. Flavorful, satisfying, and definitely enough to share. My favorite and probably the most fun dish was the Shin Ramen Cup Stir-Fry with Millionaire's Bacon . It's basically Shin ramen transformed into stir-fried noodles with vegetables, eggs, and thick pieces of their signature sweet-and-savory Millionaire's Bacon! Great service!

Undeniably first rate although a tad too spicy for my hubs. Maaaaybe for me too, though I don't like to admit it since I like to think that I possess a high threshold for spice. Like I'm some kind of spice ninja or something. But, in actuality, I'm just not. Hot & spicy dumplings. I hate mushy dumplings & these were nothing of the sort. Full of flavor, but not too spicy. Beef noodle soup. Hubs LOVED this so much that now he orders it every time. Fried rice. I order fried rice every time I order any Chinese food, just fact. This fried rice is stellar! So fresh, perfectly cooked, & not greasy. Win. Barbecued pork buns. Dynamite! Scallion pancake. Not too thick, not too thin. Not overcooked, not undercooked. Not too greasy. They got it right. Crab & cream cheese "rolls." For whatever reason, I feel compelled to order crab rangoon whenever I order Chinese, & this is their equivalent. They're more like "packets," thin & flat. The ratio of vessel to filling is just disproportionate. Where's the crab? Perhaps more importantly, where's the crab flavor? Lots of potential here but they fall flat. This appetizer is the only thing we've tried here that we haven't loved. Dumpling Union is now our favorite for Chinese delivery. Thank you DU for bringing us such a fresh & quality option for Chinese food. 4 & 1/2 stars.

We ordered their classic garlic pepper crab, garlic noodles (plain), kungpao eggplant, and fried calamari. Everything was tasty, except for the eggplant dish, which was over-caramelized. The texture was weird, and there was no kungpao flavor whatsoever. It tasted like candied eggplants. For dessert, we had the baked alaska. It was beautiful, nice presentation. It was super rich but if you've never had one before it may be an opportunity to try one for yourself. For cocktails, we ordered a Strawberry Field. It didn't taste anything like strawberry although it was beautiful. The beer selection was rather pedestrian. They had Sapporo, Budweiser, and a bunch of other options similar to the ones you can find at your local gas-station. lol

The cocktail menu was fantastic. I had the Saigon 75 and I would order it again! For food, I did the filet mignon shaking beef and Ferry Building Farmers Market vegetables. My dishes tasted very good but both were very sweet. Especially for the shaking beef, had the sauce not been so sweet, the flavor was really good. Note that I ordered this without the potatoes. The other thing I noticed was regarding the vegetables the green beans, sugar peas, and mushrooms were really tasty (though in a sauce that was too sweet), there were many green beans that were not fresh. The service was top notch!

I loved that the restaurant teleports you to 90s Hong Kong from the posters to tunes. It's not the biggest restaurant so it feels a little tight and a line forms quickly out the door. Food was consistently ok and salty. We ordered the fried squab, black bean clams, green beans, etc. Portions run on the smaller side but the price goes in the other direction. Next time I'm around, you'll find me at R&G Lounge which is the uncontested king and a much more authentic showing of Cantonese food.
