Very solid ramen spot for very reasonable prices per portion. Came here on a weekday after work, which was a good time - no wait, but by the time we left, all the tables were full. We ordered takoyaki, an unagi bowl, and a deluxe pork ramen. This was plenty food for 2 people. We were pretty stuffed by the end. The food itself was great! The toppings played for the deluxe ramen was huge - so much meat, definitely worth the price upgrade. The broth was rich and creamy, which I love for ramen. The takoyaki was nice and crisp, and the unagi was delicious and flavorful. Overall I would recommend stopping by here for a meal! Hope they keep the quality and proportions the same as time goes on, because we'll be back for more.

Brand new ramen spot on Polk street. There was a bit of a wait to get in (30ish minutes on a Sunday evening) for two people, but I imagine it will die down in a bit. Ramen and gyoza were both delicious. What's unique is that the restaurant specializes in Hakata style ramen from Fukuoka. Restaurant has some nice Japanese inspired decoration, nothing wow but it is comfortable.

My partner and I are serious ramen people and we have a go-to spot in the city that's been our benchmark for years, and nobody has come close. Until Denya. This little Polk Street gem has us genuinely torn. The menu is small but intentional, and every bowl feels comforting. I went with the Deluxe Pork Goma and it delivered on every level with generous toppings, perfectly textured noodles, and a broth that was rich and creamy. Nothing on the plate felt like an afterthought, especially the pork. Ambience is intimate but not overly loud which is nice. We waited about 45 minutes, which felt like a lot going in, but walking out it felt completely worth it. Next visit I'll aim for early dinner to beat the rush. Highly recommend if you're willing to be patient.

Came to check out the newly open ramen spot in Polk st. There was a small wait time even around 1:20pm, but not too bad. Food: we ordered the black garlic pork deluxe and the sesame chicken regular. We were disappointed that the black garlic ramen didn't include any garlic oil, only some dry ingredients on the side. Same with the sesame, only dry sesame powder on the side (See pictures). The broth unique in that it is foamy on the top like they aerated the broth, the taste is nice and rich. Not too salty and has a good complexity to it. Sesame powder kind of over takes the favor a bit and made it even heavier. Noodles were ok, snappy almost like egg noodles, would've preferred a bit more chew, but that's personal preference. The meats were well cooked, tender and flavorful. Rest of the toppings were pretty good too. We also ordered the chicken skin gyoza, that was amazing, we've never seen something like this in the US. It was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Would recommend. Ambiance: nice and relaxing ambience, high ceilings and good music. Server was friendly and there's a paper waitlist to keep organized.

4.5 STARS What the heezy?! Just in March, we were having gorgeous "summer" weather in the city but now we're back to SAD lamp weather. That means a steaming bowl of noodles is in order! I found Denya Ramen on yelp and their milky white broth lured me in. I tried visiting during weekday lunch but they were unexpectedly closed so I returned later that week for dinner. Walk-in only. They quietly soft opened about 1.5 weeks ago so no wait yet and we were promptly seated. It's a small, cozy resto with only 6-7 tables. Not recommended for more than a party of four. M E N U Specialty: Hakata Style Ramen - rich bone broth with thin noodles - Sizes: Regular - 2 pc protein, half egg, veggies ($16) or Deluxe: 5 pc protein, whole egg, veggies ($21) - Broth: Pork (tonkotsu) or Chicken (tori paiten) - Flavor: Shio (salt), Goma (sesame), Aka (spicy), or Kuro (black garlic) They also have a handful of apps and two rice bowl options. No beer or sake. F O O D * Takoyaki: Octopus Balls (6 pc-$9): https://tinyurl.com/37p8b2p7 Fav of the three apps, the freshly griddled balls were delicately crispy with a custardy center and a chewy piece of octopus inside. With the sauces and bonito flakes, it's savory sweet and full of umami. * Chicken Karaage ($10): https://tinyurl.com/32m3vk8j The marinated thigh meat was juicy and flavorful but a bit greasy and soggy in some places. * Torikawa Gyoza: Chicken skin wrapped veggie gyoza ($9): https://tinyurl.com/uhfvbp6r Love the concept of a keto friendly gyoza. I think the execution needs a bit of work tho...if the skin was crispy and served wit a tangy ponzu-like sauce to cut through the richness, it would be bomb. * Goma [Sesame] Tonkotsu Ramen (Regular-$16): https://tinyurl.com/ypjdub3t + Extra protein ($3.95) - Broth: Awesome tonkotsu (pork bone) broth - so creamy and milky with a deeply savory and porky flavor. The grounded sesame seeds added a mild nuttiness. Not overly heavy or salty. - Noodles: Thin, chewy, and springy. - Chashu: -- Pork shoulder: Savory and tender. -- Pork belly: Meltingly tender and flavorful with caramelized edges. - Ajitsuke tamago: Savory sweet, marinated soft boiled egg with a perfect jammy center. - Veggies: Bamboo shoot, kabocha, baby corn, green onions, bell pepper, and tomato. S E R V I C E Great hospitality from the sole serve - she was very friendly and warm. Prompt food service. A M B I A N C E Cozy, moody with maneki-neko (good luck cat) banners and hanging round paper lanterns. Overall, solid soft opening! If you're looking for a satisfying bowl of ramen with deliciously creamy and milky broth, hit up Denya!

