Was welcomed with a nice hostess taking our order. I got a pork chili verde which was really good. The tortilla matched perfectly with it as well. The pork was so tender and juicy. Prob the best breakfast chili verde I've had. Also had a banana bread latte which was great. Would highly recommend this place! Finally got around to trying this place and I'm so happy I did. We came around 10 am on a Saturday morning after a spin class so my friend and I were quite hungry! Luckily the wait was about 20 minutes so not too bad from what I've seen. The pastry case is beautiful with lots of options so I wasn't going to say no to a pastry --the coffee cake and blueberry muffin were wonderful! The sausage biscuit was great it had an awesome jalapeño marmalade on it! The cast iron baked egg was also delicious. Finally stopped in to try after seeing this place all over Instagram! It's order at the counter style and definitely gets a little busy on a Saturday morning. There is a patio out back with a decent amount of seating. We ordered some coffees and started off with a piece of coffee cake and a lemon blueberry muffin-- both of which were fluffy and decadent, especially the crumb toppings! I went for the popular sausage + biscuit sandwich. The savory flavor of the sausage was balanced perfectly with the spicy and sweet jalapeño marmalade. I had the chili Verde skillet one egg and a tortilla and if you like spice, you gotta try this spicy enough to eat, but definitely give you a kick in the butt very much worth the drive. Ollie Vaughns is one of my favorite gems for breakfast/brunch. Located on East McDowell it shares a parking lot with the uniform store and a few small shops. Parking is limited and it is unfortunate because it does steer people away or so I've heard. They have a nice patio when the weather is nice but not too much space for a large group. Their biscuits and gravy is outstanding. The counter is right as you walk in and sometimes creates a line. Some people behind me were frustrated because they drove around for parking and said they "needed to move their counter". Not sure that's possible or would matter in my opinion. I just wish the hash had a bit more crisp to it and the egg had been slightly runnier. Overall, I'd give it a 7 out of 10. I really liked what they did with the space. It has that "dark sunglasses, cure-your-hangover, lazy Sunday at a friend's backyard" kind of vibe relaxed and effortlessly cool. The only explanation I can think of for all the ice in the cold brew is that it felt more like coffee poured over ice than an actual cold brew. Really wanted to try this place but parking is horrible, they share a very small parking lot with several other businesses so they ask you to park across McDowell road and walk. I didn't want to chance running across a super busy street, or walk 10 minutes in 108 degree heat in business attire melting away in my clothes, so I just left. Maybe I'll try again when I have more time to find adequate parking, but for now, I'll go somewhere where I can park closer and waste less time searching and sweating. read more

I've been wanting to try this place out and as an unofficial brunch connoisseur, this checks off all my boxes! It looked so simple but the bread was noteworthy. So buttery and toasted to perfection, filled with a fluffy egg and crispy bacon. The ingredients are so fresh! Just wish there was some avocado to cut the grease a little bit, it would have been more balanced. Sunny burrito: 10/10. Our favorite breakfast burrito in Phoenix so far! We've only tried a few, but this one easily takes the top spot. Loved how thin the tortilla was and I was craving more after every bite. The crispy hash browns in it made for a nice crunch and the chorizo was so good. Chili oil was a great touch. Lemon ricotta pancakes: 9/10. Cannot go wrong with anything lemon ricotta, especially pancakes with blueberry compote on top. The almond frangipane crumble made every bite addictive. I had a fantastic brunch at Ollie Vaughn's! Parking was a little awkward in that we had to park in a lot over, but we were able to find a spot quickly enough at ~10A on a Friday. As soon as we went into the restaurant, I was most excited about the pastries displayed in the window. We ended up getting a almond and pear tart, which was fresh, buttery, and had a delicate flavor. For the main dish, we got the cast iron baked egg, which was so rich and creamy. The melted cheese, cream sauce, and prosciutto were a perfect paring. My only complaint is that the bread was toasted to the point of cutting up my mouth, but it did still have a good sourdough taste. There was a fair amount of indoor seating, but it was fully occupied. The heat was bearable outside since it was still fairly early, but I do wish the sun shades were more protective of the seating area. Service was efficient and they were able to answer all our questions. All in all, I would love to visit Ollie Vaughn's again when in the PHX area! read more

On the hunt for a delicious, unique and trendy spot for a cute breakfast date with my husband and new baby boy, we were delighted with the taste and athletics of this place. I posted about it on my story and several friends commented how much they loved this place too! If you're doing when it's busy, be prepared to sit outside. They have limited indoor seating and it's quite loud inside. We asked the staff to turn down the volume slightly as we brought our one month old, the staff member seemed annoyed that we asked. Aside from that, we had a lovely time and will definitely return. I got the baked egg dish, very off brand for me, but was delightful. Very very filling!! I'm normally an egg and veggie girlie. Excellent! There was a small line when I arrived, but it went quickly. I was by myself so I was able to sit right by the front window on a bar so and it only sit in line for about 10 minutes. The food was served quickly, and the staff was friendly. The quiche with white cheddar, tomato, and jalapeño were the best quiche I have ever had. The salad was a plus it was absolutely delicious. I tried the honey lavender latte, which was very good, I'm just not a big fan of lavender so next time I do just honey. But overall, this was an awesome experience and I highly recommend. read more

First off, the ambiance of this place is amazing!! It's such a cute little cozy place. I happened to go on the rare day when it was raining in phoenix. Since the inside area is small, service was amazingly quick to turn over tables. I really wanted to get the pancakes but they were out of mix when I arrived. I got the biscuits and gravy with eggs instead. The dish was good but nothing too special. My dad got the egg sandwich. The meal was tasty and the bread was good quality but nothing special again. Came after Sunday service with some friends to catch up on life over a great meal. Today was clearly the day all those who love this place wanted to enjoy it a well as we waited in line for about 20 minutes to order. Not a big deal as we enjoyed the sun on a cool day. As always you think you have locked down what you're gonna order until you get inside and see l the delicious treats staring at you to take them out of the display and into your belly! Thankfully we were able to resist however we're sad to hear that all the biscuits sold out twice, yeah they are that good. Honestly I thought this place had it's ups and downs, the food was descent enough to possibly return but a server in their staff lacks professionalism and she acted like she knew it and couldn't care less what others may thought but when it's your job to serve...then serve with some grace, don't be a straight up bitch and act like when someone speaks up on a concern, be courteous and professional; don't act like I tattered in your corn flakes; like a damn bone that almost broke my wife's tooth and this server was absolutely lost on what to do and literally said well meat have bones but this one shouldn't have been in the meal in the first place she stated but this server had more excuses that it's was worth writing a review and she had to be reminded what the situation was because she actually walked away after our complaint and said she would "discuss" it with her manager and she never returned, I had to actually chase her down and I had to remind her of what happened and then she said again, well meat have bones that's all I know! Maybe she's there physically but obviously not mentally and finally a manager came by and asked what would we like to do and I said to please don't charge for just that plate and then she had to go get permission from the cook(she called him;not me). Maybe the chef is also the owner(?) and he ended up granting our refund and then server acted like it came out of her pay, so for all this unprofessionalism and incompetence, the food wasn't good enough to return unfortunately...oh well, live and learn! My favorite food hack is to get the sausage biscuit breakfast sandwich with side of gravy; the spicy jam gives it a nice kick. The line can typically go out the door since you order at the counter then seat yourself, line was moderate at 9am on a weekend. Seating is limited inside but they have a nice outdoor backyard with lots of shade. Parking lot next to the building is also rough but there's an additional lot right across the street. read more