Great service, flavors, and cute decor! Simple menu, just wish the broth was hotter (it was served warm) because the add ins on the side aren't super warm either. The presentation of everything is nice though.

Taste was really good but I wish the toppings like the pork and the broth itself was warmer. Once I added the toppings into the noodles and brother, everything felt very lukewarm temperature like it was left out. But I like how chewy the noodles were. I went for lunch on a Thursday and there was no wait.

    breaded scallops
    Aileen L.

I came to Denya ramen with two friends after seeing it pop up in my recommendations and the astonishing all 5 star rating on Yelp on a Thursday around 5:15pm. There wasn't a line, but we grabbed one of the last 2 or 3 tables at the time. It's relatively small inside, with may be 7-8 tables that can seat 2-4 people each. It's nicely decorated and we enjoyed the ambiance. Service was friendly anad prompt. We got the breaded scallops to share - the scallops were nice and large and slightly sweet, and not overcooked, and the breading was like a nice onion ring breading - just not sure the combination of the two made sense to me? Still glad we tried it though. I got the chicken tori paitan shio broth, deluxe size. The broth is rich and milky, and you can feel the collagen as you sip it, but it's not too heavy or overwhelming like some other ramen places might be. The deluxe size comes with an extra egg half and more protein, but it seems like the same amount of veggies as the regular size - I think it's worth it for how much protein you get, but as a veggie lover it would've been nice to get a little extra veggie! The noodles are nice and chewy, and have that slightly alkaline taste/scent that you only really find in quality noodles that don't get soggy. I finished all of my broth without felling oily or gross, and enjoyed every bite of the bowl! Denya ramen completely deserves its 5 star rating, and i definitely recommend coming through before it inevitably goes viral. It's one of the best bowls of ramen I've had in the city, and I will happily come back for another warm comforting bowl :)

    Chicken Goma Ramen
    Abigail S.

I have not been to Japan, but this Ramen is what I imagine it would taste like if I made a friend in Fukuoka & their mom invited me for a meal. Something about the profile of the broth is insanely complex and rich unlike other ramen spots in SF. Get the Goma if you're in the mood for a decadent meal, the richness from the sesame(and peanut) is incredible. I can't wait to to go back and try the spicy ramen next.

    Pamela L.

We were walking to a newly found restaurant that we liked. On the way, we saw this new restaurant and decided to try it. When we stepped in, the restaurant reminded us of being in Japan. The menu is simple - whatever broth you choose, the ingredients are the same - large portion means a larger portion of ingredients. Broth is smooth and flavorful. It comes temperature hot. Food tastes fresh. We tried mostly everything on the menu.

Shio ramen toppings served separately with succulent chicken, soft egg, and seasonal vegetables
    Johnny J.

Soft opening and already honestly one of the best ramen experiences I've had in San Francisco. I ordered the chicken shio deluxe Hakata-style ramen with cucumber salad and shared takoyaki. The broth was astonishing -- silky, rich, deeply flavorful, almost creamy from the collagen-rich chicken stock but still incredibly refined and clean tasting, not greasy or heavy. The chicken itself was unreal: both the white and dark meat were perfectly cooked and incredibly tender. I also loved that the toppings were served separately at first so you could really experience the broth and noodles on their own before building the bowl yourself. Thoughtful presentation and beautiful textures throughout. You can tell there's real care and technique here. Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. I will absolutely be back. Congratulations on the opening.

Denya Ramen is getting five stars from me without hesitation. I've been chasing a good tori paitan ramen ever since I discovered this glorious dish in Japan last year. For the uninitiated, it's a rich, frothy chicken broth, kind of like the chicken equivalent of tonkotsu, and when it's done right, it's absolute magic. This was only their first week open, and both the service and the food were already top tier. You'll notice the ramen is served deconstructed, with the proteins and toppings on the side. Admittedly, I was nervous at first because if you know me, you know one of my biggest pet peeves in life is cold, unintegrated ramen toppings. But they clearly thought this through. I sampled everything first, and the temperature was absolutely considered. Once combined, the broth stayed piping hot and everything came together beautifully. My favorite bites were the ajitama egg, absolute perfection, and the marinated bamboo shoots. There were also some fun pops of color and texture from sweet potato, cherry tomato, and bell pepper that made the bowl feel thoughtful and a little different from the usual. The noodles had that perfect toothsome chew, exactly what you want. Go now. Seriously. They're going to have a line out the door in no time.

The ramen was rich, comforting, and packed with flavor. The tonkotsu broth was creamy and savory without feeling overly heavy, and the noodles had a great texture. The pork belly was tender, flavorful, and melted in my mouth, making every bite satisfying. The buns were soft, fluffy, and a great addition to the meal. The filling was flavorful and paired perfectly with the pillowy bun, making them an easy favorite. The karaage was also a standout. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and perfectly seasoned, it made for a great side to pair with the ramen. If you're looking for a calm, relaxing place to eat, I wouldn't say this is the place. It's sort of an "in and out" situation. I ordered the spicy G.K.O. So so delicious. One of the standout appetizers was the spicy enoki chips. They were packed with flavor while still feeling light and crispy. Fair warning--they definitely bring some heat! I love spicy food, and while the spice didn't linger much on my tongue, it definitely had my nose running a bit. My husband ordered the GKO ramen bowl, and it was absolutely loaded with flavor. The garlic-forward broth was rich, savory, and incredibly satisfying. It does get a little heavy toward the end, and you'll probably leave with garlic breath--but it's 100% worth it. I ordered the Spicy Signature Toripaitan ramen, and we were both glad I did. Despite the name, it's not particularly spicy, which was perfectly fine with me. The broth was creamy, flavorful, and comforting without being as rich as the GKO. The duck chashu was incredibly tender, and the oyster mushrooms added a wonderful chewy texture that balanced the bowl beautifully. Add the enoki chips to the broth, you won't regret it! Service was great. We were checked in on frequently and always had a refill when needed which was definitely needed when we ate the enoki chips. At least for my husband anyway. Overall, we absolutely loved the ramen here. Every dish was flavorful, filling, and thoughtfully prepared. We left happy, full, and already looking forward to our next visit.

Windy and cold in SF tonight, so we decided on Ippudo ramen before watching Supergirl at the…read moreMetreon. The host asked if we and another party of 4 wouldn't mind sharing a long table, so both parties agreed. The place was extremely busy!! Our orders were taken pretty fast, and the steaming bowls of ramen came out shortly after. The tonkotsu broth brought back memories of Japan where Ippudo ramen shops were everywhere, in the malls or train stations....yes, Ippudo is a very popular chain. And here it tastes as good!! The menu has expanded over the years, but we just wanted a quick dinner before the movie so we all ordered the same thing. Sharing a table must be confusing for the waiters, they kept asking which party had what ....

Came here after a long day at the Super Bowl experience. We…read moredid a walk-in for four. The wait for a table was 20 mins or we can share a large table with random people and be seated immediately. We were hungry. We went with the large shared table. Pleasantly, there was more than enough room. There were at least 1-2 seats in between the three groups on each side that were there- a solo diner, a small family of 3, and my group of 4. I ordered the Karaka Spicy, my bf ordered Akamaru Modern, his sister ordered Miso, and I don't remember what her friend got- I think it was also Karaka spicy. My bf and I ordered the Treasure plate on the side to share and a side of spicy paste because I know Japanese spicy is barely spicy (from someone who grew up eating SEA spicy). Karaka Spicy had a nicely balance tonkotsu mouth feel and pork flavor. Broth was a little salty. I was correct to assume that it wasn't spicy because I used half of the side of spicy paste and I still didn't think it was spicy enough. Chashu was cooked fine. Notes: - I wished I would've asked if they could swap the thin noodles for the thick ones. I love the chew thicker noodles provide. - Noodles were cooked al dente. Akamaru Modern tasted very similar to Karaka spicy without the spicy. My bf used the other half of the spicy paste as dip for his toppings. He enjoyed it. Miso was a lighter broth (obvi) with a good umami flavor and was not watered down. Solid. She loved it. I have never seen her finish a whole bowl of ramen before. There was a server in training that took our order with the help of the trainer- he did great. Staff was attentive with our waters. Bussers were also quick to notice and remove empty plates and bowls regularly making for an easy clean up after we leave and kept the shared table clutter free. Interior was modern, but casual. They had an expansive menu with vegetarian choices, sushi, buns, karage, etc. and a surprisingly large array of alcohol. I would def like to be back to try some drinks.

I've been to plenty of Japanese/Ramen spots and I've been running into the issue where I say I have a soy allegry and there is an assumption that I have a gluten issue (I do not have a gluten issue). I noticed yelp said they have soy-free options and thus called on Friday thinking it might be a bad idea as they're usually busy.. It was defintely hard for the person to hear a bit when they picked up. The staff did relay something about gluten free noodles.. Anyways, they said they could swap out any of the soy soups for salt (but soy can encompass a lot of things so I still wasn't feeling super confident but we're going to give it a go). We go and I asked which 4 of the soups I was eyeballing don't have soy - the staff said they can accomodate and replace any of the soy soups with a salt broth. After we ordered, the staff came back and checked in to make sure that my partner also didn't have an allergy. And my dish came out, they told me there was no egg as its marinated in soy - perfect to me. I'm glad that was caught as not every establishments can account for everything. - Now I have a spot to (more safely) eat ramen! - I advise that if you do have an food allergy, do talk to the staff, and address your concerns such as cross contamination etc. I had a great experience, but I do find that because its not so regulated or understood and there is lack of education amongst the food/resturant industry - you always need to advocate for yourself and there is always a risk. I'm very apperciative of the staff here.

Okonomoyaki tater tots - 8.5/10 from a potato lover!! This does have some sort of cheese on it so beware if you don't eat it Hamachi Hand Roll - 9/10 SO GOOD. I think the rice is mixed in with soy sauce. It was super flavorful which I wasn't expecting Scallop Hand Roll - 8/10, the yuzu on top was absolutely delicious & scallop was very soft. Kobe Skewer - 7/10, it was good but nothing extraordinary. It'll hit the spot if you like meat skewers Yuzu Tori Skewer - 7/10, same as the kobe skewer, but the yuzu on top was delicious Niku Ramen - 8/10, good portion & very very flavorful. I'm glad that they gave a lot of meat in this. I shared this & they provided an extra bowl without me asking :) It's also not super spicy. Hokkaido Milk Pudding - 8/10, the pudding itself was so good but the sauce was a little too sweet for me. However, my partner has a sweet tooth and loved it :) Will totally come again, everything was so yummy and so glad to have tried it!
